7:46:47 "I'm pretty sure for the rest of my life - I will always get emotional when I hear this song". I played this game for the first time at 11 years old, 23 years ago. You're completely right, that's what's going to happen. Like me, you may even watch this ending 23 years later and still cry. Thanks for playing ❤
23 years ago at 11 years of age for me as well when I first played this, and I'm not sure I will ever not feel the same as you. This game affected me in ways I never imagined would stick with me in the way it does. 34 years old now, and I'm still bittersweetly devastated...
I've seen that ending more times than I can bother to count, and it still hits every time. And watching someone going through it for the first time is the closest we will ever get to experiencing it for the first time again. So thank you for playing :)
your reaction at the end of the video is exactly why 107k people on different continents in different generations all adore and appreciate your authenticity...never stop being you and thank you for it
At 7:36:11 a little BTS about why he doesn't say i love you back: In the original japanese script Yuna actually says Arigatou (Thank You), it was actually the localization director who translated the game to english that suggested that change, the game director was resistant at first stating that it was written that way because in japanese culture they don't say it like that in front of others etc, the localization director actually insisted on that change stating that it would increase the emotional weight of the scene and eventually they went along with it in the english dub.
I don't know. "Thank you" kind of has a deeper emotional context to it. "I love you" is nice, and I do enjoy this scene, but now I can't help but think that "thank you" might have hit me harder. Thank you could have meant sooo many things, in that moment... Anyway, thanks for sharing! Good facts are appreciated
In Japan, saying "I love you" to someone was almost unheard of in everyday life until recently. Although people might tell someone they liked them, the concept of love was not so common. Until 100 years ago, just as saying "The moon is beautiful" was an expression of love for someone, it was considered beautiful to remain modest even when expressing affection for someone. Recently, due to the influence of Western culture, it is becoming more and more natural to use the word "I love you."
Thank you very much for playing. Thank you for experiencing this and letting us experience it again with you. Final Fantasy X is one of the most human experiences there is. I'm glad we all got to feel everything together. What a lovely dream it was ❤️
This game is still at the top of Final Fantasy for me. I'm so glad you enjoyed this like I did. As far as "To Zanarkand" goes, its definitely the saddest piano music once you start linking it's own beauty to the sadness of this game. I don't know a single person who has finished this game who wasn't a wreck after completing it. Thanks for putting yourself out there and not trying to hide your emotions throughout this.
My name is Jon. I wasn’t an emotional wreck. I was glad I didn’t have to play anymore of this boring game with all of its painfully boring mechanics and one of the dullest protagonists in the final fantasy universe. A tiny world, a handcuffing battle system, a group of characters who are all way more interesting than the main character, side quests of absolute dullness. It’s the Attack of the Clones of the games between 6-12 for me. So many people trying to convince themselves that it’s some transcendent experience because they saw it when they were in puberty, but an ultimately shallow experience. Just my opinion of course
“Bring something different we haven’t seen before”. I can safely say you’ve succeeded on this front as a creator. There were already certain scenes, dialogues, items, etc that I haven’t come across on my play through that I’ve seen you display here. Thank you for sharing with us! Man, this story is absolutely incredible from start to finish. Dare I say it, a perfect game.
I saw the scene with o'aka and he talks about his sister and how he and his brother couldn't help her as gaurdian and it was his only regret so helping Yuna was his way to make it up to her
It isn't much, but I wanted to give some appreciation for this playthrough. Your thoughts made me literally think about things I'd never considered before, despite having played this game at launch and watching numerous breakdowns. It was also really fun watching how you built your characters in the sphere grid. Your Wakka is a proper powerhouse lol. Looking forward to potential side content! With Wakka being so buff and Tidus with a Doible AP weapon, you can make a lot happen fairly quickly. However, the grind for fortune spheres actually sucks lol.
You were so broken at the end, maybe one of the heaviest I’ve seen. It was a joy to watch you play this game. Week after week this was a blast to watch. Thank you for all the emotions.
Aaaaand we're finally here. The Ending Theme during the finale makes it hit so much harder, the song fits so damn well in it hahaha. And Wakka not being able to even watch as Tidus is about to jump and disappear also breaks me. He finds this new guy who looks a lot like his brother and also shares his passion to blitzball, only to lose this "second brother" again at the end. I loved every second of your gameplay and how you got into every little detail of the story and dialogues, it made the experience so much richer. Thank you for sharing it with us! :)
More than 2 decades ago, I played FFX on my Playstation 2 with no expectations... Through this game, I have acquired a discerning and refined appreciation of music, voice acting, and storytelling. Not to mention that it opened the door to my feelings of empathy, pain, and sadness. To this day, no game, no narrative, no masterpiece comes close to my heart than Final Fantasy X. Thank you for helping me relive this journey once again. I'm so glad that it struck you as it did as it did me when I was a child. And you're right, it hits way harder when you're an adult, and you've gone a long way. I didn't even know that you can feel this way from a story delivered within a game. Enjoy the "post game" content! Will definitely be tuning in to see all the blitz ball and game overs. 🤣
For me, Tidus did say "I love you." It was just through his actions. He sacrificed his life for Yuna, and for me that sacrifice was embodied in that last hug.
There’s a couple of interviews with Kazushige Nojima, the head writer and Alexander O. Smith the head translator and localizer. In Japanese, Yuna says “ありがとう” or “thank you” instead of “I love you.” Generally, in Japan, you don’t directly share your feelings, especially if you’re as reserved and formal as Yuna is, so saying “thank you” is very much how a proper Japanese lady would say “I love you.” Obviously, this particular bit of cultural nuance feels a bit weird in English, so Smith just had her say it.
Yuna does say I love you to Tidus because when she made that sphere, she was saying she was in love with Tidus. Talking about "so this is how it feels."
For me, the greatest story ever told in a video game. Maybe in any medium. I have loved, and will love, this story forever. To Zanarkand remains one of the most beautiful pieces of music and will be synonymous with the emotions that the game makes you feel. Thank you for playing this, sharing your experience, and getting swept away in this story. I loved watching along, it's been entertaining, funny, insightful and emotional.
Perfectly said. I actually return to this game every once in a while and love to see new comers playing it for the first time and their reaction. This game is a timeless classic. I still get misty watching the ending and feel the pain with the person seeing it for the fist time. Its an amazing game, story and soundtrack.
I’m glad that this franchise keeps being rediscovered. Each game truly is a journey you go through alongside the characters, feeling what they go through. All thanks to amazing storytelling and beautiful music. Personally I can’t wait for you to experience ff 9. It’s my favorite game in the franchise.
Yea, the way she connects with characters should be a real treat with 9. The characters are quite special. I imagine she's going to have quite the bond with Garnet. It will be interesting to see her empathy for that character
@@jessemiller3108 I agree. That group of characters have all something to give. Vivi and Steiner are my favorites tho. And the story is so engaging! It’ll be a great play through to watch.
Fun fact: the piano solo that plays during "The End" screen (and also plays in the game's intro) wasn't composed for Final Fantasy X, but for composer Nobuo Uematsu's friend. The music ended up being too somber for what his friend needed, and it ended up being repurposed for this game. It's titled "Zanarkand" (often translated as "To Zanarkand"). Also, the song during the Braska's Final Aeon battle also plays during Tidus's introduction scene (where he's playing blitzball). It's called "Otherworld". Finally, "Suteki Da Ne?" is the song you said you wanted to look up the lyrics to. They're pretty widely available online. Thank you for sharing the beautiful journey with us. FFX is one of my absolute favorites in the series, and it'll always be special to me as my first FF ever. I wish I could have warned you how badly this one would hurt at the end, but y'know, spoilers.
Oh no :( I am not ready for this story to end. Thank you for taking us through this beautiful tearful, fun and action packed playthrough. Grabbing a stiff drink and some tissues because I am teary eyed already. I know some people will skip straight to the end for the reaction, but I cant wait to watch all 8 hours of the climax and ending of this fantastic story. Thank for playing my favorite game, Also everyone in the comments that I have met along the way that share the same passion for this game thank you as well. This journey has been so joyful!!
but alas all good things in life come to an end. But we will continue to love and cherish this story for generations. Thank you for doing this game justice with your playthrough and reactions, it is all super genuine and heartfelt 🧡
I played it for the first time earlier this year, and I found just letting go so difficult that I replayed the entire thing just 2 months later (albeit with a hard mode mod installed, but I'd have just as happily replayed without it). And even after those 2 playthroughs so close together and so recently, I'm still tempted to start a 3rd soon. It's been a long time since I got this attached to a game.
7:35:21 I can almost hear the heart breaking, it's almost a universal reaction to that scene. It's been more than 20 years since I first saw that for the first time.
Im a grown man and even 20 years later.. that song still evokes the same feeling from me.. every time. I'm so happy you got to experience this story. X-2 btw isn't the same but it's still a great game.
I was so happy to see this. I haven't been excited for each episode of a let's play in years. Thank you for sharing and allowing me to relive this classic through your eyes. Honestly, it's my favorite playthrough I've seen.
3:38:33 At long last inside Sin we have finally unlocked ARMOR BREAK!! Praise be to Yevon!! Haha but Wakka carried so hard with his piercing evade and counter weapon this entire game.
Tidus having to go is analogous to the player finishing the game and having to go after building such strong relationships with all the characters. This ending always sparks all the emotions no matter how many times I see it. Truly one of the best stories of all time. Thank you for sharing your journey with us Kasta! The nostalgia always gets me right in the feels.
Don't be sorry for showing your feelings. I've lost count of how many times I've seen the ending. Not once have I gotten through it without a tear. Thank you for letting us be a part of this experience. Thank you for choosing the PS2 version. Thank you for being you. Don't ever be ashamed of being yourself. This was my first time following a whole playthrough when the videos came out, and while I started this while grinding my Sphere Grid, I just had to watch this through 'till the end. I'd never heard of you before, but I'm now a subscriber
7:15:56 this is the most underrated boss theme in the game and gets overlooked in favor of "Contest of Aeons". My absolute favorite the moment I first heard it playing through, and still now all these years later. The absolute gravitas and importance of the moment Tidus says he will fade and the tone shift the music provides. Bravo
I just wanted to say thank you so much for keeping me entertained for these past months. My partner is currently away with work and I have not been able speak to him for the past 6 months and these videos have kept me company. So thank you ! I love that you played it your way
there's so many memorable lines in this beautiful piece of art. despite me beating this well over 20 years ago, those bitter sweet lines have remained with me and i dare say many other fans.
Masterful Storytelling is everything in a game. I played this when it came out decades ago, and to this day still one of the greatest stories ever told. And like you i STILL get emotional when i hear the Zanarkand Theme. It will live with you forever..
6:02:05 The callbacks in this game are so cool. Seeing Zanarkand and the arena again, and then the intro music.... I was so pumped back in the day. Still amazing!
Such a great ending, Tidus(and the player) spends the entire midgame overcome with grief that defeating sin will cost Yuna her life, but as soon as the shoe is on the other foot where he can save Yuna but doom himself he sees it through without whining, or his trademark crying. But if Yuna whistling at the end of the pier doesnt break your heart I'd argue you don't have one
I always loved how the ending didn't give you one big tearjerker moment but instead several smaller salt-in-the-wound details, and I think that's why it still emotionally resonates today. It tells the ending the same way the pain of losing someone presents in myriad ways and never truly leaves us. When she's hurting from the fall and a fayth crosses right in front of her eyes, almost taunting her. The way Tidus can't perfectly hug Yuna before he goes because he can't feel her and overlaps her form a little. The way the whistles have a perfect rhythm and more power to tip off that she's been practicing for weeks. The way Lulu has to just come get her to bring her back to real life when everyone else has moved on. It's those priceless details, man.
Once I seen your channel I have to say this is what I was waiting for your reaction to the happiest saddest FF ending. Now your one of us, those who have such a sad but fond memory of all these characters you have grown to love.
Your reaction to the ending perfectly encapsulated how I felt when I first played this 20 something years ago. You grow so attached to the characters that seeing them go is gut-wrenching.
This has been one of my favorite let's plays on youtube. Genuine great reactions. A lot of people live stream playthroughs and just stare at chat during cutscenes and have zero investment in the game or story
For all the thanks you give to the community for supporting you, we owe you it back tenfold for the investment and emotion you put into these stories and characters, and the subsequent journeys you share with us. It really is the closest thing to experiencing it first hand for the first time all over again, and you can't put a price on that.
Yuna's "I love you" is a shot to the heart, and then seeing Yuna whistle afterwards to try and get Tidus back is stab to the heart.... Its also sad seeing Yuna kill her Aeons so Yu Yevon has more left to possess. Thank you so much for another beautiful playthrough with your genuine and wonderful reactions. FF10 is beloved for a reason, the story is among the best in the series. Its one of the few games that made me cry (just like you and many others)
It really is truly incredible the complexity of the emotion this story creates, it's almost incomprehensible. It's crazy how cathartic and addictive it is, to feel so human... I think that's why so many people will continue to play through this game again and again and again and again, probably for the rest of their lives, I'm sure I will... and I'll always cry.
It was a great play through. What I really enjoy about the story is how much we see Tidus change to a person who understands where Yuna was at the start of the story. When he learned that Yuna was willing to sacrifice her life for others he could not understand why she would do this and refused to accept it. But in the end, he realized that saving her and the rest of Spira would require the same sacrifice from him, he resolves to make the exact same sacrifice that he refused to accept earlier in the story.
there were so many highlights in this game, the reveal that yuna would die after her pilgrimage, the moonlight tree scene with tidus (for me still one of the most beautiful scenes in media in general), the sphere spoken by yuna right before reaching zanarkand and so many more scenes. All this already so breathtakingly beautiful and unrivalled, then the game finds such a perfect ending, with this masterful musical variation of To Zanarkand (ending theme)... to this day and forever my favourite game and the most beautiful story, at least for me.. thank you for playing that masterpiece, it was a joy watching your videos
To listen to you speak so beautifully about a series that I still play actually just started a playthrough 3 days ago and this first I've ever seen any of your videos ever but this filled me with joy knowing that you love this game
I still get goosebumps watching that ending, hearing the music swell and hearing those words. It hits as hard as it did the day I saw it for the first time. I must have listened to Suteki Da Ne 1000 times already
I just want to say that this is my all time favourite game, and your playthrough has been an absolute joy to follow. It took me to times when I was only 10 years old and discovering alot of this for myself, and you even showed me things I've never seen before! I'm now 33 and you've helped me through this last couple of months of hardship, and provided me with somewhere I can escape my own thoughts at times. I can't thank you enough for that ❤🙏
The end of this story brought me to tears the first time too. Now that I saw your reaction, I cried again. thanks. the greatest of final fantasy stories
I've finished watching just now. There are so many things I want to say about this game but somehow all of them fall short so I'll just say this: thank you. For sharing your experience. For your reaction. Your feelings in this reaction I understand well and had them myself. Like me, I know you will need time between final fantasy games to process what happened. There's so much I want to say about X-2 but I won't of course. And I am so incredibly hyped for 9 and then 8. The hardest part now is having to wait for your reactions to them because they are both absolute masterpieces in their own rights but very different to this and each other. The journey will not disappoint you. I just almost wish you'd get on with them lol. Thank you Kasta. Truly. ❤
I'm late but i finally could watch you experience this ending ! You succeeded by making me cry again 😥 And i liked the fact that you didn't force yourself to speak about how you felt, wathcing the credits and listening to the song. Thanks again Kasta for sharing with us your playthroughs. You became one of my favorite gamer (if not the most) 🥰
To be fair, the first time it happens, everyone could potentially mean the party proper... right up until that game over, and you realize it meant in a general sense. Seeing the amount of damage it could do with that five pointed explosion nexus thing it did, I was not surprised at all with the league Sin is in from the start.
It's funny cuz it really is a move that wipes EVERYTHING out. If you hack to survive the attack, the game completely hard-crashes. "What are you doing here? This wiped out Spira. No... no. I don't have programming for this. End program violently."
i remember watching a friend play this and the screen goes to whit, he asks "what does this mean?" and I reply with "it means you're fuckin dead!" my other friends all cracked up laughing
I think this is the first time I've ever actually seen it used, it's honestly so easy to beat it that I've never even got it past the halfway full mark lol
The welling of tears always starts with Auron, the well breaks with Waka realizing Tidus is also being sent. The well becomes a river with Yuna shaking her head "no". The river turns into an ocean when Yuna phases through him. The ocean floods the world when she says "I love you"
Just got to the ending, this was a really special play through, I cried along too. Thanks so much for getting so invested in this world and characters, it was my first Final Fantasy game so it is a fond memory for me. Take whatever time you need to recover and I’m looking forward to any future episodes you do in FFX, FFX-2 or other FF worlds.
This was the first video of yours that was recommended to me, instead of watching, i decided to go back and watch from episode 1 This has been a truly great journey with you and I'm happy to have made it all the way back here Let's cry together ❤
Kasta, getting to experience this story alongside you has been an absolute honour! I was 8 years old the first time I played through FFX and I was inconsolable after that ending. I have seen it countless times now over the years and I still cried with you this time. The moment Yuna falls through Tidus just wrecks me, and the enitre music score for the ending is so beautifully emotional. Watching you connect so strongly to these characters, I knew this story was going to impact you really hard, and I'm so glad it didn't disappoint. You had so many amazing insights to the story and the characters as you played, and even your...less than conventional methods were entertaining to watch 🤣 I'm so excited for the future of your journey through the other final Fantasy games!
Thank you, Maggie. I already said it at the start of the series, but I was so glad and excited to see you do this play-through. It's a story that I love and always come back to every once in a while. Being able to experience it again through your perspective was a real joy.
“This is my story.” -Wakka, as he autographs the ball and kicks it off to down Braska’s Final Aeon (Jecht). Thank you for such a great play through, Kasta. It was a joy to see you enjoy the game. It has held up so well over the years.
I cry every time. Thank for sharing your experience playing my favourite game. I watch so many people play this game for the first time and I still cry every time I watch this ending and every single time I see someone play this for the first time, its just as magical. I'm glad you loved it too.
the fact that your strategy to beat yu yevon was equipment switching is so funny considering how much you were doing that at the start of this playthrough without understanding it. Poetic finish! That was very smart.
Great playthrough! The ending is so powerful and moving, one of if not my all time favourite game. Tidus didn’t need to say “I love you” back, some things don’t need to be said, but shown, and he showed her so much love. Damn…I really love this game.
The "I love you" line was a liberty the english translation took. In the original japanese script Yuna says "Thank you". That´s why he doesn´t say it back, even though we can all agree that is what both characters feel. Thank you for this fantastic playthrough. I first finished FFX back in 2002 and to this day i still get emotional every single time i hear To Zanarkand.
It's always interesting to hear the "Thank you" vs "I love you" translation conversation. I know it was a subject of much discussion at the end of FFVII Rebirth too.
Indeed it was. Back then though not many games of this size had a german dub. So we got the "I love you" but the subtitles said "Danke" (Thank you), because they were often translatetd directly from japanese. A lot of the subtitles didn´t match at all because of that. They later changed it to "Ich liebe dich" (I love you) in the HD remaster.
So happy you are going to do the post game after this! Looking forward to seeing what the guide tells you, and seeing how strong you can become for some of those optional bosses. Also bring on X-2 after a break though, it will be so refreshing!
This is one of my favorite games ever, I remember beating it back in high school. To Zanarkand is such an amazing song, I played it for my school's talent show. It's such an emotional song. Went from a happy song, to a sad song once you beat it. It almost brings me to tears when I hear it now.
Crying with you even though I’ve beat this already! Congrats! Definitely a story that stays w/ you - why I love gaming as a medium, experiences like FFX
Thanks for this LP. This is my favorite game of all time, and your series helped me appreciate it even more. Stories this good are meant to teach us loss and hardship, hope and love, so that we may weather and appreciate our lives however cruel and ugly they may be at times. They teach us to compartmentalize the human experience without having to suffer the hard way ourselves. To live is to suffer; to survive is to find meaning in the suffering. Final Fantasy X exemplifies this perfectly. I can't wait for you to play X-2 and see a free Spira.
Final Fantasy is really something special. It's an experience that none of us will forget, and watching someone experience it for their first time, in a way we get to relive that experience through them. I've watched every episode so far, Kasta has shown geniune love for the game, characters, the world, and music. It's been such an interesting and fun playthrough, and I (we) as a fan, appreciate that its been treated by someone like Kasta. There been a few face palm moments, and the grid sphere makes my OCD go nuts, but the laughs, the "ahhh moments" and now for the tears. Glad to have been part of the journey.
One little known aspect of the ending is Tidus is disappearing/translucent during it yet when he wraps his arms around Yuna he is solid again. He uses all his strength and love to feel her one more time.
This is the game that broke me as a boy and they owe me therapy! My algorithm recommended you and I'm happy it did! The FFX community are one of a kind!
No matter how many times I watch this ending, the tears always flow. The confession of love AND the last part of her speech “and the dreams that have faded, never forget them” hits me in every feel imaginable
I’m only on episode 5 of watching your playthrough but I had to watch your reaction to the ending. To this day, this is still my favorite ending to a video game, seen the ending atleast 30+ times and I still tear up every time 😭
I love this game so much. I can't thank you enough for sharing your reaction to this ending with the world. It's everything I've felt every time I've played it. As a man, we'd give anything to go out sacrificing our lives for those we love. That's why this game has stood the test of time in story. Tidus was full of life, hope and optimism. He had his scars and pain, but he never let if phase him. Then he fell in love, and found out the girl he fell in love with was on a journey to give her life to save the world. He then began a journey that would save the world, but he was focused on saving her. Even if that meant he ceased to exist, he was determined to save her. We all want to be that kind of hero.
You're wonderful Thank you for letting me share in your emotions, thank you for letting me feel the story all over again almost as much as my first playthrough back in the day. Thank you for being you, with such attention to detail, from talking with every single NPC, exploring every nook and cranny, immersing yourself fully and completely (Not only in this game) to going the extra mile of playing it on original hardware. A thank you doesn't seem like enough but it's all I have
I always tell myself I WONT cry this time watching the end, but I can never hold my tears 😭 this game has been with me since childhood and it still affects me today ❤
Maggie, thank you so much for sharing your first time experiences with us. These games have always had a place in my heart and it’s awesome to see other people discover the passion us long time fans always held. Had I not played FFVII first, and it being my initial introduction to RPG style games, I probably would have loved this one more. FFX is truly a masterpiece. I know you already have a list of games you’re doing which include FFIX and FFX-2. IX was awesome as well and I’m sure you’ll fall in love with that story as you always have. X-2 is one I never played fully… it was just a bit too girly for me. Not that that’s a bad thing, it just wasn’t for me. Please keep in mind however that FFX and X-2 were both PS2 games and the first Final Fantasy games that were voice acted. As you play older titles such as IX, they are all text based and may feel a bit more clunky on controls. I look forward to hearing your voice acting for each of the characters.
I just want to say that of all the reaction series I’ve seen, yours is the perfect combination of head and heart, with an intelligent digestion of the story that leaves my innermost thoughts shareable. I don’t have friends that I can really go into depth with about this incredible story, so with you I feel like my feelings are validated. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thanks so much for this playthrough, it was fun watching you experience this beautiful game for the first time and listen to your thoughts on it. You were super endearing throughout and did a great job. Thanks again and keep it up!!
Let's do this. So glad to hear that we won't be doing X2 right away. It works best to take some time to decompress and cleanse the palate before doing X2.
I remembered playing the game as soon as it came out back when I was 15 years old. The ending was so emotional for me... a rare mix of happiness and sadness at the same time. It's hard to find video games in the era of this new generation that can be truly gives you an experience that you will never forget and make such an impact. Thank you sharing this moment!
Wow, Maggie, you’ve really taken us on an incredible journey with this series. Seeing you pour your heart into these characters and moments made the experience so much more meaningful. 🌊 The emotions during the ending hit hard, and your reaction just made it even more unforgettable. It’s been a privilege following along with you, from the struggles of Zanarkand to this bittersweet farewell. 🙌 Thanks for bringing us all along for the ride-what an adventure! Can’t wait to see what’s next, but this one will stay with me for a long time. 🥹
It has been a great journey, I'm glad you continued on with the journey to keep the impact. You should watch the FFX Eternal Calm, it is about a 10 minute after story
I hope Kasta will eventually play MGS3 remake after it comes out. Considering its a prequel and the remake will be 1:1 with basically just improved graphics and controls she can pretty much start with the remake.
Great job on Seymour Omnis! It’s so bittersweet to watch this, knowing you did it, but your journey with this game is done. Loved your joy and pain and enthusiasm you shared with us this entire playthrough. Thank you for your openness! I always enjoy watching your series. Stay positive and healthy!
Oh, One of the coolest features of replaying this game. you can load your primers from a previous save and understand every al bhed dialog right from very start of game. That's why you can read primers from memory cards. There was also this comrodery back in day where We'd borrow our friends memory cards to load primers they found we missed and vice versa to complete our primers. "do you have 4? i missed 4" "yeah I got 4, did you find 13?". That's a memory some of us have from back in day.
Thank you for the authenticity and rawness of your reaction to this game. It reminds me why my 8th-grade self loved it so much. It’s been decades, and seeing a new fan experience it with such honesty is truly special. FFX is one of those games you never forget. I hope you enjoyed the journey.
This has been by far (and I mean, BY FAR!) the best FFX playthrough from another person I have ever experienced. This story, after 24 years, still manages to convey all of what this pilgrimage was about. A pilgrimage full of joy, just as Yuna wanted it, full of love, friendship and trust. A pilgrimage full of growth, from Tidus evolving into the responsible hero he was supposed to become, to Wakka overcoming his prejudices, from Kimahri becoming a strong and wise Ronso to Yuna's resolve to save Spira even after abandoning the precepts, paralleling the growth Braska, Auron and Jecht experienced ten years before. But most of all, a pilgrimage full of loss. Wakka having to say goodbye to his new brother only a year after Chappu, Rikku having her Home taken away from her, Kimahri seeing all the Ronso erased by Seymour. And of course, Yuna and Tidus separating in this finale, which still makes me cry every single time, even after the dozens of times I played the game through the years. We spent the whole game worrying about Yuna and the final summoning, and when we find a solution to that, it's Tidus that has to go. You have managed to grasp every moment, every emotion the game tried to convey, without missing any details about the story and, in fact, anticipating many events. Your takes on several of the game plot points were coming from a greatly empathetic and understanding place. The fact that you managed to grasp so much of the story on a first playthrough is really impressive, no matter how much experience you had with other games' stories. The understanding of actual gameplay mechanics was probably the only weak point of this series, but it was still good enough to breeze through the main story so who cares if you used Wakka as the Auron and Kimahri as the Rikku in the end. Thanks for the series, looking forward to seeing more of the post-game content! Boy, I love this game so much, can you tell?
Can’t believe it’s over already! I have thoroughly enjoyed your playthrough, Kasta. Thank you for never being afraid to try something new, and also for not giving up on a game just because your specific path didn’t align with many others. You really owned this journey and made it your own, thanks for taking us along.
"The people and the friends that we have lost, or the dreams that have faded... Never forget them" That line killed me so much, nothing has ever hit so hard in a video game which has related to real life. I appreciate you Maggie in all you do for us.
And that, as they say, is that.
the legend
Now why'd you have to go and be epic like that?🥹🤣
They do say that.
Ok calm down Maechen
That wasn't that tho... not till you 100% complete X2
I have come to feed on the tears of yet another ffX ending reaction.
My hunger is satisfied.
Works every time
It’s like collecting Pokemon
HAHAHAHA, we love the pain.

@REChronic54 ah, fresh tears, my favorite.

Yes....yes we are
7:46:47 "I'm pretty sure for the rest of my life - I will always get emotional when I hear this song". I played this game for the first time at 11 years old, 23 years ago. You're completely right, that's what's going to happen.
Like me, you may even watch this ending 23 years later and still cry.
Thanks for playing ❤
It stays as hard as it was back then, it's always a cry moment.
23 years ago at 11 years of age for me as well when I first played this, and I'm not sure I will ever not feel the same as you. This game affected me in ways I never imagined would stick with me in the way it does. 34 years old now, and I'm still bittersweetly devastated...
Played this in 2001, I still get emotional to this song lol
Same for me 😢
I've seen that ending more times than I can bother to count, and it still hits every time.
And watching someone going through it for the first time is the closest we will ever get to experiencing it for the first time again. So thank you for playing :)
Amen.
your reaction at the end of the video is exactly why 107k people on different continents in different generations all adore and appreciate your authenticity...never stop being you and thank you for it
At 7:36:11 a little BTS about why he doesn't say i love you back: In the original japanese script Yuna actually says Arigatou (Thank You), it was actually the localization director who translated the game to english that suggested that change, the game director was resistant at first stating that it was written that way because in japanese culture they don't say it like that in front of others etc, the localization director actually insisted on that change stating that it would increase the emotional weight of the scene and eventually they went along with it in the english dub.
I'm glad they did! It was such a powerful scene because of it!!!
That works tho. It's more powerful for international audience.
@@jessemiller3108 well, we all have our preferences. I'll stick with the english translation one.
In Japan, saying "I love you" to someone was almost unheard of in everyday life until recently.
Although people might tell someone they liked them, the concept of love was not so common.
Until 100 years ago, just as saying "The moon is beautiful" was an expression of love for someone,
it was considered beautiful to remain modest even when expressing affection for someone.
I can't knock you for liking X best, but I really hope she plays (the REAL) VII, VIII, and IX
@jada90 those are all great, too. I would be surprised if she didn't get to those eventually.
I just played it for the first time in 2024. But watched friends play it over the years. For me it will be 7,6,12,5,1,9,10,16,13,15
@@Jonpushesbuttons I bet you're fun at parties.
Anyone: I love this thing!
Jon: Actually, here's why it sucks
“Bring something different we haven’t seen before”.
I can safely say you’ve succeeded on this front as a creator. There were already certain scenes, dialogues, items, etc that I haven’t come across on my play through that I’ve seen you display here. Thank you for sharing with us!
Man, this story is absolutely incredible from start to finish. Dare I say it, a perfect game.
I saw the scene with o'aka and he talks about his sister and how he and his brother couldn't help her as gaurdian and it was his only regret so helping Yuna was his way to make it up to her
"Just, one more thing... the people and the friends that we have lost, or the dreams that have faded... Never forget them."
WOW spoilers
I've seen that on so many tatooos
*cries* 😢😭😭😭😭😭
@@NerdGeekTalkSpoilera for a 22 year old game 😂😂 get a life
That's a dagger just through my heart
It isn't much, but I wanted to give some appreciation for this playthrough. Your thoughts made me literally think about things I'd never considered before, despite having played this game at launch and watching numerous breakdowns. It was also really fun watching how you built your characters in the sphere grid. Your Wakka is a proper powerhouse lol. Looking forward to potential side content! With Wakka being so buff and Tidus with a Doible AP weapon, you can make a lot happen fairly quickly. However, the grind for fortune spheres actually sucks lol.
and she already has some door to tomorrow! I hope she learns about customizing Overdrive to AP weapons in the guide somehow
Great seeing you and everyone else who commented on every video what a fun journey! this community has been fantastic!
Wakka took Tidus under his wing and was the 2nd person in Spira to look out for him.
Jecht was talking to all of us Final Fantasy fans when he said “you’re gonna cry, you always cry, see, you’re crying” 😭
@shadowofcallisto1560 talking to final fantasy fans both old and new 😅.....😔
Jecht played FFVI and VII by that point
Everytime I watch the FFX ending, I think that I won't tear up... and everytime I've been wrong.
I cry every time even though I have seen the ending countless times
Same - my heart gets broken every time.
Same. Good read! He didn't need to say it. She felt it...
There’s a couple of interviews with Kazushige Nojima, the head writer and Alexander O. Smith the head translator and localizer.
In Japanese, Yuna says “ありがとう” or “thank you” instead of “I love you.” Generally, in Japan, you don’t directly share your feelings, especially if you’re as reserved and formal as Yuna is, so saying “thank you” is very much how a proper Japanese lady would say “I love you.”
Obviously, this particular bit of cultural nuance feels a bit weird in English, so Smith just had her say it.
Couldn't have said it better myself
I’m glad that this franchise keeps being rediscovered. Each game truly is a journey you go through alongside the characters, feeling what they go through. All thanks to amazing storytelling and beautiful music.
Personally I can’t wait for you to experience ff 9. It’s my favorite game in the franchise.
Final Fantasy IX has steadily become my favourite as well. I look forward to the playthrough. 😊
10 is one of the hardest games to "let go" and finish imo because it's just such a good game, that's what makes the ending even more emotional
@ahumanbeingfromtheearth1502 yep it's the only game I've replayed several times
I either replay it or watch a reaction. Of this game at least once a year. And I always cry at the end always.
Totally agree on ffx-2 ❤
I love that you played it your way
This is why we play video games. Nothing is like spending dozens of hours with characters you fall in love with. It’s such a unique experience.
there's so many memorable lines in this beautiful piece of art.
despite me beating this well over 20 years ago, those bitter sweet lines have remained with me and i dare say many other fans.
It drives me crazy when they do that and I’m so glad she isn’t one of those people.
8 hours....This is it.
This is your story.
It's been long enough.
To listen to you speak so beautifully about a series that I still play actually just started a playthrough 3 days ago and this first I've ever seen any of your videos ever but this filled me with joy knowing that you love this game
Oh, you are going to adore IX. X-2 is a fun, VERY DIFFERENT, game, but IX is such a special first time game.
Yeah, she's fantastic at empathising with characters so her FF9 playthrough will be special no doubt.
Oh she's gonna love IX. 9 and 10 are just the best FF games period
Absolutely, IX is a special FF with very likeable characters (and great character development). I'm already looking forward to this playthrough.
9 is my favorite
@@Zephhi have you played VI?
It's amazing
You became one of my favorite gamer (if not the most) 🥰
1:56:57 Shielding against giga-graviton is adorable. When it says "wipes everyone out", everyone means Spira.
End program violently."
i remember watching a friend play this and the screen goes to whit, he asks "what does this mean?"
and I reply with "it means you're fuckin dead!"
my other friends all cracked up laughing
This was the first video of yours that was recommended to me, instead of watching, i decided to go back and watch from episode 1
This has been a truly great journey with you and I'm happy to have made it all the way back here
Let's cry together ❤
😂
I really did enjoy Wakka being the MVP Heavy Hitter this playthrough. Imagine if she had gotten the Attack Slots!!!
@@drock1331 in Japan, "Thank you" means a loooooooooooot especially in this context, it essentially is "I love you"
Suteki da ne
Always look forward to your comments! what a great community we have here
One little known aspect of the ending is Tidus is disappearing/translucent during it yet when he wraps his arms around Yuna he is solid again.
You're wonderful
Thank you for letting me share in your emotions, thank you for letting me feel the story all over again almost as much as my first playthrough back in the day. Thank you for being you, with such attention to detail, from talking with every single NPC, exploring every nook and cranny, immersing yourself fully and completely (Not only in this game) to going the extra mile of playing it on original hardware. A thank you doesn't seem like enough but it's all I have
I’ve not played this for years… the ending still breaks my heart. My favourite FF. What a love story
It doesn't matter how many times I see this ending, always makes me cry. Great playthrough!
So many memories. Shed some tears with you. Its such a great story, FFX. I can't wait until you continue the journey in FFX-2
Exactly 💛 my heart needs to recover before any further damage…
I also feel like you need to play others in the series to understand the glamour and camp that is X2
I can’t wait to see her reaction to X-2’s opening.
@Kastaclysm the x2 perfect playthrough actually brings back someone who we all liked in this game brother 😂😂
X2 is overall just bad...hope she won't do too many side stuff in that game
I remembered playing the game as soon as it came out back when I was 15 years old. The ending was so emotional for me... a rare mix of happiness and sadness at the same time. It's hard to find video games in the era of this new generation that can be truly gives you an experience that you will never forget and make such an impact. Thank you sharing this moment!
I'm not surprised at all that you digged Seymours final battle theme. It's one of the best tracks in the game! It's so goooood!
I also cried my eyes out the first time...the game I love the most
Wow, Maggie, you’ve really taken us on an incredible journey with this series. 🥹
Thank you for playing this masterpiece.
It has been a great journey, I'm glad you continued on with the journey to keep the impact. You should watch the FFX Eternal Calm, it is about a 10 minute after story
We definitely need a reaction to this mini video!!
Only 2 games made me cry ever. And I’m 42 years old now.
This and MGS3…
Completely agree with MGS3
I hope Kasta will eventually play MGS3 remake after it comes out. Considering its a prequel and the remake will be 1:1 with basically just improved graphics and controls she can pretty much start with the remake.
I hope the Metal Gear series makes its way to this channel. Lots of depth of story telling and character development. Perfect for her play style.
@@RUSTIC_SLAP19 Absolutely! It would definitely be games she’d enjoy.
I love to see how everyone's getting emotionally destroyed when Yuna hits the "I love you".
I beat this game when it first came out, and yes that song has forever been emotional to me ever since. So it will for you too.
I loved your Final Fantasy X journey! I would love to see you play Final Fantasy 9 which is highly regarded in the same way as FF 7 and 10!
Bahamut in the beginning: Don't cry.
Jecht: You're gonna cry. You always cry. See? *You're cryin'*
Never forget them"
That line killed me so much, nothing has ever hit so hard in a video game which has related to real life.
I appreciate you Maggie in all you do for us.
