    I think the tiny house is amazingKen, and actually notching out the corners of that trundle bed I think improved the flow of traffic through the home. Life’s a learning curve and you navigate through it well!! I’m excited for the next project , the gypsy caravan!!

    Nice !!👍 I think it is much better with the extra room to walk around the bed. The bed is still a good size.

    Nice recovery Ken. It was after all a pilot project and only became a deadline project after it got sold so quickly in the build process. Your next tiny house is going to be the beneficiary of all you (and us) learned during your build. Your final product does look wonderful. Thanks again for taking us along the journey.....

    Hi Ken. My partner & i have had 3 Caravans & on the last one it had a fitted bedroom with the corners taken off for ease of use & we still found it to be so comfortable.
    She also found it easier to make th bed the next day.
    I like the way you adjust to the problems so well done with the tiny home & have a safe journey. Take care to you & Dan.

    Why the deadline rush? I always tried to have a extra day before I had to make a delivery to allow for problems that pop up. That way you have some time to fix them, and if there are no problems, then you can prepare your tools and truck, think thru the job and plan for any problems that may arise there. Its less stressful and gives you a breather. Good luck on your delivery and set up.

    Great job Ken. We had two twin beds pushed together with a king 6 inch thick mattress in our spare room. When my son and his wife moved, we put the twin beds on two walls. I used a bread knife to cut the foam and ordered two twin covers like you have there. I like the way you saw the problem, changed the design and did the work. I would have been frantic, LOL. Skills pays the bills.

    Guessing the next build will have that larger kitchen sink being swapped for a corner style bathroom vanity. I guess the point here is why have a big sink for dishes and pots if there's no cooking facility? For outside cooking / cleaning maybe build a sink into one of the outside pull-out drawers?

    That heartbreak moment at 4:41
    Knowing there is no easy way out
    Feeling like you have let down the client even though they are ok with it
    An actor would have had a tough time conveying this frustration as well you did here.
    Anyone who takes on difficult tasks that are outside of our normal wheelhouse knows this feeling, but if you dont push through , the world stops making progress

  • @jfrodgers7858
    @jfrodgers7858 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Nice save Ken.
    (I've always slept double in a "full" size bed. But a lot of military housing can be on the less roomy side, so a queen really congested the room and a king was really out of the question. I think the difference between a full and queen is only 6 inches, so you would still be out of clearance.)

    • @rupe53
      @rupe53 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I feel that part of the answer is making the kitchen sink into a bathroom sized sink, then maybe making the whole house a foot or two longer. Also, making that single bed into a pair of bunk beds to gain floor space.

    New subscriber here, in north Texas. I wanted to say that the little house looks amazing and your trouble shooting skills and attitude are beyond incredible! I know what you did with the mattress was on a time schedule and you didn't have time to order anything and wait for it to be delivered, but next time you might want to look into the RV mattresses that are available online. You can order various sizes with the corners already notched out and bedding etc. So next time you build one like this, it's something to consider.

    Finally got to see this. Oops, major flaw in design? I like the sliding drawers you're going to build! Rats, only 11 inches between the wood stove and the corner of the Murphy bed. So sad. I never noticed this. So you're going to do this on each end of the Murphy bed. It makes sense that you'll be able to walk by the bed to the bathroom now. So sad this had to be done. I'm glad you got this figured out before you delivered it. I hope these adjustments go easily so you can deliver the tiny house on time. I like the fill-ins you made. I think a reading light in there would be a great idea. Nice job putting the polyurethane on the new wood. Nice mattress! I hope you made your delivery time okay. Thanks for this video Ken!

    It is done now but I was always wondering about putting a queen size bed in a space that size at all. Seems a full size would be more appropriate. I think it would have been faster and easier just to shrink the frame down to that of a full size mattress. That way the owners could decide if they want an innerspring mattress some time in the future. I hope you and Dan had a good trip.

    Why wouldn't you just make the frame for a double size bed? 54" mattress instead of 60". Little Cabin is made to be "temporary" or "infrequent" use?

    In caravans in the uk, we often find beds with an angle taken out of one end, to aid access, so your spot on. I'm not sure about both ends?. Nice job tho.
