    • @TombstoneHeart
      @TombstoneHeart 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hope "Freddy" Flintoff has a real sense of humour, because ( as an Aussie ), I've yet to see one really funny quip or quote or one-liner or snappy come-back from any Australian cricketers in over 40 years of following the game. Even the nicknames they give to one and other are lame, especially compared to the names Rugby League players label each other with. Quite some time ago, one of the commercial TV channels did special on funny cricketers and, fair dinkum, it was as funny as watching Chris Tavare batting. For years I had heard of what a funny bloke Doug Walters was in the dressing room, but on the TV special, he was about as funny as a toothache. Of course Doug's humour wasn't quite as bad as the dull, leaden funny side of Ian Chappell, but that didn't stop the show's producers from inflicting Chappelli's dimly sparkling wit on us anyway.
      Consider this: When Rugby League player, Julian O'Neal played for the Brisbane Broncos, he had a bad habit of when he got the ball about 10 metres out from their try line, of going for the try himself, no matter what other and better options there were for him. Because of this, his team mates began to call him the Pope.....because he wouldn't pass the pill! ( The ball. )
      Compare that to the hugely inventive name former Australian wicket keeper Ian Healy had bestowed on him by his team mates............."Heals" Now you know what I'm talking about, don'tcha? Cricketers are mostly boring people!

Some of Steve Waugh and Ricky Pontings sides were the very best teams in history and no one would have replaced them. Maybe Alan Donald and Jaques Kailis. McCullam and Bond. Cook, Flintoff Anderson and more recently Stokes. Vas, Jayasuria and Sangakara. Kholi ,Sewag and Dhoni. Lara and Roach. Not many Pakistanis stand out in the last 20 years so I'll pass. Steve Smith was born on 2 June 1989 in Kogarah, Sydney to an Australian father, Peter, who has a degree in chemistry, and an English mother, Gillian. Smith attended Menai High School, and left at age 17 to play cricket in England where he played club cricket for Sevenoaks Vine in the Kent Cricket League. He did so well for Sevenoaks that he was picked to play for Surrey's second XI.
    Because his mother was born in London, Smith has dual British and Australian citizenship.
