@@eternalprogression I’m looking forward to it! I’m making a flying car at my school with my RC club which is convertible like yours, but rather than fold out wings mine has wings that are attached with rubber bands and then can be taken off for driving around.

The support for Android phones was all the update I needed to hear from this project. Thank you so much for that. I'll be looking forward to seeing the eventual release of the controller's final retail build.
This is basically what I've always wanted out of a phone controller. I want this ASAP! Got my notifications on and I am EAGER to pre-order! Thank you for making this a reality.
The journey from the prototype to where it is now is unbelievable. This is the first piece of gaming tech where the person making it is part of the community and understand what we need, using torx screws was an instant tell.
Hell yeah! This project needs the most coverage possible. I'm gonna share it with everyone, from the grandma that sells baked goods in my street, to the dog that chases me when i pass by him on my bicycle.
Russ from Retro Game Corps has all the good ideas for improvements and I am really happy to see him getting the shout out. Nice job on your perseverance man excited to join the kickstarter
The quick launch feature is *SUCH* a good idea, I worried that sliding the original design with your fingers might end up pushing the whole thing off of the phone, instead of just popping out the controller. I miss the DS era of handheld consoles that could fit in your pocket, and this might just be the answer.
Not to mention that the joysticks are still protected. The fold out stocks are an absolute power move too. I really hope this takes off. Because this market is SUPER undersupplied despite the demand.
Oh snap is literally my favorite phone accessory for years, as an engineering major with a desire to work in product design when I am done with school; this video and update to your journey genuinely made me feel so warm and hopeful for my future. I appreciate this video and hope to see and hear more in the future. Oh and definitely count me in for this thing once you need backers.
Nice you actually added foldable handle wings! Something that's been living rent free in my head for years along with a magnetic mounted controller! Good stuff
OK as a dad the silent buttons is SOOOOO refreshing. I love tactile keyboards but sometimes you just want silence! Everything is just too damn clicky and just thank you thank you for the sweet sound of silence.
I've searched everywhere for a slide controller for smartphones. Just the idea of being able to use the phone with the controller attached, and the whole thing being pocketable. I even built 3 prototypes out of other controllers. But the sliding mechanism and my lack of PCB knowledge never let me go further. So I focused on University instead. I'm so happy to see that something like this is finally available and that you made it and the idea wasn't just my stupid idea. Nice one, I hope everything works out for you. One Idea for an addition I had was an integrated Powerbank and a metal cooling plate on the back of the phone. Maybe you can make use of it. I'm gonna get one and maybe try the mods myself. Great work!
This has to be the coolest mobile gaming thing since the Sony Xperia play. I want this badly. Also thank you for not making it an iPhone exclusive. I just hope you know youve made peoples dream real.
Ah, Sony. Always letting money slip right through their fingers. You'd think their recent announcement of getting back to the handheld market (with a Portable Gaming PC if they know what's good for them) would also get them to bring back Xperia Play. You'd think.
I was looking forward for a new Xperia Play since 2017; it made sense to me as the next Sony handheld to compete against a home/handheld hybrid with a phone/handheld hybrid when you already have a solidified home ecosystem with the PS4 and a mobile branch with the Xperia phones, with porting Vita game to Android and everything. i've been scratching that itch with retro handhelds but I'm still carrying two devices in my pocket. If Sony is not interested in making a Xperia Play, then this is the next best option no doubt.
When I thought this idea could not get any better... then you added the fold-out grips. Just... wow. Such a simple, great idea. It looks amazing; cannot wait to buy one and support this effort!
I read a lot of comments on the first video asking you to make this a real product, but I never thought that you were actually going to put in the insane amount of work required to make it a reality. Congratz and good luck.
I’m happy to see this made it beyond the idea/prototype phase. For people who loved the psp go and Xperia play, this is perfect. Anyone who owned the Xperia play eventually got to the point where they just wanted a better version. This is perfect! Now we will always be able to keep our pocket gaming current. Thanks again for sticking with it.
I immediately watched this and went to go back this as an early bird. Was delighted to see it not only meet its goal but that there were such few slots left. I'm glad so many see the potential in this! Way to go, I wish you success, and hopefully I get to see a controller in my hands in the near future!
This project went from a dream, to a silent memory, to a real prospective game changer. What a rollercoaster. You can expect me on the kickstarter page day one with a Futurama fistful of cash.
Watching this video with my ohsnap propping up my iPhone! Been following you ever since that first video. Glad you persevered and worked with Dale. Will be ready in early January for my kickstarter pledge!
I've been following this project for several months now and I'm really impressed with everything you've accomplished. I hope when it's available for the general public to buy, I can purchase it with great pleasure. I'm really excited. Greetings from El Salvador.
I've been waiting for something like this for ages. I had gotten the Razer Kisihi Ultra recently and as amazing as it is, carrying it around is not convenient as this. I can't wait!
Wow, this is exactly what I need for my specific use! I’ve recently been looking at the new Redmagic gaming phone, and the biggest issue I had was the lack of a micro sd slot. I could get an adapter, but that gets in the way of a telescopic controller to fit properly. This not only makes this gaming phone setup 1000x more portable, but it indirectly solves the issue with the lack of expandable storage on most modern phones simply by having the charging port free from any blockage! Thank you for making this and I look forward to buying it hopefully soon
Freelance Illustrator/graphic designer here. At times I'm on the road and need to use my phone to connect to my home computer BUT I wish I had a portable keyboard and mouse to make navigating it much easier. Would be amazing if this technology/idea can be applied there too. Awesome work!
Excel on mobile works very well for me since I'm very often on the road. So I double this idea! Maybe a mini trackball like on a blackberry would be possible with the keyboard. A layered numpad so that the main keys are still centered would be fantastic. There's a lot they can do with this design and I hope they capitalize on it!
Yes! I was messing around with remote desktop the other day and now I really want one with a mouse and trackpad!!! it would be like a cyber deck computer. Definitely looking into it.

So happy to discover this and is actually getting into a production phase. Being on events, I spend long hours of setting up stuff ln the venue and have to stay until the event ends. This would literally be a great way for me to pass time and make my gaming way more comfortable. The fact that it fits the pocket is a huge plus. I can’t wait to purchase this.

Good idea on the time stamp; was tempted to also comment that but was worried dum dums wouldn't watch the whole video and blow me up for being rude or something. Josh, this is a hella cool idea and I'm happy to have been following it so I can say with confidence that you have done a lot of great work to bring this brain child to life. Good job!
Congrats!!! I'm watching this video while holding the Oh Snap grip on my iPhone! I've been following you since you first announced the idea & I couldn't be happier for you! I think it's the perfect partnership for you to take this controller to the next level! Look forward to supporting the Kickstarter! Also hope to eventually see a transparent orange version option available (like the funtastic N64) as I would happily pay a premium for that color choice! Cheers
FINALLY! Jumping on this Kickstarter as soon as it's launched. I have an ROG gaming phone (Android) and the biggest difficulty is lugging my Xbox controller around. Can't wait for this, might finally fulfill the promise the original nVidia shield made oh-so-many years ago. Great work guys, love it.
Great job this looks WAY better then the last version. Those fold out grips seem like a game changer. If you haven't already you should patent that. While I was exited for this controller from the start. The previous version was very similar to what other companies have done in the past. And close to what I pictured in my head when I had this exact same idea years ago. However with those grips you truly made it something unique. Can't wait to get my hand on this. And if it's as good as it looks I'll definitely buy more then 1.
This thing is so freaking cool! I am super glad for an update on the controller, and all that you've accomplished in the time in between- adding more functionality, better compatibility, and better repairability. I am really impressed (and motivated) by seeing what you've done and you bet I'll buy one as soon as their on the market! (if I have money lol) Keep up the good work and good luck. Oh, and Merry Christmas. It is that season.
Looks sick and I laughed a lot at the dig into Valorant players at the end. I hope this becomes a reality - this seems like a great birthday or holiday gift!
Nice to see you’re not far from my neck of the woods. I work in Raleigh as well. Can’t wait to back on kickstarter. looks like the device has come a long way! can’t wait to see where it goes from here
woah this is so cool! i remember watching your other video of the prototype and like for you to bring an actual product to the market is such an inspiration!
The reveal gave me goosebumps. I think you have something here. I feel like gaming is in a down turn. Nothings feeling fresh. I have kids, a wife, job. The little free time I have I watch anime and work out. I used to be a hardcore gamer. Sadly that still persists in my mentality. It’s like I can’t be half way through the door. Either I’m locked in and trying to be the best or I lose interest. There’s no way to game on my ps5 now. The Nintendo switch is like half way there but just isn’t portable enough. I’m actually taking the switch on a trip for the first time right now after how many years?!? The backbone is just …not quick enough. The idea of having to take my phone out of the case plug it in and then take it back out two seconds later just doesn’t work. The build is great of the backbone, it feels great… but it missed the mark. This controller you’ve made could be the future. Phones are getting better which means this will get more and more valuable . Stay ahead of the curve of innovation, people will be trying to steal this and improve upon it.
Reignited my hype since the first prototype video. Congrats on the partnership. Been waiting for a true on-the-go controller that doesn't need a separate cargo pocket.
Wayto go an - must feel good to have found the right partners and built the product you wanted to share with the world. I love OhSnap - big time supporter of this merging
ive always been a mobile gamer, android specifically. i could never afford a pc and even if my phone was TERRIBLE at performance, i had so much fun messing with all the games for it (roblox, minecraft, gta, and even emulation felt so awesome considering this is such a tiny device) but ive always hated how people underestimated mobile gaming and calling it "cheap" or "niche" and people don't really care about it, but you might be one of the first people ive seen take mobile gaming seriously. and i just want to say: thank you. thank you for genuinely giving mobile gaming a chance and for trying to create something that might change it forever.
I love the size of it, looks like all together it isn't thicker than an NDS which is my limit for pocketability. Looking forward to carrying one of these around for sure.
No way!! Hey man I love your videos! I was just watching your video on the Xperia play the other day, hoping you would mention MCON lol! Ya we need to get you a controller and definitely show you one at ces! See you there!
Hey man important suggestion, implement custom weights (like a gaming mouse). If the phone is top-heavy it will be uncomfortable and ruin wrists in the long run. Custom weights will allow users to tune to their phone's weight. Xperia Play was balanced really well IIRC. Also, support for phone cases (essential for everyday use as you mentioned) and last but not least, it just has to be PS Vita dpads 👍🏼
As an old school Xperia Play guy... ...who watched Xperia Play 2 get canceled... then watched the slider model Razer JungleCat get canceled... this feels like redemption 😱 I've got all eyes on this.
Amazing work dude, really enjoyed seeing how your journey progressed. Even though I'm not a mobile phone gamer I'm still a gamer at heart and I can see how this would appeal to those that do enjoy mobile phone gaming. Onwards and upwards
We just need good games to actually play on this. Modern phones could run almost everything up to the Xbox 360 if publishers actually ported them. Forza Motorsport 4. Halo 3. The last of us. Mario Galaxy. Etc. There's endless games that could be playable, but if it's not full of mtx and fomo it's not available.
While it would be nice to have things running natively, there is of course streaming as well. With Xbox game pass you can stream just about anything to your phone to play. That in and of itself justifies the controller existing in my opinion
If this thing gets big enough, they’re definitely coming. Mobile gaming is a massive industry, but the device has never been conducive to the kinds of games it’s capable of with the lack of dedicated controls. I genuinely think this controller has the capability to upset the entire industry. I’ve been on the fence for years about buying a backbone because it’s a controller, but just not what I want. This is it. This is the modern adult DS I’ve been dreaming of and I think developers are going to eat it up if they know it exists.
@@cfeauto5938 don't get me wrong. I'm not saying this is a useless tool. I'm really looking forward to it coming out. Its a huge deal even without what I'm talking about, but it's not going to be directly comparable to a proper handheld console imo unless something changes in the mobile game marketplace.
Hey there! I'll be at CES for my TH-cam channel, I'll try and make time to see this on the showfloor! Congrats on the development, I wish you and your team the best for the crowdfunding campaign!
any chance you will ever make the exact same thing but with a keyboard? I have wanted a side sliding physical keyboard for iPhones forever (like the Nokia N97). I will pledge a good chunk of money for that :))

Cheers
Brilliant! Well done, mate. I'm so glad you stuck with it. I am for sure 100% buying one.
Amazing to see the effort put into answering a "niche" problem. Very excited for this!
Happy to hear it's going in the right direction! Been eagerly following since your first video and shared it around, stoked to see the final product!
Omg no way dude!! I saw a video of your early prototype and I found it very cool. This is brilliant!
Glad to see that you added a solution that fits different phone sizes. That was critical. Looking forward to this product
Congrats Josh! Sounds like it's been a wild journey. You did a good one :) Good luck for CES dude.
Congratulations brother. Peace and blessings.
So happy to see this project coming to life. I LOVE the customization options. Aesthetics matter! Backing!!!!
Congratulations bro. Definitely proud of you. Keep doing your thing.
Wayto go an - must feel good to have found the right partners and built the product you wanted to share with the world. I love OhSnap - big time supporter of this merging
Props for making it through “disassemblable”
Fold out handles are genius I can’t believe I’ve never seen that before, big step up from the prototype and that already looked sick
First saw this on RGC a couple months back, you've come a long way! Repairability is huge W!!
Shared the first video around and currently sharing this one around ! I believe in you and MCON ! Lol
ive always been a mobile gamer, android specifically. i could never afford a pc and even if my phone was TERRIBLE at performance, i had so much fun messing with all the games for it (roblox, minecraft, gta, and even emulation felt so awesome considering this is such a tiny device)
but ive always hated how people underestimated mobile gaming and calling it "cheap" or "niche" and people don't really care about it, but you might be one of the first people ive seen take mobile gaming seriously.
and i just want to say: thank you. thank you for genuinely giving mobile gaming a chance and for trying to create something that might change it forever.
Oh snap! Congrats on the collab and success, it looks incredible and I'm looking forward to backing.

This is the update I've been waiting for. Well done on smashing the challenges that ran into, to come up with this.
What a time to be alive. Watched your videos since the very first one. Great success!!!
Glad to hear you're working with the Oh Snap! crew, really solid bunch of folks over there!
Super glad it happened!! thanks a lot josh!
Looks really cool. I was one of the first ones to know about this because of that one comment you made on my video.
I love the size of it, looks like all together it isn't thicker than an NDS which is my limit for pocketability. Looking forward to carrying one of these around for sure.
This screams QOL , we can definitely tell that you think like a customer before thinking like a producer . Great job!
Looks insane dude, been wanting something like this for years!! Hope to see you at CES 🥳
Or just lift weights to not feel the top heavyness
As soon as I saw the form factor and function I instantly knew this was gonna be a cash cow. Very eager for the release
Dude I saw the original video when it dropped and I’m so excited for you and this product!! From, one of you kickstart backers. :)
I'm reaaaally looking forward to this !!! All the best with the launch!
It will be the first project that I will support on kickstarter !
As an old school Xperia Play guy...
...who watched Xperia Play 2 get canceled... then watched the slider model Razer JungleCat get canceled... this feels like redemption 😱
I've got all eyes on this.
4:26 this convinced me to sign up for the preorder lol
😂😂 I was like the same 😅
Hey man, i am so happy for you reaching so far. I hope to be able to experience gaming soon with the controller you just created.
Amazing work dude, really enjoyed seeing how your journey progressed. Even though I'm not a mobile phone gamer I'm still a gamer at heart and I can see how this would appeal to those that do enjoy mobile phone gaming. Onwards and upwards
Forgot about this. This is awesome
Plenty of good games to play on emulators.
@@snekku this is absolutely true. Emulators are generally a generation or two behind because of how inefficient they are by definition.
"So I stopped going to class" you're already on the right track.
I want one for my ZFold6
ADD Z FOLD SUPPORT AND MY LIFE IS YOURS
Good stuff my guy ...looks unique comfortable and enjoyable...keep up the hard work
So glad to see you continuing amd making this a reality!
0:25 freaky ahh chatGPT
Man, I can't wait for the 3D print files to release; so we can _truly_ have right-to-repair support.
lol
Bullshit!
Hey there! I'll be at CES for my TH-cam channel, I'll try and make time to see this on the showfloor! Congrats on the development, I wish you and your team the best for the crowdfunding campaign!
I was about to get another backbone, but now I’m excited about getting a M-Con. This is an amazing design and it has great customization options!
any chance you will ever make the exact same thing but with a keyboard? I have wanted a side sliding physical keyboard for iPhones forever (like the Nokia N97). I will pledge a good chunk of money for that :))
