Im going to make some of these rubs next year on our 300 acre farm. There are lots of good bucks, but it sure would be nice to isolate them in a few areas

I'm very interested in this horizontal rub. I don't have Red pine in my area (Atlantic Canada - Nova Scotia). What would be some alternates to red pine?
Put my first horizontal rub up this year...worked like a charm shot a pretty decent buck got lots of photos and still getting photos but I couldn’t get them to use the mock scrape ...they literally would walk five yards away and make a scrape from the rub ..not use the one I made right beside the horizontal rub ...not sure why
Ted, how long do you wait to go back in after a hunt at that particular set up besides waiting on the wind? I ask because I’m sure some of your scent is left behind and do you notice a difference in trail cam data from the last time was you was there from a show no-show perspective on certain bucks you’re after? Thanks bub!
What is the annual timeline for a horizontal rub? He puts it out in October, then hunts over it in November. Does he take it down during the off season or just leave it out year round?
Bradley Jett Yes, Osage orange, hedge apple is correct. Here they are known as bow d’arc, the wood is split into staves to use in building bows. In some areas the deer eat the fruit.
