For those who don't know, you can safely do a lot more coke than you can heroin. so she measured out a cocaine line (much bigger) not realizing it was heroin and accidentally ODed.

So many people overlook that. When I first saw that in 1994, I was like..."Is she SNORTING Vincents Heroin?!"
Even Vincents heroin friend mentions that, but lots of people just think that she just OD'ed because of doing lines all night. NO... She Od'ed because she snorted what Vincent had to do chemistry stuff too before injecting it in his veins not snorting it without refining it.

They did not kill Marvin in the apartment because Marvin was an insider working for Marcellus. Jules knew him. He was the "one of ours" Jules and Vincent mentioned before going into the apartment. When Vincent shot him in the car it was a complete accident.

Butch didn't leave Marcellus behind because at the end of the day, he was a warrior and despite what he did in the boxing match, he still had some semblance of honor and an honorable person would not leave their enemy to a fate worse than death and there's a lot of symbolism in that scene of the warriors way, it's why he chose the Katana over everything else, and why he waited for guy to turn around before killing him and why he refused to kill Zed and instructed him to pick up the gun before doing so

The case is what's known in fiction as a MacGuffin. The point being that it doesn't matter what's in it, only that it's something everyone wants, a thing to move the story along. It would have been very easy for Tarantino to specify that it's gold, drugs or whatever but it's fun that he left it up to the viewer. The actual prop case contained a yellow light bulb, a battery pack and a switch.

Back in the early 90s no one was supposed to say the N word but it wasn't the huge societal crime that it is today. People who ran in certain circles did whatever they wanted to do. So Jimmy being married to Bonnie and friends with Jules meant those in his circle wouldn't have taken offense. J.Lo had a similar problem years later with a song she did with Ja Rule. That was around the time people started wanting the word outlawed. Either way the characters in this movie are outlaws so they're supposed to do bad things.

And just to add a little more useless trivia. This was from the 1940s, 50s and 60s era, and apparently started with Jazz and beatnik types saying "be there or be square". That dotted square (in this case, rectangle) appearing was used periodically in tv shows and movies from that era (I recall it being in a Flintstone's cartoon that was way before my time, I swear. I just saw it on reruns as a kid). I have seen it said that it has to do with cool people being at a place, i.e. "being around", as in "a round". Since squares aren't round... The bible verse is made up. Marvin worked for Marcellus and was a plant in their group which is why Vince and Jules didn't kill him in the apartment, which also makes his accidental death more of a shame. Mia and Vince did not win the trophy, they stole it. That part was edited out for length. The gun in Butch's kitchen was Marcellus' who left it there to get coffee and donuts. Butch seeing Marcellus walk in front of his car is an homage to the same scene in Psycho. Jules calls the robber Ringo, because before editing he uses all 4 of the Beatles' names with different characters in the movie. And I'm sure everyone else will tell you why Vince is in the bathroom all the time.

You pointed out some really cool things I never thought of: he should have gone with Mia when he had the chance after all because he still wound up dead, either way! And the close up when Vincent shakes Mia's hand; you pointed out that she said that's all Tony Rocky Horror ever did to her, was shake her hand....and he still wound up thrown off a balcony! Very cool. Thanks!

Sooo many great actors! No real heroes, all anti-heroes. It was a totally different vibe rooting for the various bad guys as protagonists...then having them cross each other. The dark humour is of course the best part. This was Quentin Tarrentino's second film. Really solidified his position in the film industry and revitalized John Travolta's career.
Check out "Death Proof", another Tarrentino film with several awesome ladies as protagonists, and includes several location shots in and around Austin Texas that used to be part of my stomping grounds way back in the day.❤

Gas prices were about a buck in 1994. A milkshake would have been about $1-$2, so a 5 dollar shake was kinda crazy then. I saw this movie twice opening night in LA and again that weekend in Vegas. Was a special event, and this movie was different than anything seen before.
Oh, and the dance scene at Jack Rabbit Slim's was met with roars from the crowd. To see Travolta dance on the big screen after disappearing from Hollywood for many years was a treat.

Jules did leave the life. That's why when Butch goes back to his apartment it's Vincent there without Jules. Vincent was actually staking out Butch's place with Marsellus who had left to pick up coffee and donuts. This is why Marsellus was just down the street when Butch saw him and ran him over. You could even say Jules leaving the Hitman game saved his life because he wasn't at the apartment to get killed by Butch ,Vincent was.

Jules wouldnt have been as stupid as Vincent. Jules maybe even would have ordered Vincent to not place his weapon anywhere in the appartment alsone. It would have probably Butch who would have been killed in this scenario.
Your observation about why Marsellus was around is great, would have never spotted this myself.

Welcome to the 90's ladies, the character Jimmy(Bonnie's husband) is Quentin Tarantino, I suggest you react to all of his movies if you can handle sex, violence, drug use and the ability not to be offended easily. 1994 was the best year for movie's ever(just pick one randomly), movie's after 2019 are garbage unless you like CGI fake crap.

Vincent was in the rest room often, because heroin makes addicts constipated... (Mia snorted heroin, which made her OD)... the book he had was "Pulp Fiction" - Bonnie's husband with the great coffee, was played by the writer/director, Quinton Tarrantino.

First of all, great reaction, girls, I have watched it with a lot of joy. Thank you.
There is an opinion that Marcellose's soul was in the case. And all of that was just a redemption. Marcellus changed his mind about selling his soul (or decided that he was deceived - it doesn't matter). His redemption - he got what he does not like the most (remember the words of Jules - "Marcellus does not like being banged by anyone except Mrs. Wallace"). From the other side, Vincent and Jules got the right to be saved. Jules has felt the touch of God. Vincent - hasn't. Vincent was then given another chance - in the situation with Mia (by the way, this was not an overdose, Mia simply mixed up cocaine and heroin, which she got from Vincent's coat). Her salvation was the second miracle that Vincent did not notice. Then there were only bullets and death.
If we do not take into account the theory of the soul (not the fact that it's true)... What if everything that happened is was a test only for Vincent? And then it turns out that Jules with all his deep thoughts is just a toy in the hands of fate. After all, if he had not decided to quit, then perhaps Vincent would have survived...
Or they both would die )
Anyway here is a very deep movie... My number 1 of all times.

With respect, the old "opinion" about the soul in the case could not be more wrong.
First, any theory that Anyone wants to *think* is certainly fine, that was really the point of the MacGuffin (look it up if you're unfamiliar), to allow or even encourage guesses.
But common sense and clues eliminate some theories for being plain wrong, e.g. feel free to guess it's a live giraffe, but that's Not what it is. The common sense clue that it is also Not a "soul" comes at the end of the movie.
The robber named Pumpkin (Tim Roth) sees it and says, "..is that what I think it is?" and Jules indicates it is. Obviously, common sense tells us that *Nobody* would "look" at a "soul" (silly to think that's even possible) and respond, "is that what I think it is?" And have another crook indicate it is; implying that he also recognizes it and also thinks it is a "soul".
The silly little "soul" theory was born long ago without consideration to this obvious point. But, "..(for those) who want to play blind-man, go walk with the Shepard" 😉🙏🏾 ❤
      Brilliant movie

31:16 Few people realize that the title of the book is another typically ironic Tarantino allusion: "Modesty Blaise" is a super-smart agent in the style of James Bond, who is characterized above all by the fact that she is always one step ahead of her opponents. Vincent Vegas reads the book, but does exactly the opposite of what one would call smart.

The Fox Force Five joke by Mia is funny because the baby tomato was lagging behind, walking too slow. So the papa tomato squished the baby tomato because he was angry for the baby tomato walking too slow and yelled "Ketchup!" The punchline is supposed to be a double entendre referring to the act of catch up and the condiment ketchup.

Having betrayed Marsellus, a man who would nearly kill an employee for touching his wife’s feet, the last place Butch would go was his apartment, but it couldn’t be completely ruled out, so Marsellus himself took that assignment to watch for Butch, and kept Vincent with him so they could catch up (Vincent had recently returned from four years in Amsterdam). Since this assignment was something of a holiday, Marsellus went to buy donuts and coffee for himself and Vincent. On his way back, whom should he happen across but Butch himself?
