Thank you for the comparison video. One reason I'm looking to switch from the Firestick 4k, is the fact you can't get Dolby Atmos from Netflix. I'm lead to believe you can with the Chromecast. I also have a Pixel 5 and just quite like the Google software experience. Cheers!
I have both. Chromecast much better across the board except for the remote. My Chromecast is actually faster. I paired the Fire stick remote to the Chromecast and but works fine, except for voice command.
@@FreeTech Well to be fair the 2nd gen firestick/fire lite would have been a much better comparison vs the Xiaomi stick as they are very similarly speced, priced as well as aimed at people looking for up to 1080p streaming. To be honest, You kinda dropped a very easy to grip ball by going with the 4K instead but its not to late to pick it back up and do a successful follow up that omits the previous error in judgement 👍

Not to mention we see the price of the Firestick 4K drop to the same price if not lower. Great review and thanks. I have 2 Firesticks and both with expanded storage . I also have the one I use most connected direct to my router. I have several links and tool etc. Tools and great links...I have a total of 39 links 3 tv type links on my Silk browser. I am pretty much brain dead when it comes to setting all of this up( being an old guy doesn't help much ...thats for sure) but I must admit seeing the 3 You tubers that has helped me so much and that I absolutely positively trust the most all here is great ...Adam ( Free Tech) Stream & Tech and of course TechDoctor UK thanks gentlemen you all are awesome. As a owner of 3 firesticks 2 which are 4 k . And a new chromecast. I would slightly lean to the chromecast ( even though the firestick 4 k I can't fault) . The reason I lean towards chromecast is customizability . After customizing and fixing chromecast I really like it. But then again I've done basically the same to my 4ks lol . Test I've seen show the chromecast performs slightly better in all types of bench marking.
Yeah it really was a close match up. The 2gb Ram showed when opening apps etc but hardly anything in it. The main thing that will sway people is the launchers and do you prefer Google or Amazon. Great comment!
@@FreeTech Think the future customizing of chromecast could be key for google . They get somethings fixed that I've seen people complain about in forums they could well have a winner in future sales. But I see amazon coming out with a more powerful stick in the near future to try and one up them .

I've got the same issue with the Nvidia Shield, I'm constantly pressing the enter button while navigating or the Netflix button nearly ever time I pick the thing up. The remote is the only thing I miss from the Firestick 4k. Hey, how about a video on how to re-program an old Firestick remote to work with other devices?

Great review! Depends on what you prefer. I own both but lean towards the Amazon Firestick solely on practability. It just makes it easier with lots of Echo Dots and Shows spread around the gaff and I can shout out what I want on TV if I've lost the remote (pure laziness). Then again I dont know if Nest Mini works with the Chromecast, guessing it probably does.
Hey, did you buy the Google TV stick and can not find the typical Google Play Movie library view? In order to get that view, where you can browse and search through movie genres etc. just push the assistent button on the Google TV remote and say: "Open Google Play Movies". Thats it!
I went from not liking this device very much to now loving it. 😂 The remote also wasn't really something I liked the look of, but the more I use it the more I'm quite liking the look & feel of it lol.

Thanks for the video, do you know if with the google tv you can pair it to a google nest mini to use the nest mini as an additional external speaker? From what I've read it seems this isn't possible while it is with the equivalent amazon products.
I have both devices. Both boot up virtually instantly on my TVs. We have TH-camTV and the Chromecast handles the live channels MUCH better than my fire stick. You just click on live and you are in the youtubetv tuner. With the fire stick I have to click live and see generic tuner, then click on a channel I want to watch and wait for whatever app it is on to boot. The fire stick starts to lag badly if I don't reset it after a couple of weeks. If you have TH-camTV as your provider, I think the Chromecast is a much better option, especially if someone in your house is not very adept at navigating menus.
Great comparison FT. The RAM is a very important point. Depends on what sort of RAM. DDR4 seems to perform very well. The FS Lite has 1GB DDR4 and seems to work OK. The 4K FS has 1.5GB but not sure which type, DDR3 or 4 ? Not sure what type of 2GB RAM the Chromecast has? However, both devices seem very good at their price point. Cheers!

They are both great devices. I love my fire stick 4K. No complaints at all & its been 4 years. Chromecast is great also. Its like Samsung vs apple. Mercedes vs Bmw, MacBook vs Microsoft. Its a tie❤
My only complaints about the Chromecast are similar to yours. The remote is small and lacks the play/pause/Fast forward. Another thing that drives me insane about the Chromecast is the lack of browser. Amazon has Silk as their own browser compared to google who doesn't have Chrome for some reason...

Does the chromecast have the option to tell it to do stuff hands-free like the firecube? The main reason why I love the firestick/firecube is because of the Alexa option.

Hi . you mentioned Chinese boxes that don't support 4I Netflix but you forgot the excellent Mi box from Xiaomi that supports 4I Netflix and has build in Chromcast . This device costs the same and I would love to see you compare the 3 devices
I have several 4k sticks already and I don't see much reason to upgrade to the Chromecast for such a negligible performance increase... Not worth it...
I own all fire sticks generations. And when you combine them with the Fire recast it becomes a powerful DVR that allows you to stream OTA channels and you can cast them on the phone when you are away. Not sure if Google has this features.

I never see HBO Max mentioned in this battle. Fire stick does not inherently support it, but CCGTV does. Do you guys use workarounds, or do you not care about HBO Max? I feel like Fire and Roku are trending toward playing more and more hardball with content providers, whereas CCGTV seems more open. Thoughts? Great video btw!
Hi bud. You can sideload HBO Max to Firestick yes. Both devices have different services they support. Such as Google TV doesn't have Apple TV which I'm seeing a lot mention. Also ITV Hub has no live TV option in the app whereas the Firestick does. I think mentioning so many things I'm bound to miss things lol. Cheers bud 🍻
I recently downloaded Kodi's Xanax build but when it attempted to install, it stopped, indicating wizard error and a second time, it also failed saying remote communication server failed to start. I had been using Xanax successfully for a long time but recently I couldn't keep real debrid logged in. I kept getting an error message saying..error with URL resolver check error log..., although I reauthorized it several times. I was unable to view any movies. They'll launch but close immediately without opening. This happened using two different fire tv sticks. Do you have any idea as to what's happening? Your help is appreciated.
Just so you know, you can in fact use a fire stick remote as well as a number of any other Bluetooth remotes on the chromecast. Once I figured out how to connect it my fire stick 4K started collecting dust. This Chromecast is basically an Nvidia Shield Jr. And no, I’m not joking when I say that. Netflix streams in 4K as well.
I have both the fire stick 4K and the chrome cast with Google tv. I thought the fire stick would be better but chromecast feels more convenient and faster. It gives the same benefits of fire tv and also allows me to cast from my iPhone. Also the chromecast remote feels better in my hand. Kind of wish it had a button to switch hmdi though. Also wish the chromecast worked well with Alexa like the fire stick.
@@deadstar962 I agree with everything you've said. I have since my last comment bought a USB-C hub with an ethernet port and it is AMAZING! WHile there was no noticably long load times on wifi with the chromecast, with the ethernet connection everything loads even faster and gaming on this thing is awesome! I can't wait til stadia officially arrives!
It'll only stream in 4K if you actually pay for the premium plan if you have the basic plan the best resolution you're going to get is 480p standard best you're going to get is 1080p
Nicer UI is nicer but I use TH-cam, Netflix and Twitch so I don’t rly care about it so firestick 4k with better remote wins! (and also cheaper in my contry)

I assume chromecast with google tv has play store? But is it the full play store, in which case a lot of the apps won't work well if they are intended for phones, or is it restricted form of play store with apps suited to android tv?
The play store on the Chromecast is not the full play store. It does not have every single app from Mobile. It only has a limited amount of apps that are built just for Google TV so intern you will not be able to download android games and play them on your phone.
The new Google TV shits on the firestick just on WiFi connectivity alone you get way better speeds on the Google TV the firestick has shocking WiFi connectivity

I've got the new chromecast and I love it just bought a usb c hub and now I can run it of ethernet and get more storage run like a dream

I wouldn't replace any existing 4k firesticks you have but if you are in the market for a new device the chromecast is better IMO.

I actually got the Chromecast with Google tv recently (free) and I have it setup with the same third party apps as my 4k fire sticks, both work great.

There are some apps with free channels but the fire stick doesn't have any channels setup out of the box. I use paid services and those work great...

I own both and my Google tv is miles faster to load up. Why didn't you use the speech option when you was typing on downloader?
Using speech recognition wouldn't show navigation. The tests did show Chromecast was a little faster at loading applications yes.

I have a FireTV 4K in my bedroom but I still prefer to watch my amazing Apple TV 4K in the living room the quality is soooo much better
I never see HBO Max mentioned in this battle. Fire stick does not inherently support it, but CCGTV does. Do you guys use workarounds, or do you not care about HBO Max? I feel like Fire and Roku are trending toward playing more and more hardball with content providers, whereas CCGTV seems more open. Thoughts? Great video btw!
Hi bud. You can sideload HBO Max to Firestick yes. Both devices have different services they support. Such as Google TV doesn't have Apple TV which I'm seeing a lot mention. Also ITV Hub has no live TV option in the app whereas the Firestick does. I think mentioning so many things I'm bound to miss things lol.

I still like both Firetv 4k & Tivo sticks over the Google chrome stick.
I recently downloaded Kodi's Xanax build but when it attempted to install, it stopped, indicating wizard error and a second time, it also failed saying remote communication server failed to start. I had been using Xanax successfully for a long time but recently I couldn't keep real debrid logged in. I kept getting an error message saying..error with URL resolver check error log..., although I reauthorized it several times. I was unable to view any movies. They'll launch but close immediately without opening. This happened using two different fire tv sticks.
Do you have any idea as to what's happening? Your help is appreciated.

Just so you know, you can in fact use a fire stick remote as well as a number of any other Bluetooth remotes on the chromecast. Once I figured out how to connect it my fire stick 4K started collecting dust. This Chromecast is basically an Nvidia Shield Jr. And no, I’m not joking when I say that. Netflix streams in 4K as well.
I have both the fire stick 4K and the chrome cast with Google tv. I thought the fire stick would be better but chromecast feels more convenient and faster. It gives the same benefits of fire tv and also allows me to cast from my iPhone. Also the chromecast remote feels better in my hand. Kind of wish it had a button to switch hmdi though. Also wish the chromecast worked well with Alexa like the fire stick.
@@deadstar962 I agree with everything you've said. I have since my last comment bought a USB-C hub with an ethernet port and it is AMAZING! WHile there was no noticably long load times on wifi with the chromecast, with the ethernet connection everything loads even faster and gaming on this thing is awesome! I can't wait til stadia officially arrives!
It'll only stream in 4K if you actually pay for the premium plan if you have the basic plan the best resolution you're going to get is 480p standard best you're going to get is 1080p
I say use what works for you, I like FS 4K , but I have never used anything else.
Nicer UI is nicer but I use TH-cam, Netflix and Twitch so I don’t rly care about it so firestick 4k with better remote wins! (and also cheaper in my contry)

Do you have to use Downloader to install 3rd party apps? Can't you use Google Chrome instead in the Chromecast?
I assume chromecast with google tv has play store? But is it the full play store, in which case a lot of the apps won't work well if they are intended for phones, or is it restricted form of play store with apps suited to android tv?
The play store on the Chromecast is not the full play store. It does not have every single app from Mobile. It only has a limited amount of apps that are built just for Google TV so intern you will not be able to download android games and play them on your phone.
The new Google TV shits on the firestick just on WiFi connectivity alone you get way better speeds on the Google TV the firestick has shocking WiFi connectivity
