About Aizen no-selling Suzumebachi: the worst part is, we can't actually be sure that's what he did. When Soifon's attack on Aizen failed, I never believed his claim that his Riatsu eclipsed hers and thus nullified her ability. While I can believe that phenomena to be true, I dont think the gap was big enough at the time. Instead, my theory is that Soifon never actually stabbed Aizen, and that what she actually stabbed was just the illusion of him created by his Zanpakuto. Aizen merely said what he did because, even though it was technically true, mostly he just didn't want to give away the fact that they were already under his spell yet.
I mean, I believe it's fair to say that the gap between soi fon and Aizen was great enough to nullify the 2 hit kill ability, because soi fon scales under barragan who has an ability of equal or greater hax status(respira) and it's safe to assume that Aizen's spiritual pressure was great enough to nullify respira because otherwise barragan would've just used it to kill Aizen the first chance he got, so if barragan couldn't do anything to Aizen with reapira it's doubtful Soi Fon could do anything to him with her Shikai, not to mention Gin states that he never used or never needed to use Kyoka suigetsu on the arrancars to make them follow him. Not saying your theory is necessarily wrong, but it can't be predicated on the fact that Aizen wasn't sufficiently stronger than Soi Fon, especially considering she's not even among the stronger captains.

Personally I think Soi Fon is bae, I can see your point in that she doesnt really do much but I still liked her whole thing in taking over Yaruichi and still admiring because she looked upe to her. I agree with you that she's bae, there's too few badass petite women in anime. The sad thing about Soi Fon is that she never gets to really be anything. Whenever she's supposed to shine the either gets overshadowed or curbstomped. I really wanted to like her but she was basically always the punching bag.
My headcanon is that Aizen made an invisible reiatsu barrier so the seal formed on that just above his skin, and didn’t actually make contact. His speech to her afterwards was just metaphorical. I mean it’s bullshit but it kinda works.

I had a great idea for making soifons bankai a little more interesting. It starts with soifon getting immediate awareness of every wasp mark she has ever made. This alone makes her one of the scariest bankai ever because this ability works across any distance and soifon immediately becomes a fly on the wall of any conversation. Next is the cruise missile. While it can still be used like she currently uses it. She can now also lock it on to any mark she has ever made. The missile operate for years even if soifon releases her bankai, constantly looking for a way to deliver its payload. This bankai is still not meant for soifons form of combat, instead it mirrors modern espianogue and assassination tactics. Where I imagine this Bankai really shines is soifons ability to keep anyone in check because of the constant threat of a middle coming after you.
I was hoping Aizen's not dying from the poison was something like "The Hyogokyu has changed my physiology to the point that basic venoms has no effect on me. *Nice try little girl* ". Also, for Komomura, you can break out that fursuit we all know you own!

The Lowballs for Soi fons Shiki and Bankai😨😰. Soi fon is easily an top tier captain (until end of TYBW Arc) being stronger than Barrigan (lost to his Time Hax [his base form also had a time hax to keep himself safe]) and being the only Captain who was fine after losing her bankai during the TYBW arc. She just has Archer Luck.
Her zanpaktou suits her personality. Shikai is her as stealthy always her first choice. Her bankai is her desire to accomplish her mission at all costs, regardless of her preferences, her allies or even herself the target WILL be killed.
Never watched more of Bleach than a random episode or two. Still enjoying these videos, I think I even got a pretty good idea of how the power system/weapons work. Damn Tekking, you might have got me to finally give Bleach a watch soon.
The captain with the larger reiatsu. Eg, if yamamoto was a vice captain, his shikai would be more like Amagais powers in the filler. But his reiatsu amplifies his power.
To be fair, ninja were really fond of their explosives. They were some of the first people in Japan to use firearms and bombs However, her refusal to use her shikai unless an opponent is worthy is very anti-ninja, ninja cared very little for honour, their only goal was pretty much to get the job done, if they were tood to kill someone, they would use the best tool for the job every time
The way I always heard the thing with Aizen went down was basically the same thing Kenpachi did in his first fight with Ichigo where his superior reiatsu coats his body like armor so Suzumebachi couldn't pierce him for either hit, that always made sense to me though granted if that's the case it wasn't explained very well
Nah, the double sting landed, it pierced his flesh, left a mark and everything. Soi Fon didn't get hurt from striking Aizen the way Ichigo did from striking Kenpachi. The problem was Aizen outclassed her by what I imagine is one to four orders of magnitude in terms of spiritual pressure, so he just tanked the attack. Soi Fon's ability could be interpreted this way : So long as I'm fighting an enemy which is roughly my equal or weaker in raw spiritual pressure, I will kill them with two stings in the same spot. Hypothetically, if she'd managed to land anywhere from a hundred up to possibly ten thousand "double stings" on Aizen, it might finally overcome his spiritual pressure and kill him, but also we need to remember Aizen had the hyogoku, which was an immortality cheat code. At best, Soi Fon would just push Aizen to evolved into a stronger form in a manner similar to Gin's Bankai. Ultimately, The Double Sting Certain Kill is her shikai release, which is considered at least 10 times weaker than a bankai, and everything scales with base power. Aizen was able to incapacitate four captains with a single slice of his unreleased sword. I repeat, he one-shots captain level shinigami without any need for a freaking shikai. My guess is, he could probably eat ten of Son Foi's bankai missiles to the face and come out of it completely unscathed. Aizen is just that broken. Even Yamamoto giving up an arm to unleash a supremely powerful point blank kido spell on Aizen barely left a scratch. It makes you wonder why he ever bothered with an elaborate plan to defeat soul society in the first place. The dude did just fine overcoming the gotei 13 on his own power. In my opinion, Kubo wrote himself into a corner with Aizen, which is why we got the Deus Ex Machina of Final Getsuga/Mugetsu, an attack that was specifically written in such a way as to defeat Aizen, yet leave our protagonist unable to unleash it ever again, so as to ensure a reset of the power creep. In the end, Bleach never truly recovered from the mishandled resolution of Aizen's rebellion, with the anime adaption being abandoned soon afterwards. Many felt it should had been handled better, with more foreshadowing of Ichigo's potential to reach a level beyond bankai, that Aizen should have been weaker in overall power, but able to outwit his enemies more consistently as he often did in the earlier arcs, instead of playing the "My power level is so beyond yours I don't even care that you land this supposedly instant kill attack on me" card. What made Aizen work as a villain was a combination of wits, charm and power, but as we moved closer and closer to the climax of his story, wits and charm went out the window in favor of ultimate, completely broken power alone. Base Aizen alone, with just his Perfect Hypnosis ability, his well rounded shinigami training, his intellect, his ambition and his leadership ability drawing powerful hollows and even a few other captains to his side, was more than enough to serve as the main antagonistic force of the whole show. No further power creep was required, and having Aizen "forget" he has an nigh unbeatable shikai when it became clear Ichigo had turned the power creed tables on him was the greatest disservice his character ever got. Better way to resolve the story : Aizen uses his Hollow army, not just a few select fractions and espadas, the whole freaking army he had to conduct a war of attrition. He also employs superior tactics based on his careful study of captain's sword releases, since he was able to spy on them with impunity over the past 100 years, and of course frequent abuse of his shikai as the deciding factor against the toughest opponents, reinforcing the idea that Ichigo is the only one with the potential to beat him. The war ends with Aizen victorious and completely overtaking soul society, forcing the survivors of the Gotei into exile or servitude. I like to think that at this point several other captains, such as Kenpachi and Son Foi, reluctantly join his side. In the meantime, Ichigo proceeds to blind himself, discover his Quincy heritage, and round up his training, preferably developing more than just "Getsuga freaking Tensho" as a viable attack, I mean the man never got to learn a single freaking kido spell in the actual series... wut? Then we get the OG gang of Rukia, Orihime, Chad and Ishida back together + surviving allied lieutenants and captains, all stronger than ever before to face Aizen and his Dark Soul Society for the final showdown of the series, during which Aizen finally reveals a totally freaking broken hyogoku + Soul King status amplified bankai where his sword creates a fourth realm (beyond Earth, Soul Society and Hueco Mundo), a realm of which the very physical laws allowed him to finally realize the full potential of the hyogoku, creating perfect Hollow/Shinigami hybrids. The catch? He had to give up the hyogoku itself to make this dimension manifest, so he's pretty much all in at this point. And then Ichigo fucks him up real good, restores the peace, and goes home with Orihime (Or Rukia, or Yoruichi, or whoever's the favorite ship at this point really.) and learns to use his "Ultimate Secret Sword" that has the insanely broken power of life creation. The End. Also Chad was my favorite character of all and you wasted him Kubo :D.
When Soi Fon was about to kill Aizen i think what he meant when he said that her attack wont work was that he could remove the marks before she can attack him twice because he had way more spirit energy compared to her. During the soul society arc she stated that her marks used to come off because she hadn’t yet masted it so i think that the marks are kido based so they can be removed if the difference between Soi Fon’s spirit energy and her opponent is too great.
Well Aizen was using Kyoka Suigetsu while Sui Feng stabbed him, so maybe it Aizen made it appear as if she stabbed and went on that little "battle of reiatsu" monologue just to sound cool

No, it's Kubo saying *OVERWHELMING POWER* trumps weaker abilities, which is something long established in Bleach: Kenpachi could stop most people from injuring him just by virtue of being so damn strong, even without consciously protecting himself and actively gimping himself. However, there's a caveat; having overwhelming power doesn't make you invincible, it just makes you harder to deal with. It's still possible to hurt someone like Kenpachi by simply focusing one's reiatsu more precisely, but on the flip side, they don't have to exert as much focus to hurt you. In Aizen's case, his reiatsu was so tremendous that he could force out foreign energies like the poison created by Soifon's Suzumebachi, as Aizen was many times stronger than an average Captain and Soifon was on the lower end of the spectrum, compensating her lack of raw power with speed and skill. There's a certain rationale behind this that I've always had, but Kubo never really explained his own system beyond a few fancy terms and vague, inconsistent demonstrations of strength, so anything I come up with is just my own, never to be substantiated theories.
Brutalyte616 it makes sense they have to be relatively close to each other in terms of power to hurt each other the only shinigami that have the raw power to hurt Aizen are Yamamoto and Ichigo since soi-fon is more of a finesse and skill based fighter is was a bad match up for her I imagine she would do better against some other captains

Like maybe he already fully studied her zanpakuto and pumped himself full of an antidote he created or something. It'd still fit him and would be a cooler counter. It just sucks to see such a cool zanpakuto get reduced to basic number crunching like that. At that point why even use the poison if higher power levels cancel it out? Just have a projectile thats easier to hit with and focus on raising your own power level. And isnt the whole point of the stinger and said poison to be hyper focused in the first place?

The point(no pun intended) is that Aizen couldn't exert enough reiatsu to block the actual stab from Suzumebachi, but he understood the mechanics of it well enough to realize he just had to exert his reiatsu to overpower and neutralize the effect; it's the Bleach equivalent of getting bit by a black mamba and then flexing the venom out while the snake just stands there, dumbfounded by the absurdity of what it has just witnessed.

Weak Nen vs strong Nen Rasengan not hurting Juubito Kamehameha and Final Flash not hurting Broly This isn't a foreign concept, it's actually pretty basic but comes down to how in depth the writer wants to take it. In Bleach everything is powered by Reiatsu, if a person's is significantly higher than their opponent's then it can be countered/ negated. Remember when Ichigo couldn't cut Kenny, or Aizen's finger, or Grimmjow, or Ulquiorra, or BARELY cut Aizen even with his hollow mask. It's all about Reiatsu.

The sad thing about Soi Fon is that she never gets to really be anything. Whenever she's supposed to shine the either gets overshadowed or curbstomped.

My headcanon is that Aizen made an invisible reiatsu barrier so the seal formed on that just above his skin, and didn’t actually make contact. His speech to her afterwards was just metaphorical.

I had a great idea for making soifons bankai a little more interesting. It starts with soifon getting immediate awareness of every wasp mark she has ever made. This alone makes her one of the scariest bankai ever because this ability works across any distance and soifon immediately becomes a fly on the wall of any conversation.
Next is the cruise missile. While it can still be used like she currently uses it. She can now also lock it on to any mark she has ever made. The missile operate for years even if soifon releases her bankai, constantly looking for a way to deliver its payload.
This bankai is still not meant for soifons form of combat, instead it mirrors modern espianogue and assassination tactics.
Where I imagine this Bankai really shines is soifons ability to keep anyone in check because of the constant threat of a middle coming after you.
I was hoping Aizen's not dying from the poison was something like "The Hyogokyu has changed my physiology to the point that basic venoms has no effect on me. *Nice try little girl* ". Also, for Komomura, you can break out that fursuit we all know you own!

Like, he is not total shit because he can come up with interesting things(Espada was interesting and full of vibrant characters) but he ultimately fails to write proper character arcs and prolonged storylines(all of Espada die, the whole arc might've as well not happened, only female Espada was ruined with fanservice) Kinda like Naruto: a lot of potential but piss poor execution.

Her zanpaktou suits her personality. Shikai is her as stealthy always her first choice. Her bankai is her desire to accomplish her mission at all costs, regardless of her preferences, her allies or even herself the target WILL be killed.

However, her refusal to use her shikai unless an opponent is worthy is very anti-ninja, ninja cared very little for honour, their only goal was pretty much to get the job done, if they were tood to kill someone, they would use the best tool for the job every time
The way I always heard the thing with Aizen went down was basically the same thing Kenpachi did in his first fight with Ichigo where his superior reiatsu coats his body like armor so Suzumebachi couldn't pierce him for either hit, that always made sense to me though granted if that's the case it wasn't explained very well

Nah, the double sting landed, it pierced his flesh, left a mark and everything. Soi Fon didn't get hurt from striking Aizen the way Ichigo did from striking Kenpachi. The problem was Aizen outclassed her by what I imagine is one to four orders of magnitude in terms of spiritual pressure, so he just tanked the attack. Soi Fon's ability could be interpreted this way : So long as I'm fighting an enemy which is roughly my equal or weaker in raw spiritual pressure, I will kill them with two stings in the same spot. Hypothetically, if she'd managed to land anywhere from a hundred up to possibly ten thousand "double stings" on Aizen, it might finally overcome his spiritual pressure and kill him, but also we need to remember Aizen had the hyogoku, which was an immortality cheat code. At best, Soi Fon would just push Aizen to evolved into a stronger form in a manner similar to Gin's Bankai.
Ultimately, The Double Sting Certain Kill is her shikai release, which is considered at least 10 times weaker than a bankai, and everything scales with base power. Aizen was able to incapacitate four captains with a single slice of his unreleased sword. I repeat, he one-shots captain level shinigami without any need for a freaking shikai. My guess is, he could probably eat ten of Son Foi's bankai missiles to the face and come out of it completely unscathed. Aizen is just that broken. Even Yamamoto giving up an arm to unleash a supremely powerful point blank kido spell on Aizen barely left a scratch. It makes you wonder why he ever bothered with an elaborate plan to defeat soul society in the first place. The dude did just fine overcoming the gotei 13 on his own power. In my opinion, Kubo wrote himself into a corner with Aizen, which is why we got the Deus Ex Machina of Final Getsuga/Mugetsu, an attack that was specifically written in such a way as to defeat Aizen, yet leave our protagonist unable to unleash it ever again, so as to ensure a reset of the power creep.
In the end, Bleach never truly recovered from the mishandled resolution of Aizen's rebellion, with the anime adaption being abandoned soon afterwards. Many felt it should had been handled better, with more foreshadowing of Ichigo's potential to reach a level beyond bankai, that Aizen should have been weaker in overall power, but able to outwit his enemies more consistently as he often did in the earlier arcs, instead of playing the "My power level is so beyond yours I don't even care that you land this supposedly instant kill attack on me" card. What made Aizen work as a villain was a combination of wits, charm and power, but as we moved closer and closer to the climax of his story, wits and charm went out the window in favor of ultimate, completely broken power alone. Base Aizen alone, with just his Perfect Hypnosis ability, his well rounded shinigami training, his intellect, his ambition and his leadership ability drawing powerful hollows and even a few other captains to his side, was more than enough to serve as the main antagonistic force of the whole show. No further power creep was required, and having Aizen "forget" he has an nigh unbeatable shikai when it became clear Ichigo had turned the power creed tables on him was the greatest disservice his character ever got.
Better way to resolve the story : Aizen uses his Hollow army, not just a few select fractions and espadas, the whole freaking army he had to conduct a war of attrition. He also employs superior tactics based on his careful study of captain's sword releases, since he was able to spy on them with impunity over the past 100 years, and of course frequent abuse of his shikai as the deciding factor against the toughest opponents, reinforcing the idea that Ichigo is the only one with the potential to beat him. The war ends with Aizen victorious and completely overtaking soul society, forcing the survivors of the Gotei into exile or servitude. I like to think that at this point several other captains, such as Kenpachi and Son Foi, reluctantly join his side. In the meantime, Ichigo proceeds to blind himself, discover his Quincy heritage, and round up his training, preferably developing more than just "Getsuga freaking Tensho" as a viable attack, I mean the man never got to learn a single freaking kido spell in the actual series... wut? Then we get the OG gang of Rukia, Orihime, Chad and Ishida back together + surviving allied lieutenants and captains, all stronger than ever before to face Aizen and his Dark Soul Society for the final showdown of the series, during which Aizen finally reveals a totally freaking broken hyogoku + Soul King status amplified bankai where his sword creates a fourth realm (beyond Earth, Soul Society and Hueco Mundo), a realm of which the very physical laws allowed him to finally realize the full potential of the hyogoku, creating perfect Hollow/Shinigami hybrids. The catch? He had to give up the hyogoku itself to make this dimension manifest, so he's pretty much all in at this point.
And then Ichigo fucks him up real good, restores the peace, and goes home with Orihime (Or Rukia, or Yoruichi, or whoever's the favorite ship at this point really.) and learns to use his "Ultimate Secret Sword" that has the insanely broken power of life creation. The End.
Also Chad was my favorite character of all and you wasted him Kubo :D.

When Soi Fon was about to kill Aizen i think what he meant when he said that her attack wont work was that he could remove the marks before she can attack him twice because he had way more spirit energy compared to her. During the soul society arc she stated that her marks used to come off because she hadn’t yet masted it so i think that the marks are kido based so they can be removed if the difference between Soi Fon’s spirit energy and her opponent is too great.

Wow that's a lame ass way to keep aizen alive from the attack. The author pretty much telling the audience directly "individual abilities dont matter, only their power level number"
No, it's Kubo saying *OVERWHELMING POWER* trumps weaker abilities, which is something long established in Bleach: Kenpachi could stop most people from injuring him just by virtue of being so damn strong, even without consciously protecting himself and actively gimping himself. However, there's a caveat; having overwhelming power doesn't make you invincible, it just makes you harder to deal with. It's still possible to hurt someone like Kenpachi by simply focusing one's reiatsu more precisely, but on the flip side, they don't have to exert as much focus to hurt you. In Aizen's case, his reiatsu was so tremendous that he could force out foreign energies like the poison created by Soifon's Suzumebachi, as Aizen was many times stronger than an average Captain and Soifon was on the lower end of the spectrum, compensating her lack of raw power with speed and skill.
There's a certain rationale behind this that I've always had, but Kubo never really explained his own system beyond a few fancy terms and vague, inconsistent demonstrations of strength, so anything I come up with is just my own, never to be substantiated theories.
Brutalyte616 it makes sense they have to be relatively close to each other in terms of power to hurt each other the only shinigami that have the raw power to hurt Aizen are Yamamoto and Ichigo since soi-fon is more of a finesse and skill based fighter is was a bad match up for her I imagine she would do better against some other captains

Like maybe he already fully studied her zanpakuto and pumped himself full of an antidote he created or something. It'd still fit him and would be a cooler counter.
It just sucks to see such a cool zanpakuto get reduced to basic number crunching like that. At that point why even use the poison if higher power levels cancel it out? Just have a projectile thats easier to hit with and focus on raising your own power level.

The point(no pun intended) is that Aizen couldn't exert enough reiatsu to block the actual stab from Suzumebachi, but he understood the mechanics of it well enough to realize he just had to exert his reiatsu to overpower and neutralize the effect; it's the Bleach equivalent of getting bit by a black mamba and then flexing the venom out while the snake just stands there, dumbfounded by the absurdity of what it has just witnessed.

This isn't a foreign concept, it's actually pretty basic but comes down to how in depth the writer wants to take it. In Bleach everything is powered by Reiatsu, if a person's is significantly higher than their opponent's then it can be countered/ negated.
Remember when Ichigo couldn't cut Kenny, or Aizen's finger, or Grimmjow, or Ulquiorra, or BARELY cut Aizen even with his hollow mask. It's all about Reiatsu.
