Hey dude, you missed a few things: The T/A was a package on the Highline, much like the A66 340 package (it would be an R/T option in '71), it carried a JH23 prefix, and 1411 T/As came in automatic. That fourth trim level was the Jx29 Special Edition! In '71, the Deputy was rumored to have its own vin trim level, the JL21, I've never seen one. The '72-'74 cars also got their taillights from the Diamante show car. Well done, my dude!
This is the best car history video I've seen! Bravo to everyone involved in creating this masterpiece in car history documentation. You should be proud of yourselves!
This Host is such a A+++ voice to knowledge. It's so rare that you find the next great one and it's such a treat. Wishing him a bright future and many videos to come
Totally agree. The host personality, narration and overall production quality are top notch. This is my favorite Challenger History content on or off TH-cam. Keep ‘em comin’!
Thank you for this awesome documentary on the Dodge Challenger! I’ve had four challengers including the yellow jacket a hellcat redeye Hellcat and also a 2020 challenger 50th anniversary edition scat pack Shaker!
Thank you for all the time and effort it took to make such an outstanding video. I personally am a Mopar or no car man. My family only owned Chrysler vehicles so I was literally born into them. I like the way you addressed the short comings when it was warranted and praised it when it was deserved. It was truly a honest video about one of the most iconic cars made. Thank you sir, job well done.
Thanks for this video! I have always been a Challenger fan, and finally bought a new 2019 GT. Great car, decent performance (305 HP V6), 8 speed automatic, good handling, great ride, good looks, good gas mileage....the list goes on. Great car for the price, and it is a joy to get in and just drive.
I too Cruz a ‘19 GT -2wd; huge Goodyear F1’s (Alum. 20”x9” wheels) - 275/45-20” Rubber! 0-60 mph 6.5sec. Will run 90+ when pushed .... plus 25 mpg toooo 🥃🏁
Fantastic video man! I just bought a '21 Scat Pack Widebody (my first new car in 26 years of driving), and it was great to learn a bit of its history. As a lifelong gearhead, I knew the Challenger's broad strokes, but you definitely filled in the details with the Ken Burns treatment here. I sure appreciate what must have been the ton of work that went into this.
Love it! I thought it was a 15 minute video, but halfway I discovered it was an hour and I couldn't stop! Great detailed info about all the model years
This video made me appreciate my V6 and my Hellcat Challenger so much more as if I wasnt in love with the car already. I remember seeing the concept for this car in ‘06 when I was in the 6th grade. I said I’ll have that car and Challengers are the only cars I ever owned.
Seems I'm a bit late to finding this video but well done! I loved how there were talking points on all the trim levels, not just the most notable ones. Also, as a Scat Pack 1320 owner, it was cool to see it included as well! It is honestly a mostly forgotten or unknown variation of the SPs.
I've very much enjoyed this video and shared it with my friends and family. My first car was a 69 Camaro, and later in life I had gotten the 70 Challenger. It had the 340 and rear spoiler with four pipes on both sides. Sorry I ended up selling it, but I enjoyed it while I had it. 😎
Wonderfull documentation (I would say the *best* of all) - thanks a lot for it! Heartly greetings from out of Germany, of a huge fan of *Dodge* and their *"Challie" Redeye* (and current also of their new *Charger Redeye* "family car"), including the *Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk* with the Hellcat engine (hoping they will implant also the Redeye engine, before the production of this SUV will end...)! Addendum: The next step by Dodge was made: The *RAM TRX...* ...I *love* these guys at Dodge!
Hell yeah, even just the regular SRTs are sweet and love mine. That's if you want to call them regular, or is one of those instances where ya insert..for lack of a better word to think of at the time lol 🤣
Thank you for this informative episode. The way you explained the history of this cars past and present brought tears to my eyes. It was very heartfelt and I love my Dodge Challenger. Thanks Bro!!
Love the video, so informative and entertaining at the same time.. Being able to discuss each and every model was a huge work indeed, and the narration was superb I was instantly hooked, this video deserves more than a thumbs up but be one of my favorite videos of all time... Great video man... 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Excellent video. I been falling in love with these challengers and this video gave such great information. I feel like I understand them so much more now. I will probably watch this video a couple more times
Hi The Gearhead Lounge I just watched your video. You put so much time and precision into creating an amazing documentary about the challenger. This is hands down the best challenger video on TH-cam. So much information explained clearly and with accuracy. Very nice video clips, great choice of music, kept my attention throughout. Amazing job!!!
This video was very well crafted, narrated, and put together. I remember over the course of last year I was searching for my dream car (Dodge Challenger RT) during the last call and I would ultimately come back to this video over and over again just for fun as well as for comfort. I succeeded my mission last July (2023) and I must say this video really fueled my inspiration even more along the way. To this very day I still watch it and any content you put out I ultimately vow to support, even the NBA stuff which is also another one of my passions. Thank you for your continuous inspiration and knowledge. Looking forward to all of your work of the future. 👑 Thank you !
Wow! Amazing video, man! One thing I want to add is regarding the yellow turn signal / daytime running lamps and how you feel they look wrong. I really respect your opinion but want to add that most of us Challenger owners actually love them as we can see our fellow owners coming at us from far away, and also in the 2016 and up it’s still there along with the halo. You can turn them on or off depending on your personal preference. Again, really great video, man!
Nice vlog! Picked up a modded 2017 SRT392 Jan 2024, dropped & resonators delete, just 5 days after production ended. I think the SRT392 is the sweet spot, as you said, 'They could have stopped right there." 485 HP is enough for me.
You are extremely thorough and precise. It's obvious that you've done a great deal of research. Great video! If you do this much research on the Camaro, including it's numbers at the Nurburgring tracks, you'll be surprised and impressed with it, as well! Camaros are very underrated! Just a suggestion.
This has to be hands down the best video and history about any car on TH-cam. I am a huge Dodge fan. You mixed humor and history and now I am obsessed with buying a used Challenger like the one I used to own. Keep up the good work!!!
I had a 70 challenger pistol grip 4 speed not a dent or scratch in the 80's. I did get in a lot of trouble with it, always there would be red & blue flashing lights behind me damn I loved that car!
I have a 2017 Challenger T/A in contusion blue. It's one of only 33 I believe. Something like 60 contusions blue T/A's were produced and it's a 2017 only color.
Awesome video!!!!!!! Outstanding job, my friend. Just purchased a new 22 Challenger Scat Pack Wide-Body a few weeks ago. Waiting for the snow, ice and salt to be gone before I take it out. In other words, Mid-April.
That's awesome! Yeah, I think the Scat Pack is the best all-around, not-go-to-jail, daily driver! Must be torture waiting for Spring...thanks for watching my video! Enjoy that Scat Pack!
This was the best car video I have ever seen. Not just saying that because I own a challenger…. This is the best video on the subject of challenger hands down.
Your modern V-6 would have smoked a stock 340 from the 70's and with the AC blasting and an automatic transmission and you still would not spill one drop of your coffee from the built in cup holders. It also will get upper 20's on the highway. Try that back in 73.
Great production!!! Well written and presented. You should update the video including the last call editions and their back stories. Also about Stelantis and their electrification strategy, common platforms and powerunits and the future of Dodge and Challenger name plate. Again, excellent video. 👌
"Great economics", bro.! I have a 2016 Challenger and I understand the entitlement of his entire video as a big help. "Thanks" for the narration of this video!
Absolutely great video. The best look at the champion Challenger! Need one bad! Many to choose from in this perfect video. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏hopefully soon there’ll be one for me! Thanks so much.
Dude you hit everything about the challenger!!! I talked my buddy into getting a 2021 hellcat. He already had a 2014 ZL1 and a 2009 Corvette He loves that car and like always they all had a 6 speed manual transmission.
Great job on this video. I own a SRT Yellow Jacket, so it was nice to see it in there. I can tell you had a ball putting this together and you did your homework. A+
Good job, really enjoyed this video. Learned stuff about my car. I suggest you do an update to 2024. I know someone who just got a Challenger R/T 5.7 and is absolutely falling in love with it. He has told me that he has driven Mustangs, Camaros and Corvettes and this is by far the most fun car he has ever driven.
This is an EXCELLENT video! I've been a MOPAR man since I was a kid, having a huge crush on Challengers in high school when Cudas were more popular. I always thought the Challenger had sexier lines, and the snorkel scoops was the shit! Late 70s early 80s you could find them for about $500. to $800. in good running condition. I think the yellow turn signal "head lights" may be a nod to us old school guys. We had no neon or LED, just yellow fog lights. Long before neon came along, we'd mount yellow fog lights behind grill, or under grill facing the ground to light the road like a yellow "red carpet". I also made custom "shades" or black out light covers for any car. I was given a not running 67 Barracuda for repairing an elderly woman's Mercury wagon in my 20s! Also love Dodge trucks. Great video, thanks for keeping music tasteful and lower volume than your voice, some people don't know if they want to be a DJ, or talk about the subject. Please do one, if you have not already, on AMC: JAVELIN, AMX, SRAMBLER, and AMC/JEEP EAGLE WAGON and 4X4 AMX. And if possible, all HURST cars, like early 70s Pontiac Gran Prix, 75 Oldsmobile Cutlass, and all others. THANK YOU!
I love early 80s Chargers/Challengers. FWD Turbo coupés. Cool stuff. But when the first gen NEW Challegers stole my heart back in 2005. I wanted a R/T with the big 6.2L HEMI. They are actually affordable now..I might get one
Great video , I am a muscle car guy, Mopar first. Challenger is cool. The Demon is a Monster when it comes to Drag Racing Dodge knows more than anyone else, as well as Ford and Chevrolet. The Euro and Japanese manufacturers have no history in Drag Racing
Thanks for the detailed review, very informative and interesting. I bought myself a 2020 Dodge Challenger Scatpack Widebody 50th Anniversary, limited edition, #2 out of 70, and could not be more happier :)
Nice video! I'm late to the party, bought my 2017 SRT392 in Octane Red 5 days after Challenger was discontinued 12-31-23. I liked your comment that Dodge could have stopped with the SRT392. To me it's the sweet spot with options.
I am sooooooo impressed by this video. Well written, well produced. I've seen so many videos about Challengers. This one stands out in the crowd!
Thank you so much!
100% agree.
True indeed!

I've owned Mustangs for nearly 20 years...I'm very happy with my 21 Scat...Dodge is definately a force to be respected.

Just bought an RT and this was an amazing watch. You have a great, friendly manner that makes listening to you nice and tons of knowledge.
Thank you so much! Enjoy that R/T!
Thank you for this awesome documentary on the Dodge Challenger! I’ve had four challengers including the yellow jacket a hellcat redeye Hellcat and also a 2020 challenger 50th anniversary edition scat pack Shaker!

Just purchased a 2022 RT/TA 392 six speed manual. Awesome car!! Possibly the last year of the Hemi!
Congrats on your purchase! You better hold on to it because I believe that sadly, you may be right!!

Love it! I thought it was a 15 minute video, but halfway I discovered it was an hour and I couldn't stop! Great detailed info about all the model years

Challenger has always been bigger than the Mustang and Camaro.
Challenger has always been that and looked way better thru out all the years then the Camaro or mustang
Not to mention, only muscle car left with usable trunk, And usable back seat.
Thanks for the detailed review, very informative and interesting. I bought myself a 2020 Dodge Challenger Scatpack Widebody 50th Anniversary, limited edition, #2 out of 70, and could not be more happier :)
Nice! ...and thank you for the kind words!
This is a very impressive documentary. You sir, did an outstanding job.
Thank you so much!
Nice video! I'm late to the party, bought my 2017 SRT392 in Octane Red 5 days after Challenger was discontinued 12-31-23. I liked your comment that Dodge could have stopped with the SRT392. To me it's the sweet spot with options.
Congratulations! Hey, better late than never!
Thank you Sir, for this automotive history video, Brilliance!
Thank you so much!

Very nicely done! The Prowler and That T-bird were both designed by Chip Foose! The Prowler was his senior design school project!
