2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit trim. Upgraded the firmware for the Firedrive - fine. The Firedrive Carplay home screen appears almost every time when the key is turned on, but the Firestick has only booted up a couple times in 20 stationary and driving situations. Tried everything, different usb ports, different power sources, two Firestick 4k Max's, and one Firestick 4k. No luck... except a couple times. If the blue light comes on the Firestick appears. Most of the time the Red light is on indicating power only. The phone (device menu) on the car will show that there is a Carplay device, but if you press to connect, it says its not there. I have looked at every setting on the Jeep and there is really nothing that relates to setting for Carplay. It's just odd that it has worked a few times. I actually plugged a Chromcast into the Firedrive and it worked fine. Not sure why the Firestick is finicky. I have an older 1st gen Firestick that I will try, but I will probably get the same results.
Thanks for sharing. This sounds very odd. To make I’d say maybe the stick isn’t getting suitable power for it to operate - Try a different power source. Or the bridge usb part is faulty - try a different bridging usbc to micro usb cable Also check the stick isn’t set to UHD or - resolution that it can’t display on the car system. I had it set to home 4K monitor and UHD and the box didn’t want to show anything on screen once it booted.
I also had a similar issue with my Toyota RAV4 Prime. Could not get the FireStick 4k to boot without getting the FireDrive running first, then pulling the power plug to the FireStick, and re-attaching it. Thought it was power related, but a separate power adapter didn't help. Turns out the FireStick boots up in 4k HDR by default, and the FireDrive doesn't like this. Setting the resolution manually to 1080p60 and disabling HDR resulted in my FireStick booting more reliably when I attached the FireDrive to the CarPlay port. I can even get away with using a single USB cable and not that Y adapter it came with. And the AV sync is perfect out of the box!
Hello. My car (Kia EV 6) connects to the fire stick but the screen just shows the HDMI lockscreen. It worked once but now it always gets stuck at the HDMI lockscreen and the light on the stick is not turning blue. Do you know what the issue could be ?
Hi. Check the fire stick is getting enough power. Also make sure the stick isn’t outputting HDR and 4K resolution, which isn’t likely supported by the car display. Only way to do that would be to plug it into a tv and set resolution to 1080p or 720p and turn HDR off. I would check those first.
Thank you for your help! It worked the first time, but the second time I tried it, it didn't work . Do you have an idea what the issue could be or how I can solve it?@@CarPlayLife
Hi Antony , grt video as usual 🎉 I was wondering if u could test this adapter with their latest car tv mate pro device and let us know if it works seamlessly without showing any boxes around the screen , using a single hdmi to type c cable of couse
Yes you’ll use either a cig lighter 12V socket and a usb adapter that does at least 18W more the better. Or you can use a battery bank with a high enough usb output
From what you said it sounds like it did work before and now it does not? How many times have you used it before it stopped working? Did you update it?
If it has never worked, it is likely due to compatibility. BMW connections for CarPlay can be very picky. Some BMWs only connect to CarPlay wirelessly, so anything like a wired adapter will not work unless it's made for BMW and works around this compatibility issues.
Unlikely over software update. I think they are more likely going to release new hardware once they’ve learned from this one a little longer. Maybe next year we will see one for android auto 🤞🏻
Hi Anthony, I have a dongle for wireless connection to Android auto, but it doesn't show YT saying "No new messages during this drive" will this method cure my problem as I have a spare FStick. I am in the UK
Sounds like your car system is blocking the transmission. It depends how it is doing this though. The fire drive link only works with CarPlay usb port, tricking the system into thinking an iPhone is connecting and uses its video feed to cast the hdmi signal instead. So in theory this could bypass your video restriction from your cars system. It’s worth a try 🤞🏻
Hi Anthony, I just got a 2020 corolla that only comes with wired carplay no android auto, and I have an android phone. Do you have any recommendations or videos on converters? Most converters I've found so far are outdated and discontinued.
The CarlinKit 4.0 (not 5.0) th-cam.com/video/qsSFCDMMvR4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=C3SyyYPJesFqJ2Ys Or Ottocast u2-X pro th-cam.com/video/nZHFpZEvuVU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=K8GIVgMCRnUsP3fL Either should allow AAuto on a CarPlay only system. I haven’t tried this though myself. But from Amazon for easy returns.

Hi Anthony, great review as usual, but slightly confused, probably just me ! But does this adapter also do wireless CarPlay, or is it just a Fire Stick adapter ?
No wireless functionality on this one - an adapter that does this is coming next Tuesday on the channel ;) It is mainly aimed at connecting the Fire TV stick to the CarPlay display via CarPlay USB port. Hope this helps and thanks for watching :)
@@CarPlayLife trying to find this on amazon? but its not showing up?! i know you said its on the link. but im not understanding where to look to purchase....thanks for your speedy response. cheers
Update: Apparently the technical team has said that the current test results show that compatibility has been greatly improved. I’ve asked them if it’s on the shipped product or if they have this compatibility improved via a firmware update + can this update also be applied to the earlier hdmi to CarPlay adapter or theirs
Hello.
Thanks for mentioning the lip synchro performance. It's very helpful.
I really appreciate it!
No problem! Thanks for watching
Does this work with any firestick and especially for indian cars like verna 2024 model?
I think so yes but I’ve only tried it with a 4K model. As long as it has the adapter on the side for power so I can use the bridging cable connector.
What about toyota tacoma 2016 it work ? Thanks
It needs a CarPlay port so it’s unlikely

Can you watch program while you are driving
Yes you can
When I go to order it on Amazon, it says it will not work on a Chevrolet? And I have a 2017 Chevrolet suburban. Please advise
It’s up to you if you want to avoid that and try it but be prepared to send it back. Though Amazon should be easy if it doesn’t work

this works with moving car or only with stopped car?

@@CarPlayLife thanks!
does it work with cars already carplay and android auto wireless ready?

It needs a wired CarPlay port to work. So if it can also do wired CarPlay it might work

That requires a new video. It also all depends on what you want out of the ai box

HDMI out does limit your options a bit. Picasou 2 might work for you or CarlinKit’s UHD 6225 ai box.
