I met my husband while stationed in Korea, both in the army same company, same platoon. Dated got married, and now we are a veteran married couple for 4 years and counting... BTW I loved your story, and you were the person I watched before going to basic training you help me being less nervous to join the military!!!

You are so right about chemistry blinding you to red flags.
An important growing up lesson for all young people between the ages of 16 to 30 with peaking hormones. 😄
I lived this 15 years ago in a 5 year relationship. Red flags I missed were, her saying "you will never find anyone better than me", physical violence in her family, her saying, "don't smoke weed, let me be your addiction" and "I like you better when you wear this".
On the other side was all hugs, kisses and cuddles. When I had first heard about her mother running away from the house to a women's shelter because her father kept beating her but she always returned with her spirit broken I should have known... that's family to her. That's what she had to share with me, what was normal.
As a young man completely lost in love you just don't see it. I still wish her nothing but the best as it's merely something she was born into. It caused her to have PTSD (I didn't know what that was back then either).
Not sure why existence had created a situation so shitty for all involved. I do know that such traumatic levels of stress came into her family from a long line of military careers. That's life.
    Wisdom only comes with age.
    Lovely video.

Love this! I pray for many blessings on your marriage. I know the military has a bad stigma with marriage, but there ARE good and healthy and loving marriages. We've been going 16 years strong and love each other so much. Just wait until you all decide to have children (if you do decide to). You think you can't love someone anymore until they become a parent. Seeing my husband become a father just made me fall in love with him even more. We're OCONUS now, and this PCS was the hardest yet. But we grew so much as a family, and all we care about is our little family and that's it. And it's the absolute best feeling. He is my rock and I am his. I am so happy for you. God bless you and your husband!

Thanks for this Elora Jean, i've been following you since GF. I retired in 95 so I'm an old fart now, but a lot of the things you said about how the military treats its own are more related to the Air Force, and not the other services. I just can't see the USMC bending over backward for family members. Nice to see you back on here.

I think that may be true for some things, so you have a point. I also think some things may have improved since your time in service, but I can’t say I know much about the marines!

Definitely a rude move on my behalf but luckily my husband and I laugh about it now. If I could go back, I never would have stopped talking to him to begin with haha. We all grow from our mistakes.
