    Bulbapedia lists that Power of Alchemy can not copy Ice Face, Protosynthesis, Quark Drive, or Poison Puppeteer, whereas reciever can. This could just be inaccuracies in the articles.
    Edit: Protosynthesis, Quark Drive and Ice Face are all in the Reciever article under the “needs testing” section, poison puppeteer isn’t though. Also stop arguing over “No.”

    Slow Start on Varoom is a kind of neat little gimmick during a play-through, because Overcoat Varoom keeps it when it evolves, but if you manage to train up the Slow Start one, it changes to the very powerful Filter.

    There’s actually even more to Varoom getting slow start:
    Varoom is specifically based off of a 2 stroke engine, with its “mouth” having a style synonymous with 2 stroke engines and their carburetors leading to the crankcase.
    This is an important detail since, as someone who has worked on carbureted small engines and especially 2 strokes, there are some times where, in the words of Slow Start, the engine “just can’t get going!”

    Just to be pedantic for the sake of it, I don't think Tyranitar can really claim Sand Stream as a pseudo-signature ability, seeing as Hippowdon has pretty much always been a viable alternative, just less popular. Compared to, say, Politoed and Ninetales, which are just completely irrelevant compared to Pelipper and Torkoal.

    It is unfortunate that there is essentially only 2 options for the surge abilities, Tapus or a Pokemon introduced in Sword and Shield (or Arboliva)
    As for the non Tapu terrain setters,
    -Rillaboom is the best Grassy Terrain setter period, making it the series’ best competitive grass starter so far.
    -Indeedee Female is a support Pokemon compared to Tapu Lele being an offensive Pokemon, giving Indeedee a niche in VGC even when Lele is legal (Indeedee Male I assume is just a weaker Lele)
    -Electric Terrain just needs a better Electric Surge Pokemon when Tapu Koko isn’t available
    -Misty Terrain is a purely defensive terrain so it’s viability is essential determined by how defensive the Pokemon that get Misty Surge are

    Tl;Dr: i disagree with the stamina verdict
    I think the one thing thats measured in your definition (“…only relevant competitive use on one pokemon) is a flawed metric to judge by. Archaludons best ability may be stamina, but its other abilities are still competitively useful. For mudsdale however, its other abilities hinder it a lot more so stamina is widely considered its only viable ability. If mudsdale relies on stamina more than archaludon does, i fail to see how it becomes archaludons psuedo-sig ability. Is it only because mudsdale as a pokemon doesnt see high level play? If thats the case, then youre measuring the pokemon against eachother and not the ability in the context of where it exists. Stall is the sig ability of sableye but is never used over prankster, would that make it a psuedo sig ability since not even the only mon to get it uses it? Theres a hundred more tangents i could go on, but mostly because i cant wrap my head around the logic used

    • @x_bell1142
      @x_bell1142  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, it is only because Mudsdale doesn't see high level play. This is in the context of Scarlet and Violet VGC and in that format, Mudsdale is not used. Thus, the only Pokémon that uses Stamina is Archaludon. In this case, I don't care if the this is more judging the mon than judging the ability. Also I don't really understand your example with Sableye. I am saying that a pseudo-signature ability is one that is specifically NOT a signature ability. Since Stall IS the signature ability of Sableye, it will never be included since it fails to meet that criteria.

    • @LifeofWiks
      @LifeofWiks 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@x_bell1142 makes a lot more sense now. I was under the assumption that it was in the context of competitive as a whole and favor was just put on VGC being the official meta. The sableye example was to just say that even though its not a used ability, it wouldnt make it any less of a signature or psuedo signature in this case. But only being viewed through the VGC lens changes a lot so i get it now, my bad.

    I found a game that has a pokemon with insane abilities and moves. For example, your starter in her final form has Beast Boost.
    But two of the signature abilities caught my eyes, those being:
    - Zero Degree - When hit by a Fire-type move, raises Defense by 2. (The weird part is this signature ability is hold by a Grass/Ice type who is also a VERY tanky one like Bastiodon, Toxapex or Giratina)
    Anyways, this ability is identical to Sandysgast's ability Water Compaction but instead of Water is Fire-type moves. Or to Dashbun's Well-Baked Body
    - Soul Eater - When attacking, heal for some of the damage dealt. (Nothing to say about this one besides being a free Shell Bell)

      @@robertlupa8273 If I'm to make an assumption, it's because the strategy he's talking about in the video (spam Minimize, copy Moody from Smeargle) does not exactly sound fun to play against. It's basically mashing together two luck-dependent strategies where the end goal is to sweep the opponent with an invincible monster.

    ya do realize breloom got poison heal before gliscor right? so it is technically breloom's pseudo signature ability and not gliscor's

    • @lagmanrealtrustme
      @lagmanrealtrustme หลายเดือนก่อน

      What he means by psuedo signature ability is that it's only relevant in competitive play on one pokemon, mainly in higher levels of play. Breloom prefers to run Technician as it's an offensive pokemon unlike Gliscor who runs poison heal over its other abilities because it's a defensive pokemon
