30 times to Brazil, never been robbed. Just once, I had a necklace showing on my neck, someone tried but failed. I even walked in Copacabana at 0200, nothing happened.

Use common sense, do not carry too much cash, I used a very old phone, no jewellery or expensive watches, when you go to the beach just bring a couple of hundred reais. If you go to Lapa to dri k be careful and do not accept any drinks from someone on the street, it may be spiked. I love Brazil and hopefully will go again next year.

aaah!! you made my day! hehehe!! thanks! =)
Humm... for recife... I was there last week (as a tourist) and I could realize it´s cheaper than other capitals in BR. The best area to live is Boa Viagem.
If I were you, I would choose something on Airbnb because the bureaucracy to rent long terms stays in local websites its too complicated.
If your long term stay is less than 1 year... airbnb is your best shot.

Don’t trust people who looks like a employee from some place with paper and pens on the streets too and sayings that gonna give you a ride to your hotel , and offering things for feee like 3 days in a hotel 5 stars is just a big scam in the end they will charge you a lot or force you to buy something

I lived most of my life in Brazil. I was mugged multiple times, had my life in real danger by criminals pointing guns or knifes at me. Having phones and wallets in the front pockets will only avoid pick pockets, but it will do nothing against armed robbers who are everywhere. Crime in general is not higher in Brazil than in Europe or some parts of the US, but violent crime like armed robberies and killings are much higher in Brazil.
I left the country for good due to lack of safety and rampant corruption.

I have lived in Brazil for over 10 years, and I have a very bad experience. I've been robbed more than 3 times, my family has been kidnapped (they only stole money and didn't hurt, luckily). There was a time when my colleague didn't return money I lent, and when I ask about it they get angry. Worse is that many bandits use their money to buy drugs and cachaça. I've heard a case where an elderly man lost all his belongings, even documents because of the robbery and he's living on the street now. I became a youtuber to show the reality of Brazil to the poor immigrants who are arriving here

I can accept it all, really, but not using my phone on the streets 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️no, no, no!
I go to Brazil to take pictures and not to use my phone in a shop, restaurant or my hotel.
If I cannot take pictures in the old town of Rio, Salvador, Sao Luis and Recife then why bother going there? If only small towns like Ouro Preto, Diamantina, Goias, Paraty are "smartphone-safe", then I will only have pics of Brazilian provincial towns? Just see what is going on there now at the airports and you will never come back there. look at the 2 Brazilians who are being held in Germany because they got there and their bags are full of cocaine. Some traffickers changed their tags at the baggage loading area, without being scanned and YES all got on camera. it's being a frequent issue with Brazilians being arrested including Portugal and Spain. yes, super safe to be there and get out there with a jail card. Please people pay attention, this kind of crime is there for all to see. • @JohnTaylor-bf6ll
    @JohnTaylor-bf6ll ปีที่แล้ว

    OK.
    Here are my tips.
Dress like a pedreiro with a bit of paint on your T-shirt.
Instead of a shopping bag, carry an old tin of paint with a handle, empty of-course, and looking well used.
You can put your money inside, under a dried ring of paint at the bottom of the tin.
If you like going round everywhere on the bus (as I do) put your paint tin temporarily in a plastic bag (otherwise the cobrador may object).
If you're wearing tennis (trainers) instead of chinelos (flip-flops), don't wear designer models - always keep it old (worn).
And the moral of everything is - who do you want to impress with your swanky clothes? What benefit is it going to bring you, apart from being charged higher prices.!!!!!!!!!!!!
You'll have a fabulous and unpretentious time in Brasil with real people, far from those just out to appease tourists.
