Heaalth insurance is mandatory, but when you look for a specialist or a good GP, they don't accept new patients. (Rarely accept outside main cities). So be prepared to wait 6 or more months to find an appointment with a rheumatologist, for example.
Unfortunately yea. In the private system you often don’t have to wait longer than a few days.
very productive video. Thanks
Glad you liked it!
Our basic AOK insurance covers anything dental except cosmetic things.
Treatment - most of it yeah. Professional cleaning, bracers, dental replacements or modern treatments are not covered or with high copay
4:29 This would be preferable, compared to paying insurance and not finding doctors. The price is not very big if you pay from your pocket upfront
But what if it’s a bigger issue you didn’t see coming ?
I think one problem apart from demographics (more retired oldies and less young people working comparatively) is really the amount of unneccessary checks and procedures which cost so much money.. e.g. my young bouyfriend did a health check and they told him he might have cholesterol and he has a bad lung. sent him to a specialist. they did extensive testing to find out he has nothing, the tests the GP did were just absolutely wrong and badly performed... this has happened in my circle of people multiple times. completely unneccesary procedures were done, medications prescribed for things which are either not there or not fixable.
OK that is totally weird. Because in my case and people I know, the GP doesn't give any checks, one has to insist even beg to get some tests done. But I suppose it depends on the GP and the general policy of doctors in the area.

27:05 what if you lose your job for a month: can you drop the private insurance? (because the annual income may be dropped under the limit required for private insurance)
If it’s only for a limited period of time and you know the cap will be reached again soon you can fill a form to stay in the private
Hi Ahsan, great videos man. Could you please confirm when the salary cap of 66,700EUR will be refreshed? Thank you

19:56 How can the spouse join a private insurance system without income? Wasn't there an income cap limit? Hm...
Because the system is like this - you can only choose the system if you don’t have an income or you exceed the cap. On top of it self employed people and officials can choose to join whether they have the cap or not
@@marcelkunz_finanzen wow, okay thank you for the answer!
Thanks for the comment Marcel 👍🏽
11:59 that is not always the case
Me and my clients didn’t have any waiting time that im aware of or you what do you mean ?
@@marcelkunz_finanzen I don't live in a big city and in this area even my family doctor, which is privately insured, had difficulties finding appointment with a specialist in time.
Sometimes in Smaller cities there can be issues

I plan to leave Germany after getting my citizenship (maybe a 1.5 year from now), maybe return after 10 years or never. I have TK now, should I switch to a private insurance or keep TK ? what would happen if I come back to Germany ? thanks
Well depending on how much you earn, it can be beneficial to switch to Private insurance. I recommend you book an appointment with Marcel and share your exact details with him (ahsanfinance.com/marcel)
