This is not just a food & travel channel. This is a cultural documentary that makes me appreciate our planet and I will support this channel till I'm an old woman. 🥰🥰🥰
Miss Japan, I had a chance to stay in Okinawa, Japan for four years, amazing place and people. Japanese people are very polite and the country is very clean. Thank you for sharing, enjoy and be safe.
I just came back from Chiba, Japan. Japan is the most cleanest country. Japanese are nice and quiet. They are very obey. You won't see them eat or drink while they are walking. They won't jump in front of you when you are standing in the line. I love this country so much. I wish I could go to Japan more often. Too bad, I don't speak Japanese. I should learn the language so I can enjoy more because a lot of Japanese don't speak English but they can read Chinese.
Just returned from Japan. I love that they put pride in whatever they do. Can’t wait to visit again. Thank you for all you do, been a follower for years.
Wish I could visit. I’m 1/2 Japanese and never got a chance to go back with my 90 yr old mom. She just passed away 3 weeks ago and I really regret it now. One day…before I die…I’ll make it there!
Samurais never get extinted, they simply migrate to the kitchen. Now they use their spades to cut meat and vegetables. This chefs are real world Samurais and they use all their skills and discipline when the time to cook is on, they also apply all their Zen Budism knowlegde and techniques in all areas. Japan is simply magical, like they are from another world. A big thanks to you Mark, for helping all of us to know about this wonderfull things that often are hidden from most of us.
I'm so glad to see you enjoy travel in Japan!!! How was Shikansen (Bullet Train)? Was it comfortable enough? We usually call Bento on the train is EKIBEN. It's typical style Benton compare to other Bento we can have from convenience stores. Any way, Enjoy and safe your trip👍
There’s my buddy!!!!! I was waiting to see what part of earth that you would pop up on this time. This shooting was exceptionally educational and a delight to watch. You are simply the best.
I bought the one that was in the shop, it was the 16 courses, so they were in smaller squares than yours. i went for it because i wanted something different, it looked so colourful i couldnt resist. And i was surprised how delicious every bite was. Im going to Japan again in a couple weeks, so excited!!
i think it is overrated with small portions. Also 18 euros for this little amount of food..........As a tourist i think i would have saved the money for a real shop.
One day I pray to go all over Japan via bullet train. But I just fear the language barrier and getting soooo lost. I would be in extreme panic mode the full trip without a trusted and knowledgeable person to be with at all times. SMH I'm always holding myself back.
At 8:52, that was konnyakku, made from the konjac root. Supposedly a really nutritious food that has no calories! Like tofu, it takes the flavor of whatever it is prepared with. Acorn jelly is a Korean dish.
Just love the videos that you do, the different cultures and foods but I’m very partial to Asian foods and love Japanese foods! Japan is on my bucket list, only thing is I wouldn’t come back! California USA ❤ to you and the family.
one thing I've learned from marks videos this month is that japan has surprisingly reasonable food prices both restaurant and vending compared to my country canada. we're being overwhelmed by food costs grocery and restaurant wow that bento box ! its like its from a fantasy all the colours...
Oh my thoughts too. Canada here. 🇨🇦 Yet people still want to come here, a d I want to leave. The food in Japan looks so much better and prices wow. I could sell my house for over a million, move to Thailand or Japan and live like a king for the rest of my life. 😶
I know right. If I wanted a drink like that here in Australia you're looking at probably $5 - $6. A sandwich between $6 - $7, a packet of small chips easily $4
The bento food is so remarkably delicious and amazingly yummy…that’s a good experience….hope to go back for a visit soon…this video made me jealous 😟😟😟❤️❤️
Really enjoyed the video. I think there was a little icon on the vending machine which indicated the items in the silver bag needed to be heated. Keep up the great work Mark
Hi Mark, Arigato gozaimasu for another AWESOME video. Getting ready for our flight to Japan tomorrow so this video is another helpful video that is getting us REALLY EXCITED for our vacation 😁 Safe travels, good sir! P.S. All the items/food that you tried looks OISHI 😋🤤
Wow! I’m relieved I can get ekiben in Fukuoka as well. We have a trip from Fukuoka to Osaka and want to experience an ekiben while riding the shinkansen. But I thought ekibens were only a tokyo thing, thanks for this video Mark! 🤍
Hi Mark. Could you do a video on how you maintain your physique despite the great amount of time travelling and eating? Really curious on how you do it. I am sure the audience would want to know too 😊. 🥂 cheers!
I love Mark Wiens, but I know for a fact, Japanese mostly prefer silence and quietness when riding their subways/trains. I’ve ridden the Shinkansen before in Japan and that was my impression…
Not an opinion. I'm Japanese and it is an etiquette and a good manner to observe where on train. Also there are important train announcements people could miss when you're constantly talking on camera... He's a foreigner but he should have done a research if it's fine to record in shinkansen.
I work for a Japanese company amd have ridden the Shinkansen many times from Hiroshima to Tokyo. You are correct, it is assumed a very quiet ride by all
I understand cultures can be different and different things can be rude in different countries. But In my own personal opinion Japanese people can be overly uptight about many things, and even strait up judgmental about things like weight. It’s going to harm their tourism industry, I know because I’ve always wanted to travel to Japan because of its amazing culture (and food). But upon researching more I found that I would actually have a much happier time in South Korea or even Taiwan.
It's amazing from Japan 🇯🇵🗾 bullet train 🚅🛤️ with delicious bento sushi 🍣 and rice 🍚 meal very happy😊😅😂 but it was very sad weather ☹️😢😭⚡🌧️💧☔🌪️🌀 in Fukuoka Japan is the best and very nice! 🙂👍
@Mark,you came to Japan at good timing.Did you enjoy Sakura🌸?Try some Japanese cherry blossom flavor sweets. It's seasonal only in springtime and still available if you go to confectionary🍡🍵.
Thank you very much, unfortunately this was actually filmed a couple months ago, so I'm not there anymore, I wish I could have seen the cherry blossoms!
My gosh, bento box in Tokyo Daimaru is the best thing I have ever ate!!! Really life changing flavor. Horai 551 Gyoza originally from Osaka was amazing. Had 1 Keiseki Restaurant in Kyoto. Really expensive, but great experience and taste amazing. Atmosphere was amazing. Went to Tokyo TeamLab, Kyoto Imperial Palace, Yasaka Shinto Shrine, and Osaka Castle and gosh it was amazing. Fall color in Japan I saw at peak was amazing.
I was wondering if the vending machines in Japan offered hot beverages as well as cold beverages and your video answered that burning question with a definite yes. The bento 🍱 boxes looked delicious. I’d try both of them!
I am Japanese. Ekiben, lunch box eating in train, is unique japanese culture in the world, although we can see traveler eating sandwich and apple in train of Europe. There are a lot of and various Ekiben in the shops in a big station. Everyone eat them in train during a long travel. Nobody say complaint to person eating Ekiben in train. Price is 7-15 dollar generally.
I am a Taiwanese in US NY. I travelled to Japan many times. My children and me are missing Japan for a while. We love there.

Japan's arrest laws are ridiculous so that is why everyone is so well behaved. Don't make it out to be this perfect utopia.
Love the beauty of bento boxes in Japan.
Great review of several bentos available in the rail station.
I long to try this type of bento, full of variety to eat. So appealing and delicious
I wonder why that business model isn't being done here in the u.s. Like why do we have to travel, when it could be done here.
Just returned from Japan. I love that they put pride in whatever they do. Can’t wait to visit again.
Thank you for all you do, been a follower for years.
God bless you, Mark. Always stay safe while traveling.
That's like getting a Christmas present. I love that. I don't think I'd ever get tired of that.
