I'm an American who is proficient in Spanish. I knew that Portuguese and Spanish were similar. But I didn't realize how many words are the same, with the same meaning. Or are only pronounced slightly different. Especially because I've heard Portuguese spoken. But I still didn't realize this. I guess its because the accent is different. And many other Portuguese words and pronunciations are different from Spanish. Good video. There isn't a lot of Portuguese content available anywhere. Even online. Especially quality material. I don't find it a difficult language to speak or comprehend. But here in America, and México too, it's not a useful language. Basically nobody speaks it.

spanish and portuguese are both latin languages, like italian and french, but it is not that similar when you go deeper in your studies, just in the basics :O

I gotta say as a Spanish speaker, Portuguese just sounds like Spanish but more flowy, and the words are very similar and I can usually guess the sentence meaning before it’s translated que legal lol

I had this experience when I tried to move to Germany and I was learning German language since I was 7 years of age but couldn't understand a damn word when I tried to talk to a native German...
No shit. Do people in english only speak to each other with greeting phrases? No. You have to learn the language to a good level before you can understand and communicate fluent native speech. The basics are the getting-dressed-for-the-journey-ahead phase in any language learning commitment.
