As a diamond in 2022, my heart actually sunk seeing Sunless in the bronze games saying "I love playing like trash" and seeing a lot of my own game play.
Video idea: you get 2 rlcs coaches and 2 bronzes or 2 of the same rank you give the coaches a set amount of time to try and improve their player, at the end of the amount of time they get you get the 2 players to 1v1 to decide who the better coach is: like so he sees!
I’d love to see this. Coaches get like one month and before the final showdown we get a quick montage of the two players progression. Cause you gotta have a montage.
@@metapotamus Because of the way the rank system works. It takes the highest person's mmr and bases it off of that. So if the highest ranked person is in the top 100, an instant queue means that you are going against players that are in or just outside of the top 100.

Plats are hard to represent in 1 match. I think because of the range of skill. You can play a match where they can't play offense and/or defense but you also get people who can air dribble but yeah basically plats are just inconsistent diamonds
We really suck at defense though. I am sort of an exception because I can at least kind of shadow but I also am worse than most plats in every other thing
It doesn’t get better. Champ 3; 3v3, console players are the only ones on diagonal kickoff and still fake the kickoff. Never know why but console players always seem to have weird strats cuz it’s not an isolated incident.

air dribbles can come in handy to know, they can be unpredictable and waste fine for your tm8s to get boost and stuff while also making the opponents waste boost. i’m a c2/c3 and i recommend learning it tbh
I'm glad you ran into a smurf in champ. I've been stuck in champ for a while now and I keep running into GC lobbies and people that are doing ceiling shot flip resets and consistent double touches and it feels like they're smurfing. So I think this video accurately represents what I've been experiencing and it's honestly put me off of the game. Every lobby is sweaty af even in casual.

I just calibrated my rank in standard 3v3 and it's Plat 1, I can barely touch the ball in air and all the players are literally flying over my head trashing on me :'/

Yea teammates dont start decently rotating until high plat/low diamond but even there you still have some chasers, once u get to high diamond/low champ most of your teammates will be good

lmao i was in plat like around 3 weeks ago and they suck so bad. every 2 seconds someone misses the easiest aerial or save and no one can dribble or do any mechanics. i think those are some qualities you start to learn at diamond (im diamond 2 rn)
"I didn't know D1's could double-touch like that" - Diamond 1 was one of the most unpredictable ranks that I've ever been in. Some days you would get matched up with people that just squeezed out of P3 by the skin of their teeth, playing incredibly slow, not rotating, thinking they're freestyle gods, taking the ball to the wall every time they get possession, spamming what a save!, and voting to forfeit after they freestyle the ball right into the opposition. Then other games, you get the real deal. The players that play fast, get strong hits on ball, rotate, if they play off the wall - it's natural, and not forced, they aren't afraid to trust their team-mate, they pass, and if you're losing, they stay positive and never vote to forfeit. It's these D1's that I've seen it all from. I've seen them hit double-touches, air dribbles (while spinning), ground-to-air dribbles, ceiling shots, and even flip-resets.

The reason his mate told him the insta queue pop at the end was bad is because that is usually a sign that the game found an enemy with an even MMR (Matchmaking works by gradually increasing the acceptancy for more differentiated ranks over time until a match is found)
A lot have good played time and mechanics in plat but believe me they have very bad game sense and defense positioning. Still struggle to rotate, ballchase, do aerials leading to a pass for the enemy, give lot of open goal opportunities. You just need to be chill, work on positioning and take all the enemy passes or open

I'm plat 2 but I would say I'm a little better than most plat 2s. I can air dribble consistently and sometimes get a clean double tap. I also have pretty good recoveries and good boost control.

Odd story I was a gold 1 and I had two accounts one was unranked 0 played I lost 3 of my placement matches and won 7 and I became a reverse smurf by being plat 2 on my alt

btw going for kickoff boost is sometimes good. not in super high level but in anything below diamond. Its actually a somewhat viable strat. Just make sure your teammate is with you on that and going for kickoff

@Proper Miner Everything below diamond is cancer honestly. Diamond is the first rank where your team mates stop trying to bump you while you're dribbling and have some sense of rotation and teamplay. You literally have to blast the ball back into your own half and take all the boost on the way back to starve your ballchasing team mates to be able to setup an airdribble without being team bumped (in plat and below).
Shotz of Lead that or just a well timed diagonal flip. Speed flip is faster but diagonal dodge is also a form of fast kickoff. I doubt he can time it correctly. Or even diagonal dodge lol.
I’ll be honest, your enemies in gold/plat just sucked. Those ranked have a lot of good defenders and tons of aerials, however there is a lot of ball chasing and a big lack of dribble/double touch.
“Platinum a little weaker on the defense” is so true. As someone who went into D2, crash and burned back to P1, and now is back into D1, that is what mostly keeps players out of Diamond
I agree, I think the ones sunless played with might have taken that to the extreme, but plat is where you start to learn new mechanics, but they all aren’t that useful in most games and no one learns rotations that they would actually use
tbh, shooting is what generally keeps people out of diamond. i noticed that the plats were struggling to put a decent shot on target. the defense doesnt really matter until around d2, where people actually start to get more consistent at shooting

"I didn't know D1's could double-touch like that" - Diamond 1 was one of the most unpredictable ranks that I've ever been in. Some days you would get matched up with people that just squeezed out of P3 by the skin of their teeth, playing incredibly slow, not rotating, thinking they're freestyle gods, taking the ball to the wall every time they get possession, spamming what a save!, and voting to forfeit after they freestyle the ball right into the opposition.
Then other games, you get the real deal. The players that play fast, get strong hits on ball, rotate, if they play off the wall - it's natural, and not forced, they aren't afraid to trust their team-mate, they pass, and if you're losing, they stay positive and never vote to forfeit. It's these D1's that I've seen it all from. I've seen them hit double-touches, air dribbles (while spinning), ground-to-air dribbles, ceiling shots, and even flip-resets.

A lot have good played time and mechanics in plat but believe me they have very bad game sense and defense positioning. Still struggle to rotate, ballchase, do aerials leading to a pass for the enemy, give lot of open goal opportunities. You just need to be chill, work on positioning and take all the enemy passes or open

I'm plat 2 but I would say I'm a little better than most plat 2s. I can air dribble consistently and sometimes get a clean double tap. I also have pretty good recoveries and good boost control.

The skill gap between plat 2 and 3 is immense. Took me a good bit to go from plat 3 to d1 aswell but d1/2 feel practically the same skill wise

btw going for kickoff boost is sometimes good. not in super high level but in anything below diamond. Its actually a somewhat viable strat. Just make sure your teammate is with you on that and going for kickoff

@Proper Miner Everything below diamond is cancer honestly. Diamond is the first rank where your team mates stop trying to bump you while you're dribbling and have some sense of rotation and teamplay.
You literally have to blast the ball back into your own half and take all the boost on the way back to starve your ballchasing team mates to be able to setup an airdribble without being team bumped (in plat and below).
Not to brag i was a plat and it made me toxic now im grand champ and ive changed my mindset
My best shots are all own goals. This is clearly intentional as I derp around in bronze.

I’ll be honest, your enemies in gold/plat just sucked. Those ranked have a lot of good defenders and tons of aerials, however there is a lot of ball chasing and a big lack of dribble/double touch.

I agree, I think the ones sunless played with might have taken that to the extreme, but plat is where you start to learn new mechanics, but they all aren’t that useful in most games and no one learns rotations that they would actually use
tbh, shooting is what generally keeps people out of diamond. i noticed that the plats were struggling to put a decent shot on target. the defense doesnt really matter until around d2, where people actually start to get more consistent at shooting
