I recycle a lot of denims. I like this pattern because it uses larger pieces which works well for me. I have neither time nor patience for fussy, tiny little bits and getting points just right, etc. I applaud those of you who can spend 2 years on a competition king size quilt and free motion like you were doing it in the womb. I will stand in awe of your work and walk away humbled. But i am grateful for simple patterns that allow me to build durable blankets that i quilt with straight lines and send out to our troops in the field. Thanks Misty for a great quilt!
All you Doan girls just keep coming up with great ideas for quilt tops. Like so many others, it's on my to do list. Thanks so much for sharing. Take care. Blessings to y'all.
My daughter wants a reversible quilt thanks for sharing
So many rude comments here, I can’t get over it. Wow. Thank you for sharing your ideas with us Misty, especially considering all your ideas are presented at no cost to anyone here. I appreciate all you do for us. Please don’t let the rude comments here get you down.
I don’t think the comments were intended to be rude. Just how you interpret them. 😊
Your ideas are unusual and fun❤
I would probably not purchase 108 with the intent of making this quilt, HOWEVER, I think this could be a great pattern for using up those scraps generated by 108 fabric. Thanks Misty! Keep being you, love the diversity in quilt ideas from MSQC!
That's what I was thinking, too!
Would be a good design to recycle old sheets or duvet covers.
I LOVE it.
Great for all of the leftover 108 fabrics. Hugs, Chel 🌸
Can you show the cutting? I know I am so used to cutting precuts, that yardages (especially 108) is a challenge!
Love the colors. I always look at 108 for backing. Thanks for the new idea.
Luv this quilt great job misty
I enjoyed this tutorial! I have several large leftover of wide backing that I can combine.
Loved the quilt! Like the modern lines and colors of it. I wish you had a video of how you cut it. 108” fabric is hard to maneuver, especially if you have a small cutting table. I’m too old to get down on the floor, I have to fold 42” fabric in half for it to fit on my cutting table. How many times would the 108” fabric need to be folded? Please, make a video on cutting the fabric for this quilt.
I like this quilt! I can imagine it with all kinds of center blocks!
Nice 108 fabric! Very Modern pattern.
Beautiful colors
Another great idea, thanks, Misty!
Love this fabric
I agree! Would have loved to see the cutting more than the sewing! I have never worked with 108” so I believe I could have learned some tips from this video! Still a pretty quilt though!
This would be cute with some of the Chick the Duck fabric added in.
Great video. I love it when you show another way to use your fabric.
Fast and pretty. Thanks
I absolutely LOVE modern quilts so please keep them coming Misty! Thanks for the free pattern. I agree the cutting diagrams have a flaw where some of the 1/2” seems to be missing, but I can easily figure that out. Another person noticed the spaces before the “ which indicates where it should read 1/2. That math works!
Great idea for a quilt, since it’s for a baby quilt I thought appliqué animals scattered around squares would look great Misty. Thank you for sharing!😊
Great quilt idea! Thanks!
We have a choice, janome !! The smoothest and quietest machine we have hesrd and seen! Viking is real good,
I love using 108 fabric. The cutting is easy. I see another quilt in my future. Thank you for the pattern.
Beautiful colors for the quilt. Great job Misty.!❤❤
I love these colors together💕
Thank you ❤️
That’s one big baby quilt!!
Agree
Yeah, but it would make a nice sized lap quilt.
That was really a neat quilt. Easy to do. Thsnks Misty.❤💙💜💛🤗
I love this quilt!
great use of fabric, how cool is this, thank you
🤩🤩🤩 Bellissimo
I see Tula’s 108 backing. 😊
Love it
Great idea and you can use larger scraps.
A cutting diagram for each color fabric would be super helpful. 😊
When you press your seams, do you use a dry iron?
I’m confused. If you sew a 12” piece to a 4” piece, isn’t the result 15-1/2”? But the cutting directions said the next piece was 15”. And that seemed to continue throughout. I can see the labels pinned to Misty’s pieces include the 1/2”.
I had the same thought. Unless using an uncommon seam allowance, you would need the extra half an inch.
Yeah, not sure what happened. Several times in the video we can see that some strips ended up a bit too long but she made it work. I would rip the 108” to get a straight of grain line, then use that as a guide for cutting everything else.
@@maryschiff9580 I noticed that, too.
I noticed that and wondered if she was going to address it, but she didn't.
Yeah, I sure didn't get the math on this. Also, the back is a different size, and it seems you would lose some of the design plan when you trim it depending on how well it was lined up for the quilting. Anyway, I'm confused.
❤❤👍👍👍👍👍👍
Is the thread count different on a 108” fabric than on a 44” quilt cotton?
Any way you could expand this for a queen size bed quilt?
I agree. The math is a bit perplexing😮
Can you use your walking foot as you’re sewing not only with quilting
Yes.
Can you show how to cut the 108. It's abit tricky..
Most people are NOT used to cutting large width fabric. Maybe instead of showing the sped up sewing, you should have shown how to cut the pieces.
All you have to do is fold the fabric.
She does a beautiful job
Actually on alot of MSQC tutorials it shows how to fold fabrics to cut so I think that could be applied to the 108" fabric as well.
I agree with @laris2328, info about cutting would be nice.
It would have been nice to show us how to fold and cut for these pieces because not all of us have a huge area to cut on
What up with all the rude comments on these videos lately? People seem to forget this content is provided free of charge and you’re not required to make the projects. If you don’t like the project, that’s fine but leaving a rude comment about something that someone likely spent many hours designing is entirely unnecessary.
Not rude. That’s just how you interpret it.
I appreciate the comments even if it is one where they don’t like it …I think MSQC appreciates it too so they know what their audience desires to see…they do a fine job of mixing it up
I went looking for the rude remarks and could not find any. Could you point one out??
I like the quarter foot on your machine where can I buy one for my baby lick machine
I think it is only for the Accomplish. Tried to get it for my Brilliant, won't work. Sorry.
Not something that I would give as a baby quilt, but as a throw or picnic quilt.
Want is 108
You are an so beautiful flexibel woman😂
I’ve never given a thumbs down to ANY MSQC video. But I had to on this one. Wide fabric is very expensive. I’m no expert like you, but the sizes shown on the screen don’t add up correctly. Even considering, or especially considering, the seam allowances. It appears to me that I would end up trimming and cussing a lot if I followed your directions. I apologize if I’m wrong.
not my favorite msqc video either, nor the quilt, which to me looks too basic to bother with. as far as 108 fabric though, i buy it as often as i can because it's usually the same, or more often cheaper.
there are 2.5 yards of 44" fabric in every yard of 108".
example: the fabric used in this quilt is 110" and costs $18.75/yard.
the most basic 44" kona solid on the msqc website is $7.48/yard.
$7.48×2.5= $18.70
same price.
Wow! A really fast quilt! I would probably do this in pastels or something more appropriate for a baby. Quilting this would be difficult for a newbie free motion quilter. Even stitching straight lines would be a challenge for a newbie.
I was thinking this would be a good use of the remnants I have of 108" after being used as backings.
@@nonya.bizness I think what she’s saying is that unless you go to a quilt store to buy it you probably can’t buy a quarter of a yard of 108 online
@@gailjernigan2482 It seems many baby quilts are in stronger colors lately. I guess it all depends on the mom's baby's room color scheme or favorite colors.
Not my favorite tutorial
Not my favorite tutorial either! It’s way too modern and uses 108” fabrics which are definitely much more expensive. I do not have a need for a baby quilt and is way too big and expensive to use for a charity quilt! I love MSQC and have been a customer for years plus watch all their videos but these videos just aren’t for me.
I have chosen at times to buy 108" fabric because if I need 3 yds of regular 44" wide, I could buy either 1 yd of 108" wide or 3 yds of 44" wide. I have found the 108" yardage would be cheaper. Compare for yourself to see if that works for the fabric you are choosing from. Also I shop on sale a lot. Maybe that is why it has worked.
Would need to buy too much fabric to make this. Fabric is expensive and the left overs not good for much due to the large scale.
Good try . But fabric is very expensive now and this size isn't in everyone's budget .not really my idea of a baby quilt more of an outside quilt. Hope you keep trying.
Meh
It looks like I’d have to buy a lot of extra fabric (can only buy .5 yds of 108 fabric from MSQ) in order to make this. Too expensive! I think I’d rather use leftovers from my stash. Cute quilt but not budget friendly.
i love all missouri star videos but this is the ugliest quilt i have ever seen....
