Here's a tip...you can also print out the image onto 'tracing paper' and then transfer the image right side up onto your painted background using decoupage medium. No need to rub off the paper! :)
@@toriesepahmd6468 Its tracing paper. Transfer paper is something else. It's usually a thin paper covered with graphite that is used to transfer a line drawing to another sheet of paper , by pressing down with a stylus or ballpoint pen. It also comes in white to transfer to a dark surface. I don't know what material the white is but the process is the same. Most craft stores should carry it, an art supply store will have it too.
love it, thinking of doing something similar on canvas of a very old house in the middle of australia without your help I would never even attempt.... cross fingers for me. and thank you for all your knowledge and beautiful artwork artwork.
You're so inspiring! I've used image transfer in art for more than a decade now, but always had to use magazine images because they transferred best since I don't have a laser printer. Never could figure out how to use inkjet for a good transfer. I don't know why I didn't ever try your techniques (well, I didn't even try because the other worked so well and is very similar to what you do), but I didn't, and now I see how to do it. Thank you so much!
I love your experiments with image transfers! I do Goldens' brand fast image transfer, and the fluid matte medium is so expensive! I'm doing a bench with panels that I want to use other peoples images on, but it's of a vacation spot I visit, and want to live in someday, so I don't want to piss off the locals! This is a way of editing carefully chosen pics and making them more my own than other methods afford. Thanks so much, I'm pretty excited now; I had resigned to using lesser pics than I originally wanted b/c I can't afford to purchase use of 6 images!
This is a really great idea. Thank you so much for sharing this😊 I have had trouble transferring photos so I will definitely try this method. 7:00 a.m.
lol. you are adorable and informative. For some reason, after watching your video, I am feeling very happy, creative, inspired, and optimistic! I am remodeling my bathroom and I was thinking about painting over my tile and doing like a refinishing glaze technique with an acrylic resin topcoat to protect the new finish. BUT...now, I'm thinking, ...why not create my own unique glass tiles~!!!??? I am excited I'm going to go to our dollar store and get a bunch of picture frames with glass and experiment. I bet you could even use mirrors! Other than broken windows, or broken mirrors, I can't think of how else to get cheaper glass other than going to the dollar store getting those little picture frames there for their glass inserts. Or... even photo transfer like you did on the glass but then put those pieces of glass into acrylic pour and make those little individual strong acrylic tiles that will be durable enough to last in the shower and be strong enough to last through cleaning processes? I don't know? Like I said, you've inspired me~! There's one thing I can say for sure, my tile in my bathroom is going to be anything but boring~! I'll let you know how it goes if you're curious. 🙂 I'm going with an oil rubbed bronze look with some metallic copper as highlights in my bathroom. This will be such a cool way to totally customize and beautify my remodel project on a budget!!! Thank you for the inspiration!
@@katescarratt4267 thank you so much for your care and reply! i am successfully using this technique to make a completely unique wall in my bathroom. You have such a lovely smile. I always like people who smile while talking. I really enjoy your videos. Question... on one transfer it looked like there were a couple small boo-boos in the image part where the ink came off. For a fussy person like me who will see nothing else, is it possible to correct it with a bit of paint?
New subscriber!! I do alot of thrift flip and DIY projects, but came across your channel while searching information on decoupage for a furniture project. Thank you for sharing and for all your inspiration!!
Really enjoying reading your book. It’s so clear and comprehensive with so many great ideas! Helps to have injet ideas since that’s what I have at home, however I can order cheap laser prints from the office supply store as well. I am looking forward to trying this method very soon!
I love your videos! I wanted to ask if you can use gloss medium for transfers too? Your photographs are great too! Nice to see another person who still uses old style darkroom techniques as well as digital!
Hi Nitsa, thank you for all of your helpful videos. I would like to purchase an inkjet printer that uses pigment based ink and, among other things, would like to use it to create transfers. Can you tell me whether this process will work with pigment ink? I believe your printer may use dye based ink? Appreciate any knowledge you may have on this, I expect others may have either type and so it would be useful to know if there are any differences or if both work the same (could be an idea for a new video? :)).
Hi Charlie, myself I don't have access to pigment ink type printer but I read a little about it. What I found is that the pigment ink is not water soluble. So my guess is that this process will not work with a pigment ink printer. Seems like these printers are more available recently so I will definitely have to add a disclaimer in my next book. Thank you for your question 👍
Thank you for your time considering this, it is much appreciated. That’s what I thought but an expert second opinion is always worthwhile. I’ll probably go with the pigment ink printer as I want to paint over some printed images and so having non water soluble ink is necessary. I’ll let you know if I have any luck with any transferring techniques. All the best, Charlie.
I need to print a picture on a little canvas and then attach in the middle of a dress…do you think that would resist in time if the dress is hand washed?
I'm doing a colour photo transfer but one small item in the photo is not a bright enough red. What medium would you use to touch up the photo and brighten the colour BEFORE transferring it? A dry water colour perhaps? Acrylic?
@nitsa Hello and thank you for the wonderful tutorials. Have you ever been able to transfer a photo to a wax surface without actually adhering the paper on to the wax? I’d love to know and see a video if you have. ☺️
would like to know how long to wait to let the matte dry after placing the photo on wood. You didn't say how long you waited. You just said until it dries. How long is that?
For transferring to water bottle I will use the transfer method in this video: th-cam.com/video/_YfXXJ4DbWM/w-d-xo.html It's going to be more durable than any other transfer method. You probably won't need to coat it with any sealer (although it's always a good idea) and you will able to gently wash it.
I have tried this on canvas board, canvas and I'm not having good results. how long is a "few minutes"? it will start to transfer and then it will pull the paint up with it. please advise. I would like to join your classes too. Thanks.
Sandy, its difficult to time it exactly because it depends on how much medium I applied and even the weather. I pull it a little at the corner to see if it's okay to peel the paper. Also make sure at first you're only peeling the "top part" of the paper without touching the image yet.
I bought your book on etsy- which came in 5 files. Which file has "pg 38?" as referenced in your video? I'm having a difficult time figuring the files out.
Hi Libby, sorry about that, Etsy doesn't allow a large file so the book is broken to 5 smaller files. The paint transfer method is included in the "introduction to image transfer" file on page 14 👍 Anyway, If you would like (a free) access to the original e-book please contact me through Instagram (@NitsaCreativeStudio)

This did not work for me after a bunch of tries to transfer to a piece of quality watercolor paper. I think my inkjet printer paper is a little too thick maybe? The paper is difficult to rub off even with different amounts of paint, and when it does rub off, the image comes off with it. I tried rubbing newly printed image, I tried dried image, I tried some paint, I tried more paint, I tried spritzing back of image with water. Nothing worked. Oh well, on to a different project.
The paint is the transfer medium so instead of drying clear (like other mediums) the paint becomes the background. The image itself is black and white.
Maybe less paint will solve the problem? Also you can place a heavy book on top for the short duration of the drying, it might help to press the paper down evenly.
Hi Reba, I'm sorry to hear that but I don't think you actually ordered one of my books. I don't have any book for $10 and also non of my books is about multi-media. Feel free to message me on Instagram or FB if you have a receipt, I will try helping you if I can.

Do you need to use gel medium
No, that's the beauty of this process, you can transfer your image using just inexpensive craft paints 👍

What kind of paper you used..???can you tell me pls..

This did not work for me after a bunch of tries to transfer to a piece of quality watercolor paper. I think my inkjet printer paper is a little too thick maybe? I tried rubbing newly printed image, I tried dried image, I tried some paint, I tried more paint, I tried spritzing back of image with water. Nothing worked. Oh well, on to a different project.
Can you do this without colours?
Yes, you can use acrylic gel medium instead of the paint, which dries clear 👍
Why did you use colour paint? I didn't see the colour in the transferred image.
The paint is the transfer medium so instead of drying clear (like other mediums) the paint becomes the background. The image itself is black and white.
Can I also use a laser printer?
Yes defenitely! Please check out this video: th-cam.com/video/1NSIu14p1gA/w-d-xo.html
Very nice but I don’t understand why u need a mirror image??
The image is reversed when you transfer it 👍
Do u have to have a special printer?
No, this was printed on a low-end inkjet printer.
can you do that on a wine glass?
It should work if it doesn't break
How do we get your book?
It's on Amazon amzn.to/36wIGLc 👍
