BRAZILIAN RIVER SWALLOWS US INTO A CAVE 🇧🇷 TRINDADE, RIO BRAZIL | PEDRA QUE ENGOLE "SWALLOW ROCK"

  • Today we explore Trindade near Paraty, Brazil. We see one of the best beaches ever, with huge boulders all over the beach. After that, we go to explore rivers and waterfalls to find Pedra Que Engole, a river that swallows tourists into an underwater cave. It's an incredible experience that you'll have to see in this video. This place is called "Swallow Rock" and it swallows people into a cave. For 30 seconds or so, you won't be sure if you'll ever see someone again, but then they emerge on the other side. Trindade is one of the best day trips when you're in Paraty near Rio De Janeiro. If you're looking for new things to do in Brazil, do this. This is the Trindade Brazil Travel Vlog at "Swallow Rock".

We don't eat "salgados" all day and in all meals, is more just when you are in a rush, at the street or something like that. In fact, what we do eat everyday is arroz com feijão (rice and beans).

Yes, I just wrote the same thing in my comment. For a full meal that's so inexpensive - they should look for PF for lunch. I am sure they won't believe how much food you get for such a small price! I love the food in Minas as well! Nobody eats salgadinhos all day -- as they are doing. It's a shame . I suggested to hire a private Brazilian local guide who could show them the real Brazilian food. Even for 1 day -- they will learn so much.

There is an additional option for getting to know different areas of Brazil besides on your own or with a "tour." I would suggest hiring a private guide the first day that you arrive in a place. I am sure you could hire a fantastic guide in Paraty for about $25.00 USD. I guarantee it will be worth while. When you spend time with a local Brazilian you will find out so much more than you can just discover wondering around on your own. As you probably have noticed, Brazilians are super friendly -- and usually a private guide will turn out to be a good friend. Won't seem like you are with a guide - it would be like spending the day with a fantastic friend who can show you all the interesting things about a place. Usually they will have a car -- and you won't have to waste time waiting for buses etc.
Regarding the food --- you are eating a lot of street food -- which of course is delicious. But typical Brazilian food is much more than that. Most Brazilians do not eat a lot of street foods. They have a Breakfast which is usually a coffee and fresh French style bread toasted with butter on a grill. Lunch is usually the big meal of the day - and if you are lucky enough to be invited to a locals house for lunch you will experience something special. If you can't do that -- try to find out from a local where you can find a "prato feito" restaurant. This is a complete meal, usually includes rice beans, pasta, french fries, vegetables, beef, chicken or fish, soup and dessert --- for about $5.00 USD. Yes, you can eat all of that for $5.00 USD and it is delicious. You pay more for your coxinhas, pao de quijos etc, then you can get for a complete Prato Feito. So look for that. Also, splurge one night and go to a Brazilian Barbeque called a Churrascaria Rodizio. It is an all you can eat Brazilian barbecue meat restaurant. There is usually an all you can eat salad bar included in the price - and then the barbecue is non stop meat being served to you directly from the pit skewers. It is really an experience. You might have to wait until you are back in one of the larger cities for a good churrascaria though.

    • @Pixelarter
      @Pixelarter 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I would like to add that for lunch, besides "Prato Feito" (a set meal on a plate), you should search for "Buffet por Kilo" where you pay by weight. They have a buffet where you pick whatever you want, weight your plate, and pay at the end. They are pretty cheap, can be found everywhere, and offer a great variety of food. Just make sure the restaurant is following some minimal hygiene measures regarding covid, like giving plastic gloves to serve yourself or has a staff to serve for you.

There are fresh food buffets in Brazil where you pay by weight of the dish, called restaurante a kilo. They are not like American buffets, they have a huge variety of homecooked meals, just recently cooked. They are an alternative to the more expensive fancy restaurants. You guys chose to go to a bakery or café and get snacks. Most Brazilians usually prefer to have a real meal during lunch break. You can find those restaurantes a kilo in small towns too. Minas Gerais is full of them. The state with the gilded churches and 1700s buildings. You guys should check Ouro Preto and Diamantina since you liked Paraty's ancient architecture.

When traveling to other Brazilian cities like Salvador, belo horizonte, Florianopolis, curitiba.... any city actually, you could try to find a "boteco" that sells food (it's usually a place for cheap drinks but the ones that dont sell food are frequented by drunkards), they usually sell cheap typical Brazilian food that you could describe as "soulfood". "Rodizio" and "self-service" (like a buffet) are pretty good too, cheap but usually with great food and you can taste lots of different dishes. In those places you can order a "prato feito" (or PF) it's like the day's special, usually very full with lots of food and very cheap.
I'm just saying this because it really seems, by your videos, that you two are living on caipirinhas and snacks, you aren't really enjoying our wonderful cuisine, and all of the options I mentioned are usually cheaper than eating just snacks like coxinha.
Btw, I'm commenting this in every video of yours until you notice it.

    • @TamaoChan

@@Thelaretus all this is true yes. About the rice and beans, this is a Brazilian thing, or kind of south America thing since some other countries eat it daily too, so I wouldn't be offended if they dont eat it the same way we do, but they still should try it. There's many fulfilling dishes that you can eat without rice and beans or just with rice, like "vaca atolada", "baião de dois", "bobó de camarao", "moqueca de peixe", "panqueca", "chuleta", "escondidinho", "galinhada", "frango com quiabo", "arroz carreteiro", "feijão tropeiro", "sarapatel", "mocoto", "feijao de corda", "buchada", "jaba", the good old "feijoada", all our different "caldos", all our different cuts of meat grilled or "churrasco"....... there's so much more than coxinha, pao de queijo and acai, brazil is huge, every state has their preferences, but there's so, so much more than snacks.

São Paulo has 3 city centers today. The old 19th century uptil the 1940s downtown with the cathedral and the stock exchange. Paulista Avenue was the 20th century new downtown and now Faria Lima as the new financial hub, and Parque do Povo where I saw Paul McCartney jogging and riding a bike. Rio's old center is the area around the 1600s aqueduct. The carioca cathedral that looks like a pyramid was built over a mountain that was imploded, exploded. That hill had a castle on its top during the 19th century that served as communication with ships using flags.
All countries colonized by European hardpower have this main square and main street style in small towns. It might differ a little bit but it's there. The grid is a new thing.

Almost there. Go to Buzios. It is the other side, which means to the west. I guess it is 3 hours from where you are. But Paraty is good. Now you guys started the trip.kk Another cool tip if you guys want the countryside. Visit Petropolis. Brazilian history is there. And it is a bit cooler than the beaches. What i mean by this is the weather. Good luck for you guys.

And also a tip: I don't really know if you guys take tips, but I would say for you to try to visit Nobres in the state of Mato Grosso. They have this amazing macaw sanctuary and crystal clear natural sweet water pools that kept untouched after many years. It's a personal favorite but it's kinda not big of a tourism city yet.

These snacks are not our main meal, but it seems that you are choosing them. The basis of our main meal, for lunch and dinner, is beans and rice, which comes with meat and some other complements. Places to eat our main meals for lunch and dinner are spread all over the country. If we don't eat our main meals, we don't have as much resistance on a daily basis.
Make the video where you have lunch with our traditional food, beans and rice, steak, french fries, lettuce and tomatoes. :D

Suggestion of places: 1: Serra do Cipó, next Belo Horizonte. (Waterfalls, hiking, mountain bike)
2: Ouro Preto used to be the gold capital of Brazilian colony. Charming town with tons of churches with interials covered in gold.
Minas Gerais is the place to grow fat.
3: In the state you can find the Estrada Real. It is a root of historical towns. Mostly you can eat realy realy well, find good cheese and cachaça. Away from the coast. Our sea is of hills.
4: Inhotim is the biggest museum of contemporary in the world. It feel like a botanical park with art everywhere. Also close to Belo Horizonte.

@@morenasilvaoficial In general I comment in English if something has been posted to an international audience. If you used English more often, you would notice it is kind of frustrating. Filipinos often talk in Tagalog in the middle of a video that has a name in English and starts out in English. Or heavy Polish spam in completely American-centered shitposting FB groups. I really find it odd.

If you are enjoying Parati, wait until you know the beaches in the northeast. In my opinion you are eating a lot of snacks, there are typical and inexpensive dishes, you may need guidance from a local. In Brazil it is usual to have a specific dish for each day of the week. For example: Monday the dish is "virado à paulista" , Wednesday is feijoada and Thursday is lasagna. Depending on the region, the menu may change.

It is worthwhile for you to know the typical dishes of Minas Gerais, Baiana and Gaucha food. Among all the countries in America, Brazil has the richest gastronomy.

Guys, ur videos are amazing, but I have to tell you something: you are having a distorted view of the Brazilian reality regarding food. Although we have an extensive variety of fast foods, such as coxinha, cheese bread and others, it is not common and usual for Brazilians to eat just that. As already mentioned by many here, you have to order "PF" which is the "prato feito" in restaurants, or explore for complete meals. Do not stick to just eating coxinha, pao de queijo and açai. The daily Brazilian food is wonderful, cheap and nutritious, it will be up to you to want to explore the real cuisine, instead of creating a habit of yours, but that has nothing to do with the reality of the country. Just saying this cause you said that our food is more snacks and fast stuff, differently from Peru, but maaaaaaan, you dont discovered our food YET. Hope a good trip and a good stay in my loved country. AND PLEASE: GO TO CABO FRIO AND ARRAIAL DO CABO, you are so close to it.
