It's crazy to think about how Kro as a little kid found a game he loved so much he played 24/7 for years for no money and no expectation of anything. Then learning there is a sequel coming and becoming defacto one of the best players bc of your experience and connections from SARPBC. Then that game takes off in popularity and starts a esports scene with actual prizes and sponsors. And then RLCS comes out and getting to put together one of the best teams in NA for that new games first world championship. And then going to that world championship and winning (with your sub) kicking off a career playing car ball for your entire adult life. Oh and he won a BMW somewhere in there too. Crazy man, so much had to go right for him to be where he is, 100% deserved though.
Yeah it's all really cool but I doubt it will be a sustainable career for an entire adult life

I mean Rocket League is kinda big right now. There may be some rivals in the future. If the rivals came, he will have a easier time switching around
THere's a bunch of us out there, I used to play with all these legends, Kuxir, Mikerules, Paschy90, it was all about pride, all about the fun. Then Rocket League came and it was a sellout, a lot of the initial love was traded for money making so a lot of us just kinda...left. I still have my 10 year experience carry me through to GC even though I never learned any mechaniccs and am unable to airdribble or do anything like that.

The thing is we didn't know if another game like this was going to be made.
For most of SARPBC's lifespan they weren't waiting for rocket league because they had no idea it was even in development (game was out for about 4 years before RL's alpha). They played because they liked it.

Yeah why were they so inventive with sarpbc and then just completely forgot that in rocket league. Why does the predecessor have like 8-10 features that had to be nodded into rocket league
There is a few similar things if you do custom, like time warp i tried with a friend and its the same as the one sunless did here
Chris Brindas Makes sense when you think about it. They spent more resources and time developing the game itself (mechanics, physics, etc) rather than mini games. As it stands now they could theoretically add these features but theyd just be spending money to get nothing in return other than slightly satisfying their fan base which isnt economical sadly.
if you had PC they more or less exist in player made workshop maps, and then there are work arounds so you can play those maps with other people.

I used to play this 1v1 with my dad all the time as a kid, there was a sweet spot on the map that was a semi circle from kick off and it would go straight in the net and nobody could do anything about it. Great game. Great memories

He probably unlocked it after recording with Kro. I'd find it hard to believe he just asked Kro to sit and wait while he played all the minigames.
David Dauria yeah that makes sense. I just thought he did them in like 10 minutes or something while Kro waited. I didn’t really know how long it took. Although, why would he unlock the scarab for hours after just for that one clip, since I assume hes not going to play the game again for a long time.
I loved this game back in the day. Nice to see it getting some exposure. A window into my early teen years :)

I remember hating this game when my friends loved it and now I love Rocket League and I'm pretty much the only one in my friend group who does lol
Most people hate the game because you will be an absolute S&%t in the beginning. Only those who put a little more time and got better are in love with the game till now.

Yea i got one of my friends to play past the initial bot phase where u cant hit anything and now he loves the game, playing in gold already. All of this after refusing to play for months haha, one of those games that only gets better with time.

Same. I am Dia2/3 and can't do ANYTHING. Not even dribble or something. The only thing i really tried to get good at was positioning and recovery. Thats why halfflip and recovery movements with the break are the only things i tried learning. Many things can get you a better rank.. :D

Best part about this game was the player base was simultaneously small, AND super consistent. so you got to know everyone and their playstyles and if they were good or not. it was a blast and a very unique experience
I already played this game on the PS3 when I was 8 years old in 2013 and I called it rocket league at the time
Next: I gifted SARPBC players Rocket league to see how they would improve

I'm proud to say that I too was one of the few people who discovered this game in its early infancy stages.
I had some change left and decided to buy it since its name sounded funky. I always played it together with friends on my ps3.

For anyone who doesn't already know, there's actually a cool little SARPBC easter egg in Rocket League. When you load up the game and are at the start screen (when it says "PRESS ANY BUTTON TO START") enter the classic 'Konami code' (press up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A) and press Enter.

Can also be done on a controller (hit "start" or your controller's equivalent instead of enter)

Dude, there's a built in tennis mode? They need to bring it back! And non-standard maps were always cool - they just need to avoid fake standard maps.

@@thund3r94 Non-standard maps separate boys from men. How good are your mechanics when there are additional obstacles? They're still symmetrical for the teams, so they're still fair maps. It's just a new element of challenge. I'd avoid something too weird like the old Rumble/Rocket Lab map with two goals per team, but the old Neo Tokyo and Wasteland were pretty reasonable.
As for Musty, he's somewhere between a collaborator and a creator. Sunless's content is quite superior, though Musty is better at the game (which garners attention for its own sake). Sunless should stick it out and keep calling on us!

@@leoharness547 Which goes to show that air dribble really isn't all that useful, because if it was, you'd be diamond by now. If you want to climb ranks, focus on rotation, positioning, recovery mechanics, and other more essential mechanics, like power shots, air roll shots, fast aerials etc. It's not as flashy, but way more effective.

If u can learn to air dribble properly it can be very useful. But Yh of course u should first focus on the other things u mentioned first, but in my opinion learning air dribbles are really IMPORTANT the higher rank u get
@@h.a2885 I didn't say they're not useful. Sure you can get a ton of goals with them in gold. What I was saying is that if you can get those goals yet you are still somehow stuck in gold, then you must absolutely SUCK at everything else. Learning to air dribble takes a ton of practice, that practice is better spent elsewhere in lower ranks.

This was so cool, seeing a game frozen in a time when Rocket League was going to be brand new, and released in 2015. Seeing Urban Central as the basis for all RL maps in the future is amazing!

Same. I actually quit the game because it felt too easy to play, every noob could do the sickest stuff. To this day I remain being a grand champion without being able to airdribble. I had around 4000 hours in SARPBC with ~300 active european players, meanwhile after 5 years I have 900 hours in rocket league. I wish we could go back, the game was better, imo.

@@shaneovids4852 Just comes down to preference, the game was more position heavy and less mechanical and I prefered that. It doesn't really matter if you believe me but I will never be able to airdribble and I still made it to GC 3s while solo Qing all the way lol.

I remember playing this game like 8 years ago and I remember being so confused when Rocket League came out because I thought I had already played before. For years, this game felt like a fever dream for me. I'm so excited to see that I actually wasn't crazy and this actually existed.
Some of those minigames would be perfect for training missions in RL. Especially teaching people to score from behind the halfway line

BRO this was 5 years of my childhood. Just chillin with my friends playing SARP on our PS3. I feel so cool now that I was basically a "rocket league bet tester" lol.
This was one of the three games that I played on the PS3 when I was younger. It was the only game that I had that I could split screen with my friends. They still remember this game from the good ol' days and I still have the theme song memorized in my head.

I used to play against kronovi on SARPBC quite regularly, it’s crazy that he’s such a big name these day, although he was always known for being the best on SAPBC,there just wasn’t as big of an audience so you played the same people quite regularly 😊
