The things is, VFX artists can do AI better than anyone else. You still need vision, editing skills and artistic abilities to make things work. This might open up possibilities for people, but people with vision in general will make the best work.

Well, the thing is, the reason there's AI is _because_ of people. Unless AI becomes fully sentient like us and is able to feel emotions comparable to our level of complexity, then AI will simply remain a tool for our entertainment, which is its purpose at the end of the day.

I am a 20+ year vfx veteran and I paint w acrylics as well. As much as I don't want to believe Ai will replace MOST of the 3d and 2d pipeline, with the rate it's moving at I can't see it not happening. First on the block (and already happening..) concept artists. When a showrunner or production assistant can use Ai to generate concept images themself in a matter of hours, there's no reason to pay to have a concept artist take a week to do the same thing, other than nostalgia. I think next up will be 3d modelers, their role will change substantially to more "clean up" and "refinement", especially if somebody in production can us Ai to create a 3d model based on their concept image. We are already using Ai to write mel and python scripts, so programmers roles will change, and a studio will likely be able to function with less of them. Rigging can already be automated and Ai will make that easier. Animation, as long as it requires iterations based on creative notes, will be fairly safe but again, eventually that might be handled through prompts as well. Compositing we're already seeing Ai toolsets making their way in...it will need artists to refine and tackle things not handled by the ai well enough, but again it might mean less compositors are needed.
The big thing that most people say in response is that "you need the human touch and ai will never be able to do that" but the longer you're in the game the more you realize that money is what drives 90% of production decisions. When a studio that uses ai and gives "acceptable but not ideal" results comes in at 80% less on a bid, the director or showrunner's vision will take a back seat to the producers bottom lines and they're going to run with the one that returns them the most profit.
Things are going to change and it's going to be a bumpy ride for vfx artists who are stubborn and don't actively keep on top of Ai developments. IMHO.

😭💯. It hurts when I agree with you. This time of A.I. reminds me of the era when Photoshop & Digital Photography started to rise. The traditional film purists could feel the doom stampeding across their territory and they hated digital cameras, digital darkrooms, and digital negatives with a passion. They knew that it was going to change their industry, their workflows, and their day rates. They spent all of those man-hours learning a skill and a craft, and technology democratized their field in an almost instant. Now any man and every man is a photographer (using a telephone as a camera 😂🥴). Ultimately, life goes on, we can like it or not. The computer researchers and software developers keep on researching and developing, and corporations keep on putting out products. 1-Retiring or 2-adaptation always seem to be the ONLY answers to the march of technological progress.

I've had access to the Wonder Studio beta. It is impressive. But it is by no means just film something and poof, magic. Any shot with overlapping subjects (say, two people, or a person and a car door) tends, in my testing, to break it. I suspect that will change in the future but for now it is not capable of doing basic and fundamental masking for some types of common shots. Can it do others such as those without overlap? For sure. And very impressively. I tested it with a subject walking from in front of to behind someone and then back out. When obscured it lost the "lock" and it broke the track and mask when my subject emerged again. Also had a person go from in front of an aircraft to sitting in the seat of an open cockpit flying machine. The composite put the person on top of the aircraft, not "in" the seat. These were tests - not efforts to troll it - but find the limits. Just want folks to know - for now at least - there are limits.

In order to combat against AI, artists would need to focus more on improving their creative / conceptual thinking of ideas and concepts and utilize AI as a tool rather than outwardly avoid using it. If anybody can use AI then the next step for artists to stay ahead of the curve would be to become the individuals who use AI in the most innovative and creative ways possible to convey a message/meaning.

    • @owenshackelford8845
      @owenshackelford8845 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@RuddsReels If using AI for every project then totally, their skills will deteriorate. But with art, an artist can choose wether or not to use AI, unlike lets say the professional Art/Design field working for a studio or agency where they might be required to use AI for certain projects. I think a healthy balance between original skills and AI could be a great way to stay on top. I had this one thought today where AI art could turn into how soundcloud was. Anybody could be a musical artist with soundcloud but it was for lack of better words “searching through the piles of shit to find a diamond.” I wonder if that’s what content creation with AI will be like, but since AI can already create visually appealing work, the real artists shine through with concept / Ideas. Not sure what the exact right direction is, because A.I. is such a double edged sword, but regardless, AI is not going away anytime soon, and we as artists/creators have to find some way to utilize it, rather than sit and refuse to adjust to technological progress. As artists/designers its not only our skill but our job to consistently adjust and understand the world around us in order to create.

Just something to consider: If one person can take the workload of ten people, then ten people can take the work load of (probably more than) one hundred people.
Jobs aren't going away. In fact, companies are going to expect much more of workers. Gone are the days of the people specializing in one field. Now you gotta dominate all of them (if you want a job, that is). And smaller companies are going to benefit from this the most.

I really do hope that rotoscoping and video editing get faster. At the same time, AI will never replace a fully human brain, which means there will always be some form of artist at the forefront telling the AI what to make. Subjectivity is a distinctly human thing, and AI will never really be able to replicate human tastes or feelings in any given production where AI tools are created. And i think this video is proof of that. There isn't really anything in here that says "ai will replace your human imagination" and I think that is the key to remember when a click bait title comes along like this one.

Yes, it's amazing how technology has made VFX accessible to more people than ever before. With the power of AI and machine learning, we can achieve incredible visual effects that were once only possible with a team of experts. It's exciting to think about how this will shape the future of the industry!

What a terrible take is to think “I can do the work of 10 people” instead of “now everybody can work a 10Th of that they had to.

Instead we can do 10x more, I’ve worked in designing games it’s a big thing how they are still the same price but take way longer to make with how big they can be thanks to storage advances and things

@@lambomatt2 I'm a programmer and exactly this example with Games makes me feel a bit more secure: the games just become more and more graphically sophisticated. The photorealistic graphics, open worlds, cinematic music. No more 2d, choppy animation and music coming out of PC speaker. So I HOPE that the same thing will happen with programming jobs: that demand will continue to increase at a rapid pace, and that one team will be able to deliver all those "nice to have" out of scope functionalities for the same price. There are many companies that can benefit with introduction of some apps etc., but when it comes to film, music, these are already hugely oversaturated markets.

@@VisualKingFX no it doesn't take a genius, as a profesionnal I can guarantee it won't replace us, there are way too many parameters that need human judgment to work and trick the human brain, at best this is only good for youtube

Good point. Results are looking good on mobil screens and social media. But I used the beta with 4K simple footage on 32 inch 4K monitor. Roto-clean plate was messed up as visible floating edges. It lost tracking on big camera movements. Lighting on CG character was totally opposite angle.
So it can replace no sht yet. I quit trying. Let's see what the final release do.

its all very clever, but in a real world production envoronment on a real world brief.. its currently not useable. i dont see it being usable for at leats a 5 years, mainly because of the smaller details that need manual changes. thats being said, we gotta keep following the development.

As A.i. becomes more revolutionary, I think people will appreciate human experiences a lot more, as we’ll actually become more valuable.
People always value what comes hard, not easy. If having a 6 pack were easy, no one would appreciate it.
So, as A.I. begins to saturate the media there will always be value on human-talent more than it would with A.i.
