to be fair, there was at least 10-15 years of translated manga that came out here in the US before the Dragon Ball manga was translated in 1998 (in comic book format with two concurrent series, og Dragon Ball and DBZ). We will all miss Toriyama, but let's not erase history. The fact is, until the late 1990s, official anime and manga distributors all but ignored Toriyama's work outside of the Ocean dub of the original Dragon Ball from 1995; the release of Dragon Ball Z on Toonami (along with Pokemon and a handful of other anime on the various channels) was the beginning of a new epoch in the fandom (the third by my count: 1970-1980s, with underground fan-subs and Robotech and toyetic series like Transformers on TV; and the late 1980s-1998 VHS and flopped manga in comic format), one that veered towards shonen (and even shojo) series rather than the seinen series that dominated the early to mid 1990s (though there were some shonen series that were hits, such as Ranma 1/2).
What's with this strong notation of these cartels in Mexico? If they was as strong and scary as people keep making themselves to be, then why don't they fight the USA and retake the lands taken during the American-Mexican war?? I just don't understand this nonsense.

It's just an attempt to be edgy and contrarian. "Most people are expressjng sorrow, so *I'm* going to be different and mock him haha" Toriyama is not the guy for this. He is universally beloved. It's like mocking Mr Rogers.
Yes, Oda’s tweet had me shedding a few new tears over this tragic loss. Toriyama’s works affected and influenced many, many millions of people over the decades, I being just another. However, reading the words of one who was another fan since childhood but then eventually came to stand on the same “stage” and even be accepted as a friend by the man himself gave me just a small glimpse into the personal pain he’s going through. Thank you for your words, Oda-sensei and I too hope Toriyama-sensei now finds peace away from any pain. My heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family and friends.
Of course, they would do that. They did it when Stan Lee passed away. Some people cant fathom the idea that attacking a beloved person after they die is disrespectful as hell. What gets me is the crowd that whines about racism, you know these are the same people who demand respect, but rarely, if ever give that respect to other people.
Is it really a surprise that the people who need to constantly shout and advertise that they're so empathetic and caring are actual total assholes that just want attention? If you see pronouns, and multiple flags in a person's bio, they're almost definitely self-obsessed.

Two things can be true at once. If you’re gonna look at Mr Popo and say there’s no way his design can be interpreted as racist, you’re being willfully ignorant. Toriyama can still be a legend who revolutionized manga, and a man who made an oversight on how certain audiences would perceive a certain design considering I doubt he expected to receive an international audience
@@AngelRuiz-xq2ie Well… if you decide that a character having jet black skin and thick lips can be perceived as racist, that’s kinda just adding fuel to the fire. What you said can and will be used by people to justify needless hate for toriyamas work. It’s all good and well if it’s just some dark or offensive humour, but there’s no need to be so serious. Realistically speaking, having dark skin and thick lips is far from racist when looking through a certain lense. Plus, aside from those physical qualities, there’s nothing else that’s problematic with Mr Popo’s design. His design is based in Hinduism; he has Hindu/Indian attire. Nothing serious or offensive about that. And besides, I wasn’t outright denying that it can be perceived as racist, I was just pointing out how beautiful that ratio was. If you wanna talk designs that can be perceived racist outright regardless of intent, look at OPM or One Piece. And don’t go around calling people ignorant my friend. You’ll just pull yourself into an argument with someone who’s far to happy to take that too seriously. Only do so if very much evident and necessary.

to be fair, there was at least 10-15 years of translated manga that came out here in the US before the Dragon Ball manga was translated in 1998 (in comic book format with two concurrent series, og Dragon Ball and DBZ).

Fax, but y'know it's Twitter they'll start an argument about anything imaginable.
R.I.P Toryiama, you were the true GOAT.
@@pokerus1359I mean he was pretty polite with his response and speaks the truth. First kazuki takahashi and now akira toriyama, 2 goats left this world RIP legend
Rest in peace to both legend 🙏
whoever insults toriyama's death might get a surprise visit from the cartel 😂
.... Tf are you on about 😅
@@AlexanderXFroggmann the Mexicans are big fans of dragon ball and might take it to heart. Hell even government officials were doing a live broadcast of the tournament of power episodes
@@nixuns that's badass ✨🤩
That Sakamoto guy is an absolute fool, lmao. Toriyama made Dr. Slump, which following Astroboy, was considered a landmark that defined manga/anime and the industry as we know it today.
Maybe they should pick up a history book or go back to elementary school to learn proper punctuation instead of posting on Twitter.
Toriyama and Dragon Ball influenced many things, including the people of Mexico. I mean, look at all the Mexican Cartel x Dragon Ball memes and the fact that Mexico is heavily influenced by Dragon Ball.
me as i raise my hands to the sky: "Fans of Dragon Ball, lend me your energy to end those twatters!"
R.I.P. Toriyama Sensei, bring my regards also to Miura Sensei
Take my energy
Take mine too. 🙋♂
I OFFER YOU MY ENERGY🙋
Buster really made fun of Mr. Popo.
Fool about to learn the pecking order.
Those foolish mortals 😈😈😈😈

They're too comfortable because they are hiding behind a screen and would never say that shit in person, especially not to a real fan
Akira was also the Artist for Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger so he was also apart of the big impact those games had for early RPGs.
Damn rest in peace akira toriyama
In the Spanish-speaking community, many feminists were angry that people talked more about this sad news on social networks than about 8M.
Unfortunately these types of messages do not surprise me, because I already know what to expect from the "WOKE"; But I am happy to say that there were many more people who came together to remember and defend Toriyama's memory than those who disrespected him.
When you got guys like oda and kishimoto who are freaking titans in the community being excited he knew there names and acting like all his other loving fans that's amazing to me he really did inspire a great Era bless this man and rip toriyama
I have loved Dragon Ball since I was a child and take great joy in showing my son who also loves it. I don't mind if people don't like DB, but understand Akira Toriyama made a lasting mark on Manga and anime. Rest in peace Mr. Toriyama your legacy will live on forever.
It's so touching that people like murata (the illustrator for the opm manga) and oda ( the mangaka of one piece) are giving their well wishes, thanks again Akira Toryama, you've done alot for us all, rest well.
*"Heroes get remembered, but legends never die."*
THANK YOU AKIRA TORIYAMA 🙏❤️
A person will truly die if no one remembers.
They think there all gangster but it all stops when ssj Vegeta theme start playing but there volume is off
Insulting a dead person is already bad enough, heck he insulted a Legend who create and entertain soo many people and their kids childhood.
People man. Unbelievable..
Akira Toriyama changed pop culture not many can say they did that Rip Icon.
It's amazing all of us who are mourning his passing are so connected through his works, bound not by boarders or barriers but by our love for his art and morals he taught to all of us. He was a great man indeed and he was like a father to a lot of us. To see people defend him and his work is truly humbling. I hope he sees everyone of us and sees the mark he left on this world and how much we appreciated every bit of work he did. One man had such a long reach and I don't think he ever realized it. May he rest in peace.
They even made fun of dead boruto fan who died in car accident he was a tiktoker they said many terrible things to that poor guy i still remember this 😢

That is the ultimate point when someone you admire calls you friend and remembers your name. Akira Toriyama stood among the greats in creating wonderful, inspiring worlds for people to lose themselves in, to take them away from reality just for a little bit.
Rest in peace Toriyama, thank you for everything you’ve done and thank you for dragon ball and all the memories and impact it had on us all. Fly high Akira Toriyama. My condolences go out to his family and friends.
The "Cartel" would like to know their address.
The former Yazuka put down their DBZ manga to squad up to do some clown hunting.
@raynalldoprime wait for real??!?
Revolutionary group ELN also ceasefired. 😯
no... no they are not@@CannibaLouiST
@@CannibaLouiSTno its a joke bc dragon ball is especially popular in mexico
The fact that people have to wait for him to die to start talking shit is sad.
RIP Akira Toriyama. To hard work, tenacity, and going even further beyond.
Ofc some idiots are dissing him in death🤦🏽♂️
You know what they say
"Haters gonna hate"
I get very disgusted every time i read those fools' comments, rest in peace akira
