Man, I was thinking about building a stick/hitbox from the ground up for the first time as a fun personal project for me and this vid happens to show up in my feed. Destiny.
Man I’m glad this came up in my recs, been thinking of building a hitbox styled controller and this seems like a better place to start than going full diy-ing and enclosure with tools I’d have to buy for 1 use. Thanks man!
just ordered a korean noir BNB clear stick kit this morning for the new Knee Neo with the capsule top and some really pretty translucent red CROWN buttons, can't wait to get it and put everything together I am extremely excited! love the look of the BNB cases!
I was lucky enough to be able to order one around October last year. Immediately after shipping, Art Hong put out the shutdown notice. ): I don't think anyone else has the level of customization the Tek Case builder did with regards to auxiliary buttons.
@@jonyfraze For sure. So I'm dating myself, but last time I played fighting games was in the mid 90s with SF2, MK, and KI. Which modern fighting game would be a good one to start with?
I dealt with Laugh about 10 years back. Sold me some parts (Joystick and buttons) for a Korean Candy Cab I had (Crowin Case 203). Really nice guy and shipped me the parts pretty quickly. I believe this was back when he had just started Etokki or right before the site launched.
Man I got an idea for custom stick but got no idea if anyone can build it. So when I saw the Cross-Up, I knew I wanted something like that, joystick with d pad capabilities as well, but on the Cross-Up, the direction buttons are on the right. I want them on the left so my thought is a joystick with Mixbox style awsd controls, that way there's enough room for em as, with the way they're spread out to fit the natural curve of the hand, there just would not be for a Hit-Box style button layout. Do you know anyone that could build this?
I cannot find anyone that sells the cases without holes drilled. I want to drill them myself so I can separate movement and action buttons more and add a right thumb button
It’s because most people just want to a case that’s ready to populate. However I offer a custom layout service on my 4TW cases. jonyfraze.bigcartel.com/category/4tw
To be fair some people do not want to brand themself as a company if they're just doing themself. Using social media is a good way to just take the few custom orders you do yourself.
I'm looking at getting my first 'does everything' stick for MiSTer, loads of really nice ones out there, information overload lol, I like Eternal Rivals, thanks for the list
I used a PAS Excellence Model T for my fight stick and I love it for the most part. There's a couple things I'm not crazy about, but the stick works and looks good and that what matters most to me
@@itsmekaaa9635 cool! i may just do my own thing anyway, kaimana has a couple limitations i wasnt initially aware of. would be cool to add kaimana code to a brook board and just output led data directly off an extra pin but i dont see that happening having it be a separate board prevents any input lag issues it would possibly have anyway
Very nice video and good guide, i hope if you can next videos to talk about rubber foot or similar options for fighsticks and where is possible to buy someones.
Great video. I built an Eternal Rivals Vegeta stick, which is now in their gallery. It is a nice, lightweight enclosure and the customer service is great, including getting your art squared away. I also built two AFS sticks, 14" and 18". They weigh a ton, but i like it. The massive, ultra heavy 18" enclosure is my favorite. It allows you to play more aggressively, no joke. It feels like you are playing on an arcade cab. Not good for lugging around. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these. Again, great video.
thanks man, good thing your getting ahead of your game. iam going to make my own stick controller. iam using keyboard to play street fighter 5 on my gaming pc on steam. i will be fixing my connection issue soon, might need new router.
You can't go wrong with Foe Hammer Shop. I have that DIY one Focus Attack sold 8 years ago and one of their Stealth ones painted in a metallic black. Both top notch.
Seems like the majority of the DIY joystick industry has something against manufacturing cases that fit American HAPP or IL style joysticks. Everything is made with Asian style sticks in mind. That's why I'm glad I got my Xarcade Solo Stick that I modded out. I actually have 2 of them now.
I hear ya, I grew up in the 90s and played on HAPP/IL parts in arcades myself. Unfortunately American style parts started phasing out during the sf4 era where Japanese vewlix style cases became popular. But stay tuned, some of my colleagues are working some some solutions for your concerns.. 😉
Big fan of your BNB friend of mine showed me his and I immediately blown away then I bought my own. I just love how light it all is. Its bloody amazing! I added in a couple of extras Bought some cable holders to swing the cable around like the victrix has Added rubber padding at the bottom inspired by the TE2+ What would I change/add? Somewhere to add a leather handle to carry it around Place store the EX groove when I detach it Touchpad PS4 touchpad interface (if such a thing exists) I don't know if this is possible though but its just something I'm actively looking for.
Some real good options presented here. I'd be interested to know which of these makers get down with weird/specific customization requests. When making my boombox fightstick I had some very specific needs. A BNB fightstick case was actually my first choice, but you (jony) told me you couldn't do what I wanted and instead pointed me to AFS. They were able to fill my request, and everything came out great. It wasn't an easy task for myself or AFS, but the end result is something I'm very proud of. I've got another goofy custom idea, and I'm not sure what case to run with. I know AFS can pull off what I want, but I like to try something new/different with each build and wouldn't mind giving one of these other builders a shot. Also it may just be me and my love for bigger cases (I bought the 18" case), but I feel like the metal cases are a bit on the heavier side than acrylic ones. Do you happen to know if any of these other builders can add extra holes and/or cutouts to their cases, or would it be best to just contact each builder directly?
not sure if this going to be seen or not but what if I wanted the case to have a custom shape or to mod the pre existing design of a case how much extra do you think that would end up being?
Damn! Wish I had seen your video and work before I bought an X-Arcade Tankstick. OK but bigger than I wanted and no customer support. I just knew newer innovation was out there but couldn't find it. Wish someone would think of us Virtual Pinball players who want a good stick with side buttons and a nice trackball.
There's a guy in New Zealand called acrycade, he does awesome acrylic cases.. probably the best I have seen for the region... Are you aware of anything else in Australia/New Zealand?
Are there any custom chassis's that are easy to Mod like rather than taking off all the screws and flipping it over? I know the Panthera and some Madcatz do it but I can't find any empty chassis for those specifically.
I just got into emulation over a year ago. I've decided I want a fightstick but I also want it with a 2.25" trackball. I can't find a single retailer with such a combination except for the Atari Fight Stick. Why is that? Would you suggest one of these custom DIYers who could design such a box?
what would you recommend for a layout where the lever and buttons are not super close together? that's what i dont like about the obsidian or most entry level fightsticks
