Nice video. I'm 41 and still found it interesting to hear the kinds of things which you are nostalgic for. I never understood Pokemon myself even though technically I don't think I'm really too old for it, I just never got into it. For me it's Ninja Turtles and Packard Bell computers.
I believe I've found my beacon, but I recognise your story. I've got a sister who has these issues now, helping her is complicated... I hope you get fully better one day. Some Dutch TH-camr I watch for a long time now, advised once: 'Start some project. Start something that's truly yours. Create your own child to take care of.' That inspired me to lean how to program, and eventually I set up a project that I've worked on for years now. That's the beacon for me, aside from a regular office job. :) Thanks for making this video!
i remember as a teen and in my early 20's i was diving into exploring the subject of history and the times i haven't even lived in whenever - i was in apathy or depression, unhappy with something. however when i was a happy kid before that, i kinda enjoyed the present and looked forward the future in a bright light. now in new generation it's either trend for nostalgia or dystopia.
@@mattsthoughts1Agreed. They think like life is utopia. We must accept it. Like it or not. You wanna stay with the hood old times, just create a Time Machine and activate loop to revive your old times at the palm of your hand. And you’ll see the consequences of it.
Oh crazy I'm 25 now too, thanks for makin' that. Nostalgia is for sure another form of escape, familiarity and sentiment, tricking your body into putting you back in a "safer" time... you're right that it's a drug and struggles with direction/depression draws you to go with the quick easy (temporary) fixes and it will absolutely keep you stuck there. I'm extremely glad you heard that voice and heeded the message, embrace that deeper feeling, whether it's your gut or God, something in you knows :)
It sucks that we can't go back in time so there's nothing we can do about it. I really wish that I can go back to the past to correct all the mistake I made growing up but unfortunately we can't and is so sad. But at least TH-cam will always be our time machine we can always look at those good commercial and relive and that's all we can do for now.
I think it depends on the situation. There’s nothing wrong with having happy memories from something from your past and wanting more of that, but sometimes too much of a good thing can be bad.
After watching this video, nostalgia can ruined my life in my personal POV and makes me hate innovation and being close-minded to modern standards. I used to be that kind of guy who obsessed with old school stuff but as I grow up, I began to enjoy the recent stuff such as video games, films, and music, and I feel like I give them a chance instead of hating something before it comes out or haven't try it, its kinda childish and a joke, like that's an example of being a nostalgia freak, and I regretted being that type of person.
I feel the same way sometimes regarding new technology, like I loathe things like apple car play or even to a certain extent AI. I can totally understand being obsessed with older things.

Recent movies and videogames make very clear they're not only "not for you", but they don't want you in the audience. The best ones actually come out and say it! Then they blame you for their failure. But how could that be? They didn't want you!
I do not care if nostalgia can ruin me! I do not care if I can not go back to the past! I am not depressed! Plus, even if I am, I still would not care!
WOW thank you so much for giving us this message. This is something I really needed to hear cause, lately I have been really struggling with my current life and this has given me a new perception of life.
Great video man, had some good reflections in this 👍
Thanks, appreciate it :)

Ninja turtles seemed to be hit or miss with my generation, so people love it and others never really got into it
I love your thoughts on this subject, it confronts every generation's obsession with nostalgia in a way that really resonates with me
Appreciate the kind words :)

It seems like a lot of people think they live in the wrong era. It’s tough to accept that the present isn’t always rainbows and lollipops

I know I can’t go back, nonetheless nostalgia is comforting

Ever fell nostalgic for a time you never lived?
I used to all the time, kinda wish I was in a period pre phones

Going back and reliving old TH-cam videos is awesome. It does perpetuate the nostalgia drug quite by a bit, but it’s well worth it usually.

Exactly
Thank you for making this video

Nostalgia is a DRUG
I do not care if nostalgia can ruin me! I do not care if I can not go back to the past! I am not depressed! Plus, even if I am, I still would not care!
Wow... This is so me so right now
Not sure of ruining life nostalgia it’s more like copping mechanism.
What do you mean by that???

Glad to hear it, hope your journey goes well :)
@@mattsthoughts1 thank you
if the new stuff was better, that would become the _new_ nostalgia;
most of this stuff just sucks.
🙂
that’s valid, there’s also the fact the ad we age the newer stuff doesn’t seem as good anymore
Man just lemme be sad
Sorry boss
Me too
Did you hear God... Did you go to college again
Minecraft... Yeah I get it
