FINALLY! The Fast & Furious Charger Shreds on the Dyno!

- James joins the Fast and the Furious Charger at Westech Performance Group to focus on the power on the Charger. The engine was built to replicate the one seen in the film while the characters of Dominic Toretto and Brian O'Conner reminisce of the Charger's past. Was it really as powerful as Dom claims in the movie? Or did things fall short?
#fastandfurious #dodge #charger #dominictoretto #dyno - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
Dom... YOU WERE RIGHT! "It had so much torque, the chassis twisted coming off the line!" (Barely kept it on the dyno😮)
The exact first thing I thought too
All the torque.
*"It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning"*
But still not enough for a wheelie burnout 😂
@@mikecrystalrobert7898this could actually be done if more horses were in
Thank you for not putting music during the dyno session !
That v8 makes perfect music 👌
We hope you enjoyed the sounds of the V8. The Supra isn't as easy to do this with. At lower speeds the Supra sounds like a Camry. The Charger sounds like a beast at pretty much any speed.
that's an insane torque band lol never seen one like that
What this first dyno lacked in horsepower...it sure delivered on torque!
MOPAR OR NO CAR BABY!!!
Thats because no one starts at dyno at 3500rpm except these asshats
that charger is gonna look insane next to the supra. can’t wait to see the iconic train race soon
We might just leave the train out of this race though. The big truck too.
@@JustDriven noted
nothing better to watch than KFC Collonel and Robbie Williams building a huuuge supercharger on a cammed V8! love it
You should see our full build on this Charger. Lots of fun characters in there.
Huge? Lol
Just throwing this out there to try and be helpful, as it was mentioned, you will DEFINITELY want a burst panel or a pop-off valve. You could have one false start and permanently damage both the blower and even the valves on your motor without one. Another side note with your idle issues and concerns about not moving at idle, I recommend getting a higher stall converter for the transmission so you don't have to try and choke the motor to keep it under control. Tons of great companies out there can make a torque converter with the correct stall for your application if you tell them what your setup is(engine combo, transmission, rear gears and tire size etc). Blowers are good fun but can go south quick if you don't take the right precautions, wish you guys the best of luck with this build!
EDIT: I did see the comments regarding the intake and you guys have one on the way, good to hear. If you really want to get down to the nitty gritty, you can contact people from TBS, RBS, Good Vibrations Motorsports, etc etc for tons of helpful blower info.
Thank you! All great points and helpful advice. We have a converter on our radar for sure. We’ve built many cars over the years but quite frankly this is our first Blown Hemi build. But we’re getting there. Thanks again! 🙏🏻
If nothing else, because that was my first thought as well was how could there be no burst plate, it will still do damage... But at least put sheer studs and straps on it in the meantime. Although I would imagine by now they have a new plenum.
YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!! thank you guys awesome content!!😎😎💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Thank you!
You guys are the best, I just enjoy watching you all have fun
Thank you so much!
Man how i love these outtakes
Haha...We try and give everyone a little insight into our shenanigans.
Incredible...just incredible! Guys! Thx
Thank you for watching!
Thanks for putting the correct generation hemi in it ! When I saw that old 392 gen 1 in the movie I almost cried the Chevy guys didn't know why I was upset all I told them was the distributor is in the back . Still think they don't get it
We tried to nail the look but somethings we can't fake (like the distributor).
Looks like it should have !!! Movie people don't know. Nice job!!!!
Rick sounds like the type of guy that you could strike up a conversation about cars and engines with over a beer, and next thing you realise you've just drained the whole case of beer.
He was so great to talk with. A true wealth of knowledge.
Perfect replica from movie everything you found is great amazing.😮
Thank you! We have a few things we plan on changing already.
The engine sound is music to my ears 👍
Same! It sounds so good.
The end of this is perfect. Always be open to advice from others ❤
We are always open to others opinions and advice. We are not perfect. Thanks to Rick's advice we are installing the part this week.
Dom:You know what's her best time 1/4 miles?9 second flat
We just got it tuned for the first time...so nope.
When the charger and Supra are finished you should do a video where the cars have a rematch drag race.
We really want to do this but we'll just leave out the train and the big truck.
Gotta be in Long Beach
San Pedro?
Big Torque as well with 900 Horsepower.
9:58 Corn Juice.. that funny.
We were hoping for more power but we completely didn't factor in 940 lbs of torque at 3500 RPM! That was just instant power.
@@JustDriven Big displacement of V8 pretty much insane. Big V8 advantage most I known was Torque.
Nice Hemi perfect platform for her. Tons of torque and tons of fun.
This is our first blown Hemi build. We are learning a lot.
@@JustDrivenawesome have fun with your build.
Sounds like a BEAST!
It IS a beast.
Awesome video!!!
Thanks ✅
Thank you for the view and the comment!
Automatically goes to my most favorite videos here on TH-cam
Heck yes! Thank you!
At first I was skeptical when the old timer was talking about the burst plate on his 500 C.I Hemi.... And then this man proceeds to just nonchalantly show his 500 C.I Hemi like it's a model engine he put together from a kit.. Remember kids, never judge an old timer by the length of his pony tail because he might just have a 500 C.I blown Hemi in his garage lol
Just sitting in the shop. Under a tarp. Waiting for a car to put it in. Engine first...car later.
@@JustDriven and someone probably told him he was crazy and should’ve sold it 30 years ago. What a world we live in
Or trade it for a Tesla. haha... or two.
Always something to be learned from old timers who grew up with this tech they know all the tricks. Pays to have a friend like that. Usually good people and you learn a lot and gain connections. These are very helpful people because these parts are very hard to find today, they don’t make them and most of the time it’s an old shop that made it or some famous racers shop who doesn’t race and the shop closed or something like this. So this is where the connection helps. Learn from these people as much as you can.
We are pretty convinced if you took an X-ray of Rick you'd find he's running on Hemi power.
As a big FNF fan, I appreciate these builds so much! Thank you, Just Driven! It would be amazing to see Dom in this beast! ❤❤
We are glad to oblige! We love them too that's why we treat them with all the respect.
I'm a big fan of that car. I have everything in models and toy cars of it. Very cool bro.
Awesome! We love it too.
Been waiting to see this for 25 years.
Your wait is over. Thanks for the watch.
Simply a fabulous build!
Please don’t take this as nitpicking. I’m just curious, was there a technical reason behind going with the Weiand blower over the Mooneyham?
Again, Bravo!! Well done! You knocked this one out of the ballpark!! ❤
The Mooneyham wasn't available. It was on a perpetual back order and we still don't know if they ever solved their supply chain issues.
WOW It looks and sounds exacly like in the movie! Can't wait to see it drag race with SuuuuuupraAAA! :) great job !
Thank you so much!
Awesome content as usual... but at 15.59, that's a work of art master of tetris. Lol
We had a lot of fun that day...dude is a stacking master!
Love to see a Richard Holdener review of this setup :D
We would welcome the insight and perspective!
What mufflers did you guys use? It sounds amazing!
It was a custom exhaust build from our friend Richard at BSide Fabrication.
Sounds like a beast
Pretty tough right?
727hp. That's a depressingly low horsepower figure for an engine this expensive and this hyped. I've seen 900+ out of a blown junkyard 454. Granted, I don't know how long that 454 was going to last. The caltracks are a welcome sight. I hope you take what that old dude with the ponytail says to heart
We don't think it's depressing. Not all of us anyway. With those torque figures we can't be sad. We have plans formulating already and we will be taking Rick up on his knowledge.
@@JustDriven Meeting him seems like it was a very humbling experience. First he finds two safety problems, then casually makes more power out of a smaller motor with less boost. I've had the same experience working in electronics many times.
It looks like a dinky 6-71 blower and a wiend who makes junk. I bet with a better blower it would make way more. I can't hate too much, I can't afford either.
Its the torque that gets you that hard launch off the tree .
Awesome! How much hp do you think it will make when tuned perfectly? Should be around 900+?
We are pretty happy with the tune right now. It has so much power we wouldn't know what to do with more (besides brag about the number). We will see if we end up all agreeing on adding different pulleys or not.
Awesome ending!!
Glad you liked it.
Hell yes amazing!
Thank you!
So much torque I bet the chassis twists coming of the line xD
Exactly.
It made pretty good torque, but overall I’m not impressed with the 700 horsepower. Guys are getting well over 1000 horses out of a small block Coyote with stock block, heads, and cams. For the money and with how bizarre this Hemi looks, it just isn’t over-the-top as I was expecting…… Sick build nonetheless! It looks just like Doms car from the movie!!
Keep your expectations in check. It's not about the horsepower.
We went with a tune that will keep the car on the road since it’s got many plans for the immediate future and drivers not so experienced with Big Power. Pulley changes and a different tune will easily push this car over a thousand, which is evident by the torque it made, with just this tune. Just wait for future videos. Once the car has met its obligated uses. Some minor changes and tweaks will make all the Horse Power People very happy. 👍🏻
Yeah top fuel is getting 11,000hp out of a Hemi.
@@karlsracing8422yeah with Nitro methane and way different parts that's a whole other ballpark
Then you don't know anything about streetable engines. That's a lot of HP for a street tune on a very old school setup.
Undisclosed location huh? I’m guessing these cars are going to make an appearance in the new instalment of the F&F franchise- hope I’m right!
Wouldn't that be awesome!?
@@JustDrivensubtle with your response. 🤔
I can't wait to see it at the sema❤
It'll be great to have both cars there this year. Just need to find someone to take us in.
Moving the injectors into the intake runners to care of a lot issues. Quite the task to do this but paid great dividends.
We have a video we are working on explaining the dyno issues we encountered and how we overcame them or plan to correct them coming soon.
Jd is there a video how you set up the rear end?
There is not. Sorry. The engine and drivetrain were setup by Hawaii Racing. If you watch our first video on this build we talk about what we were thinking about putting into this build with Joe from Hawaii Racing.
that thing sound insane love it
It really does! It's so awesome!
@@JustDriven you guys gotta do a burnout with it full send
Hey, that was Steve Brule back there. What up big dog? Still got your tune and the engine is running fantastic.
Oh nice! That's so cool.
💪🏻🙌🏻💯
🤘🏼🤘🏼
wicked
Totally.
I love the sound of a super charger the way it wines
Us TOO!
Damn, I hope that dyno was over 18!
👀
Can you guys build the war rig from madmax fury roads?
Oh heck yah! That would be a cool build.
I love that car so much it brings tears to my eyes thinking about owning one
They are getting more and more difficult to find and find in good shape.
What a monster 👍🏻
🤘🏼🤘🏼
That is one of the most beautiful machines I have ever seen however that is the most heavenly machines I have ever HEARD, Good LORD. I BELIEVE THIS MIGHT TOP THE SUPRA AND I LOVE THE SUPRA, BUT THIS IS JUST........DUDE beautiful, it sounds exactly like the movie
Yah, we are still debating amongst ourselves which would win. The Supra has the more horsepower and could hook up faster, but the Charger has ALL the torque and at only 3500 RPM.
@@JustDriven incredible, just be careful if you do race them, these are serious machines wear your seat belts 😄
Seat belts for sure.
That thing deserves a Hub dyno!
It was slipping the rollers a bunch. We talked about a hub dyno but we are worried it might snap one of the input shafts on the dyno with the torque and the twisting. This felt safer.
Beautiful man
The perfect muscle car
We agree! Thank you.
That thing is stoopid 🤘🤘 i want it 😂 my dream car besides an 80s countach is a 69-70 charger. Enjoy that beast. Watching it twist on the dyno, holy crap 🤘🤘
Oooo.... An 80s Countach would be fun!
Great video of an improperly tied down car.
Thanks for watching.
A trick I've used a hundred times, spraying ether or carb cleaner around the motor looking for vacuum leaks.
Never seen that on a TH-cam video before, had to comment.
Yah, we wanted to give people a little insight into what goes into tuning a car. Too many people think it's done in an hour or less. Not an entire day or even longer.
Beauty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It sure is!
@@JustDriven My dream car, but as much as I love the supercharger I prefer a Charger without one.
It's definitely much easier to see out of the windshield without one.
@@JustDriven Yup, but I'm just a fan of "pure original body look" kind of guy If I would own one 😁 I hate too much body modifications like the mustang hoonicorn, and the one inspired by it and made by 425 motorsports.
Damn man hurry up get that car in my garage I love it
You'll need a long garage! This thing is a big boy.
Check out Nelson racing if West Tech is not able to deliver for the schedule time.
We actually might have some work for Nelson Racing soon. Thanks for the advice.
THE gears that stock in that car was for superspeedway you have a hard time driving it but stick a clutch in it and that Pistol grip much more drivable
All great points and things we have been giving some serious thoughts to. A manual trans is something we’ve been considering for a while now. Thanks 👍🏻🙏🏻
Are we gonna see a real race between this beast and supra like FF1 and see whos gonna win would be iconic,I would love to see that,I really do enjoy your chanel
Thank you so much! We have a lot of logistics to iron out before a showdown can happen. This Charger is a tough cat to control. You are correct though. The race would be very close.
Now can it do a street wheelie?! ❤
With 940 lbs... Maybe?!
We didnt have the parts Vega converter in PG .But you have a huge intake its got to be rich
We will have more info to share in an upcoming video.
My dream car
Your dream car is pretty awesome!
Can’t believe you guys are only at 60k subs!
Right? Where is everybody? *crickets chirping*
@JustDriven I'm in the UK and stumbled across your supra video, watched all of that then came straight here! Fantastic content! I'm sure the subs will come, keep it up! Love it!
Heck yes! Thank you so much for the support and the confidence. We appreciate you!
What a monster
A big scary monster.
The old timer seems to know what he is talking about. Wonder what the NHRA guys think about the pressure release?
Assuming they don't want to reverse rotate their superchargers they're probably very much into the pressure release plate.
I'd put a couple of heat sinks in the fuel lines one after the pump by the fuel cell & one just before intake
We just had the exhaust finished up and were not sure where the piping was being routed. So we waited to finalize the fuel setup in the trunk. It's actually all finished already. So it didn't need much.
Just found the build in 36 mins in rec, not a fan of the cheesy series but of course been a car guy all my life and built a replica 57 fury "Christine" clone I always wanted. The workmanship on this channel is outstanding! Just a wonderful crew and the build is incredible! Hats off to you gentlemen and much respect from Ontario, Canada!
Heck yah! We just had someone ask us to build the "Christine" Fury. So glad you like our build. You don't have to love the movies to have appreciation for a great build! Thank you for your support.
It must be difficult getting the timing right on this thing hard to say if it wants more timing or not
It was the air coming in that was making the idle tune a huge PITA. We will explain what Ismael discovered in a later video. It's now finally all smooth. Our burst panel should be here this week and installed next week. So already making some changes from when this video was wrapped up.
I hope i could ride one of this
It's a rocket!
I am smiling so hard my face hurts.
Go ice that face! Thanks for watching.
I would love to see that old hotrodders motor in that car.
It wouldn't be accurate then.
We could think of some other cars we'd rather see it in. We love the motor in the Charger right now.
"We're not worthy! We're not worthy!"
You are worthy! Thanks for the support.
But how come the tires arn't smoking on the dyno like they do in the movie. I thought only turbo cars start dynos at 3500rpm to hide the lag?
There was a fair amount of dyno slipping happening. We still have some more work to do before we do a rematch on the dyno again.
Good stuffff 👍 NEW FOLLOW
Thank you so much for the support!
Wow!!! It would be nice to get in touch with Vin Diesel to take it for a spin 🙏🏻😁, beastly car!
We would need to verify Vin's license and insurance before letting him drive this thing.
God I wish I could have a car like this
It took us a while to finally pull the trigger on this build. But we are all psyched we did.
Thats man has been waiting for 10yrs to see someone get on that dyno that didnt have a blow off panel on thier blower just so theyd ask to see his. Hes been ready for years just to show off that keith black blown nascar engine with the side oiler.
It was worth the wait! Rick has so much knowledge to share. We were soaking it up!
Are you going to finish the 1970 charger soon ?
It's so close to being done.
Any updates on the charger or no?
Nothing yet. We will have some updates coming in the next few weeks.
can u guys do the nissan skyline r34 plss
We hope you'll subscribe to the channel so you can check out the 2F2F Skyline and the other Fast and Furious builds.

Still sounds better though
For now...

Fan.His dream car, and we love what all you do
Thank you so much!
Put a good wheel/slick on it so we can see the wheelie!
It has the same tires it had in the movie! But we may need some more torque to get it vertical.
This is car is a ture man muscle car for the fast and furious!🎉
All fast. AND furious.
940 fr lbs is almost 1300nm!! Amazing.
Yah, it's a bit insane. We love it!

What now?
@@JustDriven the 3NTQ305 plate year tag was it 93 or 99?
Oh! It's 99.
Какая же безумно классная эта тачка 🔥👍

I have to ask. If someone brought u a charger how much would it cost to replicate
It would depend on the Charger. But we could talk about building a Charger if someone wanted.
I would put the fattest tires on the back lol 😂
We have pretty fat tires back there.
Come on guys finish that beast o whona see it reacing withaout a problem
Never happy.
Pure beast 🤪🤪🤪

That took a special kind of collector.
Sale ?
It's currently not for sale.
That car will always be a beast can't wait to see the race against the supra, my mom's first car was 70 charger

What kind of transmission is in it
Chrysler Torqueflite 727.

Now can it do a wheelie and spin tires? Thats imposible still really nice charger
Maybe with some movie magic.
