    I heard about lojban from a group of friends years back and It's still insane to know people can speak it fluently

    I don’t know what the subtitles are saying since I’m blind, but I’ve started to learn lojban and it’s very encouraging to recognize a few words. I thought I heard citka, mlatu, klama, of course .i and cu, and maybe djica? There was more that I recognized that I don't remember. I'm so glad there is some lojban I can listen to to improve my listening skills and fast comprehension. Although I don't even know what your talking about, perhaps IKEA, I know I will someday.
    Edit: corrected errors caused by dictation. Also, thanks for the transcript!

      Hi there, this is Rachel, a.k.a. Bell! If it's helpful at all, I just went ahead and transcribed this whole video in a text file line by line, alternating with the original Lojban and then the English translation on the next line below. I'm not super familiar with screen readers, so please let me know if this doesn't work for you so that I can fix it or send it in a different format. Here is a Paste bin link to the transcript: pastebin.com/DPXFSJeK

      @@NoiseAndBells It's perfect! Thank you so much. You didn't have to do that of course, but I really appreciate it. You're very kind. Have a lovely day!

      @@Clostridiumbotulinum37 Of course, and likewise! It's no trouble really. I'm actually a disability rights attorney in my daily life, and I find these things very important. In the future, I think I'll probably just make a habit of including a transcript on this kind of video by default. Thanks for reminding me to keep things accessible!

    coi! You can briefly describe. Why do you like Lojban so much and how long have you been studying it?

      Hi there! I first discovered Lojban in the summer of 2014, and learned a little bit off and on for the next few years. I was fascinated by the idea of an inherently unambiguous language, and found a subtle yet profound beauty in all its intricacies. However, I didn't really immerse myself in the language until about three years ago, when I started using Lojban to take notes in my law school classes -- mostly out of boredom, but also because I found that I was better able to understand what I'd written when I came back to it later.
      When I wrote and uploaded my first Lojban song, I wasn't really expecting it to reach as many people as it did, but pretty soon I started finding myself receiving these wonderful heartfelt messages from people in the community telling me how much they loved my song and hoped I would make another. I was overcome by all the positive attention and support, and so I just kind of threw myself headfirst into the community. The immersion really helped with fluency, and pretty soon I found myself talking to myself and thinking and even having dreams in Lojban. So yeah, at this point I guess it's just burrowed itself into my brain like some kind of alien mind parasite :)

      @@NoiseAndBells Thank you for answering me quickly enough. If the language really likes the brain, then it needs to be taught! What are your plans? Maybe create a vlog? You already speak well, that's cool!

    wait how did you pronounce ikea as /ajkijas/ ? wouldnt the in be /ji/ ?

    • @NoiseAndBells
      @NoiseAndBells  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lojban phonotactic rules prohibit glides immediately following consonants, so .aikiias. is pronounced ai-ki-ias /ʔai.ki.jasʔ/ :)

      @octavylon9008 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NoiseAndBells so you cant have at the beginning of a word nor after a semivowel (like /awijas/), since then the would be /ji/ ?
