I was just in Japan last week & this video made me feel like I was right back at the Ichiran in Shinjuku, this was my breakfast the first day I arrived & it was incredibly tasty ! It would be a dream come true to go back to Japan & experience more of the country.
I rarely leave comments but I’d like to say that I was not in a great mood before I watched, and you genuinely turned my mood around you are so nice and joyful. Thanks :)
Looks delicious 😋 the way you were eating those noodles. Looks great the restaurant. That boiled egg is cooked just right. The environment looks quite and fast pace.
That is EXACTLY how I like my eggs cooked. They should be yolk just barely set and creamy- NOT hard and NOT runny. With a perfectly balanced broth.... Yummy... Something in my Jewish heart MUST be part Asian.
Once again thank you Mark! This Ichiran Ramen experience has brought back wonderful memories when I went to Japan for the first time. I love the ramen and the experience of the way they had the restaurant set up. I wish they will bring this chain restaurant to America. 👍👍😋😋❤️❤️
I am happiest when i see you enjoying ramen. fukuoka is the true mecca for ramen, thank you for sharing ichiran ramen. someday i will be able to trace your footsteps out there in fukuoka, Japan. i love ramen. Thank you! Vjet
I am Japanese. There are three type traditional noodles, Ramen, Udon, Soba in Japan. Especially, you can not see same Ramen in shops and Japan. Smell, taste and type of noodle is different between Ramen shops at all. Price is generally 3 - 12 dollars. Please try to look for your favorite Ramen in Japan without guide books. On the other hand, Udon and Soba are not seen in Ramen shops, so you should go to a soba or Udon specialty shop or general restaurant. Both are not expensive, 2 -10 dollars.
Love it. And the closing to your videos and so many other TH-camrs I can’t help but finish your thank you for watching without saying out loud “ah peeeeeace” you can thank Sonny for that Mark. It’s stuck in my head
@12:04 if you want to have a boiled egg like that, start out in cold water pan, have it heat up with the egg to boiling point, and from the boiling point it takes exactly 3 minutes 51 seconds, put under cold water right away and you will have a oozy yoke. medium sized eggs.
I had Ichiran Ramen in Tokyo and it truly was the best food experience I’ve ever had. This experience seems to encourage mindful eating and wow it’s at another level for sure!
Brilliant video introducing traveler ( s ) to the ramen pilgrimage in Fukuoka. Will be visiting next week and wonder if you would share your favourite 2 - 3 places to visit and eat , besides ramen, in Japan?
I’m excited. If They have a location in New York. I will one day be able to visit. Thanks for sharing Marc. It looks delicious. Can’t wait to try it.🙏🏽
M from India...i haven't tasted Japanese cuisine in my life yet...but the way you presented us is amazing now i will surely gonna order Japanese cuisine
Even though I am not much into ramen, i will give it a try. Kind of like the idea of self service in a small booth, not even need to speak japanese as all have been communicated by writing. How convenient and considerate!
i went to japan for the first time in my life 3 weeks ago. i also ate at ichiran in tokyo. and damn, i ordered 2 extra noodles and extra pork. so freakin gooooood. i told myself to NOT MISS ichiran while i was there.
Thanks for this style of video Mark. Really explainitive and helpful. Enjoyed it Mark. Yeah, ramen for the win, and one day I'll get to this place to try. 💯
i had to chance to go back to japan recently and also tried the original fukuoka store - i might be imagining things but i could swear it was even better than their tokyo ichiran stores
What I like about this restaurant in general is its modified & designed specifically for ramen lovers. The fact that the menu is basic & simple making ordering easy as possible for customers is genuinely calibrating the time factor. Also, the individual private booths helps diners feel more relaxed & focus on enjoying their dish exclusively. The service in Japan is very-well balanced allowing customers to experience each moment efficiently & satisfying. Thanks again Mark for another addition to your culinary legacy. Cheers 🍻 🍜 safe travels.
From what I've read, the booth idea for the founder of Ichiran was all about slurping. Apparently he thought that women were embarrassed to do it in public. Thus the booth idea. It makes sense since Japanese women don't even like to laugh when anyone can see their open mouths.
I can't believe it's the best in Japan when you get to choose the ingredients. I've had ramen at multiple locations in Japan and some of the very best are in unlikely places and only found after someone divulges the secret location.
When visiting Kyoto on a bus tour, we finally had free time in Kyoto. Blissfully, the internet allowed me to find Ichiran just off Nishiki market. Even as a western rube, I could figure out the vending machine, although an English speaking employee showed up outside just as I was finishing the order. The ramen was the best I've ever had. The most challenging aspect was the questionnaire asking how I liked my firm I wanted my noodle and how much spicy red sauce I wanted, etc. As a rube, I just checked everything down the middle. I wasn't disappointed. The booth thing was just amusing, not needed.
open 24h is insane, imagine stumbling out of a bar/club at 4am drunk, and having a bowl of this, that's gotta be heaven
Talking my language, bar, drunk, 4am, are we related?
People may say that ichiran is mid but eating it at 2am while starving gotta be the best feeling ever, 24hr shop made ramen is hard to beat.
New years 6 years ago in Hong Kong, I was messed up with some friends and left a house party at 4am to grab some ichiran. Hit different
Drinking is Haram

I waited 45 minutes to get Ichiran in NYC this weekend and it was well worth it! It's so good especially for a chain.
I’ve lived in Japan for a while and I can concur this is the hot spot. It’s so good I’d even recommend coming to Japan just for this place. So good!!
