Hi Raul! Great video! I have a Mazda 3 2004 2.0L with about 76000km giving me the same problem. The AT light comes up and then it doesn't shift into the 4th gear. Downshifting is also VERY erratic when it comes on. I ran the codes and it pulled up a P0773 (Shift Solenoid 'E' Electrical). I had it checked by an 'expert' who changed the oil and filter but the problem persists (our technicians here basically don't know what they're doing). I want to get the repair kit like yours and have him change it. Hopefully that works.
Well, your transmission and mine are a little different I think but “they do share the same solenoids...”..and your transmission control module is built-in the engine control module...or with the brains....mine is separate...but the code should point to the same issue as mine. I hope it helps...so far my issue is gone and it’s been a while...these solenoids are crap from the start...

One more thing when i put it on reverse the car kinda jumps lil bit is it a sign of bad transmission of do i just need to replace the Shift solenoids ? He tried everything he could - even went as far as overhauling the transmission, but nothing worked. The problem only went away when he changed the brains (ECM). Like Raul said, our TCM is built-in the ECM. So changing the ECM effectively changed the TCM in his case. I think that would be the only solution to mine too. But getting a new ECM in my area is kinda difficult and I really don't trust our 'experts' here to do a good job of that. I may just dispose the car for cheap when I feel I've had enough. What are the codes now? Run the car parked until engine temp is warm or at normal operating temp…..pull out the transmission dipstick and check BOTH SIDES OF THE dipstick level…if one side is high and other is low….then your low on fluid…….it’s tricky because the one side is high right and the other side is low …I figured it out on a Toyota and my Mazda and some other TH-cam vids………ITS EITHER LOW ON FLUID OR A BAD WIRE CONNECTION…..assuming you new solenoids are good….I got a bad one new….
@@car-u-fix-it8070 the same code popped on p0766... at operating temperature the atf is at the 65'C mark so it's enough fluid. I checked the wires and connectors they were good too. hai bro, i have change the input sensor 2 weeks past, the AT alarm still appears during speed 45 t0 50 km/h. The alarm code still the same P0791. the alarm reset sometime by itself after few start.. but i still can drive in D mode smoothly... will planned to change the solenoid..
I think it's your VSS sensor that's messed up.... The one on the shaft itself... Way behind engine... Right above the passenger axle... The intermediate part of axle next to transmission.... I have a video on VSS sensor location...
Early i have change the topup VSS sensor with new one, alarm still appear, then i saw your video you mention just now, i change the VSS sensor right above the passanger axle with the top sensor ( use back ) , the alarm still appear.
Well, new input sensor new output sensor and VSS sensor correct?... 3 total sensors..... I used CRC ELECTRICAL CONTACT CLEANER ON ALL sensor connectors... Unplug... Spray.... Then "dielectric grease".... Very important in the crappy mazda connections... They harness to each sensor is soo bad... They are loose, so dielectric grease works great...... How old is the TCM ORIGINAL?
I would clean all 3 sensor connectors... Add dielectric grease to connectors and see if it will clear.... P0791.... The sensor is not communicating to TCM... sensor wires bad, or bad new sensor...... But it might be the TCM is fried and going out already....... Try the spray and grease first as it's cheaper.....
Thanks for sharing the video. Cool. I have a Mazda5 2009 and the DTC code says P0753 - Shift Solenoid A Electrical. How would I know which one is for solenoid A in my case? How did you find out that solenoid is E in your case?. Thanks in advance. Appreciate.
I googled a diagram....and I just ordered the entire solenoid valve body with all the solenoids attached...it was cheap and I figured I would need them later in life. .....we have two solenoid A’s ...a pressure solenoid and a shift solenoid...one is bigger than the other...so yours is “shift” solenoid A....www.mazda3tech.com/solenoid_valve_removal_installation_fs5_a_el_-1050.html
Look at the diagram I sent you and you should be able to identify the right one....once your under the car...I would order the whole valve body as it may be $49.99 and since your car is older the rest of solenoids might start to give out like mine.....when u remove the valve cover...it’s easy when you have the valve body and just replace solenoid by solenoid...WARNING..YOU WONT BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE VALVE BODY JUST SOLENOID BY SOLENOID...valve body is attached crazy to the trans valve body and you don’t want to remove that...

Nice video it helped me a lot. I have a mazda3 2008 2.0L I had a code p0766 (solenoid d) I changed every solenoid using your video for guidance. I replaced the filter, gasket and fluid as well. I turned off the check engine light with my obd2 scanner. I turned the car on and I was able to switch gears with no problems as to before It would jerk in R and D. I drove out the driveway and the car slipped into 3rd gear and check engine light and at light popped back on acceleration was slow. Any help please
I even did a shortage test on the wires. I had a parasitic draw for interior lights only. I changed every solenoid and yes they were all brand new so they're good. I don't have a TCM so can it be the PCM?
@@nawwsh2694 yeah, your model has an integrated pcm/tcm as one unit…..man this is a hard one: SO FAR I got a possible speed sensor going out or the pcm is defective…..since you have the 2.0L it’s a bit different than 2.3 ……..This is what I would do…: do an electrical wire check …maybe undo the pan and check solenoid connectors…then a new speed sensor from ebay…$16 bucks….last….reprogram pcm or try a junkyard one….if I come up with Something else I will let you know….good luck and don’t give up….I spent $1000 dollars the first year we bought the Mazda with 60k miles…on electrical crap….
@@car-u-fix-it8070 alright thanks for the help I appreciate it! Keep up the good work. I'll be bacc with results
What was the final outcome? I have the similar 2.0 08 Mazda. Replaced the PCM first but 3rd gear slip continued. Now going to look at replacing solenoids but skeptical after reach your reply and information.
hai bro, i have change the input sensor 2 weeks past, the AT alarm still appears during speed 45 t0 50 km/h.
@@car-u-fix-it8070 the car itself is 2008 model.. i believe the TCM still original from factory
What’s the link to the kit plz
Hi im having P0772 mazda 5 2013..my question is ..are all solenoid can mix up? Is the solenoid A B C are the same exactly with solenoid E..i been searching in ebay the solenoid E but its just says Aand B
Where do i need to buy the solenoid? Any website for the part?
eBay
Does it matter which solenoid goes into what spot?
Yes….and no….the two small ones with green tabs are the same crap…..and so are two big ones….
Hey man, now that we are 7 months later, is your fix still working? How’s it running/shifting?
Hi Robert, it’s running fine....I had a thermostat gone bad but everything else is fine
You promised a follow up in this video to let us know if it fixed ut.
@@leegriffith5159 no issues since repair.
What year bud?
2009 Mazda 5...what I drive
Los 2 esos que cambiaste son iguales
Yea , same
I’m having a issue where car won’t go in reverse sometimes and it’s hard shifting, but I already sent tcm out for repair with upfix.com and I’m still experiencing the same issues, any idea? Thx
I would buy a new tcm …I don’t endorse no repair company. I replaced mine with a new tcm out of Florida Mazda…it cost me $450 new…but call any Mazda dealership and ask the price for a new tcm…from what I have read, the rebuilt tcm’s don’t work all the time….I don’t think you have other issues aside from tcm but it’s just my personal opinion and not a professional…diy at your own risk…best wishes. …ask for another tcm
Sounds good and thx , I’ll reply
Did you ever fix it?
