There are many women who complained that "there are no strong female role models." Evie drove this story. She was the female Indiana Jones, a scholar and adventurer. True, she hadn't served in the French Foreign Legion as did Rick or ride with Pancho Villa as did Indie, but she learned fast.

If you’re interested in a bit of ancient Egyptian history: Imhotep was a real high priest of Ra, chancellor and vizier to the pharaoh Djoser in the 27th century BC (almost 5 thousand years ago). He was also a physician and architect, he designed the first step pyramid for Djoser, which was a predecessor to the pyramids we now know of today in Giza, without him those would never have been made, presumably. He also had some writings about cancer and many other things. Long after his death he was deified, known for his wisdom and intelligence, as he left behind writings for others to read for 3 thousand years after. That’s about all we know of the real man, assumed to be a kind of genius or someone of great intellect. He was one of the very few non-royal people to be deified, as pharaohs were usually only reserved this right, as they became a god when they ascended the throne. His tomb is yet to be found, but since he was such an accomplished and important man, he is most likely entombed somewhere in Saqqara, as that is the ancient burial grounds for Egyptian royalty at that time.

Thats not what I heard about the truths behind about this movie Lol there is much mixed history and roles from what ive heard from actual Eygatianist who reacted to this movie as well as couple of archeologists who also reacted to this movie pointing out and filling in any missed info within the storyline of what actual happened during that era.

@@ellie_jeann Well, I’m only talking about the man Imhotep, obviously the time period they show in this movie is all sorts of wrong, almost everything is wrong in the movie. I’m strictly talking only about Imhotep and not anything else in the movie, just about the man he really was.

      🧐
The actor in this movie who says this line is playing a North African (most likely Muslim, possibly Egyptian, but perhaps Moroccan). Islamic culture, in how it is practiced in North Africa, is largely/mostly against the societal practice of educating women, believing religiously that a woman's role in society and her duty (as a woman) to men, should not require that a woman seek a scholarly education (though it is not 100% forbidden in all circumstances).
However, many viewers of this movie from the Western Hemisphere (where Islam and Islamic culture is sparse to none) will not understand why this line was written into the movie, assuming it to be an attempt by the movie to depict some sort of attitude in 1930s society or whatever. However, the truth is that A) feminism and activism for women's rights was an active movement even back in the 30s, and B) Islamic culture, due to religious traditions, even still today mostly prohibits a woman from seeking an education (in Egypt, elsewhere in Northern Africa, and the Middle East, and beyond)
Another thing people aren't seeming to notice is that the movie itself points out the irony of the (presumably) Muslim character's comment. As soon as he says what he says, the camera cuts to a shot where the woman (Evee) is telling all about all she knows about the archeology of the site (because her character is actually a very highly educated woman). So the movie itself shows the irony of the sexist character's comment, and yet people who watch the movie are simply getting offended that the line itself was even written into the script of the movie itself, not even acknowledging that the movie itself is depicting the irony of sexism.
Lol, I find that itself to be ironic, frankly... but what does anyone nowadays know/care about Islam OR anti-sexism? Frankly, I think most people would RATHER be offended, just so they can justify all their hatred against their fellow man (this is an especially common cultural attitude in the Western Hemisphere, I've noticed). "Everyone hate everyone else, everyone just live for your own self, then feel guilty about being selfish, then null your guilt by justifying your selfishness by pointing out how everyone/everything else is "offending" you".

I despise how so many people assume, that if something happened before 1990, that just people from the 2000s and on are baffled and shocked by those things. People were baffled and also shocked back then, especially women. So glad for the ones who initially stood up to it and didn't hide how they felt.

Them killing the Pharaoh was about the most heinous thing possible in their culture. Pharaohs weren't just kings, they were also considered a deity on Earth. The reason they used the curse is because it's the most horrible punishment that they had. Locking you in a metal box forever, and making you unable to die as you experience being eaten and rotting away would seem an apt punishment.

  • @rainbowpegacornstudios

I've said it before and I will always say it with both pride and confidence: The Mummy AND The Mummy Returns are both better than The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor. I LOVE the chemistry between Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz (love Maria Bello, but her faked accent left everything to be desired) and while I LOVE Jet Li, Arnold Vosloo plays a villainous ancient corpse way better. Also, as many times as I've seen this movie, I always get jumpscared when Jonathan pops up out of the sarcophagus with that mummy to scare his sister.
    Fun facts:
Camels are slower than horses, but are built for life in the desert. Even though they do eventually need to eat and drink, they can live off the fat reserves in their humps for short periods of time, they have long eyelashes to keep sand and dust out of their eyes, what they lack in speed, they make up for in endurance, and they have large feet, so they don't sink into the sand when they're walking.
You know the swarm of locusts that emerges as soon as Imhotep wakes up? The ones that are crawling on the Egyptologist are actually grasshoppers that were refrigerated to make them sluggish.
