As a dad of 3 girls, let me say this. By your dad helping, he is keeping young and second, he's so happy that he can help you in achieving your goals of having your own house. Great work by both of you.
And he's showing anyone watching that he knows his girl can do anything, and he's helping to make sure her dreams come true. Can't ask for better parenting than that!
So blessed to have a father that is present in your life and being a true Dad instead of faking the way through! Building you with the confidence you deserve! Bless you both.
Great job Tia. Your father must be so proud of you. I am calling your $1 house Sleeping Beauty because you are truly bringing her back to life after so many years of neglect. You go girl!!
I love to see young people who have a good work ethic and who are willing to put in a lot of sweat equity to accomplish goals. You’re doing a great job.
Your attitude and approach to this project is great! I love it, Tia says, "Let's do something fun" and then cleans her vintage refrigerator. My kind of person!
My Dad passed away 2 years ago, I enjoy seeing you and your Dad work together so much!! It brings back so many great memories of my Dad helping me over the years with all my projects! He taught me so much. Enjoy your time together, it goes by way too fast🥰
Those old refrigerators look cool, but they are energy hogs. Probably 2/3s of the electricity used on your bill will be the operation of that old fridge. Take it from an old granny that has used old refrigerators before 😊
I just want to tell you how proud I am of you! I’m so happy I found you on TikTok and am enjoying watching you remodel this house on a budget. Cannot wait to see it finished.❤❤❤
Love seeing young women gaining home remodeling and repair skills. So impressed by your work ethic and goal setting - this will take you so far in life.
So much work but so worth it. May I suggest getting a construction magnet on wheels to roll on the ground around your house to pick up all the nails from pulling all those up from the roof. It’s by far the best way to clean all that up. Then you’ll avoid a bunch of possible problems like flat tires or stepping on them
The fridge is looking good. I remember when I use to buff the outside of the fridge out with car wax. It makes those old fridges shine. That roof looks sooooooooo nice.
For your vintage fridge, I’d try using a very fine automotive rubbing compound. Then give it a nice automotive wax on the finish. While it’s not powered up go into the motor and cooling unit and vacuum out all the dust, silt and cobwebs. You’re doing great!
There is no question that you could do all of this on your own, but it's sure nice to have a couple of extra hands to speed things up. ALMOST forgot! Got my t-shirt yesterday! Looks really nice. Everyone - buy a t-shirt, buy two t-shirts!!!
I like how the electrician is working along with you by informing you what needs to be done before he is able to finish his work. Your best teacher is your dad. You are learning a lot of 'on the job' training. These are life skills. Maybe the electrician will allow you to watch what he does.
I'm exhausted just watching you! You remind me of my younger sister (who is now 63 years old) who bought her house in Pennsylvania several years ago, and when Dad learned she had "a few home improvement projects" she wanted to accomplish, he drove up from North Carolina to help her. Dad passed away in 2017, but Linda is still working on her home projects, using the skills Dad taught her.
Pretty sure one of those toasters in the fridge is a Toastmaster 1B14 - the Cadillac of toasters. They make great toast and last forever. It's arguably the best toaster ever made. Nice! This is an amazing project and I'm having a marvelous time watching your progress. Thank you!

Awesome job on the roof. You should be able to cut a piece of glass or plexiglass to replace the refrigerator shelf. Try a heat gun and soapy water to remove the tape.
So many of us, young, middle aged, elderly: would love to have a father that is caring enough to work with us on a house or any other project. A great many of us never had the opportunity to have a father in our lives. I watch you two work together and think: "how awesome!". No, no jealousy. Just joy at seeing a relationship as it should be between father and daughter, working together.
Don't put your milk in the refrigerator door. Put it on the back of the top shelf. It will keep longer, because that's the coldest part of the fridge. Don't forget to put a box of baking soda in the back! You can get the rust off with plain old white vinegar. Just scrub it on with a toothbrush and let it sit. You may have to repeat, but it will take it off.
You and your dad make a great renovation team. Enjoy this time with your dad, time passes by so quickly. Bless you both. Older houses WERE actually built better, the wood was literally better, especially heart of pine. I built most of my tiny house by myself, so it's great to see women out there unafraid of remodeling. Be gentle with that Philco fridge handle, I've seen them broken so maybe it gets brittle with age.
For years to come you will look at your home and see memories that you and your father done together that is itself a blessing God bless you and family on your remodel and journey through life if something seems impossible always know nothing is impossible everything is possible if you put your heart and mind to it God bless
Boy is that house going to look like good when you finish, such a hard worker, however I really think you should tear down the pony walls in between the living room and dinning, it would make it look a lot bigger.
What a blessing it is to have your Dad working side by side with you! I would give anything to still have my Dad around..he taught me so much and was very handy. I hope you never take him for granted, and learn all you can from him. I can’t wait to watch all of the progress and see that darling little house, become a cozy cute home.
You are an amazing young woman with a vision of what her new home is going to be like! Good for you! It's nice to see a young woman who is not afraid to get her hands dirty and get totally immersed in a project that is going to evolve into a beautiful home!❤❤ I'm also glad to see a young woman whose sole purpose in life, is not solely focused on having babies and cooking and all of that. Jolly, good dear!❤❤
She is amazing! But there is nothing wrong with having a family etc. As long as people are happy with their lives, that's what matters. Also, Tia has a fantastic Dad who, no doubt, taught her a lot of trade work. My father was an expert welder. I adore welding. Such a shame he was selfish and abandoned me and my sisters. Imagine what he could have shared with us.
Wow! I’m 66 and I’m interested in restoring a home just a small cottage and I can’t do it anymore. I have the time but I don’t have the health. I enjoy watching your series. Best of luck to you and yes, You’re lucky you have your dad…
I didn't become financially independent until I was in my late 40's, and I'm still in my 40's. In addition to having purchased my second home and earning money on a monthly basis through passive income, I've also achieved three out of five goals. I just hope this inspires someone to realize that it doesn't matter if you don't have any of these things yet, you can start today no matter your age. Change your future by investing! I made a rather big decision by investing in the financial market.
Investing in many sources of income that are independent on government paychecks is the prudent thing that everyone should be thinking about right now, especially given the global economic crisis. Stocks, forex, and digital currencies are still good investments at this time.
This is superb! Information, as a noob it gets quite difficult to handle all of this, and staying informed is a major cause, how do you go about this are you a pro investor?
If you treat the outside of the fridge with car polish, it will come up very nicely and it is a good way to get rid of surface rust and other marks that other cleaning couldn't budge.
Tia, Congrats on the house. I kept a 1950 Frigidaire from my parent’s basement. It still works like a charm 74 years later. Like yours, some of the plastic shelving is broken which I’ve repaired. I also changed the insulation on the door. Note: The door alone weighs a tonne.
Great work!! So glad you were able to find an electrician that actually showed up. So EXCITING to see stuff coming together for you. Have a great week! 😁
Nice work. You and/or your dad may already know this, but it’s key to add metal flashing where the chimney meets the roof. Tar, sealant, or similar will fail eventually and then leak.
This brings me back to being a kid visiting my family in the country. Every day was just going to someone's house or farm and fixing stuff, it's what we did for fun. Can't wait for the next video!
WD 40 works on a lot of that rust for the fridge - worth a try - should make it shine again - there are different kinds of WD 40 for different projects - you have a wonderful dad - hard working team - thanks for the video
My late brother and I used to do roofing and siding on the side and I'm here to confirm that was a LOT of work to do; thank God the roof was not too high off the ground and the pitch is pretty gentle. Without a good roof nothing is possible and it is a good thing your old Dad knows what he is doing; soak up as much knowledge as you can, Miss. Very good progress thus far! The more I watch this channel the more I like it😃. Looking forward to the next installment!
Great to see the roof done! It's hard work (standing and working at an angle all day), but once done you can really get going on the rest of the house! Love the series. Keep going Tia!
Just in case you wanted to, you can take the fridge to a body shop for cars and have it painted, and because of the age of the fridge, it probably uses freon, so make sure you check, to see there are no leaks, and check the gasket seal. I wanted to use a old fridge years ago and it was a disaster until someone more knowledgeable came to bail me out. You are doinga sterling job, and it's wonderful you have a dad who helps you, AND, its adorable! I look forward to seeing your progress as it all comes together. Good luck!!😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love, love, love this! So much fun watching the changes! You and your dad are very handy and are saving so much money by doing a lot yourselves. You probably know this, but you should get all those appliances rewired as a safety issue. I can’t wait till the next video!!! 💖
SOS pads will help with that fridge. You might want to see how much for some new frosted glass for the bottom shelf. The one in there is looking pretty much done. The roof looks so much better on that side.
So happy to see that metal roof go on! 12 years ago I replaced my composition roof with metal and it was the best decision I've made, my neighbor replaced at the same time with comp and today mine still looks like the day it went up while theirs looks worn. Added benefit is snow slides right off. You're doing amazing!
Wow!!! Roof looks amazing!!! And I'm so impressed with how quickly you are making progress! Also, SO relieved to hear that the insulation isn't asbestos! That's fantastic! Can't wait for next week!
Congrats on getting the roof finished! Such an accomplishment! When I was a small child I climbed into a fridge similar to yours and shut the door behind me. They are a death trap because the door latches and cannot be opened from the inside. I love a vintage piece, just keep that in mind if you have children around.
My buddy has a 1950 fridge he found in a fireld. Bought a door seal, cleaned it and 15 years later stil works. The outside of these old fridge can be cleaned like a car....compound and wax can be used to make it look even better. Good luck.
Doing a great job! Good to see that you used modern underlayment instead of felt. You're blessed to have a dad who can help you with the work. It's nice to see him helping you and not doing the work for you. You're going to end up with a great home.
My goodness y’all did a lot of work. But it’s looking so much better. You’re one hard working girl. That fridge is awesome. Can’t wait for the next video. Stay blessed!!
So happy you are keeping the wood that's still good. Old wood is fantastic if rot hasn't gotten into it. Can't find anything better in any building supply store today.
You must have felt so exhilarated to have that roof done, Your dad must brag about you to everyone. Not everyone has a daughter like you. Keep up the brave, hard work.
Wow! I could watch for hours! Love your ambition…along with your Dads! God Bless him for helping you! Just think when it’s all said and done…you both can say….We did that together …while making beautiful memories to cherish for a lifetime! Hope you are able to find drawers to replace the ones that are broken in your fridge…. Hope your are taking a lot of Epsom Salt baths for your aching muscles! It works wonders! Take Care! Looking forward to seeing your next video! 😊
Nice. Thanks for the update on your mask and filters. 👍🏻 The silver "paint" on the middle layer of shingles may have been a Conklin product that was all rhe rage 30 years ago in the state or even the product used to waterproof metal trailer house roofs. Either way its satisfying to see the roof done right. Nice to see the power getting trenched in. Having power in the house will be so helpful. A suggestion, Take a picture or video of the trench for future reference in case you forget exactly where it goes.
This is the first restoration series I’ve found early on where I can watch the new episodes as they come out. Love seeing the progress, thanks for taking the time to film!
Try using baking soda to clean with, especially if you need to get greasy or sticky stuff off of surfaces. Just baking soda and a damp cloth can work like magic. Totally nontoxic too
You are the Inspiration and a Role Model to People afraid to roll their sleeves up and get their hands dirty. Congrats on the super cool Vintage House. And, a shout out to your Pops. So nice to see a Girl and her Dad working together. I'll be watching your progress. It's Fantastic watching you bring Life back to the House others would run away from.
I love your little house. And, your roof is great. You are right the older houses were built better. It is all looking so very nice. The fridge is nice too. The only thing I remember is having to defrost them very often. Amazing that it is in such good shape it still works. Your little bunny rabbit friend is cute too. 💕💕💕🫶🫶💕💕💕
SO proud and impressed by your hard word, dedication, and perseverance!! We’re rooting for you here in Mt. Dora, FL, and can’t wait to see your completed renovation!! Thank you so much for sharing, you’re truly an inspiration!!!
Oh Miss Tia, wow!! You are rockin it girlie!! So wonderful to see the work ethic you have! I am sure your dad is super proud as well! Enjoy this time!❤ BTW…TFS!!!😊
Wish my dad was still alive he was a great carpenter. It is what he did for a living. Also he was a trim carpenter too. Not nothing he could not do. The house is moving along. So, cool you found a house for 1.00.
This girl is competent and hard working. The monotony of pulling all those nails on the roof was proof enough. She’ll do well in life.
Was not a very hard roof to do.. Its constructed very simple.. Even i could replace that roof.
@@rallyscoot true that but it’s very tedious, pulling all those nails out
And then afterwards, she stays up all night to do the video editing!!
That was some serious dedication.
Speaking of nails. Can those be considered antique nails?
Loving this series! I only wish the episodes were longer. You are very fortunate to have your dad to help you out. 😊
Yes, longer episodes! 😊
Love the roofing. Over hang needs gutters for rain water for you gardens put I 0n you later next year list.
I like the videos this length. Just my opinion.
Éditer les vidéos en même temps que la rénovation c'est déjà bien !!! c'est un sacré travail supplémentaire 😅

Great job Tia. Your father must be so proud of you. I am calling your $1 house Sleeping Beauty because you are truly bringing her back to life after so many years of neglect. You go girl!!
Great name for her home.
I was thinking The Patchwork House. Like a beautiful quilt.
@@backyardrebel2149 Backyard that is an awesome name. Tia will have a real treasure and we get to enjoy vicariously watching her progress.
I love to see young people who have a good work ethic and who are willing to put in a lot of sweat equity to accomplish goals. You’re doing a great job.
And she is gonna love that house like no one who buys a totally finished, builder's grade house ever really can.
All that, and she's smart about a lot of things. Very nice to see in a young person, I think.
I love to see that, too!!
I’ve started to really look forward to your Sunday updates. They can’t come soon enough! 😃

So many nails!!! Awesome that your dad is helping with this huge undertaking. Its coming along nicely!
The fridge is looking good. I remember when I use to buff the outside of the fridge out with car wax. It makes those old fridges shine. That roof looks sooooooooo nice.
My mother cleaned the outer frig with a white liquid polish called "Jubilee" in a bottle.
@@lindamangoldbooth7789 Yes I remember that too. It had a strong smell to it.
For your vintage fridge, I’d try using a very fine automotive rubbing compound. Then give it a nice automotive wax on the finish. While it’s not powered up go into the motor and cooling unit and vacuum out all the dust, silt and cobwebs. You’re doing great!

I love seeing you work with your dad. My dad and I used to work on projects side by side in the garage. No better time was spent. I miss him so much.
Tia, you are a delight! Thank you for sharing your time and experiences.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay happy.

Nice. Thanks for the update on your mask and filters. 👍🏻
The silver "paint" on the middle layer of shingles may have been a Conklin product that was all rhe rage 30 years ago in the state or even the product used to waterproof metal trailer house roofs.
Love seeing the progress, thanks for taking the time to film!
i love that you replace only what needs to be 👍
Try using baking soda to clean with, especially if you need to get greasy or sticky stuff off of surfaces. Just baking soda and a damp cloth can work like magic. Totally nontoxic too
So great to see how much you do yourself and with your dad. These moments are so special
Fabulous fridge!!! And incredible progress with roof and electric. I have Such respect for you.
I love the 1950’s fridge, you are a hard worker. Glad your Dad can help you😊
You’re an inspiration! What a blessing also to have your dad by your side to help you.
I love your little house. And, your roof is great. You are right the older houses were built better. It is all looking so very nice. The fridge is nice too. The only thing I remember is having to defrost them very often. Amazing that it is in such good shape it still works. Your little bunny rabbit friend is cute too.

Wish my dad was still alive he was a great carpenter. It is what he did for a living. Also he was a trim carpenter too. Not nothing he could not do. The house is moving along. So, cool you found a house for 1.00.
You are awesome! I applaud your courage to take on this project. I bet your dad is so proud of you.
I'm really enjoying watching your restoration!
That is a beautiful refrigerator. I love that that you addressed mold asbestos and lead. I think with a basement you should buy a radon test.
