You can also take a screenshot to clipboard using CMD+CTRL+SHIFT+4 and then CMD+v to paste it somewhere like in notes. Very handy for not cluttering up screenshots folder.

A further screen shot option: Command+Shift+4 then press space bar. It will display a camera icon and you can select a window to capture.

Screenshots - When using CMD-SHIFT-4 and then toggling fullscreen/window... when selecting a region, you can hold the SPACEBAR to move the origin/box around in case you didn't start at quite the right spot...

I totally love learning how to do Mac magic! Combined with AppleScript, cliclick (allows command line control of the mouse and typing and can be activated from a script using "do shell script...), and FastScripts for setting keyboard shortcuts to scripts, I can shortcut anything and make my Mac perform manually time consuming, complex functions with a keyboard combination. I love watching my Mac perform complex processes without any mousing or keyboarding from me! These kinds of videos are awesome!

Brilliant, thx so much. I've been using a Mac for 30 years, and watched so many of these tips vids. In this one I learned four things I'd never ever seen before or knew about. I've just subscribed!! I keep a Stickie note with all my fave tips in it and only delete one from the list when I'm confident that I've learned it by memory.

Some shortcuts mentioned in the video date from before Mac OS X, and one only appeared in Monterey, so it is still improving.

Thanks! There are some real gems here. Regarding the hot corners, I have my lower right hand corner designated as Desktop. Works great EXCEPT, if I happen to have my iPad nearby and active, in which case moving my Mac cursor to the lower right hand corner simply makes it appear on the iPad.😤 (see that - I just used one of your tips!).

Funny thing. Most of the things you tell I already know as a long time hardcore Mac user (who still has also a PC in house, but 3 Mac's 2 Iphones and 2 Ipads). However, I still come back, because sometimes you come with little details (like the shadow) I did not know about and are super handy to know. But the most important is, that your way of presenting, with a low voice, taking the time, but not that I wanne go to sleep is so good, that I needed al those words to compliment you on that.

If I may ask, could u pls look for an app that consolidates all keyboard shortcuts and provides a list with overlapping key bindings? In that way, we can assign, edit and check for repeated key binding actions.
    Thanks mate.

    • @ProperHonestTech
      @ProperHonestTech  ปีที่แล้ว

I’m currently considering options for how to distribute more long-form content like that (other than a ‘quick tips’ video, a guide to Pages would be more of a video course than a video) - but the short answer is ‘yes’, definitely considering it. 🙂

Terrific video. These can all be used by a novice or advanced Mac user. You probably have heard this before but in your videos your lighting is not very visible. You continue to appear in the dark. Even when I turn up my brightness to the highest level that does not help.
Thanks for the FN key=Emojis. I had no idea that was possible. I never liked using Control>Command>Space

It is also worth mentioning that the shift-command-5 option is only present since macOS Mojave 10.14; it wasn't present tthe macOS High Sierra 10.13.
Also, Apple has never called their "backspace" as such... the button has always been called "delete"; the apple terminology is "delete" and "delete forward"... everything else you say on the subject is perfect... it is just one of those Apple jargons...
Another funny thing with Apple jargon, the Apple helpdesk, both call in support and the genius, have been explicitly instructed to not call the hand-held computers as laptops. Every time a customer uses the term, the Apple employee will pretend like they don't understand the term "laptops" and then eventually say that "Apple makes notebook computers"; I have always found their insistence on that assertion funny... 😂
Thanks for the tips... I didn't know a few of them, despite being a Mac user since 1998...

I';ll throw one in. When booting up, if, on hearing the chime, your hold down Commans+V, you wioll see the verbose output for the boot sequence. Most the tome, this is unnecessary, but if you are encountering any boot issues, it can be a life saver. If you re running a modern Mac OS on an unsupported system, using some kind of patcher, it is particularly invaluable.

Is there a way to sort and just show files created a specific date? not ascending or descending, but to just show files created on a specific date selected, or from a folder containing multitudes of file formats, we want to sort and display only specific ones rather than sort by file type.
    Windows has that.
Is there any way to do that in Mac?

Cmd + Shift + 4 followed by the spacebar will allow you to take a screenshot of a window, rather than the full screen of a (manual) selection.

I am in Big Sur, the 'remove pic shadow' doesn't change using your idea. But this shadow is on ALL windows, and a screenshot is just treated like another window. This becomes a problem when trying to paste two pics together. I would like this shadow to go on ALL type windows. Any suggestion appreciated.

Not that it matters but, Newer Macs do have a DELETE button, which perform like Win's BACKSPACE (del what's left of cursor).
To del text right of the cursor: FN + DELETE

Microsoft Word using three dots at the end of a menu command is a symptom of their software's poor quality. The Apple Human Interface Guidelines clearly says “Append an ellipsis to a menu item’s label when people need to provide additional information before the action can complete.”
An Ellipsis … looks almost like 3 dots ... but an Ellipsis is a single character. On macOS, an ellipsis can be inserted with Option-Semicolon (;) on an English language keyboard.
