Kofi Williams funny but I did think it was nice that captains started caring or at least stopped not giving a shit about their colleagues. It always bothered me how yamamoto was ready to burn most his captains to a crisp rather than let them escape, literaly minutes after soi fon said she was not ready to die or that kyoraku and ukitake worried about lilinette while hitsugaya was fighting hallibel just yards away

Well, without Aizen, Toshiro would have defeated Haribell at first. She couldn't break out of the ice of her own. So it could very well be considered a win.

Agreed. I don't think anyone has ever done Starrk justice in how well he embodies loneliness and gives another dimension in the fight of Aizen (being that not all of the Espada are completely aligned with that side). Would be super cool to get that

Its anime, ice is simultaneously OP (a lot of the time, Esdeath from Akame ga Kill for eg) and weak. Instantly freezing everything either ends most fights or they just break out like nothing happen
Plasmancer he’s the only caption who constantly lets his enemies get away with basically no permanent damage. Shit aokiji from one piece would make a much better captain.

Toshiro and rangiku are my favorite captain and lieutenant duo, I can't get enough of them 😂
The thing to remember is Hyorinmaru is the highest grade ice blade in Soul Society, like Yamamoto's was the highest level fire.
They are in the same class of power. The difference is Yamamoto was the oldest and most experienced captain, while Toshiro is the youngest and most green. Even before it's final form reveal it was noted a few times, given 100 more years, Toshiro would be ridiculously broken.

TheNinjaDC it was NEVER stated that Hyourinmaru and Ryuujin Jakka were on the same level wtf. Only that Hyourinmaru is the strongest ice Zanpakuto. Which doesn't mean anything unless there were lots of other strong ice Zanpakuto....there aren't.
Fact is, Hyourinmaru is trash. How do you even kill people with it? You have to control a giant ice dragon in attempts to freeze the opponent...only to watch them break out of the ice and being fine lol.
Hyourinmaru is literally like: "I'll do my best to make you the least deadly, punishing Shinigami ever!"
Gin was also able to stop Hitsugaya's Shikai without even releasing Shinso. He literally just stopped it with the tip of his Wakizashi...damn...
Also the whole "boy genius will be op in future" head canon is bullshit.
Others like Gin, Byakuya or Soi Fon aren't _that_ much older than Hitsugaya. They are very talented too and would have continued to get stronger, too. At no point is there any kind of indication that he'd ever surpass them

Also While its true that hyorinmaru doent seem to have deadly attacks in the same way as many other zanpakutou's, that doesn't necessarily mean its bad. Im not going to say its at the level of ryujinjakka because theres no way to know but essentially it has the ability to control the weather and if that truly is the case that could def be extremely powerful. The potential of ice should def not be underestimated
@@chanceofbliss8175 Yeah Shunsui said that. Just like multiple characters "noted" how Hitsugaya was a genius. Kubo had to make characters say it because - simply from portrayal - no one could tell. He hasn't done anything at all during the entire series that would make viewers go: Wow. What a prodigy.
Other than his young age. Again: Hitsugaya's only reason for existing is "having a cool young kid among the captains" and he justifies his young age by saying "he's a genius". A super clieche character that was executed extremely badly.

Honestly, Toshirou was the perfect match for Gerard. He wouldn't kill him. He wouldn't be victiourious over him. He would just freeze him and make it a stalemate. But Kubo was like "nah not good enough" and write himself into a corner until Deus Ex Machina appeared.

Hitsugaya became my favorite third captain when i read the special chapter of his backstory. In some sense it was really sad how he who is meant to be someone so powerful didnt want to hurt the ones he loved. Him becoming a shinigami was very brave
I personally am indifferent towards Toshiro, but I really love his powers, the way I see it: Ice/Cold and Electricity/Lightning are the most badass powers you can have (this is mainly the reason I particularly enjoy seeing Aokiji) they are just so visually cool and the ice is extremely versatile, if you are creative enough you can basically apply it to every kind of situation

If you were in a game of chess, reached a checkmate, but then someone else came over and flicked your piece off the board and just said to play on, you wouldn't really consider it as "oh the games still on I haven't won yet" you'd call it cheating.
Forever Outraged shark girl does not control all source of water. shark girl can create water from her gills, and can manipulate any water in her general vicinity up to a certain body / amount, including its temperature. Toshirou froze her gills, along with everything else on her and the space around her, stretching from the ground to the sky. too much frozen water for her to manipulate, and no space given for her to create more without just freezing that too. she needed Wonderweiss to continue by shattering the ice.
@unholymonkey but she couldn't? deadass, watch the fight, on her own she does nothing, she is encased in ice, and Hitsugaya announces that her life will fade from existence while she's in there. saying Wonderweiss braking her out by screeching (which also blew away the fallout of Soifon's bankai) makes it a loss is like saying throwing someone in a swimming pool with their hands and legs tied isn't murder because someone else drained the pool.

@@platinum2263 I think she would have broken out eventually. she was slightly overpowering hitsugaya through most of that fight. that being said he did win the first fight but I wouldn't say it was a clear cut win. I would compare it to Kakashi vs Zabuza. Zabuza technically beat kakashi but then sasuke and naruto broke him out.
Your metaphor doesn't work, it'd work if someone came and woke up the person you knocked out, not if they got back up on their own.

Yep. Both Harribel and Luppi needed to be saved otherwise they would’ve died or been trapped forever. A better analogy would be imagine getting knocked out by someone and having a friend help you up and then you try to say it was a draw.

@@lillith7257 I disagree with Byakuya being the same as Toshiro in the fandom. Mostly because Byakuya not only lived up to his hype most of the time, he also tends to either destroy his opponents or just barely lose. Meanwhile Toshiro either wins sort of outside the box or his fight gets interrupted. The only thing similar they have going for them is the love of fan girls and even then I'd argue Byakuya's might actually be a detriment to his character arc vs Toshiro, it never really mattering.
As for Mayuri, I'd point out that the difference there is that Mayuri fights a lot less fights and thus has far less defeats or even struggle if we're being honest. The only person that got lots of fights and kept looking badass was Ichigo and for that to happen he literally had to have a monster crawl out of him at various points during the series.
Your synopsis on toshiro vs holibell is wrong cause she didn't break out herself. She needed help otherwise maybe she would've been trapped for a thousand years.

He couldn't maintain his adult form because it was similar to final getsuga tenshou and Gon's adult form.
He needs to be in his Bankai mode for 24/7 which must be draining. Not to mention his mental state was

Toshiro is basically anime main character. He’s a badass that looks young so people overlook him. He’s cool looking, ice is cool, his power has an interesting gimmick, and he’s honestly the most emotionally invested in the whole Aizen thing other than Gin and Momo.

I know it was due to the creator having to wrap up the series so quickly that he resorted to doing that but strategically it makes no sense and I personally would've preferred seeing how (if they even could) the crew get past these broken-ass abilities

He could of allowed byakuya, hitsugaya and kenpachi kill Gerard with that last trio combo attack they did but no he had to make Gerard heal again for no reason just to have the boss kill him anyway. Love Toshiro he is my favorite character in Bleach. I very quickly found him interesting cause he felt like he was a protag in a story that already had a protag XD and actually as the show went on him and Ichigo had more and more similarities. Both are young people with huge amounts of potential that they can't tap into yet, both carry their swords on their back and have blue energy, and both have two potential love interests with one being dark haired and having a smaller cuter physique(who is their better potential love interest) and the other is a well endowed orange haired girl.

I always liked Toshirou because it seems he's constantly trying to prove that he is a proper captain as well despite being young. He has many cool and strong abilities but due to how immature his bankai is, he can't maintain them for a long time or effectively which of course defeats the purpose. Still he got a lot of potential to be one of the strongest captains.
Holy crap, Buddhist hell in itself sounds like an overpowered Bankai, like an Ice version of Kyoraku's. That was pretty interesting

well Toshiro may be a fan favorite character but was he Kubo's favorite? That's the thing. Mayori has a great track record because he is obviously Kubo's favorite. I don't think Toshiro is.
Honestly though, Toshiro suffers the same fate as the majority of the characters in bleach. They all get pretty lackluster performances. some might get like one or two moments to shine but that's it. When was chad ever really relevant outside when he first got his power? Orihime defeated a hollow when she got her power but after that the only ability of hers that works is her defensive ones. So many shinigami were introduced but the majority of them don't do anything all that great. When you have a large cast of characters, the chance for any one of them to shine becomes small.
That's why one piece almost entirely focuses on the straw hats. That's why Dragon Ball pretty much follows Goku and Vegeta these days. That's why Fairy Tail with its large cast of characters really only follows the antics of the main couple characters. Bleach kept introducing new characters, hyped them up to be badasses, then did nothing with them because its impossible to give everyone the spotlight.
In my opinion they should have only focused on maybe one or two divisions to start. Byakuya had to go retrieve Rukia so maybe just focus on his division to start. Have ichigo fight against his division and eventually different arcs would branch out and have ichigo chilling with different divisions. This would let you build up the key players in each division in an arc dedicated to them.
Bleach had a lot of wasted potential. Honestly almost every arc in bleach seemed rushed to me.

I loved Toshiro in the Quincy arc. Does nothing, dies, revives, turns into the hottest guy ever, does nothing. It went just as expected.

Funny thing is Toshiro failed to kill major enemies like Harribel and Luppi after encasing them with chunk of ice but Kubo made Rukia's zanpakuto is the coldest one, not the "powerful" one so there is a contradiction there. And, she managed to kill several major enemies like that Ninth Espada and As Nodth. Then we gotten to know the differences between Shikai and Bankai of Hyorinmaru is the quantity of ice its generates. I personally think Hyorinmaru is just a fancy zanpakuto with fancy attack names with fancy reiatsu but not really intimidating. If I were an enemy to shinigami and had to fight with ice based zanpakuto, I'd rather fight Toshiro's Hyorinmaru than Rukia's Sode no Shirayuki.
2 abilities are different. Because Toshiro is more man and buff likely. And Rukia's is more female and lighter than Toshiro's bankai. So yeah the most advantage ice gets is lighter. That's how Rukia's is stronger than him. But also Rukia's bankai most likely one point release and Toshiro is time based bankai. Yet we see different in quincy arc having like dangai mode more mature Toshiro.

It isn't that they are the same skills in shikai and bankai, it's that he has such mastery over his zanpakto, that he can use his bankai skills in shikai

If I were Toshiro I would constantly pile on more and more ice after I froze someone. Once Harribel was in the pillar of ice flowers I'd keep that power going as long as I could, make the pillar really big, then probably throw the move he used on Luppi on top of that a few times. Probably would also cast some Bakudo on there to be sure. Nobody has ever stayed properly imprisoned in his ice so he should really start taking precautions
Toshirou Hitsugaya is one of the badass ice users on anime since Cygnus Hyoga and Aquarius Camus from Saint Seiya
I'd put him up there with Esdeath (Akame Ga kill), Free (Soul Eater), Aokiji (One Piece), Todoroki (Boku no Hero) and Horokeu Usui (Shaman King). His powers are cool, especially his true bankai but his personality and character are pretty boring.

@@chimeraking5286 100% agree. Horo - Horo was also my favourite character in shaman king because of the way he fights with a snowboard (also he's funny). He's the reason I started snowboarding haha.
@@FryedPidgey I actually always really liked his personality as a character. I viewed him like this. He is a prodigy, the youngest captain to ever claim a seat. He has all this expectation placed upon him, all these people looking to him to do great things. So he is constantly overcompensating for his immaturity, trying to be the stoic and badass captain that he sees in Byakuya (for example). However, you notice that a lot of characters around him act childishly, and try to get him involved in the acting up. I think the others are picking up on the deeply buried desire to still be young and immature, and he hates it so much because he feels like he can't be that person.

Has he ever won a fight? If I were to rank the OG 13 Captains (in terms of how strong they were during the whole Aizen saga - not including TYBW), I'd rank him 11th. Only above Ukitake (cuz he ill) and Komamura. Literally everyone else would punk the "genius"....who doesn't even seem much like a genius. The three most gifted captains were probably Yamamoto, Aizen and Gin. If you wonder "why Gin?": Gin finished the academy in only a year and was already a seated officer when Byakuya (talented himself and around the same age - maybe even couple years older) was still in academy. And actually showed his smarts and extraordinary skills through feats
I also never understood why people think his Zanpakuto was cool. The Zampakuto is a weapon. It's meant to be used to _kill_ people. Is there any more bothersome and roundabout way to kill someone than controlling a giant ice dragon in attempts to freeze an opponent to death - which never happens...he eventually manages to finally freeze his opponent and then they break out lmao. It's both annoying to use and ineffective. It's so trash lol.
There are plenty of Zanpakuto that have more useful Shikai than Hitsugaya's _Bankai_

Man, you were REALLY badmouthing Toshiro at the start of this video. So little hype that the tension was almost palpable. I don't get why you hate on him so much. I mean, he isn't my favorite, but he is definitely a fun character. He's constantly overcompensating for his age difference, always trying to act more mature than he actually is, and just barely managing to pull it off. Other characters always seem to pick up on a sense that he desperately wants to just mess around and be young, even as he fights against that side of himself. And his ice dragon is so interesting to watch.
As for his record.... I find he's kind of like Worf from Star Trek. He is an insanely powerful prodigy, so he is used to create a sense of power. The idea is "Even Toshiro is having a hard time with this guy, he must be REALLY strong!"
As for the Halibel fight being one or two fights... I gotta disagree with you. He froze her in that ice tower. She was as good as trapped there. Even if he didn't destroy her body, he had her beat dead to rights. Then the fight gets interrupted, and she gets freed. To me, that's giving Halibel a second chance, which ended up being interrupted again when Aizen cut her in half. So really, he won that first fight, then had his fight ended by an interloper afterwards (where he wasn't doing so good the second time around).
It seems to me that he wouldn't have an issue with Toshirou if he wasn't one of the most popular characters in the series.
Smiling Jay Toshiro is ridiculously overrated.
He has one of the most generic abilities in shonen though. He controls ice and can make dragons come out of his sword. That's about as generic as it gets. Plus for somebody that was considered a prodigy he really doesn't do much of anything. Besides that its weird that 2 characters in the series have ice abilities. Rukia's shikai is more interesting than toshiro's bankai lol

She is sakura 2.0, both hit protagonists, are flat as a board, have short hair, marry someone who tried to kill them. Plus rukia looks like a little boy more then toshiro does.

Toshiro has a great Zanpakuto buuuut he's one of the weaker captains lol. Mayuri easily takes the W, Aizen ends the fight in one strike twice, Kenpachi says he'd split him in half. He just has such a bad record. He basically beat Cang Du and Shawlong the same way, by surprising him.

Show me one person who's seen Kyouka Suigetsu sword release and was able to beat Aizen (besides God tier Ywach himself). Mayuri's can't beat Histugaya in a 1v1 sword vs sword but add in all of his drugs and what not, he could win. Strongest version of Toshiro vs Strongest version of Kenpachi ain't that easy.
@@visionaryvjae5641 If you read the novels (Spirits are Forever with You) Aizen makes it clear that he didn't want to face Kenpachi with the other captains, so he lured him into Hueco Mundo to face Yammy. Also, despite Yama seeing Kyouka Suigetsu, Aizen used Wonderweiss to make sure he wouldn't be able to fight at full power.
That's still besides the point; Hitsugaya has no significant wins. He only beat a Fraccion and a Sternritler who didn't use Vollstandig.
@@Blah2000Blah I said name someone who has BEATEN as in defeated. But for your argument yes Yama would wreck base Aizen at full power but Arrancar arc Kenpachi wouldn't beat Aizen. Aizen was probably afraid of Kenpachi's true power not his supressed power.
Now the fact that you had to mention the strongest shinigami in the verse at that time to suggest someone could beat Aizen shows that losing to Aizen isn't an uncommon thing. It's like saying losing to Edo Madara in Naruto is a disgrace🤔 I mean it just bound to happen.
Also you realise Aizen is stronger than all the espada in his base form meaning he's stronger than Yammy so him setting up a Kenpachi vs Yammy situation doesn't even suggest Kenpachi can beat Aizen

To entertain that statement, Aizen did at least have shinigami he was worried about, so you mentioning that no one beat him doesn't negate the fact that Hitsugaya was cut down in one strike twice.
I never mentioned Yammy's power, so I don't understand the point of what you're saying. There's no point in you mentioning that Aizen is stronger than all Espada because Hitsugaya hasn't killed any Espada, so of course Aizen is out of his league.

I'm sure TEKKING once again , had a rant about toshiro ice clone ability but to the anime credit , they didn't have it be at the end of the episode and they corrected the mistake of having the ice clone bleed out, so the episode just shows the ice clone as a stand still when it got sliced and it just when on break instead of having us wait a whole week for nothing.
