And Jimmy, his style of swing bowling is more suitable to English conditions while his stats down under are below par.

Smith attended Menai High School, and left at age 17 to play cricket in England where he played club cricket for Sevenoaks Vine in the Kent Cricket League. He did so well for Sevenoaks that he was picked to play for Surrey's second XI.
Because his mother was born in London, Smith has dual British and Australian citizenship.

Out of the current players, Joe Root. Australia need another solid batsmen. If Jimmy Anderson was Australian he probably wouldn't have been picked often since there's a preference for speed over swing in Australia.
