Fascinating. I had different results that were mostly positive. I too decided to take my Red Terror out for a spin after Turtle's video. I found it incredibly ammo efficient, with most kills only requiring a tight 2-3 round burst, if aimed-down-sights at the head/shoulders, or a couple of tight bursts aimed at the torso. I started with crafting 1500 rounds of ultracite ammunition and ended testing with 3000 rounds, all from contextual ammo drops and containers. My Heavy Gunner Build is Low-Health, and includes 1 perk rank each of the Heavy Gunner cards, Stabilized (in PA), One Gun Army, Adrenaline 3, as well as Max Ranks Take One For The Team. It was very easy to exceed 117 damage per shot with the high rate of fire, Furious, and these perks. I did not spray and pray with it, instead keeping all shots fired in tight controlled short bursts, and taking the ocassional extra second to line up efficient aiming. The control and light recoil make the weapon very accurate, and I am not even what I consider to be a great manual-aimed shooter, as I primarily play VATS builds. Where this weapon failed for me was taking it to any of the nuclear boss fights. The bosses are simply too high-health spongey for this weapon to maintain its advantage, and it rapidly became ammo inefficient when facing bosses. It is however, EXTREMELY efficient and fast in precision fire against mob spawns. So I am keeping the Red Terror in my carry inventory for when I am in heavy Gunner mode, need a precision non-splash heavy weapon, and want to maintain consistent ammo efficiency on mob spawns, particularly for areas where there might be 'friendlies' that would aggro if hit with splash damage. I definitely give it high marks, even if it does not seem to be a G-Roll. It's highly synergetic, and ammo-efficient for 99% of the killing you'll do.
It would be cool if they added a Unique variant of the Dragon. For example: The Hydra, Named after the multi-headed Dragon/Serpent of Greek mythology. Instead of taking 50 Caliber balls as Ammo, it takes a .308 ammo instead, Which would be possible with the Hydra Having Wider Barrels.
That would be cool, but most enemies have too high poison resist. Try the kabloom, the poison doesn't do much except to low level scorched and super mutants.
The only thing I dislike about this gun is aiming. Final Word is great: as you aim, the crosshair narrows, FOV changes, but that's it. The target is not covered by the sights. With Red Terror, the target is partly obscured by the sights (ok, fair - as it should be), which makes it ever-so-slightly more annoying to use once you've gotten as used to Final Word as I have.
If you are comparing it to the Final Word, as long as you are using power armor and have the Stabilized perk card, heavy guns with Anti Armor are not very good because this card gives you 45% armor pen automatically. Running this is like having Anti Armor baked into every heavy weapon by default, so it's not good to have an Anti Armor heavy gun when you can have all the benefits of Anti Armor and another powerful effect like Bloodied or Furious or Quad or Two Shot in that first star slot. Which is why I don't like Anti Armor heavy guns. Because of this single card, you will never be able to get the DPS out of an Anti Armor heavy weapon that you could out of another decent first star heavy. And so I'm always going to say the Final Word is extremely over-rated and the Red Terror puts it to shame.
@@AngryTurtle Absolutely correct. But I would rather have 45% of nearly double damage getting through (bloodied) than 70% of half that getting through. (Isn't it 70, not 72? 45 + 50 /2 = 70). If I'm off it's still only a 2% difference. Say we are doing 200 damage with 70% Armor piercing. That's 140 damage getting through. Then that same 200 damage boosted by 95% by Bloodied (390) with 45% of it getting through armor = 176 damage (Edging up on nearly 50 more damage per shot). The higher the base damage you do, or the lower an enemy's armor, the less that 70% Armor Pen matters and the more the 45% plus another good effect is better. There is a case to be made against enemies with very high armor, though. And those are mostly bosses which have some kind of straight damage percentage reduction beyond armor. So again, that inherent percentage damage reduction makes it better to have higher base damage and 45% Armor Pen than much lower base damage and 70-72% Armor Pen. And it seems to work that way in practice for me at boss fights and general mob killing.

I got a Quad Alien Blaster and the new Tesla Rifle from the event and I have both Red Terror Paints for the LMG (I don't know why or where I got the paints)🤣
I noticed that I can apply both paint from the red terror on normal light Machine gun. Is this intentional or an bug? If not time to get some more LM then 😜
i am a full health pa heavy gunner and i use final word and holy fire almost exclusively but i love red terror when i got it! but i am struggling to keep my 308 ammo stock high.
A lot of heavy and commando weapons generally don't give out more ammo than you use in the normal over world. Mainly only get surplus in daily ops and expeditions. I think the heavy weapons that tend give surplus normally is.. flamers, cremators, gatling guns, oddly enough both kinds of gatling lasers, gatling plasma and plasma caster. Those guns are fairly difficult to run out of ammo on if you aren't spraying and praying randomly.
@Junkzillabox yeah plasma caster gives so much ammo back it's stupid one or two shots to kill most enemies even lvl 100 super mutants and 12-20 ammo on pick up .
I played the event for a couple of times but i still haven't gotten it yet, it's the one legendary gun I want since I don't have the resources to roll many legendary LMGs to get a good one.
I have done the event at least 20 times and just last night I got the v63 Bertha Tesla rifle I bought a red terror though because I'm always at max caps . Spent 8k on it turned my shop back on and 5 minutes later back at max caps .
I can't get into bloodied. Not my play style. Been full health since I started. Currently a flamer build with three cremators and a holy fire. I used the 50 cal for a while, but I actually ran out of steel making ammo1
The game let me apply the red terror skins to a random LMG that I rolled the same day as the patch, had me confused since I didn't remember getting those skins, guess it was a bug.
Furious should stack up higher than 45% in my opinion. If it were 100%, let’s say, it’d be a legit option for boss killing. We need more viable options to dethrone Bloodied / Quad.

My first thought is that if you had 4 different Endangerol syringers, you could drop the ballistic defense of those robots to virtually nothing, and then absolutely destroy them with most combat rifles or heavy weapons.
TBH not really impressed. I was running with Aristocrats Flamer and this thing is chewing through enemies like through paper. My main issue with REd Terror is that you always run out of bullets, thing that's is not common with final word.
You have to upgrade it to prime purely because ultracite .308 is far more economical than regular .308. Regular .308 is considered rifle ammo and so you make tiny amounts per batch compared to .50 (which makes no sense but is what it is) but making ultracite .308 you actually make decent amounts per craft.
You can pick up about 400+ rounds at the new BOS camp near Vault 76. I always go there for free ammo when I test guns out. Also Blue Mountain Pit Stop, and Son of Dan Compound (more annoying because of ghouls).

72% is better than 45%
@@AngryTurtle Absolutely correct.
And it seems to work that way in practice for me at boss fights and general mob killing.

i know it has nothing to do with de video but did they remove the armor piercing receiver from the EM? i can't craft it for some reason
I've already gotten this weapon to drop 4 times, does it really drop that often or was I just lucky?
I have done the event at least 20 times and no drop just got the Bertha Tesla rifle last night but only one time.
@@bishbosh7728 yeah I wasn't sure if I should sell them in my vendor or just scrip them. If they are rare I'd rather sell them to other players.
@@evandipasquale9255 my dupes sell pretty quickly and I was hopping around camps trying to buy up the new legendaries that I was still missing, definitely worth more than scripping them right now
Just like any other event item.. the downside is that any lower levels using them probably won't be able keep up with sustaining the ammo.. and any high level that can sustain the ammo usage would prefer using something else more efficient..
@@Junkzillabox yeah I tried using an lmg for a little bit but it just burns through ammo and I was crafting everytime I was playing.
Red terror, Helga, and BERTHA have all sold multiple times for 7k-9k caps
I like the paint but that's it. The roll seems okay but if there's multiple enemies or you miss and hit something else you lose the furious buff. I have a AA FFR RS LMG so I'll stick with that for my lazy heavy gunner.
I think most players are addicted to running meta and dont realize video games is meant to have fun and fallout is one of the easiest games out their but very fun so running guns like this is ok lol
It's probably my new favourite prefixed gun in the game. (I love LMGs).
I had that drop but scriped it...oh well im sure it will drio again 9:37
It would be nice if they allowed you to keep casing like fallout new Vegas so you could save resources when making ammo.
I have a Mg42 with double shot and +25 fire rate, is it any good?
Now you can also apply red terror skins for other lmg
I wish they would increase the yield of .308 crafting.
Run around with a gatling get 1000s of ammo back, stick it in the ammo converter.. use the lmg.. rinse repeat.. this lmg seems more accurate.. you wont got through it as fast
Indeed a beast. My friend told me it will get the job done, but holy fuck its so strong. Especially against bosses.
Much stronger than my final word 50cal.
Is this considered a heavy gun or should i be using the commando perks
heavy
i'm using this as a side arm for my bloodied cremator and it still kicks ass even with the twisted muscle mutation.
Bro did anyone ever tell you that you sound like Borat? 😂 “Great Success!”
Looks like an MG42 which actually should have a capacity of 250 in 5 50 round belts.
I have been playing the new event over 20 times and no new weapons drop for me. Is there a trick?
Does third-person "aiming" still count towards aiming?
Yes.
If not time to get some more LM then 😜
Free skins is the best thing about this gun.
i got it on my first try, and it's actually very cool!
it's great to see some decent weapons for new players and some nice ones for vets too. 😁
Thanks Turtle! At least one new weapon from the update worth adding to my player.
I just find it funny they used a ww2 German designed weapon for a Soviet skin...
Chinese, which makes sense since historically the Chinese had and used WW2 German equipment during the Japanese invasion and so on
i am a full health pa heavy gunner and i use final word and holy fire almost exclusively but i love red terror when i got it! but i am struggling to keep my 308 ammo stock high.
What’s the drop rate?
Question would this still be good if I am a junkie build.?
yes
Can you keep your ammo toped while using it though with ammo perks? I remember the Gauss Mini hardly gave any ammo return.
If you go for head shots it's close but you still lose ammo you do gain ammo in daily ops and expeditions though.
How? Mobs drop about twice the ammo that it will cost to kill them. Do you miss that many of your shots?
I got a handmade from that event
I’ve noticed the lost drop handmades, that really helps to try and roll multiple 3 stars
Want!
My explosive mg42 carried me from lvl30 and beyond.
I can't get into bloodied. Not my play style. Been full health since I started. Currently a flamer build with three cremators and a holy fire. I used the 50 cal for a while, but I actually ran out of steel making ammo1
Hey turtle what would you say to a capital wasteland expedition with a free roam map?
cool
Just got this yesterday, going to have to try it
I know it's early to ask, but will you go Ghoul next year Turtle?
The game let me apply the red terror skins to a random LMG that I rolled the same day as the patch, had me confused since I didn't remember getting those skins, guess it was a bug.
i can paint my lmg but never had the red terror as a reward? anyone knows if thats normal?
Its not really just full health builds that can use it my base damage as a bloody build is 119 vs 71 for full health nearly double the damage.
This gun is not half bad i tested it on different enemies its pretty effective i think its ok i do mow them down quickly.
Furious should stack up higher than 45% in my opinion. If it were 100%, let’s say, it’d be a legit option for boss killing. We need more viable options to dethrone Bloodied / Quad.
Just got this! Excited to try it 👍
It makes me happy to know Borat plays the same game as me!!
The best thing about this weapon is you get to put its skins on a real LMG (AAE, BE, QE, or even VE).
turtle i need your thoughts, today on neurological warfare, some guys ( i think it was 2) downed the first bot within 10 seconds and the last 2 i would say within 20 seconds....how the actual hell ? dont get me wrong iam not complaining but, what on gods earth did they use/stack for that
My first thought is that if you had 4 different Endangerol syringers, you could drop the ballistic defense of those robots to virtually nothing, and then absolutely destroy them with most combat rifles or heavy weapons.
@@Kevlin0069 hm, i think i give this a try, thanks
can't wait for review on V63-HELGA
TBH not really impressed. I was running with Aristocrats Flamer and this thing is chewing through enemies like through paper. My main issue with REd Terror is that you always run out of bullets, thing that's is not common with final word.
Got two of them so far, I don't use it though too heavy and too demanding on ammo thats not the easiest to get.
How do you get such great drops? I’ve done this event at least 20 times and haven’t gotten any unique weapons yet.
This person had one for 20,000 I only had 13,000 so I asked if he would take my 13 and all my Nuka Quantums and now I own a Green Terror!🙏🙏🙏
Ah man at least you got one, I got mine from a young vendor, it was his only weapon for sale 500 caps, I snapped it up..
This eats sooooo much ammo! I had to get a camp with acid and lead, whereas this was nit necessary for Final Word.
@@viysnjor4811 thank you!
You can pick up about 400+ rounds at the new BOS camp near Vault 76. I always go there for free ammo when I test guns out. Also Blue Mountain Pit Stop, and Son of Dan Compound (more annoying because of ghouls).
Something I noticed how are you activating the trigger on the ultracite 50 cal??? From the way it looks you can’t hold the handle and operate the trigger???? Pinky finger maybe!!???? I know it’s a game but saw it and wondered how!?!??😮
yeah realistically you'd need to rig some kind of trigger mechanism on the handle itself to push downwards onto the trigger pad of the actual weapon
I just wanna get the red and green terror paints on my current LMG
I got this drop yesterday, better that more Berthas.
Just got this today. Gotta admit, it's a lot of fun!
How much are you pricing this in your vending machine?
I wish it was 25 weapon speed instead of aim damage
i just got the gatling laser from the robot boss. now the only thing i don't have is anchorage
Got a furious .50 cal with reload speed and minus 90 percent weight
I'd like to see that roll considering reduced weight and reload speed override each other, since they occupy the same 3rd star tier.
@Junkzillabox ah! I could double check it and screen shot it. The -90% is definitely one of the perks. Other perk might actually be crit dmg?
Why do you not have Ogua shell backpack, Mr Turtle?
is the LMG better than the 50 cal?
yes only a slight margin but yes
These can be re-rolled?
