Yeah but to be fair, giving that thing a good ability on top of all of its tools would be kinda unfair. Good attack, excellent defences, good speed, strong attacks, and recovery? Too much for what can be caught pretty much like a box art legendary.
@@wafflebroz True but again there should be some counterplay present. Trick Room and Gravity can't be removed from the field afaik, and its not some weird understatted syrup apple setting them up but a restricted legendary
“Oh no, with his new ability Ho-oh will revive at 50% HP after I beat my opponent. I only got one pokemon left I don’t think I can win this” the ever so reliable stealth rocks:
@@JAYLID-z8k It only shines more in double restricted formats, and even there it heavily depends on the meta. In gen 8, for example, Ho-Oh was a genuine pick and threat thanks to Dynamax and having Groudon as a pair who puts the sun, boosting the damage output of Sacred Fire/Max Flare
I genuinely love the fact that deoxys just becomes aegislash on crack. When I was a kid, that's literally what I thought deoxys did because of the anime.
Tryna to think, if it doesn’t KO it’ll go down with its paper thin defenses. Reason why Aegislash works is because it’s slow and acts last. (Kings Shield being priority allowing it to change into shield form for the next turn)
Only problem is even Defense Form has 90 speed where Aegislash almost always goes last. It would have to be stupid broken where Deoxys starts the turn in Speed Form, swaps to Attack form if using an offensive move, then swaps to Defense after acting.
For some of the missing Pokémon: Meloetta: Rhythmic Performance - Repeated use of a move increases its power. Basically every move is Echoed Voice now. Diancie: Diamond Toughness - Gets a substitute equal to 25% of its HP on entry. This could be an interesting way to give Diancie more bulk (especially if it doesn’t get its mega back) Volcanion: Steam Power - Powers up water moves in sun. Basically giving Hydro Steam to Volcanion universally (why didn’t it get a move like that anyway?) Heatran: Geothermal Energy - Gets a boost to its defenses when hit by a Ground type attack. Changes the playstyle of Heatran a bit, imo, as it disincentivizes the use of Air Balloon, a common item for it. Cresselia: Sweet Dreams - Allows a sleeping Pokemon to use attacks at half power. A fun contrast to Darkrai that can potentially encourage putting your own Pokemon to sleep to avoid other negative statuses such as from Toxic Spikes. Mew: Progenitor - Matches Mew’s base stats to the opposing Pokemon if the stat is greater than Mew’s. Idk how this would work in doubles but I don’t care I think this is cool. Shaymin Land: Land’s Protection - Generates Grassy Terrain on entry. Grassy Terrain doubles its defense. This is a reference to its Pokédex entry, which mentions how it hides among flowers. Shaymin Sky: Gift of the Skies - Generates a permanent Tailind effect for as long as Shaymin remains on the field. It is thematic and emphasizes the stat changes Sky forme brings. May write up some more later.
Most of these are really cool. Except Heatran, that one genuinely sounds really bad. Maybe make it a well baked body clone instead, because the way you worded it with “disincentivizes air balloon” it sounds like Heatran is still taking damage.
Wow, dialga just broke the entire VGC. Stopping everything from moving would do wonders in perish song teams. All the games would look like this: Turn 1, perish song is used. Turn 2, both of your mons protect. Turn 3 (where the opponent could usually get rid of the shadow tag/arena trap Pokémon of yours), Dialga switch-in, nothing moves. Turn 4, trapping ability mon switches out, dialga protects, both of your opposing Pokémon die. Repeat one more time and you have a sure way to win any game
Would be cool if stuff like vattle effects and timers didn't work either. Burn damage, weather timer, trick room and perish timer etc. The only thing thst would work would be stuff that directly affect specifically dialga, like hazards
In the video it was stated that this ability only activates the first time Dialga enters the battle. So yes the first time it would work. The second time it wouldn’t.
@@T.W.0 You're right. Still, having a 100% chance to take out half of the opponents pokemon is broken. It would essentially turn every VGC battle into a 4v2
For Dialga: Time Shift (While Dialga is on the field all moves that require recharge do not recharge, instead you can;t use these moves twice in a row) For Palkia: Space Shift (If Palkia miss the target the move will instead be redirected to another target and has the same chance to land on it (doubles). In single battles if palkia miss its move it will have another chance to land with half of the odds) For Jirachi: Wish Maker (moves with delayed effects take have their effects apply on the same turn they are used while Jirachi is on the field (apply to Future Sight, Wish, Dive, Dig, Bounce, Sky Attack, Meteor Beam, Electro Shot, etc)) Every other idea is perfect though perhaps i would still keep that ground immunity in Latias and Latios abilities as a bonus (similar to how Water Bubble has several effects) especially if they are ment to be exclusive abilities. Speaking of exlusive abilities i wish some of them were not just copy of other abilities with just different name. I.e. Teravolt and Turboblaze are the same and Mold Breaker already exist. They could really spice those abilities up and add something extra i.e. Teravolt would ignore opponent abilites AND make it so that every move will have 10% chance to paralyze, Turboblaze would be similar but with 10% chance to burn instead. Dazzling, Queenly Majesty and Armor Tail are also the same abilities but with different names. They could really make them different in a way. They could keep their effects and as a bonus maybe Dazzling could also decrease evasion on the opponents, Queenly Majesty could add +1speed one time the first time the pokemon enters the field (similar to nerfed Intrepid Sword) and Armor Tail could prevent the user from getting hit by critical hit. 2 effects on each ability, yes, but they are not making them more broken, just more useful. Battle Armor and Shell Armor are also the same. Make Battle Armor decrease damage taken by 30% from physical moves and make Shell Armor do the same but for special moves. Insomnia and Vital Spirit are next. Make Vital Spirit prevent sleep and paralyze. Make Insomnia prevent sleep and increase speed if intimidated. I propably didn't list all of them but these are just from the top of my head.
If anyone has played Radical Red, the Ho-oh ability was implemented in something called "Phoenix Down" and was super overpowered on Blaine's hardcore sun team
2:05 - When you mentioned Dragon Darts, I misheard and thought you said Dragon Dance at first. Imagine that, though, if Palkia’s self-target moves became team-target moves for that turn! AoE Protect, AoE Recover… that would be a pretty broken ability!
Dialga's new ability is way too busted. Think of it this way: If, on your free turn, you decided to use the move Meditate, it would be equivalent to an Intrepid Sword boost. Now consider that there way, way better moves than Meditate available in Dialga's kit. Any attacking move used without any chance of Protect is basically an Unseen Fist attack. You could even go for a completely un-punishable Dragon Tail...
For Palkia my idea would be a bit different, mostly because I just HATE missing with one of my favorite mons. "Space Shifts-If this pokemon misses a damaging move, the power is halved and it hits instead." So like in an anime sense if it fires off a Hydro Pump it opens a portal to catch missed Hydro Pump and redirects it to hit, but because the attack had to travel longer it's power gets cut. For the Regi's while a nice idea to just give them Dragon's Maw for their types, I actually think giving them Water Absorb for their types would be better. They are meant to be tanks and Ice and Rock (I forget if Steel too) have Pokedex entries about repairing themselves and absorbing water/earth, which in battling terms would be absorbing Ice and Rock to heal themselves.
Honestly that sounds really fun, Dialga in return could have an ability that reverses half the damage of the last damage instance (only activates once per turn), so that multi-hit moves are actually quite good against it, and slower attackers end up better against it when dialga is statused with burn/corrosion poison, i guess it activates at the very end of a turn, or before stuff happens that turn
The unfortunate thing is, even with Lugia's new ability, I'd still run multiscale on it. It does run non stab sometimes in blizzard and earth power but no one ever bothers running surf or hydro pump. The idea is that it lives under the ocean to suppress its power of storms. Perhaps give it a storm boosting ability where any wind based attacks are boosted and ignore abilities? Or give it a wind immunity and a general boost when the rain is up? Or, if you want to be really OP, It sets up permanent tailwind while on the field.
@@WolfKnightLukos Refrigirate works slightly differently though, it turns normal type attacks into ice type, similarly to pixilate and aerilate. It would be kinda strange if every other regi just had an increased stab boost and then regice instead converts normal moves to stab.
Reshiram: Hyper Blaze Sets up sun and boosts fire type attacks by 30%. Every time a fire move hits successfully, boosts speed by a stage. If a Pokémon gets hit by a fire move, boost special attack by a stage. Zekrom: Zetabolt Sets up Electric terrain and boosts Electric type attacks by 30%. Every time an electric move hits successfully, boosts speed by a stage. If Pokémon gets hit by electric move, boost attack by a stage. Both neutralise abilities
Keyrem : Frostwave Effect : Sets up Snow, powering up ice type attacks by 30%. If hit by a ice type move, the user's sdef and def is increased by one stage. On Succesfully landing an ice type move, boosts the user's speed by one stage. Kyurem white/black - Frostfire burst/ chilling thunder Effects : Powers up Ice and Fire/Electric type mover respectively by 40%. The user cannot be burned/paralyzed.
In Radical Red, Ho-Oh was actually given an ability similar to Resurrection, it's called Phoenix Down, it's an ability that revived Ho-Oh once it had fainted with half of it's health restored
For Dialga, instead of this ability or the ever so proposed Auto Trick Room, why not somrthing like Timelessness : Removes the charge up and recharge turns of all attacks whilst this Pokémon is on the field Basically, you can fire off Roar of Time and Meteor Beams freely. Side effect : Dialga + Xerneas would be really disgusting in VGC during restricted formats
I think we could actually give Regice and Regirock special abilities based on their Pokédex. Regice is said to be unmeltable, so why not have an ability that flips its match up with fire attacks, resisting instead of taking super effective damage. Regirock can repair itself with rocks, so any rock type damage heals it instead. Registeel...honestly, I got nothing. Stretching, shrinking, unscratchable and hollow metal from another world doesn't give me much to go off of.
I was thinking Deoxys should basically switch between forms like a mega, but only once or twice per switch in, that way it can still attack while being defensive or speed forme and vice versa
I have my own suggestion specifically for my favorite Legendary Trio, Zekrom, Reshiram, and Kyurem. This is a buff to Teravolt and Turboblaze. I think these abilities should give STAB to Electric and Fire type moves respectively. On Zekrom and Reshiram specifically, this would stack with their existing STAB and give them an Adaptability type STAB where the boost is 100% instead of 50%. This buff was made more specifically for Black and White Kyurem. I always loved how Kyurem gets Fusion Bolt or Fusion Flare, but felt that the lack of STAB for these moves was a little lame. So Teravolt and Turboblaze would give Black and White Kyurem STAB for electric and fire moves respectively on top of the normal Dragon and Ice STAB it normally gets. This would be akin to Dhelmise’s Steelworker ability.
Oh hey: Lugia was specifically designed gor the movies. Another more beastial pokemon was planned for gen 2 to be a counter part to Ho-oh but everyone adored Lugia's design so much they replaced the beastial mon with it instead.
I would change overflowing space to “Spread moves have their damage increased by 1.25 times and hit for regular damage.” So specifically for palkia spread moves don’t have the change where the BP of a move is spread across all the pokemon it’s hitting but also so that it still has an effect outside of doubles there’s the damage buff.
I think for Deoxys, the form changes should be. Attack form for attacks. Speed form for status moves that affect the enemy. And Defense form for status moves ment for itself and allies and certain moves like protect, trick room and rest.
Ho-oh has its whole legend around bringing luck and being a sign of fortune, so i had an idea Benevolence: himself and other allies receive increased accuracy and evade chance
Reshiram and Zekrom: Their abilities, in addition to being a version of "Moldbreaker", now boost fire and electricity movements by 30% by igniting their tails upon entering combat, so also when Kyurem obtains the ability it finally gains an extra STAB. A rework of their abilities would be better, but if I have to be as subtle as possible, this is my proposal.
I would love dialga to have something like: moves that need to recharge/charge don't need to. Like, roar of time with no recharge or 1 turn solar beam with no sun
What if starter trios had unique abilities? Blaze/Overgrow/Torrent can lead to clutch moments in game... if you're not using items... but even with hidden abilities, some seem less thematic than others. Charizard: Burning Spirit - When this pokemon is hit super effectively, it gains +1 Attack and Special Attack. Leans into the berserker vibe that you'd expect out of a big angry dragon. Blastoise: Defensive Maneuvers - Self-targetting status moves have priority on this pokemon, and when you use one, it takes 50% less damage for the turn. You know how in the anime they can just pop into their shells to tank a hit and then come out fine? That's what we're doing here. Venusaur: Heavy Spores - This pokemon's powder moves linger in the air; if they miss, the move takes effect again at the end of the next turn. This also further solidifies the trio strategywise - Charizard is an attacker that wants to keep going until everything is dead, Blastoise wants to tank and outlast enemies before counterattacking, and Venusaur will bypass defenses with its status moves. Not only do they have elemental rock paper scissors, but they also have tactical counters to each other as well.
Lugia's origins are actually very well-known! She was designed for the second movie and the writer, Takeshi Shudo, never expected her to show up in the games. Lugia's lore in the movie is such that I could see Psychic based on both the telepathy (which was part of Lugia's repertoire before every movie Legendary could do it) and her connection to a specific song rejuvenating her, but Lugia also definitely has an association with the ocean in the movie as well. Also, I call Lugia a her because Shudo intended her to be female, but they couldn't find the right voice actress in time and had to settle for Koichi Yamadera.
kinda nitpicky but having deoxys change into speed form after using priority is really funny to me. imagine trying to secure a kill with edtreme speed and the massive drop between attack and speed forme makes it miss out on the kill. i'd explode
Dialga ability is just stupid in singles, start with dialga, get a free move, ko opponent in 2 moves or Have them switch out and get another free turn. Pretty much guaranteed sweep, as long as you ko everything in 2 moves you get double the turns. Youre out of your mind if you think this is a reasonable ability
Lugia's ability could also halve the damage of Water-type moves. Because if Araquanid can _double_ the power of its Water-type attacks and halve the damage of Fire-type attacks at the same time, then so can the (ex-)Great Wall of Ubers. It matches the aim of giving it a pseudo third type of Water without adopting the full benefits (Ice, Steel, Fire resists) or drawbacks (4x Electric weak) of the type, and would play into it being more defensively built, allowing it to deal with troublemakers like Water Spout Kyogre and such. Genesect's Douse Drive could raise just its Sp. Def like how Ogerpon's Tera'd Wellspring Mask does. Yeah, it has the Zamazenta syndrome of single defense stat raises being less effective than single offensive stat raises, but Bug/Steel is a good defensive type regardless and it won't suffer _as much_ as Zamazenta since its stats won't get butchered compared to its counterparts (it isn't losing out on 50 - 30 points of Attack on top of having no Attack boosts). It would give Genesect a niche defensive role against the plethora of special attackers running around restricted formats (Ubers, VGC whenever it is legal, etc) while still rocking around a 120 bp STAB Techno Blast off of 120 base Sp. Atk. Deoxys's ability could switch it to Normal form when it uses a self-targeting move that raises its offensive stats (similarly, Speed boosting moves like Agility could turn it into its Speed form). It wouldn't benefit the mon at all, but it allows the Normal form to be utilized more and even presents a built in drawback to setting up Nasty Plots instead of base 160 defenses allowing it to do so mostly unabated. For moves like Calm Mind, the offensive stat raise is prioritized, so even then it switches to its Normal form instead of its Defense form. Wish Maker having a chance to proc every turn can lead to shenanigans, but imo having it just activate when it switches out would be more controlled and thus better for both sides. Still too stall centric for my liking, but if it pushes Jirachi to Ubers then it probably would be bearable there.
For Dialga I think stopping all sorts of priority mechanics would fit, the moves would still go off, just based on the regular speed. Fake out still flinching if it hits before they attack etc. It's a big thing in both singles and especially doubles and switching it off for both sides would be very impactful.
A fun addition to Guardian of the Sea ability would be that the weather changes depending on which legendary bird is out with Lugia Moltress sets sun, Articuno sets snow, and Zapdos sets rain And if you want to get silly with it, the ability could cause the battle to end in a draw if you have Lugia and one of each legendary bird on the field at the same time during a double battle
maybe instead of ending the battle, a super maelstrom is created that does huge damage each turn to each non-legendary bird or windrider pokemon out on the field.
@@general.catallion_8054 it would be funny if all four Pokemon are on the field at once, then Guardian of the Sea causes all four to faint at the end of the turn
I think a better way for Palkia to get around the reliance on inaccurate moves could be to have every other attack (attack 1, attack 3, etc.) to have perfect accuracy. Groudon's ability should allow sun to boost ground moves or give it fire STAB while in sun
Mineral deposit and metallurgic being just rocky payload and steely spirit (if it worked in singles) is so funny. It's like how Cinderace has a signature ability but not really because it's just protean again.
For Dialga, I would give him a Power Herb-like ability to skip the recharge turns of Roar of Time and Hyper Beam. But make it so he can only use recharge moves like Roar of Time or Hyper Beam per other turn like Blood Moon. Ex: Roar of Time -> Flash Cannon/Protect -> Roar of Time etc
Change Roar of time to work like Blood moon and done. You're wasting an ability just to improve one move that clearly has been reworked now in the form of gigaton hammer and blood moon. if roar of time was made in gen 9 that's exactly what they're gonna do.
These are some of the worst ability changes i have ever seen, not only are they not balanced, but they feel extremely cheap and unfair, even more so then Urshifu or Calyrex ever were.
A good way of integrating wishes into Jirachi's ability would be to make it so when it faints it sets off the move "Wish" for the next Pokémon, but it heals for 100% of Jirachi's HP or maybe it works like normal but it also clears status ailments.
Strat with deoxis on turn use speed form and focus sash to go 1st then go 1st the next turn with just any op hard hitting move like does it get extracerory?
I had also made abilities for Palkia and Dialga, and they were pretty different. Palkia got +1 accuracy and evasion the first time it enters the field (like Intrepid Sword in ScarVi) and Dialga got priority to moves lower than 60 BP, including status
I had an idea for something similar to Forme Shift where Deoxys automatically changes between turns. Before its turn, it enters attack form (or speed form of its enemy is low on health) and it shifts into defense form before its enemy’s turn. Normal form is what it takes on only on the first bit of battle before any moves have been used
I think an interesting ability palkia could be given is the ability to negate switching moves. Moves like uturn, volt switch, teleport. I think it would be an interesting around the concept of space
Deoxys's form change should happen when it does it's attack. This way it can utilize its defense form to tank moves before ending turns in attack form after everyone else already attacked and it was able to survive. Priority moves shifting it into speed form would let it follow up the next turn with the first attack from raw outspeeding opponents. This would be much more useful and function more similarly to Aegislash's form changing
I just want a Bug-type Rocky Payload/Steelworker for Flygon. It's not because it would be better, it's because it would make sense. And just give it Sand Stream already. The pokédex talks a lot about Flygon and sandstorms.
Lugia is awesome, I played silver the mewtwo movie and his are the good ones. Anyway the guardian of the sea who lives down there being psychic and *flying* was always kinda funny. I fell like they didn’t want the box legendaries to have typing over one
Ability ideas Palika: Spacial distortion: Reduces the accuracy all Pokémon on the field when it enters battle for the first time Celibi: Double Time: celibi will add +1 priority to all moves Down Time: celibi will take away 1 priority from all moves Not sure how down time would actually help but it’s still an ability
Here are some of the Abilities for Legendary Pokémon. Mewtwo: (Master): Disables the foes Ability & removes buffs from the Abilities. Dialga: (Time Control): When the user is in the field, then any Speed altering effects & Priorities are nullified for all Pokémon except for the user. Palkia: (Space Control): When the user is in the field, then any Weather & Terrain effects are gone & cannot be in the field while the user is still in the field. Giratina: (Anti Control): When the user is in the field, randomizes Accuracy & Secondary Effect chances for all Pokémon. Also all Pokémon either have high Gravity or Levitates. This Ability does not affect the user. Reshiram: (Flames of Truth): Moves with Secondary effects always activate for Allies. Zekrom: (Lightning Ideals): All moves become 100% accurate for allies, except for moves under 50% accuracy. Kyurem: (Frozen Emptiness): All attacking moves have no Secondary effects & no Typing for all Pokémon. Except for the user. Calyrex: (King's Presence): Powers up allies damage by 1.2 & they cannot be infatuated besides from the user.
What I think they should get (before I watch the video) Mewtwo: Spoon Wielder: psychic moves hit dark types neutrally and do 30% more dmg Lugia: Guardian of the sea (blocks stat drops/status conditions for water types on your side of the field) Rework aeroblast to work like fiery dance Ho-oh: good enough already just give it revival blessing Dialga: Temporal reverse( if dialga spends three turns on the field all pokemon on your team get a sitrus berry healing amount) In origin form roar of time functions like blood moon Giratina: Anti-matter (works like neutralizing gas) In origin form shadow force works like a physical meteor beam but only does 100 dmg) Palkia: Celestial Zone: (when on the field the opposing side loses 10% acc and your side gains 20% accuracy+nullifies gravity) In origin form Spacial rend works like frost breath but with 80 accuracy Groudon: Precipice blades rework: same stats but it gets a 50% dmg boost under sun (make it fair like origin pulse cmon) Regice: filter (idk it makes sense to me) Registeel: Heatproof Regirock: Rocky Repair (This Pokemon heals 1/4 of its max HP when hit by rock moves; heals in sandstorm) Jirachi: Wishmaker(Iets rework it): 50% chance of using the move wish at the end of each turn but also 50% chance of giving a wish to the opposing team Eternatus: Generator: Everytime its hit by opposing trainer it raises the spatk and atk of itself and its partner.
I think Deoxys would go the Aegislash route of switching on a specific move rather than a move type, that way you can actually stay in defence form when using a priority move (going into speed form kinda negates the need for priority no?) maybe just for speed form, a specific move that engages it until your next defensive/defence shifting action
I mean, it’s probably better to have forme shift activate at the end of Deoxys’s turn, not much point in the defensive form if you’re using protect or a speed form if you’re using a priority move, it also allows base form to actually do something rather than just immediately switching into another form, which I think is generally more balanced Edit: Actually upon further review, I think it’d be better if Deoxys shifted on their _next_ turn so the form shift happens after the enemies turn so the form actually matters, it’s kind of like setting up
I think the best way to make deoxys work is by asigning the 4 forms to its moveslots. So you can't use both calm mind and recover with defense and you can only use one specific attack with that broken attack form.
i think it’d just be easier if deoxys could have to be holding a meteorite in order to activate the ability itself. no held items for an already OP ability like forme shift in the first place
One thing to add for dialgas ability is that i think that the turn that is lost, the next turn should act as the turn before. This is because time STOPPED not was wasted meaning the turn had not happened. This only affects niche things like screen turns, trick room gravity weather conditions etc but it also means that fake out isn’t completely denied meaning their is still form of counterplay to trick room teams. This makes sense thematically and in a game balancing way as its still UNDENIABLE trickroom with the flexibility of being ablw to Ko any pokemon without any counterplay if positioned correctly.
Personally to get around the abilities needing to match I'd have Kyogre's one boost attack as well because the last thing we need us tera water full hp water spout +1 in rain Kyogre. Dialgia also stands out as being overpowered even if it doesn't have the same dominance as Kyogre. I think it should induce the lagging tail effect on all others on the field when first switched in (and while we're at it, buff Roar of Time to have gen 1 hyper beam mechanics)
So, I have some thoughts about these abilities: - Dialga’s ability made me do a double take at how absurd it is. I know you said it would be balanced by making the flinch affect the partner, but I wanna give the friendly reminder that Dialga gets Trick Room, meaning there’s not a way to stop it on lead. If I could suggest, I would instead make it a flavored Armor Tail, so it only blocks Priority. - giving Palkia Dragon Darts on switch in feels like too much, even if you want the hit count to be based on accuracy like Triple Axel or Population Bomb. I would suggest making the second hit deal 50% or 75% less damage like Parental Bond. - The Regis, I feel like these are fine, as it would help deal damage using those lacking attack stats. - I feel like giving the Eons special Wind Rider would be too much, though I’m not too sure. Only if I can see these in action can I decide. But Latios next to Tornadus or Whimsicott feels like a nightmare. - I like reintroducing the primal abilities like this. It would give Groudon a needed boost to Ground moves and let Kyogre run an accurate single target move after losing scald. Just don’t make it disable the use of water or fire moves… - Lugia giving it a Water Stab with an ability makes, it would allow it to hit Steel Types without Earth Power. - Ho-Oh’s ability, I don’t feel okay with. Giving it Revival Blessing is one thing, but letting it revive itself feels polarizing. This pokemon feels like it makes 1v1 situations unlosable, as you can sack your pokemon and revenge kill with Ho-Oh. Also, I’m not familiar with how Blessing works. Does the revived pokemon come back out immediately if you only have 1 on the field? If so, I’m certain it would be more of a win-more, where you can only win off of it when you’re already in a comfortable position to begin with. I won’t take issue if the point is to give these legendaries these niches over having them compete with the likes of Calyrex, but I would still run Regenerator. - I think Download and the Ogerpon boosts should be kept separate, as a pokemon with a good defensive type such as this and it gets a certain boost would make an already strong pokemon even stronger. I would say have it choose between a 20% boost from the item and Download, and don’t give it any boosts. - the Deoxys ability sounds like a nightmare to EV around, as you have to calc for three different forms. Also, how does Priority hive it the speed forme from a battling perspective? It doesn’t need that high speed if it’s going for priority. I would suggest: set up moves or hazard moves should turn into speed, passive moves like protect and substitute turn to defense, and attacking moves turn into Attack form. - I can see Celebi’s ability, as letting a pokemon with a poor defensive typing be able to move, letting it live, for instance, U Turn, and still have it retain it’s defensive profile. Though I must ask, does it take each hit separately? Or does Celebi take it all at once in one hit? That would make Focus Sash pretty good if it were the ladder. - I would like to ask what the percentage of that would be. I would rework it to be a little less random, and just make it on switch in. Making it a viable pivot with its NOW semi good defensive typing. Also, I find it funny you mention AT THIS POINT that your Jirachi ability is uncompetitive when you gave Dialga guaranteed Trick Room and gave Palkia 100 base power Dragon Darts. I do like some of them, Regis and Weather Trio specifically, but for a competitive scene, some feel a bit overtuned, but maybe they may not be a big deal(except for Dialga’s). It would be intereresting to see GF make these abilities to see how they would function in a PvP setting.
Something i noticed about Japanese pop culture and the occult is their fascination with Extra Sensory Perception, aka psychics. From a western standpoint they are akin to super heroes operating in the shadows. Taking that into account, the psychic type could be somewhat akin to a super hero type, which makes sense since in the early generations, psychic were type for the really strong pokemon.
I think Jetstream is a bit broken but we could do it that if hit by a wind type attack, Latias and Latios do not take damage and instead set up tailwind on their side of the field.
I think Palkia could have reflected the new Dialga ability, like Empty Space. when entering Palkia cannot be be hit by the first attack. Of course it could be tweaked more to be more broken, but this way is counter Dailga's new ability.
Im currently working on a rom hack with reworked abilities and i like what your doing here! I gave lugia an ability called storm power. Boosts both flying and water type attacks by 1.3 as i wanted the ability to also represent its dex entry. Its wings cause devastating gusts and is often found in storms/ deep in the sea.
A Rework I would like is for Zekrom, Reshiram, Kyurem. Zekrom and Reshirams Teravolt or Turboblaze would still be the same but have an added bonus of extra stab for their Fire/Electric type moves Kyurem suffers from pressure. So give it basically the same thing the other 2. Since they used to all be 1. In a dex entry it said that it's power was so massive and it leaked out and froze kyurem. So give it a mold breaker and a ice type boost
Just a question, but wouldn't making speed forme deoxys out of priority moves be a bit redundant? Since you know, the point of using priority moves is to bypass speed. It would also make her very frail automatically without a signifficant benefit
Regarding Baton Pass Celebi, if the damage transferred was the damage number not the percentage of HP, it would create a meta to use low level Celebi with Baton Pass to transfer stats or or something without sharing too much damage with whoever it's being given to
Im glad we’re past the era of “throw pressure on everything”
Eternatus is relatively recent lol
Yeah but to be fair, giving that thing a good ability on top of all of its tools would be kinda unfair. Good attack, excellent defences, good speed, strong attacks, and recovery?
Too much for what can be caught pretty much like a box art legendary.

I've thought the same for how Arceus's Multi type should have worked. Instead of plates, make it change type like protean.
Palkia setting Gravity upon enterring the battle would help with it's powerful inaccurate moves and make it really unique.
Yes, but the turn 1 100% accurate sleep moves tho. Giving only itself a gravity effect would be dope. Basically No Guard, but only the positives
@@Xantrahx This would mean people would actually use Palkia!
And Trick Room for Dialga since it manipulates time
@@wafflebroz True but again there should be some counterplay present. Trick Room and Gravity can't be removed from the field afaik, and its not some weird understatted syrup apple setting them up but a restricted legendary

It only shines more in double restricted formats, and even there it heavily depends on the meta.
In gen 8, for example, Ho-Oh was a genuine pick and threat thanks to Dynamax and having Groudon as a pair who puts the sun, boosting the damage output of Sacred Fire/Max Flare
@meekumanu what boots? Knock off will come his way the instant he's not half dead from some pebbles.
I genuinely love the fact that deoxys just becomes aegislash on crack. When I was a kid, that's literally what I thought deoxys did because of the anime.
deoxys deserves better after being outsped by regieleki
Tryna to think, if it doesn’t KO it’ll go down with its paper thin defenses. Reason why Aegislash works is because it’s slow and acts last. (Kings Shield being priority allowing it to change into shield form for the next turn)
Only problem is even Defense Form has 90 speed where Aegislash almost always goes last. It would have to be stupid broken where Deoxys starts the turn in Speed Form, swaps to Attack form if using an offensive move, then swaps to Defense after acting.
Agreed. Deoxys is by far my favorite Mythical. Aegislash is one of if not my favorite Ghost type too.
@@Cyber_Spiritdefinitely should shift it's form after the move used. Recovery moves should turn it to regular form, as it's recharging it's energy
Dialga should make all opposing priority moves into negative priority. Finally, counterplay for Prankster Tailwind.
For some of the missing Pokémon:
Meloetta: Rhythmic Performance - Repeated use of a move increases its power. Basically every move is Echoed Voice now.
Diancie: Diamond Toughness - Gets a substitute equal to 25% of its HP on entry. This could be an interesting way to give Diancie more bulk (especially if it doesn’t get its mega back)
Volcanion: Steam Power - Powers up water moves in sun. Basically giving Hydro Steam to Volcanion universally (why didn’t it get a move like that anyway?)
Heatran: Geothermal Energy - Gets a boost to its defenses when hit by a Ground type attack.
Love it
For Mew's in doubles, it could have it work on the opponent directly opposite to its slot
Most of these are really cool. Except Heatran, that one genuinely sounds really bad.
Maybe make it a well baked body clone instead, because the way you worded it with “disincentivizes air balloon” it sounds like Heatran is still taking damage.
@@Sage_Hashish maybe if ground moves maximize defense then it could be worth it.
@@thepowersaw6245 As for Mews, have it copy all stat changes on the field on entry.
Yeah, I think it’d be better to give it Gen 1 recharge moves effects.
@@T.W.0this setup is based on that
@@T.W.0 You're right. Still, having a 100% chance to take out half of the opponents pokemon is broken. It would essentially turn every VGC battle into a 4v2
Jirachis Wish maker ability should be split into triggering Wish 49%, Doom Desire 50% and Healing Wish 1% of the time
it should be 30% chance to do that each turn, and cant work while a wish is in delay, or u can potentially charge 3 wish in one turn
For Dialga: Time Shift (While Dialga is on the field all moves that require recharge do not recharge, instead you can;t use these moves twice in a row)
For Palkia: Space Shift (If Palkia miss the target the move will instead be redirected to another target and has the same chance to land on it (doubles). In single battles if palkia miss its move it will have another chance to land with half of the odds)
For Jirachi: Wish Maker (moves with delayed effects take have their effects apply on the same turn they are used while Jirachi is on the field (apply to Future Sight, Wish, Dive, Dig, Bounce, Sky Attack, Meteor Beam, Electro Shot, etc))
Every other idea is perfect though perhaps i would still keep that ground immunity in Latias and Latios abilities as a bonus (similar to how Water Bubble has several effects) especially if they are ment to be exclusive abilities.
I like the jirachii one
If anyone has played Radical Red, the Ho-oh ability was implemented in something called "Phoenix Down" and was super overpowered on Blaine's hardcore sun team
Kyogre just turns into Miridon but with a 150 base power move that hits both opponents.
Sounds good
And nothing is immune to it either, lovely
simply thunderclap :)
@@Cyber_Spirita single defensive tera (ground):
I'd say it wouldn't hurt if Palkia had no power penalty. But still a really good idea
@@pedrocto9474 yeah but I didn't want to just make one sided no guard even if I would like that.
@@nahte123456 Yeah, that does make sense, plus with a 150 special attack, it can probably still deal decent damage with halved power
3:58 Registeel could also just rob Dhelmise’s ability Steelworker, don’t even need to come up with a new name
It's not like they don't do this with abilities already though, protean and libero come to mind
Steely Spirit could also work for Registeel. Regirock could get Rocky Payload. Regice could use Refrigerate.
@@WolfKnightLukos Refrigirate works slightly differently though, it turns normal type attacks into ice type, similarly to pixilate and aerilate. It would be kinda strange if every other regi just had an increased stab boost and then regice instead converts normal moves to stab.

In Radical Red, Ho-Oh was actually given an ability similar to Resurrection, it's called Phoenix Down, it's an ability that revived Ho-Oh once it had fainted with half of it's health restored
For Dialga, instead of this ability or the ever so proposed Auto Trick Room, why not somrthing like
Timelessness :
Removes the charge up and recharge turns of all attacks whilst this Pokémon is on the field
Basically, you can fire off Roar of Time and Meteor Beams freely.
I think Cresselia could have an ability reverse of Darkrai, giving all sleeping Pokémon on the field a small heal. Call it Good Dreams or something.
I was thinking Deoxys should basically switch between forms like a mega, but only once or twice per switch in, that way it can still attack while being defensive or speed forme and vice versa
Dragon Dance isn't an attacking move. It's a support move that increases offense and speed.
the virgin "definitely not just rocky payload" vs the chad "definitely not just steelworker"
Ho-oh has its whole legend around bringing luck and being a sign of fortune, so i had an idea
Benevolence: himself and other allies receive increased accuracy and evade chance
8:48 "Late" as in Lugia was designed for the movie and wasn't actually meant to be a real pokemon.
6:30 ‘And Kyogre summons the sun gets an attack boost’😂
3:45 Regis just casually playing with the soccer ball
Lugia's origins are actually very well-known! She was designed for the second movie and the writer, Takeshi Shudo, never expected her to show up in the games.
Lugia's lore in the movie is such that I could see Psychic based on both the telepathy (which was part of Lugia's repertoire before every movie Legendary could do it) and her connection to a specific song rejuvenating her, but Lugia also definitely has an association with the ocean in the movie as well.
Also, I call Lugia a her because Shudo intended her to be female, but they couldn't find the right voice actress in time and had to settle for Koichi Yamadera.
kinda nitpicky but having deoxys change into speed form after using priority is really funny to me. imagine trying to secure a kill with edtreme speed and the massive drop between attack and speed forme makes it miss out on the kill. i'd explode
Dialga ability is just stupid in singles, start with dialga, get a free move, ko opponent in 2 moves or
Have them switch out and get another free turn. Pretty much guaranteed sweep, as long as you ko everything in 2 moves you get double the turns. Youre out of your mind if you think this is a reasonable ability
My favorite part is when Dialga said “It’s Unstoppable Time!” And unstoppabled all over the battle
"You dare challenge me? My time is... unstoppable..."
Id like to think dialgas ability would let it have a built in power herb so he skips time and uses 2 turn moves in 1 turn
3:10 hitting 2 hydro pumps shouldn't be to hard its a 60% chance on hits
The Pokémon Channel music during the Celebi section threw me for a nostalgic loop
For Dialga I think stopping all sorts of priority mechanics would fit, the moves would still go off, just based on the regular speed. Fake out still flinching if it hits before they attack etc.
It's a big thing in both singles and especially doubles and switching it off for both sides would be very impactful.
A fun addition to Guardian of the Sea ability would be that the weather changes depending on which legendary bird is out with Lugia
Moltress sets sun, Articuno sets snow, and Zapdos sets rain
And if you want to get silly with it, the ability could cause the battle to end in a draw if you have Lugia and one of each legendary bird on the field at the same time during a double battle
maybe instead of ending the battle, a super maelstrom is created that does huge damage each turn to each non-legendary bird or windrider pokemon out on the field.
@@general.catallion_8054 it would be funny if all four Pokemon are on the field at once, then Guardian of the Sea causes all four to faint at the end of the turn
These are really interesting. Good vid
So you gave dialga a free extra move at the start of battle and pelkia a free extra attack at the start of battle…
I think a better way for Palkia to get around the reliance on inaccurate moves could be to have every other attack (attack 1, attack 3, etc.) to have perfect accuracy. Groudon's ability should allow sun to boost ground moves or give it fire STAB while in sun
Just give Palkia no guard
“hah, with a ho-oh on my team, I effectively have 7 Pokemon to fight with!”
the humble Skill Swap:
These are some of the worst ability changes i have ever seen, not only are they not balanced, but they feel extremely cheap and unfair, even more so then Urshifu or Calyrex ever were.
thank you for the constructive criticism :)
A good way of integrating wishes into Jirachi's ability would be to make it so when it faints it sets off the move "Wish" for the next Pokémon, but it heals for 100% of Jirachi's HP or maybe it works like normal but it also clears status ailments.
Dragon dance dont do damage bro, its a status move that increases atrack and speed
Dragon Darts
4:06 this Metallurgic could just be Steely Spirit, since it already does that that and has the bonus of buffing your partner’s steel moves as well
Strat with deoxis on turn use speed form and focus sash to go 1st then go 1st the next turn with just any op hard hitting move like does it get extracerory?
I had also made abilities for Palkia and Dialga, and they were pretty different. Palkia got +1 accuracy and evasion the first time it enters the field (like Intrepid Sword in ScarVi) and Dialga got priority to moves lower than 60 BP, including status
I think the weather duo being the supposed strongest weather setters should get their pre nerf abilities, so permanently setting it
perma weather returning could be interesting, since mons like whimsicott can still counter it
For his signature ability, Dialga activates ZA WARUDO
To make it truly hilarious, have Jirachi's ability have a low percent to cast Metronome as well!
I had an idea for something similar to Forme Shift where Deoxys automatically changes between turns. Before its turn, it enters attack form (or speed form of its enemy is low on health) and it shifts into defense form before its enemy’s turn. Normal form is what it takes on only on the first bit of battle before any moves have been used
I believe that in singles regenerator could prove to be better
“I don’t support gambling, but it IS funny.” Respect.
palkia's ability could flip pokemon spots in double battles to shake them up
I think an interesting ability palkia could be given is the ability to negate switching moves.
Bro i completed radical red like 100 times and that ho-oh ability is known as Phoenix Down which revives ho-oh back to 50% hp after fainting
Lugia is awesome, I played silver the mewtwo movie and his are the good ones. Anyway the guardian of the sea who lives down there being psychic and *flying* was always kinda funny. I fell like they didn’t want the box legendaries to have typing over one
Ability ideas
Palika: Spacial distortion: Reduces the accuracy all Pokémon on the field when it enters battle for the first time
Celibi: Double Time: celibi will add +1 priority to all moves Down Time: celibi will take away 1 priority from all moves
Not sure how down time would actually help but it’s still an ability
What I think they should get (before I watch the video)
Mewtwo: Spoon Wielder: psychic moves hit dark types neutrally and do 30% more dmg
Lugia: Guardian of the sea (blocks stat drops/status conditions for water types on your side of the field) Rework aeroblast to work like fiery dance
Ho-oh: good enough already just give it revival blessing
Dialga: Temporal reverse( if dialga spends three turns on the field all pokemon on your team get a sitrus berry healing amount) In origin form roar of time functions like blood moon
Giratina: Anti-matter (works like neutralizing gas) In origin form shadow force works like a physical meteor beam but only does 100 dmg)
Palkia: Celestial Zone: (when on the field the opposing side loses 10% acc and your side gains 20% accuracy+nullifies gravity) In origin form Spacial rend works like frost breath but with 80 accuracy
Groudon: Precipice blades rework: same stats but it gets a 50% dmg boost under sun (make it fair like origin pulse cmon)
Regice: filter (idk it makes sense to me)
Registeel: Heatproof
Regirock: Rocky Repair (This Pokemon heals 1/4 of its max HP when hit by rock moves; heals in sandstorm)
Jirachi: Wishmaker(Iets rework it): 50% chance of using the move wish at the end of each turn but also 50% chance of giving a wish to the opposing team
Eternatus: Generator: Everytime its hit by opposing trainer it raises the spatk and atk of itself and its partner.
I love these videos so much. They’re so creative and actually make pokemon play different from each other. Gamefreak needs to Do something with these
I spent the whole Palkia section wondering how the heck dragon dance worked in doubles
I like the idea of Deoxys form shifting depending on the move.
A healthier version of a wish granting ability could be guaranteeing a partner survives one attack that would otherwise KO it once per battle
I think Deoxys would go the Aegislash route of switching on a specific move rather than a move type, that way you can actually stay in defence form when using a priority move (going into speed form kinda negates the need for priority no?) maybe just for speed form, a specific move that engages it until your next defensive/defence shifting action
For the Regis, obviously regirocks ability is definitely not rocky payload but registeels ability is also definitely not steelworker
Me watching as the god of space summons meteors on my surfing mac n cheese and wrestling cat
I mean, it’s probably better to have forme shift activate at the end of Deoxys’s turn, not much point in the defensive form if you’re using protect or a speed form if you’re using a priority move, it also allows base form to actually do something rather than just immediately switching into another form, which I think is generally more balanced
Edit: Actually upon further review, I think it’d be better if Deoxys shifted on their _next_ turn so the form shift happens after the enemies turn so the form actually matters, it’s kind of like setting up
I think the best way to make deoxys work is by asigning the 4 forms to its moveslots. So you can't use both calm mind and recover with defense and you can only use one specific attack with that broken attack form.
i think it’d just be easier if deoxys could have to be holding a meteorite in order to activate the ability itself. no held items for an already OP ability like forme shift in the first place
Congrats, you have made deyoxys into super ageislash
So, I have some thoughts about these abilities:
- Dialga’s ability made me do a double take at how absurd it is.
Just don’t make it disable the use of water or fire moves…
- Lugia giving it a Water Stab with an ability makes, it would allow it to hit Steel Types without Earth Power.

Taking that into account, the psychic type could be somewhat akin to a super hero type, which makes sense since in the early generations, psychic were type for the really strong pokemon.
the f*cking regi trio playing ball lmao
Deoxys ability is so great, exactly the I thought it should have by default
Celebi should get an ability like regenerator when it goes back in time to heal, and refuel it’s PP and also makes it immune to dialgas time one
A Rework I would like is for Zekrom, Reshiram, Kyurem.
Zekrom and Reshirams Teravolt or Turboblaze would still be the same but have an added bonus of extra stab for their Fire/Electric type moves
Kyurem suffers from pressure. So give it basically the same thing the other 2. Since they used to all be 1. In a dex entry it said that it's power was so massive and it leaked out and froze kyurem. So give it a mold breaker and a ice type boost
making plakia ignore protect and screens will be a good ability
I think groudon would prefer having burn immmunity on top of its weather, so it can be just as fearless against will o wisp as primal groudon
I sure dont like the idea of lugia being a water type, but this is pretty cool
Just a question, but wouldn't making speed forme deoxys out of priority moves be a bit redundant? Since you know, the point of using priority moves is to bypass speed. It would also make her very frail automatically without a signifficant benefit
Regarding Baton Pass Celebi, if the damage transferred was the damage number not the percentage of HP, it would create a meta to use low level Celebi with Baton Pass to transfer stats or or something without sharing too much damage with whoever it's being given to
