I am impressed with your species choices matching special use requirements, and overall design purpose verse astatic balance. You would think, but Japanese homes are only built to last 25 years.They aren't built nearly as well as this woodshed. When you buy a home in Japan, it isn't an investment like in the US. You expect the value of the home to fall to 0 in just 10-15 years. In Japan homes are to live in while in the US they are stores of value for the banks.
@@shanedevon6447 I live in a 150 year old Japanese house and I found one rotted floor joist. Pine on the ground will tend to do that after a century or so lol. The main reason that there might not be many old houses around anymore (thats debatable btw) is because they either burned down at some point, or it became easier to tear them down and build a new home rather than modernize an old one.
Shoyan, you are a Master Carpenter and meticulous is normal for you. This is why I enjoy watching your work no matter what the project is as the quality is excellent. This wood shed will outlast it owner and he should be very, very pleased with the workmanship. 👍🏼🔨😎

I live in the Japanese countryside, and as for your first question, no, lumber is quite expensive. However, the forests are full of Cypress and Cedar so if you can cut down and mill your own lumber, then it's a different story. The old saw mills are hanging on by a thread, being operated by guys in their 70s, so you can find older lumber for cheap if you know people. Regular stores mostly just sell Canadian Douglas Fir.
Should we discuss the awesome lumber he has access to? U can't find that in the states unless u pay an arm and a leg. The craftsmanship here is next level.
I'd trust that woodshed in a storm before my own home 😂. Man that's amazing! Most Americans wouldn't want to pay for this detail. Really can't say enough it's just crazy the amount of detail.
