So LOL, in the minute 5:55 the "bahia" guy was fooling around with the one with NY hat, because "Bahia" is also the name of one of the 2 main clubs in the Bahia state. The other one is the "Vitoria" (Victory). So Bahia X Vitoria is the local derby LOL. As the one that speaks english was asking him to say "welcome to bahia", the one with NY hat was replying "No! I'm not Bahia. You are the one that loves Bahia! I'm Vitoria." LOL but in a funny way of course. Great to see Alex and Lindsay with shorts and flip flops, casual, relaxed, drinking beer as a local, finaly getting confy and brazilian LOL.

Heey, I'm from Salvador, it's great to see your videos here. Please look for "Ilha dos Frades" you should definitely go there, it is one of the best places here in Salvador, also try to visit the museums here, they are very interesting for those who do not know the history of Bahia and Brazil.
There are other neighborhoods as interesting as Pelourinho, do not limit yourself to what you are seeing there hahahaha Salvador has even more to offer, unfortunately with the pandemic many things in the city are not working, but look for the neighborhood of Graça for example, there is pretty cool, or the neighborhood of Bonfim.
Also there is a square here called "Praça do Campo Grande" that every year is decorated for Christmas, try to go there too! You need to schedule a time on the website to be able to visit, but it’s worth it!

Beer is taken seriously in Brazil, lots of craft beer can be found just about everywhere and especially in the south, usually at a hefty premium compared to the likes of Skol and Brahma. Brazil is the world's third largest beer market, behind China and the US. If you keep your eyes open you will find places that more or less only sell cold beer and charcoal for the barbecue that also do home delivery. Many craft beer breweries have a small restaurant on site as well and are well worth a visit to sample some beer and a bite to eat.

They’re as terrible as Budweiser and rely only on their lower prices to sell. When you come to the South try some quality craft beers. Learn more about Bahia - CAPOEIRA
Few symbols represent Brazil as far as capoeira is concerned. This mix of dance, fighting, martial arts and music carries the culture of our country to the whole world.
Not everyone knows that capoeira was born during the time of slavery in Brazil. Research indicates that between 3 and 5 million Africans have been brought in to work by force, mainly in agriculture, mining or with domestic services. Capoeira was, at that time, a form of struggle and resistance by the slaves. These, forbidden to practice any type of fighting by the planters, “disguised” the combat movements with music and dance, creating capoeira.
On October 11, 1890, after the Proclamation of the Republic, capoeira was banned, under penalty of imprisonment of two to six months for practitioners, and twice for the leaders of the activity. If the capoeirista was a foreigner, he would be deported after serving his sentence. The so-called “capoeiras” were considered marginal.
Only in 1935 did capoeira stop being illegal, being later considered part of Physical Education and then sports. In 2014, UNESCO recognized capoeira as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Anyone who has ever attended a capoeira roda knows the importance and strength of music. Usually, it is accompanied by chants (solos or in chorus), clapping and instruments. The main ones are berimbau, tambourines and atabaque.
    Types of capoeira
Although there are many styles of capoeira, two are the best known:
    1) Capoeira Angola: studies indicate that the name comes from the port of Angola, the main point of departure for African slaves. For the Portuguese, all slaves brought from Africa were called Angolans. It is a slower style, with movements practiced close to the ground, very subtle. The most famous master of capoeira angola is Pastinha, who in 1941 founded the defunct Centro Esportivo de Capoeira Angola (CECA), in Largo do Pelourinho, in Salvador.
    2) Capoeira Regional: this style was created by Mestre Bimba, originally with the name “Bahian regional fight”. Regional capoeira has strong elements of martial arts in its movements. It is a faster game, full of fundamentals and learning orders, the famous “teaching sequence”.

Since you are in the state of Bahia I would recommend visiting Chapada de Diamantina, Trancoso and Morro de São Paulo ... they are all amazing paradises in Bahia.Thank you for sharing your experiences. Merry Christmas!
P.S: The feijoada that you tried in Bahia is very different than the traditional feijoada. I would recommend eating the national black beans feijoada when you’d are back to Rio de Janeiro. Even the way it’s served is different ... Rio de Janeiro is known for
Its feijoada. I think you are going to like it more. ... Salvador is known for its Muqueca de Peixe, Acarajé, Caruru and Abara.
I noticed you guys love açaí . Get ready to eat the real açaí in the Amazon region! There you will be able to experiment with some of the most eccentric foods and fruits in the world. You will also be able to see plenty of açaí palm trees. It’s amazing how it’s taken out from the trees. If you go to Belém you will be able to visit the biggest fresh market in South America. It’s quite an experience!

Guys, you really need to try our most famous and delicious soft drink! Its called Guaraná Antárctica and you can find it basically anywhere! Its made of Guaraná berries, which I believe you know because you've mentioned it once or twice when talking about açaí. Please, whenever you are in a bar, restaurant or grocery store, give it a try! You will not regret it 😁
