    Especially for an antique or used look, the inkjet result appears much more authentic. Top it off with a matt clear coat from the spray can and the overall look is radiant without looking like new.

    Thanks for the video. Here's a tip if you don't have a laserjet printer: you can get photocopies at a local FedEx Office. That's what I do and it's really inexpensive especially if you do b&w prints.

    I have learned so much from you. I did a colored inkjet graphic on a crackled paint, of course learning the glue method from you! I did on a thrifted $1 bread board. First time trying, going out of the gate full force! It turned out lovely!!

    I prefer the ink jet , looks more aged .
    The laser In my opinion for something more up to date .
    As I have ink jet then going to give it a try .
    Many thanks for an informative, easy to follow tutorial .

    How serendipitous that you uploaded a graphic transfer video today. I also uploaded a graphic transfer video today - it's my first ever video! And you and the channel Fix This Build That are responsible for my discovery. I was using both your methods, and in a rush, accidentally combined them. When I peeled back the paper, I couldn't believe my eyes! A perfect, easy, mess-free transfer. I made the video just so I could share it with you, as I've watched so many of your videos on the topic. Thanks for taking the time to share your skills with us all. It's greatly appreciated.

      @@OurUpcycledLife Thank you so much for the kind words.! I know you don't cricut - but do you have one of their heat presses or something similar? I have a knock-off brand mini heat press I got on amazon, the one that's like 4 inches big, and I also use it to make the transfers when I'm making larger items. I have some footage using it, so maybe I'll throw together another vid. And now that I'm thinking about it, if the mini heat press works at only 215 degrees, I bet your household iron would work also. Just like an iron on transfer on fabric. Dang-it, now I have something else I have to try! If you try it, please make a video because it will be so much better than mine!

    An interesting option when wanting a laser jet printed page… many libraries have a laser printer so you can take your computer there and print off at the library, for a small fee (depending on one’s library). Or, some companies will let you print on their laser jet printer for a small fee. For example, my husband’s work has a laser jet printer and he can print off graphics for me for 10 cents a page. Nice options.

    I do have a question still! I print on tissue paper a lot and always let dry then spray with matte sealer (2 coats), let dry then apply to whatever I am working on. This keeps my inkjet ink from smearing and works perfectly! I am wondering if I do that for graphics applied on wood maybe it would looks crisper like the laser jet ink does..?!?! Ever tried it?

    Hi Deidre, I use a Laser Printer and I don’t have any issues rubbing off the paper and have done many wood signs with awesome results. The only problem I sometimes have is that there is a cloudy film of paper left behind… I slightly dampen it again, only slightly and some more comes off but not all. I find when I put a coat of PolyCrylic over top, it helps… but, Is there any way around this?

    • @lorettalee4029
      @lorettalee4029 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the same issue, might be my OCD 😂. I cut as close as I can to the graphic before I use modpodge so it’s not so cloudy around the edges.

    • @OurUpcycledLife
      @OurUpcycledLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You sometimes can have that happen and it might be the paper you are using. Try and find the cheapest thinnest paper. the less you have to rub off the better. I jsut do really smaller sections when it still is cloudy like that a dip my fingers in a dish of water and work at it. All else fails yes poly will take alot of that away. I've tried many times with these transfers and none have turned out. I'll try a few more, but I do not see success with this as of yet. Also, not many sales on Etsy that I have seen from others, The items look cute but not many sales.

      This technique can be tricky with a ink jet. It’s much easier with a laser printer.

    Do you spray anything over it to protect it?

    How do you resize your photos to print for a specific size? I am needing a program to be able to print a photo in INCHES so I can print it the exact size I need. I don’t have a paint program on my iPad, if I do I can’t find it. I have several photo editing programs but none of them have inches, only pixels!! I am wanting to start decoupaging with photos and I need to be able to make each photo a specific size. Thank you.

    Do you know of any online company's that can do laser jet printing? I'm from a small area and no one around here prints using a laser jet. I just want to try a graphic before I buy a laser printer

    I think the ink jet gives more of a faded and vintage look...the laser jet is to sharp and crisp for the vintage look on what is suppose to be old wood...just my opinion...

    The laser printer was well worth buying. Could never get all the paper off with the ink jet and the smears, it just didn’t work well.
