Btw the reason Wakka’s missing flying enemies is that his ability to hit them was based on his high accuracy stat. Since you sent him down Tidus’s path he got really strong but also didn’t increase his accuracy as much as he normally would’ve.
In the menu screen under ability, you can use Yuna's white magic to heal your party after fight/ battles, so you can save on using itiems.and save a ton of gil too.
Quick Tip to save yourself some potions! You can actually use Yuna's cure ability in the character ability screen to cure your party outside of battle whenever you press start. It'll use up her MP, but it'll save you some Gil's.
Just a point around capturing. You don’t need to worry about the 10 monster limit. It just means that each monster you capture can only be captured 10 times. I.e you can only capture 10 flame flans. You will never be in a position where you can’t catch a fiend because you’ve caught too many of the other. In fact you want to capture as many as possible as capturing multiple of each enemy can lead to extra secrets. Generally once I get to the Calm Lands I just use capture weapons for pretty much the rest of the game until I’m done with monster catching

Don't sleep on giving black mage spells like Firaga,Thundaga, Waterga, and Blizzaga to Yuna because she has very high magic stats as well as Lulu and can make Yuna way more versatile then just a healer and summoner.
Watching you going through and talking to everyone multiple times so you don't miss dialog brings back so many memories, lol. It really puts into perspective and gives you an appreciation for how much effort went into Final Fantasy 7 Remake where literally EVERY background character in the world is voice acted so you hear their stuff as you pass by without having to stop and talk to each of them.
Conserve your remedies when you can, they can be hard to come by. If a character just has one debuff, use the appropriate meds, which are cheaper. Soft for petrify, eyedrops for darkness, etc. Sleep and confuse can be cured by gently tapping them with lulu or yuna. Otherwise, Esuna under white magic is basically Remedy and only costs mp.
also it's better to heal between fights, instead of starting random battles one foot in the grave and immediately using valuable / rare items like Mega Potions lol 2:52:41 Witnessing this always makes my brain explode lol
She tried to do Esuna at 1:45:20. I'm pretty sure it's because she's pressing up/down when she needs to press right/left, but this is the second video she has tried to use Esuna but wasn't able to target the character she was aiming at and now believes Esuna can't be used to cure petrification. The cursor started on allies, went to enemies, back to allies, back to enemies, then she went left/right through the enemies, then up/down back to allies, back to enemies, pressed left/right again on the enemies, etc... But at no point did she ever press left/right to cycle through her allies with the Esuna spell. It's a little painful to watch. lol

When you have the Sensor ability on weapons, you can see an enemy's weaknesses, resistance, etc. in the chart underneath their HP during battles. Red is Fire, White is Ice and so on.
I remember arriving at the Calm Lands back then, checking the map and my heart sank when I saw just how far north the party is at this stage. Sank, because I knew this journey was slowly coming to an end. And I enjoyed this game so much, I didn't want it to end yet. Even the music here, peaceful as it is, has a slight melancholic undertone to it.
I love how despite your interesting scan skills you are creative and clever enough to pull out victories whenever you are in a tight spot. It truely is delightful.

Maggie, you genuinely are my favourite channel for playthroughs. You get so into the games that you play. This game is one of the most emotionally charged games of its generation. It made me want to go back and replay it again. Side note, the cut scene from the end of last episode is still one of the most beautiful cut scenes ever put in a game. The graphics were leaps and bounds ahead of anything else at the time.
For the sake of Spira :) , here are 3 non-spoiler, quality of life tips: 1. organize your inventory (Items + Equipment) - where? Enter Items / Equipment -> go one step back by pressing "back" ("B" or "o" ) -> you will find your cursor on the top gauntlet -> sort self/auto - advantages? find necessary items in battle quicker and more categorybased + customization is way clearer 2. shorter Aion-cutcenes (IF you want to shorten it) - where? under "config" 3. faster menuscrolling - how? pressing the shoulderbuttons for going "one side" up or down - advantages? especially in the long customization-equipmentlists hope they exist on your "International" version

This playthrough inspired me to pause my frustrating attempts to platinum ffvii rebirth (damn you Odin!), and start a new ffx playthrough. Just got past the calm lands, and playing and watching is making it even more fun 🎉 I love how much you are enjoying it!

Two things I would never trust to have in my room are a Weeping Angel plushie and a Tonberry plushie. But darn it if that Tonberry plushie isn't adorable. My moogle plushies can keep it at bay. 💙
Go 🔺 to guard and pass the turn (it's a "fast" move, so you just lose like half of a turn). It's a little like Aeons' "Shield", just fast and less effective.
Another great video Maggie and my 2 favourite bits are the moment you get to tame and ride a chokobo with such excitement on your face and the other was your first encounter with a Tonbury....and you go and grab the tonbury plushy while fighting it😂. You leaving the battle in silence after goofing up was also a hoot😂. It’s honestly so much fun watching play these games and honestly almost every game I’ve seen you play on this channel👍. I feel like I've seen you switch back and forth between party members and enemies unintentionally quite a few times now, so I just wanna mention: If you wanna cycle through all available enemy targets, you only press left and right. Up or down will always switch to party member selection after which you can use left or right to cycle through party members.

3:30:00 Spells can only be reflected once. If you pay attention you'll notice that the elementals cast the spells on themselves, not on Auron, which then gets reflected to your characters. You can actually do the same! Cast reflect on your characters, then cast the offensive magic on your own character - it will get reflected to your enemy and bypass their own reflect!
The one thing I loved about this game is that if you wanted to travel on foot, the npcs everywhere update their conversations based on current events. If you had gone back to besaid after meeting isaaru for the first time, you wouldve heard about his pilgrimage to besaid, for example. They also have a few updates to guadosalam’s farplane. At least, before you turn traitor. The guado arent so welcolming after that, haha

I never complete a combat without everyone taking a turn for exp. It sounds like that would add a lot of time, but in reality it saves a TON of time since it takes a matter of 10 seconds to skip a turn on everyone and ends up being like doing an entire extra combat or two.
There are some Al Bhed primers you can miss permanently. The ones you missed were XX and XXI at the Al Bhed Home before it was destroyed. They’re easy to miss since the story pushes you forward and won’t let you backtrack. One of the rare moments in this game doors lock behind you.
The way I like to level up using the sphere grid is at every save sphere, so youre not just stopping every time you get a level and you're saving a small amount so you can do multiple steps in one go.
@@Kastaclysm Yeah, about those Tonberry's.....they are in the Stolen Faith cave. And his big brother is in the Omega Ruins (Need airship to find). To capture Tonberry's - you need to hang out in the area where Ghosts are frequent. Do not max out the capture for Ghosts, until you got all the Tonberry's you want to get. The encounter rate goes down if you capture all the ghosts first. At least, that is how it worked on the original. For the arena, you want to get 10 of each creature for rare rewards. If you had taken the chocobo back to the area where you saw the feather, you could have gone to a secret area, where you get one of the best summons. The reason why everyone wants you to do blitzball is to get the attack reels for Wakka - as it does a max of 60k in damage, if you do it right. You get it from blitzball as a prize. Its a good way to take out the dreaded Tonberry. Don't know how far ahead you are, but I'm sure you have figured out you need zombie ward armor - (its made from holy water). Once past Zanarkand, you won't need it.
when you have a situation at 30:00 where you get ambushed and have 1 party member standing, consider switching in Tidus to use flee, or switching in Yuna to summon. There are things on Mt Gagazet that are extremely lethal, so summoning can just save mp and time.
Maggie, taking her own approach to character building, is just making this playthrough more interesting. I never seen Wakka so strong at this point in the game!
Time to get lost in the calm lands eh? Lol 🤪 I've got a good general play kind of tip, actually figured it out when I was initially in the calm lands, regarding getting everyone involved in a battle. You're getting it anyway, regarding one shotting enemies, but a good thing to do is to bring somebody in (Yuna for example) and just hit triangle to defend, it takes half a second, and she'll get the ap. Long story short, try and find something for everyone to do in each battle! If there's nothing obvious, just defend! And you know what is a strange bit of fun, letting your characters go up 20 sphere levels and then enjoying getting massive hauls of stats and abilities. It's strangely satisfying.

But if she misses getting the aeon souls here, i think she can get it later in the remiem temple Did you miss her at any of her previous spots?? When I played this game some 20 odd years ago, I ran Rikku down Tidus' then Wakka's path and she was so fast and hit so hard she was easily one of my 3 best characters I had. By the time I beat the game she had also run through Yuna's path and she was just amazing. But then I also had Yuna bonking people on the head with her staff for 20-30k a hit too and that was hilarious. Actually this almost makes me want to try playing again, and then swapping everyone, like running Lulu through Auron's path to begin with while Auron does Lulu's path. Making Lulu my heavy hitting tank would be really pretty funny.
when I saw her start this run, I actually started one myself on the remaster version. my main 3 are yuna, tidus, auron. So weird seeing Kimarhi being used so much lol.
About the Monster farm, it's definitely Post game, but the Level curve is pretty great. Every goal you achieve gives you new, superstrong Special breeds to fight, and you are at there Level when you are more or less done with the Monster hunting. They are all pretty challenging and interesting, and the Special breeds create special special breeds which you are able to face when you have beaten all your special breeds 😋 If you enjoy fighting, you grow relatively naturally and thd farm is an endless spring of Pokémonfun. And if you actually want to make true that you do everything there is to Discover, including all the secrets and sidestuff, then you have a run time of around 200 hours. Happy hunting ✌🏻
Long time viewer, first time commenter here. As a Final Fantasy veteran, I love the energy you bring to the game. These videos have prompted me to play the game again for the first time in many years, and I love it. A piece of advice (even though others have probably commented this already): You can cure any elemental Aeon with it's own elemental attack. Also, use the opposite element against any elemental mobs.
I think you might benefit from having Auron head towards Wakkas route, and then trace it back towards the centre once he reaches it. All of your other characters are doing fine though.
I love what they do with the group dynamic, they do become a found family each with a unique role in Yuna's life. But there is a blood relationship as well as Yuna and Rikku are first cousins and Rikku's dad and Yuna's mother are brother and sister. I absolutely love the Calm Lands theme and the Calm Lands in general because that's where the game starts to open up with my favorite side quest monster capturing and fighting arena.
I love your jaw dropping reaction the first time you fight or have a foretaste of a powerful breed of what you captured in Calm Lands, the nice specimens.....welcome to the BIG LEAGUE 😉
31:35 TIP: You can heal your characters in-between battles using Menu > Abilities > then use Yuna's Cure to heal each character. You'll save on items doing that. You can always get the MP back at a save point. Also, to gain XP for each party member in each battle, strategically swap, use the Defend command, then continue swapping until each character has been in. Each character will fully get the earned XP from the battle.

Yes... Monster arena time. This for me is by far the best bit of FFX, you can sink dozons of hours into this quest, or more. Wonder how far she'll take it, so many epic battles in that arena.
I've never seen the "four waddles" description for the tonberry. Now I really want to hear a Final Fantasy character say, "You're four waddles short of a tonberry."
Looking forward to this part of the game! It branches off and you can do a bunch of side quests now. With Chocobo racing, Monster catching, unlocking new items and rewards, exploring new caves. Cant wait to see the exploration! Now is a good time for blitzball as well, there are a few people you can get in the calm lands and one outside the cavern of the stolen fayth.
I always like to leave this stuff until you get the airship just because you can travel all over to get the best blitzball team to make getting Wakka’s overdrives a bit easier, plus travelling to the old areas for side-quests is a lot easier without backtracking!
you know, the information in the upper left, when you choose an enemy, you know the thing that tells you the HP... it also tells you which spells to use...

@Kastaclysm I know you read this way to late, but when you took a break before Yojimbos cave, you forgot to save. That´s why you witnessed the sequence again when with Lulu before entering. With that said, you now have missed the Key Item "Rusty Sword". This is a pretty important item, without saying too much, so I recommend grabbing it again. You also "missed" recruiting the Blitzball player due to this (if you really want him). Another, non-spoiler tips is regarding AP. You should always make 1 action with each character, before ending the fight. All you need to get full AP is an action, like Defend (which you can do by pressing left on the dpad). And it´s better to use White Magic (Cure) to heal between fights, than wasting all precious Potions.

You tried to heal Bahamut with Fire on itself. Bahamut is non-elemental!! So it won't absorb anything. Ifrit absorbs fire. Ixion absorbs thunder. Shiva absorbs ice. Like that. These can heal by casting their respective elements on themselves.
Just buy a lot of hi potions and teach valefor and bahamut the cure spell. I know it's rank 1, but with aeon scaling that would be more than enough most of the time.

I just have omega ruins inside sin and bikenal island to go.. I also have 2 fully powered weapons working on rikus now then I'll try again for Tidus I had .010 or some stupid number I was so pissed when I got hit by that bird

Probably commenting too soon as you may already have figured it out later in, but the chocobo feathers you see on the ground are there for when you are riding a chocobo and allow you to fly/jump to another area that you otherwise can't reach.

This playthrough inspired me to pause my frustrating attempts to platinum ffvii rebirth (damn you Odin!), and start a new ffx playthrough. Just got past the calm lands, and playing and watching is making it even more fun 🎉 I love how much you are enjoying it!

The little chocobo feather you found can be interacted with when riding a chocobo. Usually takes you to places that can't be reached on foot.

Yojimbo is one of the secret aeons. Secret aeons are extremely powerful, so they are not as staight forward to unlock as the main story ones.

Go 🔺 to guard and pass the turn (it's a "fast" move, so you just lose like half of a turn).
It's a little like Aeons' "Shield", just fast and less effective.
Another great video Maggie and my 2 favourite bits are the moment you get to tame and ride a chokobo with such excitement on your face and the other was your first encounter with a Tonbury....and you go and grab the tonbury plushy while fighting it😂. You leaving the battle in silence after goofing up was also a hoot😂. It’s honestly so much fun watching play these games and honestly almost every game I’ve seen you play on this channel👍. I feel like I've seen you switch back and forth between party members and enemies unintentionally quite a few times now, so I just wanna mention: If you wanna cycle through all available enemy targets, you only press left and right. Up or down will always switch to party member selection after which you can use left or right to cycle through party members.

3:30:00 Spells can only be reflected once. If you pay attention you'll notice that the elementals cast the spells on themselves, not on Auron, which then gets reflected to your characters. You can actually do the same! Cast reflect on your characters, then cast the offensive magic on your own character - it will get reflected to your enemy and bypass their own reflect!
The one thing I loved about this game is that if you wanted to travel on foot, the npcs everywhere update their conversations based on current events. If you had gone back to besaid after meeting isaaru for the first time, you wouldve heard about his pilgrimage to besaid, for example. They also have a few updates to guadosalam’s farplane. At least, before you turn traitor. The guado arent so welcolming after that, haha

I never complete a combat without everyone taking a turn for exp. It sounds like that would add a lot of time, but in reality it saves a TON of time since it takes a matter of 10 seconds to skip a turn on everyone and ends up being like doing an entire extra combat or two.
There are some Al Bhed primers you can miss permanently. The ones you missed were XX and XXI at the Al Bhed Home before it was destroyed. They’re easy to miss since the story pushes you forward and won’t let you backtrack. One of the rare moments in this game doors lock behind you.
The way I like to level up using the sphere grid is at every save sphere, so youre not just stopping every time you get a level and you're saving a small amount so you can do multiple steps in one go.

@@Kastaclysm Yeah, about those Tonberry's.....they are in the Stolen Faith cave. And his big brother is in the Omega Ruins (Need airship to find). To capture Tonberry's - you need to hang out in the area where Ghosts are frequent. Do not max out the capture for Ghosts, until you got all the Tonberry's you want to get. The encounter rate goes down if you capture all the ghosts first. At least, that is how it worked on the original. For the arena, you want to get 10 of each creature for rare rewards. If you had taken the chocobo back to the area where you saw the feather, you could have gone to a secret area, where you get one of the best summons. The reason why everyone wants you to do blitzball is to get the attack reels for Wakka - as it does a max of 60k in damage, if you do it right. You get it from blitzball as a prize. Its a good way to take out the dreaded Tonberry. Don't know how far ahead you are, but I'm sure you have figured out you need zombie ward armor - (its made from holy water). Once past Zanarkand, you won't need it.
Tip: For capturing, use Lulu's demi to get the fiend's health low and then have the others finish the job.
when you have a situation at 30:00 where you get ambushed and have 1 party member standing, consider switching in Tidus to use flee, or switching in Yuna to summon. There are things on Mt Gagazet that are extremely lethal, so summoning can just save mp and time.

Maggie, taking her own approach to character building, is just making this playthrough more interesting. I never seen Wakka so strong at this point in the game!

I've got a good general play kind of tip, actually figured it out when I was initially in the calm lands, regarding getting everyone involved in a battle. You're getting it anyway, regarding one shotting enemies, but a good thing to do is to bring somebody in (Yuna for example) and just hit triangle to defend, it takes half a second, and she'll get the ap.
Long story short, try and find something for everyone to do in each battle! If there's nothing obvious, just defend!
And you know what is a strange bit of fun, letting your characters go up 20 sphere levels and then enjoying getting massive hauls of stats and abilities. It's strangely satisfying.

When I played this game some 20 odd years ago, I ran Rikku down Tidus' then Wakka's path and she was so fast and hit so hard she was easily one of my 3 best characters I had. By the time I beat the game she had also run through Yuna's path and she was just amazing. But then I also had Yuna bonking people on the head with her staff for 20-30k a hit too and that was hilarious.
Actually this almost makes me want to try playing again, and then swapping everyone, like running Lulu through Auron's path to begin with while Auron does Lulu's path. Making Lulu my heavy hitting tank would be really pretty funny.
when I saw her start this run, I actually started one myself on the remaster version. my main 3 are yuna, tidus, auron. So weird seeing Kimarhi being used so much lol.
About the Monster farm, it's definitely Post game, but the Level curve is pretty great. Every goal you achieve gives you new, superstrong Special breeds to fight, and you are at there Level when you are more or less done with the Monster hunting. They are all pretty challenging and interesting, and the Special breeds create special special breeds which you are able to face when you have beaten all your special breeds 😋 If you enjoy fighting, you grow relatively naturally and thd farm is an endless spring of Pokémonfun. And if you actually want to make true that you do everything there is to Discover, including all the secrets and sidestuff, then you have a run time of around 200 hours. Happy hunting ✌🏻
Long time viewer, first time commenter here. As a Final Fantasy veteran, I love the energy you bring to the game. These videos have prompted me to play the game again for the first time in many years, and I love it.
A piece of advice (even though others have probably commented this already): You can cure any elemental Aeon with it's own elemental attack. Also, use the opposite element against any elemental mobs.
I think you might benefit from having Auron head towards Wakkas route, and then trace it back towards the centre once he reaches it. All of your other characters are doing fine though.
I love what they do with the group dynamic, they do become a found family each with a unique role in Yuna's life. But there is a blood relationship as well as Yuna and Rikku are first cousins and Rikku's dad and Yuna's mother are brother and sister. I absolutely love the Calm Lands theme and the Calm Lands in general because that's where the game starts to open up with my favorite side quest monster capturing and fighting arena.

31:35 TIP: You can heal your characters in-between battles using Menu > Abilities > then use Yuna's Cure to heal each character. You'll save on items doing that. You can always get the MP back at a save point.
Also, to gain XP for each party member in each battle, strategically swap, use the Defend command, then continue swapping until each character has been in. Each character will fully get the earned XP from the battle.
3:38 the way I understand that sphere is that Lord Braska was picking guardians based on their misfit status maybe like he wanted to prove that he wasn't making a mistake by having guardians that were maybe not as reliable as others to other people?

I’d recommend teaching yuna black magic if you haven’t done so yet. It makes use of her high MP and high magic stats :) enjoying the playthrough so far

This for me is by far the best bit of FFX, you can sink dozons of hours into this quest, or more.
Wonder how far she'll take it, so many epic battles in that arena.

It branches off and you can do a bunch of side quests now. With Chocobo racing, Monster catching, unlocking new items and rewards, exploring new caves. Cant wait to see the exploration! Now is a good time for blitzball as well, there are a few people you can get in the calm lands and one outside the cavern of the stolen fayth.
I always like to leave this stuff until you get the airship just because you can travel all over to get the best blitzball team to make getting Wakka’s overdrives a bit easier, plus travelling to the old areas for side-quests is a lot easier without backtracking!

I know you read this way to late, but when you took a break before Yojimbos cave, you forgot to save. That´s why you witnessed the sequence again when with Lulu before entering. With that said, you now have missed the Key Item "Rusty Sword". This is a pretty important item, without saying too much, so I recommend grabbing it again. You also "missed" recruiting the Blitzball player due to this (if you really want him).
Another, non-spoiler tips is regarding AP.
You should always make 1 action with each character, before ending the fight. All you need to get full AP is an action, like Defend (which you can do by pressing left on the dpad).
And it´s better to use White Magic (Cure) to heal between fights, than wasting all precious Potions.

You tried to heal Bahamut with Fire on itself. Bahamut is non-elemental!! So it won't absorb anything.
Ifrit absorbs fire.
Ixion absorbs thunder.
Shiva absorbs ice. Like that. These can heal by casting their respective elements on themselves.
Just buy a lot of hi potions and teach valefor and bahamut the cure spell. I know it's rank 1, but with aeon scaling that would be more than enough most of the time.
