    I want them to boost forecast:
    Not it change form when in a weather, but let castform summon the weather when entering the battle, based on his move (sunny day, rain dance or snowscape) in the first slot.
    Add also immunity to wind moves when transformed.

      A bit complicated. Giving it a stat boost when transformed is plenty to me

    • @mjm3091
      @mjm3091 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be fair, with how it's an artifical Pokémon, it would be nice to just give it an evolution that gets a better version of the ability and better stats. You could just bring the weather based on all the moves it has - picking the prominent typing. Also give it other weather types we have in the games, like Strong Winds and Sandstorm.
      And in case where it has no moves of different typings, but has Weather Ball - it could just rotate constantly.
      Just making it activate every time Weather changes/stops, would be broken.

    • @pokeperson1000
      @pokeperson1000 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think giving a form for every weather condition, as well as increasing the effectiveness of all moves that are uniquely affected by weather, is the most logical idea.
      Increase the damage of Thunder, Hurricane, Blizzard, Weather Ball, Solarbeam, etc.
      Remove the debuff that Thunder/Hurricane gets in sun, the debuff that Solarbeam, Morning Sun, etc. gets in rain. Stuff like that.
      Also healing moves that are affected by weather become more effective in their respective weather conditions. Morning Sun boosted by sunlight? Boost it further. Hacked the ability onto Palossand? Have Shore Up get an even bigger boost in sandstorms.
      And why not. Have weather setting moves get a natural duration extension even without their respective weather rocks. Only Castform is getting this ability anyways, base 70 stats across the board isn’t gonna break anything even with all these buffs.

      @laim9844 Even being marginally better than Multiscale is a bit of a stretch, because most setup sweepers with Anticipation - like Galarian Rapidash or Toxicroak - will still get bodied by even a decently strong neutral attack, whereas Multiscale or an equivalent would give them an overall better chance at sweeping when starting from full.
      For mons like Ferrothorn and I guess the Wormadams, it would indeed almost always be better than Multiscale. Though they still get bodied by quad weaknesses regardless.

    I've had the idea for a while that Heavy Metal and Light Metal would have additional effects besides halving/doubling weight. Light Metal could give a slight boost to the pokemons speed stat, like 1.2x (something like 1.5 feels like alot) and Heavy Metal could either prevent flinching or reduce damage from contact moves (since having double the weight will make it harder to knock the pokemon down)

    I think Plus and Minus would make more sense to do something like:
    Plus: Boost you and your allies' Atk/Sp.Atk by 15%. If Minus is also on field then this effect is amplified.
    Minus: Reduce the foe's def/sp.def by 15%. If Minus is also on field then this effect is amplified.
    Plus + Minus: Boosts you and your allie's Atk/SpAtk and reduces the foe's def and SpDef by 30%

    4:20 I think as a fun bonus they should both get their abilities strengthened a bit if both Plus and Minus are together, this way it keeps the original idea but now it’ll be a fun but probably niche interaction instead “Go out of your way to keep these two pokemon out or else they’re effectively ability-less”

    On Honey Gather, nerfing bug types is the last thing bugs need. Having it buff the Speed stat of an ally bug type 1 stage on first, or each entry, or have a chance to do so after using a bug move, or only while it's out would make bug types much more threatening in doubles and possibly justify having two or more team slots occupied by one of the worst types in the game. You could also keep it uniform.
    Volcarona, Araquanid, and Scizor are the top 3 bugs used right now, excluding Ribombee, and only Volcarona has notable usage %s (based on Pilalytics). Last Regulation, the only bug type to do anything at all was Volcarona. Araquanid's usage was the second highest at 0.15%.
    The only possible issue while we're still in SV would be Tera Bug, but that would make for more interesting moments or team comps in my opinion. One would be sacrificing a potentially important type change or STAB damage boost for one with massive downsides and the possible upside of Speed boosting if you bring the partner pokemon.
    The idea of trapping Grass types is still good, too. I get wanting it to interact with bugs, but nerfing them shouldn't be it. If you want to keep the ability tied to that, I would consider making the other type Fairy, as some folklore suggested faeries drank flower nectar, and others used milk and honey as a peace offering.
    With only Ribombee, Teddiursa, and Combee having it, we could very easily get away with "Traps opposing Grass and Fairy types. (Variant on) Boosts the Speed of ally Bug types." And that would be a huge buff to the typing. It could, however, be completely uniform, too. All other Grass and Fairy are Trapped, All other Bugs get the Speed Boost. And it would still be interesting even if much weaker.

    Agree. I've also always believed that Honey Gather should have a tiny healing effect, and if no items are held, to give a Honey, which should be a consumable that not only heals, but also increases Sp. Def.

    I think Ball Fetch could be used to get a Ball-like item, like a Toxic Orb, Life Orb or similar, when someone loses it (via Knock Off) or throws it (via Fling). I believe those items, especially Flame/Toxic Orb should get quite a bit more damage (currently it's like 30, I'd say at least 70), which would also help the ability. If you also pair it with being unaffected by the negative effects of such items (10% recoil from Life Orb, Burn/Bad Poison from Flame/Toxic Orb), that would be a pretty great ability to give someone.

  • @christiancinnabars1402
    @christiancinnabars1402 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    For Plus and Minus, on top of boosting the user's side of the field's offenses and reducing the opponent's side of the field's defenses, they could also boost Electric type attacks from the user's side of the field by 20% akin to a Magnet (which has a positive and negative charge) or a Zap Plate.
    And when both effects are present, their normal effects can be bumped up to 15% and the Electric type boost can be bumped up to 50%. In total boosting their Electric damage by 98%, or almost 2x.
    In a vacuum, this sounds very strong, but the fact that all Plus/Minus users are pretty weak or slow except for Toxtricity (who has to give up Punk Rock Boomburst and Overdrive) makes this more balanced in practice. Every single Plus/Minus user is also weak to Earthquake, so unless you want to forgo an item to run Air Balloon and get insta-popped by Rock Slide, the counter to Plus/Minus spam is already fairly obvious.

    My first idea for Hiney Gather was kinda silly and either Usless or OP, where each time you get hit with a special move-it gives you a latent special attack boost that doesn’t activate until you drop below 50% so like… you get hit with two water guns and then go under 50%, you’d get your Special Attack sharply raised.

    Really cool ideas for these uncompetitive abilites! The Illuminate one would benefit me a lot since I tend to use moves/mons with not so perfect accuracy on my teams, but I think Honey Gather seems like would become the best of them for future formats to prevent Amoonguss from healing with Regenerator.
    Speaking of buff targeting specific things to have more diversity and gameplay options, a while ago I thought that it would be nice if more types had additional interactions beyond just the chart type, like Grass's immunity to powder moves and Leech Seed, Ice and Rock's Defense and Sp. Defense boost in their respective weathers, Dark's immunity to Prankster boosted status move, etc. It should be a buff to improve a bit the Type as a whole while also staying in the theme of it. Out of all the types that currently don't have an additional interaction beyond the chart type there's Psychic, Fighting, Bug and Normal (Dragon and Fairy also don't have an additional interaction, but these 2 for sure don't need more buffs).
    For Psychic it makes sense for Pokemon of this type to have increased resistance to mental infliction stuff, so I thought that all the conditions that are healed through the use of Mental Herb last 1 turn less on Psychic type Pokemon. At first I thought Psychic types could have a one time per battle immunity against these effects, like a built-in Mental Herb, to help out the little Psychic guys, but I'm sure with this there would be some strong powerful Pokemon already held back by its Psychic typing that could abuse this to brokeness, so the 1 turn reduction on these effects sounds like a better way to buff the type in the thematic of it.
    For Fighting I've thought of 2 things: first one is that they couldn't be flinched for 2 turns consecutively and the other one is that on switch-in they break Stealth Rocks if they are up. The flinch resistance is something I thought of because of the affection bonus that Pokemon in normal playthrough can have, like when they survive with 1 HP a move that should have KOed and displays a message like "Your Pokemon toughed it out so you wouldn't feel sad". The Pokemon in this case doesn't drop because of the power of friendship, but for Fighting types they would resist the 2nd flinch in a row because of their hard training and discipline alloweded them to tough the flinching out. This would be a good counter against the Fake Out spam currently in VGC with Incineroar, Rillabom, Iron Hands and sometimes others that when paired together allow for chain flinching against one Pokemon that essentially doesn't get to participate in the match if they're not Ghost type, have Inner Focus or Covert Cloak. The Stealth Rocks breaking part is something that makes sense thematically, since Fighting is super effective against and resist Rock type, and gameplay wise, since it gives Fighting a defensive use when compared to the other types that resist and are super effective against Rock (Steel is undisputed the best defensive type and Ground has an Electric immunity).
    Bug needs a lot more than just out of the type chart buffs and Normal doesn't really have anything that sticks out to me that can make sense with the type.

    My thoughts (that no one asked for):
    Honey Gather could work like Leftovers.
    Ball Fetch bounce "ball" moves back to the opponent (see Chesnaught's 'Bulletproof'), literally returning the ball to the thrower.
    The changes to Plus and Minus I like a lot! It would make Plusle and Minun much more threatening as a duo, as they'd both start with the effects of a Nasty Plot essentially.
    Anticipation could raise evasion one stage if the opponent has a super effective move. Based on your logic, if they're anticipating, they'll be more like to dodge every move and not just the super effective ones.
    Illuminate was already fixed but it could combine with your change too, that would be great.
    And yeah, Run Away should've been this way from the start.
    Great video!

    An idea for some other bad abilities:
    Klutz makes it so the Pokémon can't use their held item. To make it more viable, perhaps the Pokémon could be so klutzy when holding an item that the opponent lets down their guard, lowering their ATK and DEF by one stage. This only works if the Pokémon with Klutz is holding an item.
    Stall makes it so your Pokémon always moves last. I think one easy way to make it better would be to have the Pokémon's attack deal more damage, and also have the Pokémon take less damage from opponents while stalling. Basically adding a worse version of the move Bide to Stall.
    Weak Armor is an ability that lowers the Pokémon's DEF and increases its speed when hit by a physical move. I think a good way to make this ability better is to also increase the Pokémon's evasion whenever the ability activates, but only for physical moves.

    Another idea for Ball Fetch could be that landing a physical attack steals an opponent's item if the user doesn't have an item. Yamper might do well in the baby league running a Sitrus Berry then stealing a Life Orb or something.
    For Plus and Minus, I think they should have bigger stat bonuses and affect defenses as well. Maybe also change them so they do slightly different things. (example: Plus gives 20% Sp.A and 10% D + Sp.D, while Minus gives 10% Sp.A and 20% D + Sp.D)

    I've got two different ideas for Illuminate:
    (a) a balanced approach, with the user giving a passive 50% accuracy boost to its own and its partner's ATTACKING moves while it's on the field. This means the boost isn't permanent, and will prevent unintended consequences such as turning Sleep Powder into Spore.

    ADD an Extra secret if it went that way with Honey Gather Teddiursa, Urasring, and Ursaluna also can't switch out regardless of their type.
    Ball Fetch should send back Ballistic moves and halve damage from it if that fails.
    If it went that way then the ability should just be made True + and Minus for those 2 Pikafamily and their version could gain the effect of the buffed version all the time then still have their effect in double battles making them cracked together.
    One time guaranteed dodge per battle nerfs chance by 10X after that.

    Ball Fetch and Pickup both should have the effect of picking items they lost through Knock Off or other means like the Magician ability. Knock Off alone is a REALLY good item denial move so I could see Yamper and any Pokémon with Pickup suddenly having a pretty significant buff, maybe not enough to be OU, but a buff nonetheless. Ball Fetch itself could also have Yamper bring back partner's items in doubles as an added bonus because Yamper is a good dog.

    Honestly, some other good changes would be making Tangled Feet boost evasiveness by 2 stages, pick up make you take any item that gets knocked off by the end of the turn, be it either your own item or the enemy's, which could be bad or good..... Normalize making other moves become normal, but already normal moves deal double damage, and without even accounting for STAB... Mimicry should change your type and give you a boost depending on the type of terrain, Color change should change your typing but make you change back to normal when you're about to get hit by a super effective move.
    Damp stops explosion moves and also weakens fire moves by 10%. Anticipation makes only the move that made the mon shudder become easier to avoid. Magma armor stops freeze and halves ice damage. Water compaction actually halves water damage along with boosting defenses. Truant will not make you loaf around the next turn whenever you click *Slack off*, which makes a lot of sense actually, cmon. Defeatist only lowers your attack and special attack by 30% and only on red health. And Slow Start only lasts 3 turns and switching out doesnt reset the counter. Zen Mode has different effects based on the Darmanitan. With the Galarian one, it changes its form and sets up the snow. But on the Unovan one, it changes its form and immediately sets up a Trick Room, so you can actually take advantage of it.

    I think Anticipation could completely avoid the first super effective attack but only activate once per battle and it doesn’t “shudder” on switch in so you don’t know if it has it.
    I think once per switch in would be too strong but even once per battle could give it some pretty niche use on even pokemon like Hatterene with better abilities since you wouldn’t be able to know if it has Anticipation until you try to hit it. Plus it makes it less of a passive ability that makes walls that much more annoying and instead opens up for potential sweeps from pokemon that wouldn’t normally be able to set up

    honey gather doing what you suggested would be a very bad idea in terms of balancing. Bug types are already especially bad in competitive and this would only make the type worse. trapping in pokemon is already very powerful but im not sure if the competitively average grass is one of the types that deserves to have this happen. What if it healed the pokemon and ally when switching in? so it could be kind of a side-grade to regenerator

    I think Ball Fetch should allow Yamper to automatically fetch (or thief/knock off minus the damage) any ball-shaped item an opposing pokemon is holding, be it a life orb or a mega stone.

  • @fadingdreamx

    Ball Fetch should be like dancer in a way so that if a ball based move is used by another pokemon on the field (the ones that usually get blocked by bulletproof) it will be repeated by the pokemon with ball fetch, effectively giving it a free move on top of its move this turn (and it has a unique mechanic with pollen puff where it will target an ally instead of the enemy if they used it to heal as well) cause that would be a really funny gimmick if ball fetch was given to other pokemon

    04:45 Frisk should negate a pokémon's item effects while an opponent with the ability Frisk is in play. So, a pokémon coming in with heavy-duty boots would get hurt by spikes, focus sash wouldn't allow you to survive being one-shoted, etc.

    4:43 That is a lie because of Lacey. Lacey uses Plusle & Minun when you meet her at Bluebberry Acadamy's entrance. She battles you for testing how strong you are. She uses the pokemon, which I mentioned before, Plusle & Minun and damn they're strong! Also with an Excadrill because she is Clay's Daughter after all, but that is not the case! I am here to tell you about Plusle & Minun being broken! Laugh if you want to think that Plusle & Minun just are garbage and I am just bad at the game, which I am not. People should know about Plusle & Minun abilities because of this video, but some people don't know about Plusle's & Minun's hidden abilities. Plusle's hidden ability is Lighting Rod and for Minun's hidden ability is Volt Absorb. I forgot to mention that this fight is a double battle, with Lacey's team being Lv. 70, it gets more harder to defeat them. Plusle's moveset is: Discharge, Alluring Voice, and Grass Knot. Lastly, Minun's moveset are: Helping Hand, Discharge and Swift. Making them more scarier together than fighting Ultra Necrozma without a Status condition.

      I think a damage reduction, instead of a complete loss of the turn, would be very valid. Like 50/75 percent damage reduction. This way protect doesn't completely destroy it while also giving it some counterplay that isn't completely crippling.

    I like the idea for Anti ipate, though Id change it to reduce the accuracy of supereffective moves on the pokemon to 50%, like what Wonder Skin does for status moves. This is purely opinion, but a 10% chance doesnt feel worth it.

      Unbelievably broken and frustrating. It would effectively be Thick Fat for super effective moves, that's insane. Pokémon company figured out the accuracy reducing stuff is super annoying and they don't really bother with it anymore

    • @500shades6
      @500shades6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lukieq12 I respectfully disagree. The pokemon lines that get this ability (Whiscash, Toxicroak, Wormadam, Hatterene, flittle, Galarian Rapidash, Eevee specifically, and Ferrothorn) either have more useful abilities or have mediocre ones. This also wouldn't affect strong Non super effective moves, enemies would still be notified of the ability via the pop-up text, so it can be played around. Perhaps bumping it from a 50% to 75 % would be more manageable, but I'd be fine with the former.

      @@500shades6 Anything that reduces accuracy feels terrible to play against and GF have demonstrated they have moved away from such moves. Making the moves less strong, rather than miss, would be more fun for everybody

    • @500shades6
      @500shades6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lukieq12 What GF has done is irrelevant in this, as we are speculating changes, not "What would Game freak do?"
      Making the moves less strong may be more fun for everyone (I don't know if this is true but I'll grant that it is), but it wouldn't make sense thematically to the ability name. Anticipation means to expect or predict something to happen. If I anticipate that someone will throw a punch at me, I'll be more ready to dodge it if they do. It makes more sense to make it an ability that allows for dodging then reducing damage.
      Accuracy reductions are terrible to play against specifically when they are indiscriminate and require super specific moves/strats to play around. For example, when a muk uses minimize, all moves against it are harder to hit, and the only way to play around it is to use an accuracy raising move, a move that can't miss, or use status/hazards. For anticipation, it only reduces the accuracy of super effective moves. What's the counterplay? Use a neutral hitting move. It's much easier to play around.
      Let's give another example with critical hits. No one likes getting random crit. If you setup with your mon and got killed by a random crit, it would suck. But let's say the opponent used frost breath, or Storm throw, or a move with guaranteed crits to bypass your setup and kill you. You probably wouldn't complain as much, as the crit wasn't up to chance.

    For honey gatherer, i know this video is about abilities, but we could make honey a consumable item, so it could work as a specific harvest, and has the odd settup where you start with no items potentially or a consumable.
