    Really interesting video, even as a German to compare the prices. What I'm missing is the fact that many of these insurances come in packages and options for wealth-creation. Meaning that if you do not need the insurance, you will get at least the money you paid all the years back. It's like they are managing your money investing in stock market. One example could be BU + retirement + life insurance, so either you could get pension after 6 months not being able to work or additional retirement or your family will get the money.

    Maybe a tip - do compare health insurances on check24 or something, I also opted for TK when I just arrived to Germany (was told it's the one everyone gets), but compared the companies later and realized there are other companies, that offer more and... cost less! Saved 10Eur a months (hello Disney+ :D) and get my teeth cleaning partially covered, too!

    It's really important to have the BU (disability insurance) as young as possible, bc they really can deny you their service based on your medical history. For me as a person with lots of therapy and some mental health diagnoses I could still get a BU but they wouldn't cover in any case of mental illness.

      @fannychristozova8158 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So you're saying that what makes it so much advisable to seek it the younger the better, is the prospect of more medical history, not your age in itself. I for example, knock on wood, haven't had any medical history of illnesses (aside from catching cold every now and then), and I'm already a bit past my 30's. Will that make it difficult for me to get just based on my age?

Unfortunately I did not qualify for Ottonova so now I am scrambling to apply to some other insurances and they all have a wait for 5-7 business days after submitting!

    • @simplegermany
      @simplegermany  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, yes you can change between public health insurance providers. Just check with your current one what is the minimum amount you have to be with them. Most public health insurance require that you are with them 24 or 48 months. If you have already completed that time, you just need to sign-up to the new one and they will cancel your contract with the old health insurance provider. Another choice, is to contact the new public health insurance provider and ask them if you can sign-up with them :) hope that helps!

    Could you please elaborate on information about health insurance add-ons? In my country, people are insured by law as long as they are employed. However, it is possible to purchase add-ons for additional, better, or higher-quality services. I was wondering if something similar exists in Germany, where someone insured publicly (in my case by TK) could purchase add-ons such as a private room in a hospital or quicker access to specialists, similar to private insurance.

    • @DavidReinhardInVertas

As I am renting a furnished apartment and I don't own any valuable stuff I currently don't have a Hausratversicherung. Super informative video, thanks. Two small questions:
    1. While living as a tenant in Germany, if there are any damages in my house(e.g. molds or wooden floor damage), which insurance covers it?
    2. If there are damages caused in other apartment of my building due to e.g. water leakage from my apartment, is it private liability insurance that covers this situation?

    • @simplegermany
      @simplegermany  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1. That highly depends. In our research, we found that mold is typically not covered by insurance but it depends on the case.
      2. Yes!

    • @bjorn6530
      @bjorn6530 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@simplegermany 2. "leakage" is not specified here in more details.
      In case e.g. bath tub is overruning as not paying enough attention to it private liability insurance might take over.
      Any defect on fresh- and/or sewage water pipes causing overflow (in other appartments) is in responsability of the owner of the house/appartment. "Gebäudeversicherung" (building insurance) should cover it. So, this is not in responsibility of the tenant. Owners often try to blame it to their tenants anyway. Be aware!

      I assume you mean the 8% thing within the paycheck taxes. As a Bulgarian myself too, first I feel you.. But are you sure you mean 135 EUR and not BGN? Because then you must be getting paid waay above average (for our standards). 🙂

    • @angelzhelyazkov
      @angelzhelyazkov ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fannychristozova8158 I'm sure. :)
      It's 8% of the income (if you tend to use sick leave, otherwise it is 7%), but since mine is above 2000EUR the amount for health insurance is 135€/month. As a Bulgarian, you're probably aware that we get almost nothing for that money when we need medical treatment.

      @@angelzhelyazkov Yes!! Angel, I couldn't agree more. The pitiful truth is it all *looks* like a working healthcare system, but it feels like a mockery. Sorry if I was being a little edgy to you, just your first comment sounded to me maybe a bit misleading for someone who hasn't experienced life in Bulgaria. 🙂 I'll be moving to Germany towards the fall and I know there will be a few hurdles and perhaps excessive carefulness around, but in the end of the day all that matters is to finally know my worth and live in a mirrоr-like envirоnment, which Germany is - the way people and counry treat you will be a reflection of your attitude and your efforts, in stark contrast to our 'мила родина'. 😜

    Hey Ladies 👋
    I Have a question please, hoping you know about this. I am signed up to public insurance with Barmer, and recently had to remove my wisdom tooth which is covered usually by public insurance. But before the surgery they had to do a 3D scan which was necessary before the operation, and they did tell me this is NOT covered usually by the public insurance but rather the private. However, i was told by friends that still because this 3D scan is technically part of the operation and such, then after i pay for the scan i can send my invoice and proof of payment to the insurance company and they should reimburse. 2 at least told me have done the same. Is this really possible?

      The coverage in the public insurance just keeps getting worse and worse. If you have the possibillity (healthy + 70k+ salary) I would consider switching to private health insurance. We recently made a video about this, also with the possibility to speak to an expert that compares all the private health insurances in Germany and helps you make the right choice, feel free to check it out.

    Great videos! I am a German-turned Canadian because I chose Canadian citizenship after I married in Canada but my children who were born when I was still a German, all have the German passport. The younger children don't, because I was Canadian when they were born. So now one of my daughters with dual citizenship is moving to Germany after she got her Masters in violin performance and is planning to audition at orchestras. So health insurances seems a bit complicated initially, before she has a job. Do you know if she can get Expat Insurance as a dual citizen? Someone told me Germans can't get it but she is also Canadian? Thank you and I will get her to subscribe to your channel!

      Best insurance is not to buy that of a costly mobile. ;-) I've never paid more than 300 bucks for a mobile.
      That aside, i would be way more intimidated about my credentials getting abused/stolen than about the mobile itself. That's the least you'd have to worry, when a steal would actually happen.

    I want to know how life insurance agencies are doing with all the "vaccinated" lab rats having side effects from their mRNA shots.

    • @fannychristozova8158
      @fannychristozova8158 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Life insurance agencies will be happy to address your question. Have you tried asking it with this exact phrasing first, before pooping it here? (oops, the Ginger is correcting me to mean 'popping' it')

    • @RustyDust101
      @RustyDust101 ปีที่แล้ว

      Considering that roughly of the roughly 60million 'lab rats' who've been vaccinated there have been only a very tiny minority with long term side effects the life insurances are still going to be very very happy with the vaccinations. Because life insurances also have to pay for death by disease. Here it boils down to the cost-and-effect calculations.
      The number of people with long term side effects is startlingly small, compared to standard vaccinations. With the roughly 4.5 BILLION people already vaccinated, the total number of long term side effects all around the planet are still number in only the hundreds of cases.
      If you take how many lives were saved, and how many lives have NOT had to suffer from long covif effects, the life insurances will be falling to their knees in praise of the vaccines.
      So please, get off your conspiracy trip, find real information, and stop spinning the stupid narrative. It's already been a dead horse when it was started. It is currently definitely in the 'decomposing' time frame.
