For me it does. My VW golf setup always has a little more delay to it then when I use a portable CarPlay display and its internal speaker. Here the delay is less, more so on TH-cam. Netflix is similar. So it also depends on app used. TH-cam seems to have a noticeable lower frame rate than Netflix.
It’s just an HDMI adapter. Do all the internet connection is for the hdmi device you connect to it. The Amazon fire tv stick and Google chrome can connect to your phone via a hotspot or if you car has WiFi it can use that too.
@@CarPlayLife Excellent, thank you sir! May be a better option than a Fire Stick, since we all carry phones already. Can eliminate one more device. But having the many options is still a good thing. Thank you sir! 👍🏻
Mine only shows 4:3 ratio and can't get rid of the right side screen. It's not full screen. Tried on Ford f150 2023 and Lincoln suv 2023. Video plays good but it would be nice if it was full screen
The CarlinKit HDMI adapter will stretch full screen. The Ottocast seems to do this differently. Did you also try to tap the screen ones to stretch the display?
Has anyone experienced the sound cutting out while streaming on a hotspot? I have mine connected to a firestick and my sound goes out randomly, which requires me to unplug and plug it back in to get the sound to come back.
What HDMI device are you connecting up to it? Audio Lag can depend on the car system. It’s possible you’re getting interference from something in the car. It could be a number of things. Try to bring the adapter as far away from your dashboard to see if it improves anything. Also try a different HDMI cable if you are not plugging it in directly. Some cables have poor shielding for any interference.
This is amazing! I've never seen one like this where you can connect an Android box to it. Are there others that do this too?
Other adapters? We will start to see more coming very soon. I have another coming next week.
I just got mine today and it's awesome in my suburban
@@edwardwebster9051 nice. I can't even update mine
Does this work with wireless CarPlay. I have a 2025 Camry and if not is there a ai box you recommend. Thank you
No it needs wired CarPlay to work.
Ai box if on a budget check out the CarlinKit tbox UHD 6225 CPU version
As someone happily using a Carlinkit5 for a while now, this is an interesting idea!. If this had wireless CarPlay as well I’d be tempted
I am sure we will see them merge the two at some point. If it isn't being manufactured already! :)
They have now released a new model that has wireless Apple CarPlay built in! Works great!
@@davidjp76 ooo do you know what it’s called? I’m using a C2Air 5.0 at the moment which has been great but curious over the HDMI option as well!
@@davidjp76 found it! Thank you!
@@davidjp76do you have the link for the new model
Can the fire stick be powered via usbc please 12v is in the boot
Sure. That can work too as long as the usb c port is powerful enough
What about carlin kit hdmi adapter?
Its cheaper then this please make a video with comparison between these two?
My review for it is out this Friday :) I had an issue with the first one they sent me and had to wait for a replacement.
Does the video seem to run smoother/more in-sync than an AI box?

Is there a device like this for wired android auto only? My car does not have wired carplay only wireless.
Not that I know of. Sorry.
Can I use this on my cellular network 5g or do I have to have a hot spot or WiFi

Is it possible to use an iPhone hdmi adapter a mirror your iPhone to the screen? If, so would it allow touch screen since the iPhone is touch screen?
Yes I did it here
th-cam.com/video/g9KIeJcQy04/w-d-xo.html but it doesn’t support touch passthrough.

Can you still receive text messages thru the infotainment while using this?
Your phone isn’t connected to the adapter. So you can connect your phone to your cars BT or just receive them on your disconnected phone.

It plays videos when you are driving???
Yes it does (at your known risk and to others)

Maybe try from a home router to rule out if it’s the connection from phone or maybe just the cable or hub you’re using 🤔
So this is so drivers can watch TV in their car?
In a way yes. Depends what you connect to the hdmi port.
One way to get Samsung Dex on the car display
That's a good use for it for sure :)
@@CarPlayLifeif it only had touch support it would be great. That way we could use an old android phone as ai box. Bummer
im having problem with mine. The image lag and the audio crack
Can be my car?

My audio I'm having problems with my audio as well. Mines would be on for a couple minutes and then it would go mute. Have that ever happen to you?
Mine not connecting
Make sure you’re giving the hdmi device enough power to display its content
Ok
Normally to be fair whenever I am in the car, I rather tend to watch the road.
Depends on the person that uses it I guess. It has many uses for its method. 🤷🏻♂️
