1:58 the Gatling gun is insane, I started using it with 2000 ammo and after a few days of using it exclusively I had 70,000 5mm in my stash. Absolutely prints ammo
i got a 2 shot double ammo capacity gatling last night for free from a vendor bc I bought a ton of his serums for 500 each.. it rips and youre right. I started with 1000 ammo and had 4k before I went to bed and only used it for a couple hours max.. it hits hard too and thats without a single perk card on it
Yes, nothing screams ammo efficiency like the Gatling gun. I pair it with a vampire mini gun with shredder mod, which uses the same ammo type but is not at all ammo-efficient. However, this gun keeps me alive in general. One time, I ended up being the only high level guy around to fight the SBQ, and although I brought a bunch of ammo, I still ended up using it all up. I had to resort to a melee weapon that I happened to have on hand. After that fight, I added the shredder mod to the mini gun, just in case that ever happens again.
Looting dead enemies for ammo is not contextual to the weapon you’re holding. It’s contextual to the weapon you killed them with. Kill an enemy with a 10mm, then switch to a .45 weapon before you inspect the dead enemy. You’ll only see ammo for the weapon you used to kill it (10mm), if at all. Looting containers is contextual to the weapon you’re holding at the time you entered the proximity of the container. Walk up to a container holding a 10mm, then switch to a shotgun before opening the container. More than likely you’ll still get 10mm ammo, not shotgun ammo.
@ragtop63 not only are you wrong, but it only takes like 15 minutes to test it using a cremator and another weapon. If you time the switch you make ammo for the other gun.
@@oathtaker_dg You must be confused because what @ragtop63 is saying is absolutely correct. I've tested it myself and it has nothing to do with timing. It's a built in mechanic that proximity discovers your world. I don't know what you're doing but you're definitely not talking about the same thing here.

This is a good guide for new players, but I would definitely tell anyone in need of ammo to simply run daily ops. You don't need to complete it, killing enemies usually gives you 3x what you used to kill em, its amazing for keeping my cremator stocked
For copper, the Chinese ornamental vase, a lot of those at the palace and some in the whitespring train station. Cooking/stew pots. Anywhere you can find a kitchen/cafeteria. Some notable locations being the big cultist house at the northwest of the map (also a good location for Crystal) and whitespring golf club. Hot plates have copper and are often found in kitchen areas as well. Lamps, phones and light bulbs. Locations, valley galleria and the prison. Mine suit filter from mole miners. It's the rarest mole miner junk item, but if you're in a position to drop a nuke, hit the titan for all the mole miner spawns. Acetone canisters (not the crushed variant, for whatever reason). Blackwater mine and sons of dane compound. These are the ones i know off the top of my head. Highly HIGHLY recommend getting a camp (or even a couple in case your spot is taken) with a lead extractor. I set one up, hit lucky hole mine like twice and have never had to farm lead again, since like level 200 (1360 now). It will only fill up to 14, but as long as you keep collecting it, you should be self sustaining after a little bit. I have like 70k lead now and I'd say like 97% of that is from my camp extractor
Also if you plan on getting excavator. Do the fire breathers quest first , inside of belching Betty mine where the final exam takes place there is black titanium ore that will help with crafting the excavator
In between ther rusty pic an nuka world is a gr8 mine callers Kittery if you see a .camp on top chance is it goes under the map so you can glicth in with photo mode
FO1st and loot everything, scrap it and scrap box. I rarely run out of any scrap. I have over 11000 lead scrap in my scrap box currently, I don’t think I’ve made any ammo in months still using up 30,000 .45, and .556 I made months ago. A lot of people think FO1st is a waste, but I think you get a lot of bang for your buck!!!
Collecting Ammo from the Vault 76 area is my go to. I include the Brotherhood outpost to the South, Forward Station Tango. I get hundreds of rounds when looting this way. Its a fantastic why to top up on ammo. Ensure you have the scrounger perk equipped (found in luck). Additionally there are ammo efficient weapons and “fun” weapons that we use. For example Gatlin Gun (5mm) is my go-to, by downing low level scorch. Head shots make it even more efficient. Where as my Minigun (5mm) eats those thousands of rounds I farm. The Gatling gun for 5mm, Plasma Caster for plasma cartridge, Holy Fire for fuel, and Gauss pistol for 2mm all seem to give me more than I use. Although Holy Fire and Gauss pistol are easy to over use. Curious if anyone else has a ammo efficient weapon.
Definitely awesome video , also I'd say prepare for your build early game , I ran with a hunting rifle i modified at level 13 with a 50 cal receiver plan from an npc vendor by the time I hit level 25 ish I had 7k 50 cal. I don't use the level 20 start I just really don't like the load outs but thats my personal opinion. Great job again sir
The event at Morgantown airport, where you kill the scorched… the chest the drone drops contains 100 pre-war money. One of the best cloth spots in the game.
Mr. Wiggle, another good strategy is to equip the weapon you want the ammo for and fast travel to RobCo. On the road all those dead robots will have your ammo and lots of other good scrap.
And you can also write a note in marquee lettering on your camp that you need ammo and people will just dump it there for you :D Worked for me when I was low level and needed 40mm
I switched over to the prime ultracite rifle recently, and instead of crafting ammo, I've been running the first expedition in Atlantic city solo using a flamer, and switching to my ultracite before getting on the vertibird to get like 80 to 120 cells each time. Then converting the flamer fuel over to fusion cells for my other Laser guns. Plus, good way to farm 4 to 6 legendaries at a time
The most sensational game expedition is by far the best technique to get ammo, the reason being enemies drop usually 30-40 of the ammo you use each (core ammo types is an exception). To do it best I suggest you create your own expedition team so you can be the leader and dictate the pace, that'll allow you to loot everything you need without being moved to the next area by another player. I also suggest you to start every expedition with a light inventory, so you can "take all" quickly on clusters of dead enemies (R key (nearby corpses) - R key (take all)). Pay attention that these carry missiles often so don't forget to dump them afterwards or sell them into an ammo converter. With expeditions you get legendary modules, scrip, stamps, legendaries to scrip (or sometimes even keep), crazy amounts of stimpaks and fairly good xp. I may even try to farm xp next season with this instead of west tek. Now when I try a new weapon with ammo I don't have at all (prime usually) I always do a single run of the ammo boxes near vault 76 and then move on to an expedition or daily ops. All in all, crafiting ammo is dead and useless once you do these. The only exception is possibly crafting railway spikes (only steel needed) to feed the ammo converter with it, it's very good to get fuel when you run out. Usually my ammo converter sits at max points nearly all the time. But outside of fuel prime ammo is a must and will never be a problem as long as you do a few expeditions here and there.
The actual fist step to ammo is taking 3 perk cards in luck for the scrounger perk card. At 3rd rank you get 80%. This is by far the biggest impact any one thing can have. All other things you said is good but this is top IMO
I'm constantly running out of 308 ammo...I've bought from player vendors and made ammo then go do 2 events and I run out of ammo....so thank you for all the tips in the video
If you don't wanna mine Lead ore the route I take is Vault 51, Eastern Regional Penitentiary, Green County Lodge, The Kill Box, and Firebreathers HQ all have free weights which yield the most lead.
If my math is correct, I can convert 6,300 steel into 4,500 rr spikes, trade those for 15,000 ammo points, and use those to buy 1,200 rounds of .45 ammo. Using the rank 2 Ammosmith perk but not the Ammo Factory legendary perk.
True, but the Ammo Factory and Ammosmith perks should work on the first step, crafting the RR Spikes from steel. That should result in a better yield of .45 ammo.
Im currently doing this and wondering if its worth it, my fixer is the only thing that keeps me alive and im using my railway ammo to try and rack up 15k currently farming steel
Having to "farm" for ammo to allow you to do PVE content otherwise you're stuck is so bad. Even if there is multiple way to make ammo. There is still a ~1h downtime where you need to fill back up your reserve. Running the gatling gun fixed that. The whole ammo situation came from the PVP system in the game where they wanted player to be mindful about that ressource and not raid everyone whenever they wanted. They needed to plan for it.
To get my ammo I buy every steel bulks I can or I get my steel by scrapping every gun in Westek runs and I use that steel to craft railway spikes. Then i convert them to 40mm or fuel which are the only 2 ammo I currently use. Takes a little bit of time but if you're prepared it's worth it.
In my experience, Bethesda increased the amount of ammo you can find on enemies and in containers. So all I do is using Scrounger Perk Card. Maybe it is not enough for Miniguns or other weapons that eat ammunition. But for Enclave Plasma Flamer or Fixer it is more than enough your amount of ammunition during general gameplay sessions.
Use a gauss rifle to one tap ammo dropping creatures, you'll get more back than you use. It'll be slow, but you can kill and loot like normal and still gain daka power.
I have a collectron that collects ore for me so i always have lead, my issue is keeping in acid to smelt. Even with the butterfly sanctuary at my camp, im always low on acid.
Level 400+, I STILL pick up everything if I am not encumbered. I farm scorched for ammo, weapons, and armor for dailies. One of my alts can't generate enough ammo as a sneaky commando so just gave in to the railway rifle life. Crafting ultracite ammo is crazy. Also I have started new ultracite weapons by just running around with the empty weapon and loot ammo boxes. Generally I will switch weapons before getting to close to the containers if I had to shoot something first. I make sure to loot or pick up a few things before I loot the containers. Better chance of the contextual ammo being what weapon I have in my hands vs what I spawned with in the area. Didn't know about the chimes not being on the item list count, interesting.
i used to convert 2 empty fusion cores intoi 12-15 120% ultracite cores that gives 1200 rounds for gatling laser with the perk card. and u can use those to power ur PA too. but easiest way is to use gatling gun or minigun. 50 cal with bloodied can also give more ammo than spend.
Two thing. Firstly there are two 255 lists in fallout 76. One for individual items and the other for containers. So picking up individual items will not necessarily clear the containers list. Secondly you missed an way to maintain you ammo supply, is to use a melee weapon at least some of the time. I would suggest either the auto axe or chainsaw.
if an item never respawns on a server after you pick it up, and there are a finite number of servers, could you theoretically run out of things to pick up?
When you leave a server and join another, the original server resets for your character. If you were to go back to the original server, it would be like you were there for the first time.
I always do the daily op with the plasma caster and I always leave with 5000+ cartridges, then I take them to the ammo converter 3000 carts for 7000 points
Honestly I took a break from 76 after a disastrous queen hunt. I just spaffed all my 308, most of my flamer and cryo fuel and most of my plasma at it and jeez I don't know how it survived. I think it must have been bugged or something because there was most of the server there just absolutely streaming it with lead and plasma for the whole event. I think I went down for like 8000 assorted rounds to like 2500 between ammo my guns. It was just dreadful. So now I need to speedily recoup my ammo and I've just lost my drive to play because grind fatigue.
If I need copper for for energy weapons they are a bunch of coppering mining nods in ash heap which after I smelt them I get 142 copper for one run takes about a hour or so you can find a guide for a farming run that shows where they all are
Explosive build & grand finale in an expedition or daily op, then convert cannonballs to other ammo. Use 2-3 cannonballs to kill an enemy, get 10-12 back
You never need to craft ammo imo. Daily ops or expeditions. I get so much ammo that I throw it away because it starts getting heavy. Quck and easy to farm a lot.
I just came back to 76 after quitting after launch due to the horrifying bugs/glitches/drama etc, and I have to say, the game feels like a much much better experience now, and I might be hooked on it.
Its disgusting that they made it so you never have enough ammo. Greedy BS. Fyck this game. They literally made the game a chore to play. Imagine purposely making everything decay and bullets no matter and upgrades are BS you use the same amount of ammo to kill when leveling.
I mean I could understand that if it were still near the beginning of the game's life, but now ammo is like stupid easy to get in multiple ways. I didn't know they had added in contextual ammo drops in the open world and now I'm getting a LOT of 2mm XD.

Use 2-3 cannonballs to kill an enemy, get 10-12 back
Alternatively if you make a .50 cal sniper rifle you can collect so much ammo using 1 shot kill headshots
And you can get the copper and iron nodes in your camp.
Lucky Hole mine is good for gatling gun drop usually😉
The large cooking pots have copper or the stew pots i cant remember which one and the light house suvineirs have copper
I had ammo issues until I finally rolled my bloody railway rifle 😂
I carry a Holy Fire, Fixer, Cremator, Gatling Plasma and a Chainsaw. 😂
You are very strong to carry all of that around.
Thats why I had no guns until i found out i like Plasma Getlinggs xD my main is 2handed
Another tip: Be a Cowboy and use single shot weapons.
Didn't know component view was a thing lol
Same, 300 hours and still learning new things
You never need to craft ammo imo. Daily ops or expeditions. I get so much ammo that I throw it away because it starts getting heavy. Quck and easy to farm a lot.
Or do some trades for bulk Steel, Lead, Acid, & cloth. Then craft 1m or so and it'll last ya a whole season
WTF is "do some trades for bulk"?
fuel for the cremator is tricky
Picking up dirty water resets yout items list. True story...
I just came back to 76 after quitting after launch due to the horrifying bugs/glitches/drama etc, and I have to say, the game feels like a much much better experience now, and I might be hooked on it.
Dude mine Kittery near the rusty pic billed under ma photo glitch in all run Round get footlokers
I do a melee build
Copper junk, try the lighthouse. Bottom of stairs entrance. Need crystal junk, try cultist location Clancy manor. 👍👏
Best way to conserve ammo is go Chainsaw lol
My ammo is always gone. And this is no problem anyway. Bq i am running away from all npc and players ore die.
The key to ammo efficiency is 1)high damage build/rolls, 2) aim better.
Ive gotten like 20000 fuel from 10ish boardwalks
It's the reset house
Short answer melee
Use melee..
.
Its disgusting that they made it so you never have enough ammo. Greedy BS. Fyck this game. They literally made the game a chore to play. Imagine purposely making everything decay and bullets no matter and upgrades are BS you use the same amount of ammo to kill when leveling.
I haven't run out of ammo since i was like level 30
@@beastabuelos6421 right! I didn't know running out of ammo was a thing in this game...😂
I mean I could understand that if it were still near the beginning of the game's life, but now ammo is like stupid easy to get in multiple ways. I didn't know they had added in contextual ammo drops in the open world and now I'm getting a LOT of 2mm XD.
