  • 💭 I had a Triumph Rocket 3 R in my garage for an entire month. It was a blast to own Triumph Motorcycle's best engineering to date even if only for a short period of time. Here are my collective thoughts on what it's like to own a Rocket 3 R.

    I just bought a rocket 3, and I had never seen another one this color.... I called triumph gave them my vin number and they told me you have 1 of 1 in the world produced in that color for a TV show called the righteous gemstone.... I have a picture of John Goodman with my bike!!! I just bought it Wednesday with 1300 Miles on it!!!! I didn't know how I got so lucky! I couldn't even find this color on Google and that's why I called triumph for more info.

    Love my GT I have 37,000 miles plus on it now. Still smiling. I changed from the forward controls to the mid controls and I am much happier with that position. I cant control the bike any better but it is much much more comfortable riding position for me. With the forward controls you have to use your leg muscles on the pegs but with the mid controls gravity keeps your feet on the pegs. Just my two cents worth.

    I have a Rocket 3 GT triple black (limited edition). It is a gorgeous bike and everything you say it is and then some. I agree with you about the forward vs mid controls. I’ve ridden an R with mids and prefer the forward controls. I am not saying that’s better or trying to be right. That’s just what suits me. A couple of other things I prefer about the GT is the bars and the seat. The bars are more swept back on the GT and put you in a more comfortable position for longer cruiser like rides. The GT seat is also different. It is lower to the ground which I like. You feel like you are sitting in the Rocket rather than on it. It also is more comfortable for general riding and holds you firmly in place under hard acceleration. The GT comes with heated grips standard and a few other things. The heated grips are optional on the R. The R is a great bike and will be just the thing for many riders. I went to the Triumph dealer looking for an R and ended up getting a GT because of the forward controls, bars and seat. The least talked about but makes the biggest difference is the GT bars. They are perfect for me. The cool thing is the bars, foot controls and seats are all interchangeable between the R and GT models. I know a character with an R that switched to the GT seat. I also know of several GT riders that put mid controls on their GT. At least one switched them back. Interesting video. Not the normal format for you but I enjoyed it.

    I was wondering when the review was coming out haha. I have a R3 GT myself and it's damn near a do anything motorcycle, except ADV stuff lol. But everything from cruising long distance, commuting to and from work, city traffic, and being a hooligan with my sport bike friends (keeping up too in a straight line and corner carving), I've enjoyed every single mile I've put on in a years time and there's 12,000 of them so far.

I cant maneuver any better or anything but its a much more comfortable ride for me. I am doing an Iron Butt 1000 miles in a day challenge in two weeks and I know it will be much easier for me with the mid pegs.

    I've sold my 2021 R1 for a Rocket 3 R. Couldnt forget about it once I test rode one. Dealership was nice enough to loan it to me for like four days when I had my Speed Triple 955i (2001) in service. I'm definitly not a cruiser guy with my crotch rockets, and I also got to ride the GT version. Gave me lower back pain in like an hour, as with the R, I can ride that all day long. However, whatever flavour you pick, I'm pretty sure you wont be disappointed with it!

    My ex demo came with the Bluetooth module and the NAV and media controls are great and controllable off the handlebar, love my 3R 😎 definitely a heavy muscle sport naked cruiser thing…. The shift assist is awesome, full throttle up shift and downshift in Sport 😎 and they reckon they shaved 80kgs (176lbs) because the EuroV added 40kgs 😎 the torque is addictive but then after that every other bike feels gutless in the mid range.. including the Diavel 1260S which is a fast bike when you rev it out 👿 I would say the size of the bike would not suit a new rider, far better they learn balance on a smaller bike.. they will than appreciate Rocket even more. Glad you enjoyed dude 😎

The max horsepower from a lot of those bikes like the Diavel kicks in at very high rpm. The R3 already has 200Nm at roughly 2000rpm. That's fucking insane. You can cruise in the 4th gear at moderate speed but when you throtte it, it's like Hulk punches you in the back. Crazy.

    • @wolfgangsimon1509
      @wolfgangsimon1509 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There won't be a Gen3. What for?
      200hp from a 1700cc that weights 300kg (600lbs), 0-100 kph in 2.7s, no driving aids.
      Which of these figures do you want to top?
      Yamaha tested and calculated so many options and came to the conclusion that 1700 not 1800 or 2000 cc is the optimum.
      The Gen2 is the only bike in the 200hp class that comes without traction or wheelie control, without ride mode or other rookie stuff.
      All other bikes of that class need driving aids simply because the full power can't be handled with legal tires on public road.
      Even the mighty Rocket has its 220 Nm torque on paper only, it can't use that figure during acceleration, the wheel would spin. Even with the 170Nm of the VMax the wheel spins whenever you want.
      So, I repeat my question: which of the Gen2 figures could be significantly better?
      You see, there won't be a Gen3. Blessed those who got a Gen2.

I took a ride on the GT and I have to say and do not know why, I was not that comfortable after like 30 mins riding. I am 6'4", long legs and something was missing with my sitting position. Some bike have bottom end grunt and some have top end or midrange grunt. This rocket has full on grunt. Not grunt for miles or hours or days, but months on end! Quick question. When riding this motorcycle in the rain, will the back tire spin up all the water and mud on the back of your jacket and helmet due to the lack of rear guard to protect you from all the backsplash ?

    • @BrandonBicasso
      @BrandonBicasso  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah. The little mud guard on the rear tire catches that.

    • @markettradinggenius
      @markettradinggenius ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BrandonBicasso I had asked that question because several people 'claimed' that the they experienced 'mud splashes' because the rear guard isn't long enough to catch the water that splash upwardly. Another quick question I have, based on some research, is, have you ever experienced any "electrical issues" with your Triumph because Triumph is known to have electrical issues(from dead batteries, etc..ect..) on their bikes and even on the Rocket 3R/GT ?

  • @wanton1234

    I ride a rocker 3r, best bike ever... lol FYI I also ride a 2020 street glide with forward controls HOWEVER the floorboards are almost in the mid position. when riding I'm sitting flat footed like sitting in a chair. my feet directly under my knees. unless you have floorboards your feet will be on 'forward' on pegs. not really a fan of that. I also use a 'toe/heel' shifter. on the rocket 3r my feet are a bit behind my knees. and at 200 #s less than the street glide the rocket feels nimble and balanced. dirt roads on the rocker are good to go... went about a 1 mile down a dirt road yesterday. other than washboard crap it was no issue. I trust the rocket to do the right thing. the rocket is 0-60 in 2.73 second bike. and the thing is that the '2.73 second acceleration' is available at ANY SPEED under 90 mph, at any time.. the rocket is an intense bike if ya want it to be. no joke. I add a the Corbin fairing....

    My Grand America, ZH2 and KTM 1290 SAS have factory quick shift. I would not retro add it any of my other bikes. I just need to remember that they don't have QS on them. Of course, I just take the 'older' ones out to stretch their legs. I'm not sure if I'd buy a new bike without it, even when it's an $ option.
    Good review, when I'm in a Euro Bike shop, I'm always sniffing around the Rockets.
    Just yesterday, I saw a Rocket Trike at an RV park when I did a ride thru. In my area, these are usually 'older' people.

    • @BrandonBicasso
      @BrandonBicasso  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A Rocket trike. Now that’s interesting! The quick shifter would only cut the fuel off for retro fitting to older motorcycles. I’m more inclined to do it on the V-Rod than the 109. I don’t know if I trust the 109s gear box. I do clutchless upshift here and there though.

    • @SmittyAZ
      @SmittyAZ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BrandonBicasso I'm glad the M/C manufactures finally started adding QS instead of adding power commanders, air shifters, etc.
