The Your Own Backyard podcast is incredibly good, and its like the greatest book. I love That Chapter, but I think there is not enough about Chris Lambert and his amazing work in this episode.
It would be MADNESS if dna evidence or a future compatable confession from someone else came to light. I'd say the police would bury it. Can't be having that.
@@ashtonmartinez8773he's literally just a logical human. There is 0 evidence its all hearsay. I'm not defending nobody and im sure he isnt defending him hes literally just speaking facts and you're in your feelings about it. I hope he did it, otherwise we'd all look pretty fuckin retarded wouldn't we ? better that 10 guilty men go free than 1 innocent man be convicted. That being said he's still 100% guilty of all the other crimes and assaults he committed. Are his parents guilty ? We do not know. But let's harrass them and ruin their lives anyways. Google Richard Phillips, ya know... the innocent dude who spent 46 years in prison.
I think Mike and the That Chapter channel has the most loyal audience out of any other channel I’ve ever seen. I just got a notification that this video was posted 6 MINUTES ago and there are already 2.8 THOUSAND views! A month or so ago I watched a video that was only posted literally 1 hour before and there were already over 250k views… it’s crazy, but in a good way. And I’ve never seen anything like it. I love that for our That Chapter family 👀☺️🙌
Coffeehouse Crime has a similarly loyal audience and he is an English dude, so a similarly entertaining accent like Mikes Irish accent, and he does really well told crime videos as well! Check him out if you haven’t, him and Mike are my go to’s!
As a 31 year old mom of two, I'm so thankful I made it through my teen years alive... We all went to parties and got blackout drunk... It's almost a rite of passage. Nobody deserves this... Women should be safe no matter their state of mind. So sad for Kristin, RIP
I work in geriatrics and see every patient as someone who has outlived those amongst them. Its incredible the stories they tell that brought them where i am today. They’re survivors in their own way
@@sagittaria9566 u know I was just saying how much I'd love to listen to my grandmother talk about her life, now that I'm 62. She was a registered nurse, she was the first elected female Deputy sheriff of Dukes County, ma., she was a visiting nurse in Harlem, & she was born in 1904 so she was in her 30s & lived through the same distant rumbles of a galactic war that I'm feeling these days (ww2, same thing, same reasons) An interesting thing is, the pelladians were a matriarch society (like elephants:) & there's a fear of women that's prevalent throughout the galaxy. So misogyny has a very long history. Men need to do a collective healing meditation. But I guess they'd probably hire pole dancers 🙄
@@marcussmith4913 Non-verbals in interviews, tell as much as words. You can't convict on them, but she definitely knew her body had been under their house at some point
You always make my days better Mike. My mother is halfway through radiation treatment for breast cancer and she is starting to feel really sick. She is watching your videos to pass the time, and we talk about the videos together. She’s so strong. Wish her luck, she will be done at the end of this month!
Mike is one of the few who can tell such a horrible story with just enough light while still being respectful of the victim and their family. That Chapter is always my number 1 true crime channels!
Yeah I usually don't wind up watching the whole story with a lot of true crime shows but I've yet to find a case with Mike where I'm not all in to give it a goo. 😂
Actually with him just getting beat up, they could send him a friend and within a few months he would open up and say what he did. My guess is she was burned
The police in the 90's really mishandled this case. They didn't act quickly enough. Had these search warrants been served earlier, more evidence would have likely been found and Paul's future rapes would have been prevented. It took the work of a podcaster, just a normal citizen, to really get this case looked at again and ultimately bring Paul to justice. Just more proof that we the people have to always be vigilant and persistent in out efforts to help our fellow man.
Such resolutions usually do come from the unending diligence of one person - cop or civilian. The case of Cinnamon Brown, comes to mind. Jay Newell: District attorney investigator responsible for persuading Cinnamon to reveal her father’s murder plot. Because of his persistence, Newell himself became a target in Brown’s murder-for-hire scheme. The others were his wife Patti and prosecuting attorney Jeoffrey L. S. Robinson.
That podcaster told a story that Mike didn’t mention here... Apparently a neighbor reported an alarm that would go off every early morning in the Flores’ backyard for awhile there. It went off at the same time at like 5:00am or whatever, as it was from Kristen’s digital watch to wake her up for swim practice because she was on the swim team.
This creep was stalking girls on campus and the parents helped him . Kristin definitely fought her life and it was infuriating that it took so many years to convict him . Her parents fought hard for her to get justice as well . He shouldn’t even have been on campus at all what a loser .
I read something about a renter hearing a digital watch alarm (like the one Kristin wore) coming from the backyard at a property she rented from Paul's mother (not sure if that's the same family home where the other backyard search was done). I don't think it's far-fetched to believe the whole family may have been involved in the coverup.
@@heathernikki5734 so out of hundreds of thousands of possible murderers in this particular game of Clue, you logically excluded all others with a high degree of certainty?
The moms quick "Weve never discussed it as a death" and "of course not" and reaching for her water said it all. They obviously helped him bury that body under their deck and let it rot for 24 years. How vile.
I'm sure the girl who left her with that creep feels awful. Never let anyone that intoxicated try to get home alone or with someone you don't know well. Paul's mothers demeanor says it all during her deposition. Rest in peace Kristen 🙏❤
Why would she? Kristen left her friends to go to a party on her own. She wasn’t responsible for Kristen. It sounds like she didn’t even know her that well. I’m sure there’s some others that have made that girl feel guilty when it’s not her fault.
If a person goes walking through the African jungle unprepared and unprotected and gets killed by a leopard, is it the leopard’s fault, or the person who didn’t recognize the inherent danger and thought they somehow had a universal right to total and permanent safety no matter the environment..?
Imho, the mother knows something, the way she grabbed the water bottle, talked and looked away, it screams guilty! As always, great video, Mike! Thank you for the consistency and quality!
I'm a recent follower and, as a retired law enforcement officer and avid true crime fan, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your delivery of these stories. ❤
It never ceases to amaze me when I hear a story where somebody comes forward years later.. in this instance his ex-girlfriend states that he admitted to her that he killed Kristen Smart and that the police never interviewed her.. I'm sorry, but if my ex came to me and told me they murdered someone, I would be heading straight to the police station.. Why would you have to wait for them to come to you? perhaps I'm missing something on this, but this was just my first thought when I heard that..
I always think those people are weird, like they think “oh goodie, information I can use against my ex if he ever upsets me”, y’know the same dude who admitted to KILLING A WOMAN, shouldn’t that alone be a red flag that he’s dangerous?!? I just don’t understand the mentality “oh he killed someone, well that’s okay, I’ll continue the relationship and cover up his actions”, it’s just bizarre
Thats love, you get pretty biased when you are in a relationship, you cant believe your loved one is able of something horrible. I dont have a clue what her deal was, but this is actually pretty typical behavior. Theres also fear and not wanting to have any part in it, its someone elses problem, until the cops come knocking.
When true crime media is criticised for glorifying murder, we can thankfully point to examples like Chris's podcast which helped convict a terrible criminal. They are our digital superheros.
God, I've heard of this so many times, friends leaving their friends alone at parties. You have to be so careful, especially that young. Always make sure that your friend gets home okay. Poor Kristin...
I'm glad he's finally sitting where he belongs! This happened in my hometown and Kristen's face was everywhere for years. Alex Krebbs was also a monster basically fresh out of prison. He kidnapped Andrea from her apt right across the street from me! Thank you Mike for this news. I didn't know he was finally convicted. Seeing him around town was always disgusting!
Same here! My hometown is Morro Bay but my Mom and grandparents lived in AG.... I'll never forget all the posters, especially the one that her family kept up for many years...this giant billboard was right on the main street I took through AG to get to my mom's place...every time I saw it, I got tears in my eyes. She reminded me so much of one of my friends I went to Cuesta & Poly with a few years earlier! 😢 Kristen and her family had to wait so many excruciating years to be vindicated and receive some measure of justice! That piece of garbage Flores as well as his co-conspirator family members are such sociopathic narcissists....I can't stand their smart ass comments and their selfish, entitled & disgusting behavior towards the grieving Smart family!
He belongs on the streets as a free man because they had absolutely NOTHING to prove he did anything to her! I'm happy the body was never found because Paul is easily getting out on an appeal with this one because they can't even prove the girl is dead let alone Paul killed her!! FREE PAUL
I grew up in San Luis Obispo and was in high school when Kristen disappeared … her case went cold for a long time and we locals always felt Paul Flores was hiding something … THANK YOU MIKE for covering this case!! I’m glad it’s finally getting the attention it deserves - so glad Kristen has finally gotten justice… prayers to her family ❤
It’s such a devastating case, but it’s so wonderful how the community in SLO county has rallied around her, talking about the podcast, “Justice for Kristin” banners & stickers on people’s cars, EVERYONE was talking about the trials. I pray they find her & bring her home one day. ❤️
I’m weirded out by the story, i haven’t finished it yet I’m at 8:30.. but one thing that hits me odd is that the friends or the people who walked with this guy and Kristin smart when she was “drunk” and everyone was heading in that direction, they knew who she was last seen with, but they had the cops go to the party and interview everyone who could have been there to first speak to these people who walked her home, did they just believe like denial that this guy one of their classmates was someone so sick and horrible who could have done something to her?
His whole “hugging her” things sounds to me like he may have been groping on her being in this I inebriated state knowing wholeheartedly that the drugs he likely slipped her worked. Date rape or whatever. He likely had the plan of just bringing her back somewhere where he can get her to sleep with him zero consent, and that would be that,… but he didn’t count on other people seeing him with her. He likely decided to play it off as her being drunk and being a good guy. If that were my friend, I wouldn’t have left her with some guy to help carry her home. I mean they had a reputation of that party right? They seemed to not like the frat house and likely the members of it; so allowing her to be in this position with someone like that isn’t friend behavior. I can understand being tired or frustrated, and I understand having some personal accountability but the truth sounds like she was being responsible, and likely just had been slipped something. Sad, if someone had made sure she gotten home ok maybe this could have been prevented or the least bit delayed.. man heinsight sucks
I can't even imagine being a parent of a child missing, presumed dead & living a life of uncertainty & watching the killer everyday living his life as a free man...RIP Krisitin
I sometimes also think about how horrible it must be for the parents of a killer, to know they birthed so much evil into the world, and they tried their best, only to watch their son/daughter bring so much pain to people
Horrible nightmare for any parent. I got a Yorkie when I was 13yrs old and at 23yrs old someone broke the tiny dog door which was locked and closed while I was at work. I am 58yrs now and still wonder about her. The pupnapper probably thought she was young. I know that it's no comparison to the loss of a child. My point is I can't even emotionally deal with the loss of my dog. I even got into a job that allowed me to bring my pet. I have no idea how her family copes. I admire them for making a scholarship in her name. The unknown of what happened is torture.
@@babble2leeza I am so very sorry that terrible thing happened to you and your beloved dog. I was 19 when Kristin disappeared and always thought that her case should have been solved sooner. They knew from the start that Flores was lying. Her family has been living a nightmare.
His momma knew and wasn’t happy about it. Her face and silence about the question “do you have any knowledge about where the body is?” 😮 I would haunt that house so hard!!
Paul's parents are the epitome of the delusional, in denial enabling type parents . . . which is just the sort of upbringing that can create a Paul type scumbag. The mother's responses to various questions was particularly chilling. If anything, she definitely knows what actually happened. RIP Kristin.
Bullshit! Paul should be a free man and it's mind boggling that they were able to get a conviction with literally speaking ZERO EVIDENCE of his guilt! I'm happy they at least never found the body just to give Paul every chance possible with appeals
Ms Mary It is the job of a prosecutor to prove to a jury of judge beyond a reasonable doubt that a defendant committed a crime as charged. It is NEVER the job of the defendant to prove they did not. In this case IF the evidence presented is as weak as it’s recounted here, there never should have been a conviction. That’s a big if. These channels rarely accurately report on the actual body of evidence because they can’t. Unless each case took hours rereading court transcripts.
Ms Mary The courts have slid to barely more than medieval level quality, Prosecution charges for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degeee murder plus assault plus missing library book for bc a single death. A person can be convicted on little or no physical evidence on purekk lol y circumstantial ‘evidence.’ It’s consistent with the all out total war on our civil liberties our own government has been waged no our most basic cvivil liberties for 40 or more years though.
I didn't think this case would come on that Chapter. This was our local unsolved case. I walked by the Flores residence regularly without realizing it. If it weren't for Chris Lambert and his podcast and amazing detective journalism this case would've never had closure. Highly recommend the podcast
Your Own Backyard podcast is definitely worth a listen, for anyone who missed it when it was big! What struck me was that several cadaver dogs alerted to Paul Flores' mattress; if they had scanned both Flores parents' yards at that time they could have found Kristin.
@@SHEEPLESUCKI’ve read that it starts right after death. I wonder if it starts lightly and how long the body needs to be in a spot for dogs to later pick up the scent. I Googled it and there’s a lot of interesting info on cadaver dogs.
Andrea was the best friend of my boyfriend’s sister. I was told that she was abducted from her apartment that night, through a small bathroom window above her shower, which she always left cracked for her cat. That’s how he got in, sadly. I was also told that her killer later admitted to authorities that Andrea had almost gotten away from him at his house at one point, while he was sleeping. She made it almost to the door but tripped and made a noise that woke him, because he had taken her eye glasses away. So very sad.
Thank you for covering this story. I live near Stockton, and you couldn't go anywhere without seeing a billboard or hearing about Kristin. Thank God for Chris Lambert, and his podcasts, to get attention to this case.
I grew up down the road from Calpoly, so crazy seeing my home make it into one of your videos. Shoutout to Chris Lambert who brought this case back onto the public’s radar and got the Smart family long overdue justice.
I was looking for a comment about this. When I saw her reaction and how she was holding the bottle of water, drinking it and rapidly blinking I was like woahhhh.

20:33 that moment when the detectives asked her the mom if she knew where the body of Kristin smart was, her body language of her grabbing the water tells me she was uncomfortable her body blood pressure began to rise when she was facing a crisis which your body feels it when your trying to deceive the authorities bc your child is faced with a horrible crime.. she knew then and she did nothing.. her body gave her away

The Chris Lambert podcast is riveting, and he did a lot to bring the case back to life, so Paul could be convicted. It's a darn shame Paul's mom and dad didn't join him in prison, but at least Paul is FINALLY paying for his crime. My sympathy to Kristen's family.
Isn't it amazing reading people happy to see someone convicted, yet without ever seeing anything we could consider conclusive proof? This is clearly a case of the Police needing to do something and just charging someone on hearsay, how many times have we seen this before, only to find out the convicted was totally innocent? Whether he did it or not, convicting anyone without proving it, is wrong. If you need to understand why, imagine yourself arrested for something you didn't do, and all your mates thinking you did it, all gossiping and making accusations, calling for the police to arrest you and charge you without any evidence but only hearsay? This case has not been proven.
@@hotstepper887, I agree. Whether he was guilty or not....the evidence they had was FLIMSY and does not support a guilty verdict. I would have acquitted if I sat on that jury. The idiots who voted to convict were doing it purely out of emotion and a desire to get closure for the victim. That's not how the law works.
@@hotstepper887totally innocent? Did you hear Mike say they found so much footage of him sexually assaulting women and filming it? Did you hear him say they found alcohol with roofies in it? Or were you just in a hurry to defend this guy you didn't even watch the whole video??

The father shouldn't have spoke after being aquitted! It's like a slap in the face to her parents especially the evidence of his sons disgusting actions! The good thing about this case is it shows that criminals can never really be safe! There should always be a fear that they will get caught!!!!

I find you to be so adorable and such a good storyteller. You have definitely found your calling . Thank you for all your hard work on your videos. Much love 🇱🇷
I lived in SLO county during when this happened. The 90s were a really scary time in that area. For many, many years, there was a giant "have you seen me?" billboard of Kristin that greeted you coming into San Luis Obispo. Seeing her pretty, smiling face always hurt my heart. Not only was there Kristin's case, but there was also another nasty guy named Rex Krebs (a neighbor to a friend of mine) who attacked and took the lives of 2 other beautiful Cal Poly girls... worst of all, that's when a family friend's high school aged daughter went missing. Finally, almost a year later, she was found not too far from her home: assaulted, sacrified (so the attackers could be as famous as Slayer 🙄), and brutally m*rdered. I was so terrified that I drug my mattress into my parent's room and slept in there for way too long. I'm so, incredibly grateful Kristen and her loved ones FINALLY recieved the justice they so much deserved.
I live in San Pedro, where Paul & his dad were arrested, & remember it well. It's scary to think this guy was just walking around, living his life (drugging & assaulting women) in our community! So glad that he was finally brought to justice. ✌🏼
I know the chief of police and many of the officers and they so desperately tried it broke my heart to hear their stories. So I hope before anybody starts getting on the police but they realize that they were so overwhelmed. And I'm glad Mike brought that up in the video. I remember the chief of police the same that he just was so so sad because his daughter was the same age McKay's stuck with him for so long I know you hear of the dog with the bone won't let it go that is so true with this story
I remember seeing an interview with the woman who moved into the house after the family. She kept hearing a watch alarm beeping at the same time very early morning. The time was when she’d get up for work. That has always stuck with me. She was also the one who found the bloody earring.
It’s truly great you highlight the personal qualities and how the victims are likely remembered by family and friends. Many shows / reporters just highlight them as victims.
Thank you for not only doing an episode on Kristin Smart, thank you for telling it so well! I always believed with every inch of me that Paul was the one who killed her. And I’m so happy to hear he got the $hit kicked out of him in prison. I hope it continues to happen. Kristin is finally getting justice.
I heard that the people who rented the house kept hearing an alarm go off early every morning. It was one of those wrist watch alarms. She use to work as a life guard and had to get up early, so they thought maybe she was buried in the yard with her watch on. It was creepy.

The Flores family is the worst of humanity and it’s a damn shame that the court wasn’t able to provide enough evidence to find Ruben guilty alongside his son. If you’re interested in this case, definitely listen to Your Own Backyard, the podcast is very well done and I don’t think they would have been able to convict Paul without Chris’ work on the podcast.
I remember listening to the podcast Your Own Backyard about this case. I highly recommend it. This case was overshadowed by a lot of other cases and is quite bonkers, so I’m happy to see more people telling Kristin’s story.
I listened to Your Own Backyard, which is the podcast that helped open up the investigation and catch Paul. The host, Chris, used to go to CalPoly and would see the billboard that the Smart Family put up on the road to CalPoly. Thanks to him, Paul and his family have and will answer to their maker one day. His mom in particular is a special kind of evil, she knows what happened, she helped, and yet she still denied the Smart's the opportunity to put Kristin to rest. I hope they get their karma one day.
I don't know what makes the mother "particularly evil" since she is the one out of the three of them who likely participated the least, if at all. Don't get me wrong, she's still horrible, but she didn't go out of her way to drug rape and kill someone then hide the body. I'd say that's comparatively worse.
If anyone wants to go deep on the full details of this case then please listen to Chris Lambert’s documentary podcast “Your Own Backyard”. I don’t think Mike fully covered just how much Chris brought to this case and how he was a major part in keeping the case alive for the Smart family. It’s a truly amazing podcast.
I followed this story forever. I was so relieved when they arrested that creepy pos. But it's not really over until they find her, and can bring her home. I pray that happens for her parents, during their lifetime. 😔
So glad she finally got justice. A long time coming! Mike, when you said, "You know what I'd give the guy who did that?" [the incarcerated individual who put Paul in the hospital]:"A handshake" I honestly thought you said "A hand axe." And I was like, "Yes!" May he pay again and again for his atrocious crimes and may Kristin's family and friends finally find some peace.
Thank you for covering Kristins story. I grew up in this area so it’s very close to my as well as the whole communities hearts. We are so happy Justice has finally been served even though she has never been found
Thanks for covering this case Mike. This is where I grew up and many of my family members and family friends were involved in this investigation in some capacity. It's nearly impossible to summarize this entire case in half an hour but you did a great job with it. The whole county is thankful that there has been a conclusion. Also thanks for pointing out Rachel and Audrianne as well. All of this going on at once in a small town/county was a lot. These murders were on the heels of the horrible ritualistic murder of Elyse Pahler (PLEASE look into that one) who was my best friend's cousin and also the brutul murder of Sammy Atkins whom I knew. All of this was'95-'97. It was a crazy time in SLO County
This is my hometown mystery, born and raised in San Luis Obispo. So surreal that you are covering this story. So much corruption and covering up evidence by police in this case it's sickening. Kristen Smart deserved so much more then what was given.... R.I.P.
Just as a side-note, Labor Day and Memorial Day weekends in the US are absolutely the worst times to have an emergency, need to be taken seriously, or just generally need help. Good luck seeing a doctor or dentist with anything urgent. Good luck having the cops take you seriously. You're on your own at least until Tuesday, and then you're lucky if whoever you need isn't taking the rest of the week off.
I can kind of understand why some sectors are closed down, Easter Weekend here in the U.K. is shutdown from the Friday through to the Monday but our emergency services are still available like any other day if the year. Why do the Police not take anything seriously during Labor Day / Memorial Day? Do they think that crimes aren’t committed then?
As a female, if that dude tried to kiss me and get in my business, I would absolutely never leave this girl alone with this guy. Not trying to shame, but it's common fucking sense. We need to take care of each other. Red flags galore.
Thank you for covering this. I sent this to you when they finally reopened it. I’ve lived near his family and Cal Poly all my life - this is one of the saddest things to happen here.
Mike’s That Chapter is the most on point and thorough! Ive seen other youtube chanels and they’re too exxagerate and keep talking in circles just to prolong their videos. Mike delivers with respect to victims and their families even with humour!
I think I mentioned this video to you a while back. I’m glad it’s here!! Thank you for bringing awareness to this case. May Kristen and her family have some peace.
Paul's mother looked shady when asked about Kristin and the drinking of water before answering is a tell tail sign, I bet the whole family was helping cover up and most likely knew about what he was doing. Glad he was caught and do hope they find her body so she can finally be laid to rest, until then I hope she haunts the parents of Paul as they helped keep their son from facing the sentence he is now serving.
I was going to Cal Poly during this period of time and I can’t express enough how terrifying it was for us women, seeing fellow women vanishing one by one like this. We were all worried that we would be next to go missing. One of the girls was last seen leaving the “Tortilla Flats” bar that was literally one block away from my apartment. And then another girl taken right out of her own apartment! My fellow female apartment neighbor was so scared to throw out her trash with her door unlocked, worried a killer would sneak in during those few moments of her door being unlocked, that she would lock her door just to throw out her trash. It was my first time being away from home when I transferred to Cal Poly (my hometown was 2 1/2 hours south of the university), and it’s the understatement of the year to say it really wasn’t comforting to see Kristen’s missing posters _EVERYWHERE_ in the first year I’m there, and then to see her on an episode of Unsolved Mysteries, with my college campus featured. It was supposed to be such a special time in my life, to be so lucky to transfer to a college I had worked sooo incredibly hard to get accepted into, and that got completely marred by non-stop fear because of two psychopath murdering men on the loose. It makes me absolutely sick that Paul was allowed to live a free life for 20+ years, hurting more innocent women. We never stopped thinking about Kristen - just as Mike said - the entire town knew from day one that Paul killed her. It was the most open secret ever! I really hope that she is recovered and given a proper burial, as she deserves. It’s so sad that she is still out there alone. At one point Paul’s dad, Ruben, was going to accept a plea deal to give up the location of her body - but something screwed that up as well. It was disgusting to watch him in the press conference pretending as if it was all lies being said in the court room, and he and his son are innocent angels. 😡
Crazy how finally after so many years he is finally in prison. I was at that party I actually spoke to her and was under age drinking with a few lady friends I knew that attended cal poly . We never saw her drunk.
I was born and raised on the Central Coast of California. This case has been part of my life and the communties for a very long time. Glad to see you finally covered it!
What that guy did at Walmart was awesome. I love how Kristins parents and the entire community rallied together and made the Flores families lives a living hell
I mean is it though? You are innocent until proven guilty. There are plenty of people in the US (and the world) that get arrested off of bogus claims made to the police, then their story is posted on the news and from that point on they're harassed and treated like shit because people assume that person is guilty when they are actually entirely innocent. More and more society has moved towards the guilty until proven innocent mentality and its not fair to people that could just be victims of circumstance. Yes knowing what we know now he is guilty but at that time they were working off no hard evidence which is why he was shopping in Walmart with his dad and not sitting in prison.
And yet there is literally no definitive evidence he actually did it . . . . Innocent people go to prison every day based on circumstantial evidence and innocent people are harassed and run out of society by people deciding to take things into their own hands and act on groupthink. What the guy at Walmart did was harassment. What the community did was harassment. Personally, I think he probably did it. But I've worked with too many people sent to prison over similar standards of evidence to decades later be exonerated. Hope he actually is guilty, because if not then an entire family was harassed and a life ruined due to weak evidence and judgmental virtue signalers.

I'm happy to hear he's receiving special care in prison.
I read something about a renter hearing a digital watch alarm (like the one Kristin wore) coming from the backyard at a property she rented from Paul's mother (not sure if that's the same family home where the other backyard search was done). I don't think it's far-fetched to believe the whole family may have been involved in the coverup.

Why would she? Kristen left her friends to go to a party on her own. She wasn’t responsible for Kristen.
It sounds like she didn’t even know her that well. I’m sure there’s some others that have made that girl feel guilty when it’s not her fault.
Then the girl would have had to walk back to her dorm alone. Terrible predicament for anyone, no one at fault but the predator.

Woman constantly enable abusers if for nothing more than the excitement
After the relationship craps out could be tooooo late! Paul would want to get rid of any loose lips.....

It is the job of a prosecutor to prove to a jury of judge beyond a reasonable doubt that a defendant committed a crime as charged.
Ms Mary
The courts have slid to barely more than medieval level quality, Prosecution charges for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degeee murder plus assault plus missing library book for bc a single death. A person can be convicted on little or no physical evidence on purekk lol y circumstantial ‘evidence.’

The Chris Lambert podcast is riveting, and he did a lot to bring the case back to life, so Paul could be convicted. It's a darn shame Paul's mom and dad didn't join him in prison, but at least Paul is FINALLY paying for his crime. My sympathy to Kristen's family.
Yes!!!!👏👏👏. Holy cow!!! Talk about going through a rabbit hole! I couldn’t wait for the next segment. 😧
@@hotstepper887 Yes it has. Actually look into it for yourself.
You could legitimately read me a dishwasher manual and I'd be enthralled. There's something so comforting about your storytelling and the delivery of it that soothes my aspergers soul. It's disgusting that this monster's father was acquitted. He definitely helped him dispose of Kristin's body.Hopefully Flores will get the punishment that he really deserves while he's in prison and hopefully he won't be around for much longer.
The father shouldn't have spoke after being aquitted! It's like a slap in the face to her parents especially the evidence of his sons disgusting actions! The good thing about this case is it shows that criminals can never really be safe! There should always be a fear that they will get caught!!!!
You weren't at the trial, how do you know all the jurors were infinitely more stupid than you?

He’s the type of guy that screws his sister cousin etc and shouldn’t even be allowed around children. He’s the type Chris Hanson would find on his tv show stings if he was not in prison. The truth is it’s not just men but woman too, but in this case this guy is appalling. Wish we could give out group cards and denounce members to this group. Like men can denounce guys like this and they can’t call themself a man or a guy bc of crimes like this, same with women.. only thing is that it wouldn’t work

Nobody tells a story as good as Mike. He’s gifted with the ability to put you in the front seat. We feel like we know these victims by the end, and we mourn the loss of them. Mike gives them personally and goes into detail about who they were. I always think about the lives they should have lived. Never change Mike, because we love you.
Count Dankula and his Mad Lads are pretty good
Try Mr.Ballen…. Even better storytelling without the lame comments about people facing justice and supporting the flawed ‘two wrongs make a right’ mentality with his hospital comments. We all thought it….best left unsaid when telling a story of another’s demise for entertainment/self enrichment.

Is is weird that I consider it an accomplishment that I found this video 9 minutes after it was posted!?! Always a good day when TC posts.
Drat! I knew it. Lol
Thanks for this episode. I attended cal poly many decades ago. I remember this since I have been living in SF for 30 years now.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We love you too, Mike! Thanks as always for the great way you tell stories!
Hi Mike, I've been following you since the beginning. You're doing very well. I never miss my Tuesdays and Fridays. Funny I'm old enough to be your mama.
Times like that are a poster for Second Amendment rights and conceal/carry protection.
I'm in Paso Robles. It's crazy to think this case happened right down the highway from me
Mike needs to do that story u mentioned about the Cal Poly girls! 👍Prayers ascended for all of Kristin's friends and family🙏
🦥 Almost 4 yrs and never missed an episode. This is one of the channels my husband and I love watching together.
Thank you Mike 🙌🏼
This was, as always, done to a very high standard. It's amazing you produce these videos at such a regular rate!
I remember seeing an interview with the woman who moved into the house after the family. She kept hearing a watch alarm beeping at the same time very early morning. The time was when she’d get up for work. That has always stuck with me. She was also the one who found the bloody earring.
What
makes you think she was hidden in a wall or something 😮
That cop had me in stitches! A little kissy face, a little touchy-poo. Good attempt, gramps. Appreciate your efforts.
4:20am everyday, same time as Kristen would wake up
So they never bothered to just dig up the place?
What apathetic obstruction-of-justice people.
i heard of this story a while back. those two students who left Kristin with Paul, thinking he would get her home safely. my god, i wonder what went through their minds when they realised the truth
Its definitely on their conscience and it should be poor decisions
Can you imagine the guilt?
@@Stopcommentingthesamecomments It's a poor decision, but the guilt could be tremendous, forever bogging them down in the past and preventing them from living fulsome lives.

He covered the story in a way that's more about her than the guy that committed the crime. Unlike a lot of others that have covered this case. ❤
Thanks for giving the name of the podcast
Best podcast I've ever listened to!!!
Dude they are going to answer to their maker regardless of what happens on this earth.
We are so happy Justice has finally been served even though she has never been found
Wow 20:22 Flores’ mother’s body language, facial expression, tone of voice & whole vibe screams “Yes, yes I do know.”
Isn't the story of Elyse being killer what inspired the movie Jennifer's Body?
This is my hometown mystery, born and raised in San Luis Obispo. So surreal that you are covering this story. So much corruption and covering up evidence by police in this case it's sickening. Kristen Smart deserved so much more then what was given.... R.I.P.
Why do you think the cops tried to help him?

I'm glad someone else noticed the use of miasma. We love TH-camr with great vocabulary 🤓
LOL he got 25 to life with absolutely no proof. Its like the invasion of Iraq
Yes knowing what we know now he is guilty but at that time they were working off no hard evidence which is why he was shopping in Walmart with his dad and not sitting in prison.
that shit was lame.
