    I don’t see your videos as complaining I think they’re pretty helpful. I do think you say cons to which I appreciate a lot because I know you’re being honest and it’s much more helpful than just giving me positives things! Love your videos! Hope you’re recovering well!

    Thank you Elora! You are not a complainer at all. H8ers gonna h8 . I am a single momma of 3 boys. I have worked in healthcare for 18 years in admin. I was tired of working and not making a difference, along with the stresses of losing projects or hospitals cutting budgets and instability in the job market. I am going into one of the branches for reserve duty, helping with education and a much needed life-pivot. Your videos are incredibly helpful in dealing with the realities of of military life. Hope you are doing well. Keep the videos coming.

    You are my favorite youtuber on advice for the Air Force. You explain things in an honest and positive perspective. I've never seen it as you complaining. If anything your videos have helped prepare me mentally for BMT and the Air Force in general. So thank you very much, and please keep doing what you are doing. I swore into the DEP Program two weeks ago. And everytime I feel anxious about BMT I watch your videos. I hope you are recovering well. Don't push yourself too much. 💙💙💙

    I LOVE your videos!! It's so great to see someone give not only the good things, but the bad as well! I also think that you are a great example of how a female service member can be good at what she does while also not losing the feminine side of herself! I have been contemplating joining for awhile, but your videos are really helping!! I can't thank you enough!!

I guess I can say I'm looking for something more intense out of life that I can't get as a civilian. I decided to join the Air Force and I'm reaching out to a recruiter. I was stationed at Grand Forks and really enjoyed my time there, although I will say I have never had a bad assignment. Mainly because I have always went someplace with the attitude that I was going to be there awhile and I might as well enjoy it. There is plenty to do there all you have to do is find it. You should have a car by now travel site see. You have missile sites that you can visit, the pyramids up around Langdon, the peace gardens. Do hope that you will enjoy the base. Its mission has changed. I was there when the missile field was active and we had the bomb wing. Thank you for your service.

    I have always had a feeling that I should join the military since my freshman/sophomore year. I do know that I was struggling back and forth between the Army and Air Force but I feel like your videos and some research have helped me make up my decision. I am 21 right now. I have tried college, I am still at the same job that I had before graduating high school and feel like I haven't done anything with my life whatsoever so I am quite thankful for your videos helping me make my decision to join the military. Thank you so much.

    Thank you so much for this video! I’m currently 22 and I’ve done 4 years of college and got nowhere. I’m really considering joining the AF and have been in contact with a recruiter, but I’m so worried about being away from my family. We’re very close and I’ve never been away from them really..so I don’t even know how I’d handle that. And the running part for BMT. Ya girl can’t run. I feel like it’s a great option for me at this point in my life but it’s such a scary decision especially since I’m (a little older? gonna be 23 this year so when I’m out I’ll be 27) where time is such a factor. But anyway, I’ve been watching you religiously bc wow your makeup and wow you’re just an awesome person! 😊

      Amanda Escalera do it! If not your just gonna regret it! There is so many benefits and your gonna grow as a person. You have to get out of your comfort zone in order to grow! Most people are scared and afraid and have every excuse in the world. But if
      You want your life to truly change and be the person you want to be. Do it. There’s an urge in you person for a reason. Act on it!

      i'm not a recruiter but I do know that you can meet the minimum age requirements to become an officer and if you wait longer it will be harder. Like I told another girl here - your fear is only due to the fact that your big picture thinking is overshadowing your big picture rewards. Do it for your future self and you'll not be sorry.

    You can't do anything but appreciate your honesty. With how the world is today, no one gets to experience what it means to be a true, heartfelt individual. I sat here and watched the entire video without reaching for my phone, thinking about what I wanted to eat or anything else. I was locked in because you were truly giving your perspective from a place of love and honesty. I've gone back and forth with idea of the military for almost 7 years. I've gotten my bachelor's and now I teach. I'm currently applying to medical school. The choice to join shouldn't be taken lightly and it shows through how you speak about your own experiences. In all, it can be beneficial no matter what. I really hope your experience in the AF continues to help you grow for the better. You are a beautiful person, inside and out.

    Let's please be honest about the harassment and drama involved with being in the military as a young woman. Why doesn't anyone talk about this? Sidenote, I actually do believe that joining the military is a great "jumping off" point. I joined, got out and got contracted as a civilian. Because of my training (and because I chose a career field that doesn't have very many women) I now earn over 100k a year, get to travel, and do much less work/hours than that what I had to do in the military.

    • @EloraJean
      @EloraJean  6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Kelsey Dion I can’t comment on that topic because I nor any of my friends have experienced anything like that.

    • @shelbynicole948
      @shelbynicole948 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Which career field was that?

    • @chloencars
      @chloencars 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kelsey Dion I know that the harassment and drama could be annoying to most and even hurtful to some but I think Respect automatically comes to those who are in the military, ESPECIALLY women because it’s still unexpected. Yes they’re lots of women in the military but still much much more men so when a male veteran or just a regular civilian woman hears that you were in are in or sees it, it’s a great surprise that puts a smile on their face. That’s my opinion. I’m sure they’re is definitely mean people about it but I’ve yet to cross that bridge and when I do I know exactly what to say!

    • @kelseydion4334
      @kelseydion4334 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I'm speaking on the immense amount of sexual harassment and awful behaviour in the military from men to women that goes unnoticed or ignored. I'm talking about the large amount of rapes or sexual charges that get swept under the rug even to this day. I myself worked as a crew chief in the air force (if you're not familiar that's aircraft mechanic). But much like my career field, many trades have a high ratio of men to women (unless you're medical or personnel) and these instances happen frequently with little to no care to these young women. No mentorship, no support and continuous harassment that causes these women to feel isolated and afraid. If we want to ignore this ugly side that's your prerogative. Just because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen to others. So if you're not filled in enough to even speak on this a little bit, I don't think your much of an "expert " on what to look out for in the military.
      bottom line is this is an important subject that shouldn't be ignored. A message to young women thinking of joining the military: watch out for yourselves. Look after your fellow female teammates. Report things you see and don't be afraid to stand up for yourselves. People will try to tear you down the more you become weak so make sure you stand tall and strong. Also, try not to go to a lot of "outside" events with your male co-workers. They get bored and WILL talk about you, even if you are just going out to enjoy your life. This can ruin you, so just stick with the women or find civilian friends to go out with. That's the most I can say.

    As a single man, I've been trying to go into the military for the past seven years now. In addition to going into the military, the only thing that has stopped me was a big fear of not making a higher score on my ASVAB test. I now have a college degree and was wondering with my college degree can I move up into higher ranks while serving.

    These are the reasons why I want to enlist. Now I’m just focusing on getting physically fit for BMT. Question: so after enlisting and such, would it be easy to request time off? I have a concert ticket that was postponed cause of COVID and I don’t want to enlist yet because I don’t want to miss it (hard getting tickets and probably my only chance to see the band).

    I LOVE your channel and how honest you are about your thoughts! Keep doing you girl, cuz you've helped me out a lot. I'm going to be graduating with 2 bachelors degrees soon, and have been thinking about doing law school and joining JAG Corps, and it seems like the air force would be the branch I'm most interested in. Do you know anything about what its like doing that and being on base, and if there are any youtubers that talk about it? So far, I can't find anyone. Anyways, thanks so much :)

      Hey! I'm super glad you watch my channel and like my stuff :) I'm not sure what it's like being in legal, I do have a friend who works in the Airmen Defense Counsel, which I think is down the same path you'd be interested in. Living on base isn't my preference, especially where I live, but I know it's super convenient for other people! As for other TH-camrs...I don't really know!

    Hey Elora! I've been watching your videos and find them very enjoyable and informational. Although I am curious about how fast you achieved your rank due to the fact that I would like to have my animal with me ASAP. I know this isn't possible until you live out of the dorms, and to do that you need to be in a higher rank? I'm not in the AF but very interested and I would like to know how you achieved getting an animal as quickly as you did. Thank you and I love everything that you're doing!

    • @EloraJean
      @EloraJean  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I received Senior Airman at my 2.5 year mark, which is about average for people who need to rank up before moving out of the dorms. There are cases where you can move out early due to overcrowded dorms though, or other unusual circumstances. But on average, it takes about three years.

    Do you have any tips on the Asvab and study tips for ways to pass? Also are you able to go to school during active duty and if so how would you be able to accomplish this?

    • @EloraJean
      @EloraJean  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sooo I personally didn't study for the ASVAB, I took the practice test and was happy enough with the score I received so I was like whatevs lol. And you are able to go to school while active duty, you can totally get an online degree or sometimes even take classes in person that the base or local colleges offer.

    Great video Elora!! I’m really considering joining the USAF. I’m currently 21, got my associates degree, but right now I’m stuck. Not sure what to do now. College is ok, but I don’t believe it’s worth the money. I’m thinking about doing fire protection or a dental assistant. Those two, are things I think I’ll be able to do as a civilian, after active duty service.

    • @EloraJean
      @EloraJean  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sounds like a pretty good idea to me. A lot of people use the Air Force as an option to get a head start on life, which I think is super smart! Sounds like you have that goin on.

    Thank you for this video. I’m currently cutting weight to join. I’ve been thinking about it since I was in high school and now 10+ years later I am in a place in my life that I can do something about it. What is something you suggest that would help me on this new adventure? I have the motivation and drive I’m just scared of failing myself.

    • @EloraJean
      @EloraJean  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The thing I suggest is just ensuring you're considering ALL pros and cons! I think a mistake people make going in is assuming they'll have the best experience, get stationed overseas, have an exciting job, etc. If you go in with a realistic view, I think you will be less likely to be disappointed and more likely to enjoy your time. Especially when you realize it's such a short period of your life if you only sign for four years! Confidence is key!

    Thank you for your videos I am really considering talking to a recruiter about the Air Force but my only concern is that I have never been away from my family I was wondering what was your experience when you left for BMT and dealing with being separated from your family for the first time I would really appreciate any feedback you have I am currently 18 and going into my senior year of high school

    • @EloraJean
      @EloraJean  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So, it was all a bit surreal to be honest. Leaving my family didn't really hit me until once I made it to my first duty station. I suppose it really got to me after graduation, where I saw everyone for like two days, and then had to say goodbye again. I must say, being away from family is THE hardest thing for me. It's the main reason I'm considering switching to the guard or reserves to go back closer to where everyone is.

      You are absolutely allowed to travel! You can go outside of the United States as well. There are countries or provinces you're not allowed to go to but you can go to like 90% of the world haha.

    I saw your video on your eye surgery that was kind of provided by the AF, did you get the option for laser or do they just offer PRK?

    • @EloraJean
      @EloraJean  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When they do your eye exams they compare LASIK and PRK, and based off of my situation they said PRK would be best for me. It was paid for by the Air Force, yes.
