NFS Most Wanted came out on basically every electrical device short of your smartfridge- but was the GBA version any good? I've 100%'d the game, so here's my educated analysis. - เกม
"Why is this dude racing Razor in a stock golf?"
Nice shoutout to Kuru there. ;)
FAK
fak I was going to say that xD
Damn, you beat me right to it! xD
PEW PEW PEW PEW DUDDUDUDADADA
My imitation of nfs underground 2 Java theme
Kacey Fun Fact: The Golf Gti is actually the fastest car in the game.
It's weird that this is so much better than the DS version lmao
minimme right? The DS, GBA and PSP versions of NFS all varied wildly in quality between platforms. PSP Carbon +Underground were great, Most Wanted was worst on PSP and best on GBA, and the later games were so different between PSP and DS that there’s really no direct comparison. It’s wild, and something I’m kind of sad we won’t see again now that handhelds are focused on just being portable consoles a la Switch
Ds version is very bad
@@Kaceydotme Wait, the PSP version is worse than the DS? How did they manage to do worse than the dumpster fire they served up on the DS?
@@Purianite it's... basically the same level of garbage but at least they tried on the DS. if midnight club 3 can run basically full fledged on PSP, there's no excuse for Most Wanted being so halfassed.
I’d say the DS version is much worse, the PSP version may not be ambitious but it’s substantially more playable. The DS version, they didn’t try, it’s like racing on ice. Carbon was much better on the DS. Pretty cool that the PSP Carbon is even open world.
2:31 most wanted's physics are the "best" i've felt on a GBA racing game
*proceeds to hit the wall*
*HMMMMM*
I remember getting this as a child and being incredibly disappointed by the graphics and slidey physics compared to NFS HP2... I put it down after crashing into a wall I thought was an oncoming road lol.
I can see that complaint for sure. It's not as much of an issue on an emulator but it did happen from time to time. That said though man, for a GBA... not bad.
Regarding the courses, a lot of the layouts are ripped out from older NFS games, mainly UG2, that is why they felt similar.
I realized this after! upon rewatching Raycevick's NFS Most Wanted video, some of them are pulled from Hot Pursuit 2. i think this trend continued into the DS era, ProStreet seems to have similar situations with its tracks where the drag portions are just straightaway parts of circuit tracks.
Ngl this looks REALLY good for a gba game
YES! The game of my childhood finally appreciated! Everyone called this game lackluster, I thought otherwise as a kid
My first portable NFS game was this, man I spend soo much time *_AND BATTERIES_* on this game
I used to play this a ton on a tiny game boy micro years back. Was genuinely alot of fun.
Didn't take long at all to fire up and get into a race if you only had 5 mins either, definitely appreciated that in a portable game.
just trying to see which way the road will go gave me eye soreness... how did you play this for 7 hours wow, you are a legend
My second ever game I owned, still have the GBA and my copy of the game till this day. Still fun.
I got the game recently and I can assure you that the game *does not* have rubber-banding. If you make a mistake that takes a lot of time to recover from (especially in late game), the AI simply catches up to you by playing normally. I mean, whenever I unlocked new cars and bought the most expensive one, I usually breezed through the races and left the opponents up to half a lap behind (on 2 & 3 lap circuits) - even without performance upgrades. XD
Everything else you mentioned sounds spot on. Great video, informative and well-presented.
My childhood!! I loved this game on my GBA SP, thanks for the video man.
The graphics/gameplay of this remind me of the mobile version of NFS Carbon from a decade or more ago back when I played through it, of which to this date is the only mobile/portable version of an NFS game I have, given I prefer playing them on console/Xbox anyway 😛 Also the main speedometer of this game, looks an awful lot like one from NFSU1 or 2! 🤔
I may have to source/invest in getting these games for myself, as I have a Nintendo DS Lite which I only have two games for D: and while I never owned a Gameboy Advance, I do infact have the GameCube Gameboy Player which can play Gameboy, Colour & Advance games on the 'bigscreen' that way! 😊
Thank you for the time & effort you've put into making these videos, been enjoying some of them already and glad to have discovered your channel too! 👍🙌
Spent many hours on this as a kid, brought back some memories, cheers.
I love how most of those track layouts are from Underground 2
Hol up...was that Windows XP?
Win10 skin hahaha
@@Kaceydotme Had a feeling, WinXP was a great operating system, but no real reason to be actually using it these days as a primary OS
@@Gamerdude854 Tell that to the hospital I work at. Had XP until 2 years ago.
the contrast with the gba version makes the ps3 version of this look so god damn photorealistic
I know this is old, but a fun tip for this game that didn't get mentioned is that you can press select to go into first person/bumper view, which not only makes it a bit easier to see corners, but also improves framerate a bit, and also seems to improve handling(?)
Feels like a different game with this mode on.
I had this version when I was a kid, crazy to think I still remember playing it to this day
This is still one of the best racers in the GBA along with F-Zero GP Legends, and Mario Kart Super Circuit
Great video! When reviewing games like this, do you just dedicate a day or two to completing them? I’d probably get bored, if it were 10 years ago, I’d think it’s a lowered graphic game but still complete it with fun, but now that graphics are so good, with 1080p and some games even going 4K, I’m too used to the graphics of that. (Apart from games like Mario, and games meant to give a nostalgic/retro feeling like shovel knight). I played this on the DS years ago and found it okay but found that with the D-Pad, it would be super easy to oversteer, due to the dpad not having sensitivity. Gonna go check out more of your videos now!
It kinda depends. Sometimes I am just playing something for fun (but always recording because who knows when I’ll need b-roll) and my thoughts about it make me feel it’d make a good video; other times I sit down and beat it over a day or three. But I’m very busy with school, work and other creative projects so sometimes like with Final Fronts I’m playing it even after I’ve started writing. I only finished Final Fronts the night before the review came out, but I was about 75% done when I started writing.
Kacey Oh nice, thanks for the insight. You’re channel is high quality for the amount of subscribers it has.
I had this and NFS underground 2 I think was on the GBA as well. Those dyno tests were something
So I had this as a kid and porche unleashed.
I also had MW 2005 on PS2 and remember being distinctly disappointed at the GBA offering. I recently found my GBA SP the this being one of two remaining games (I must have sold the rest at some point). Still had a save file I had and one my sister had made.
Weirdly enough, I think I enjoyed Porche Unleashed better. For GBA racing though, Crash Nitro kart takes the cake as my fav of the genre. Never had MK Circuit. THG2 and Minish Cap sitting head to head for my all time fav on the console.
For those wondering, the other title I still happened to have was Spyro Season of Flame.
Awesome video! Sorry I don't have any suggestions, though.
Dad where are you all good. Thanks for sticking around :)
"anyone playing this game today will use an emulator"
*looks at my 2 cib copies of this game*
Song name that starts at 5:20? I heard it playing on the NFS Nitro DSi game trailer yeara ago. I really want to know the name of it please!
I got this for 8$ a few days ago at the retro game store I can't stop playing
This is actually one of my favorite racing games
I question your use of the word "port."
It’s shorter than the word “version”
This was probably the first game I ever played. Fast forward to 2018 I finally played it through and beat it. The handbrake makes it so fun, never realized there was manual transmission mode though.
Finished this game on MyBoy emulator, it took too many hours to finish than the PC version lol
I recommend trying V-Rally 3 on GBA sometime. It is a surprisingly solid rally game.
You didn't make me want to this, but you DID make me want to play High Stakes again.
Wow, both the game and video are under rated. My suggestion is shattered Union for Xbox
Stubbertville I will look into it:)
I rebuilt my GBA a year back and this was one of the first games i stuck into it. I don't know why, because i'm not actually terribly fond of it, and as far as i know, i have the cartridge because someone else threw it away and i picked it up.
5:20 I have a question, what bg music did you use?
from nfshs, i think bulbular swirl
My God. I played the absolute hell out of this game as a kid. This brings back so many damn memories...
I also played the hell out of NFS Carbon on GBC. You should totally cover that game.
NFS Carbon: Own The City that is.
i never remember NFS:MW having that good graphics (the PC one). Do you have some kind of mod on to make it better quality? 5:03
Xbox 360 ver
I still have it and its working. I played this version first and only then the pc version lol. Damn that nostalgia
What's your retroarch theme?
Whatever happened to NFS being on other consoles aside from xbox and playstation
Finally somebody giving this game the props in deserves... Never owned a gba, but I was shocked @ how fun this was on emulator... like he said tho, turn the race music off and turn on yours and got a game. 💯 Not to difficult not to Easy, just right
1:15 Don't disrespect my boy Max like that =))) He'd been through a lot
Wow, it's that actual Windows XP or just Modded Theme?
Actually better than the Nintendo DS version not gonna lie
I had this game as a kid.
Now I just want to play old NFSs with high resolution and 60 fps. To bad I don't have a gaming PC
You can do that on most average computers tbh
Imagine this game on a game boy video cartridge with the proper cutscenes.
Why do you use WinXP for GBA emulator except because it is nostalgic :-)?
3:29 what emulator is that? is it a modded retroarch?
I came across with your channel when it popped on my recommendeds and IM IN LOVE WITH YOUR CONTENT definetely underrated watched all your vids. Also what's the texture pack/enb you use on pc version of MW?
That was actually the 360 version of MW. It's pretty well known as the best looking version, for some reason it just looks better than the PC
@@Kaceydotme agreed,i love the sparks and shit when you bump into something.
Too bad i kept my 360 under many stacks of dvds and magazines and shit in my basement.
I really liked Carbon OTC on GBA as well.
the fuckin email lmfao
I absolutely loved my GBA copy of Most Wanted back in the day. Such a fun game and impressive graphics for the hardware! I simultaneously owned the DS copy and would constantly come back to the GBA copy because it was leaps and bounds better than the awful DS port.
Does the console ver. have better graphics than the PC, or is it the other way around?
360 looked better (more stylized) than PC
@@Kaceydotme atleast the 360 version came with widescreen,on PC,i had to install ThirteenAG's widescreen fix.
GBA NFS has such Tail happy handling lol
Wow I am glad to grew up with nfs U2 on gba sp
You should check out J2me/Jave version. It also quite impressive and it tries even more to be like full release xD
Have a lost and full Java version with more cars, blacklist members and tracks. Sad i can't found this version.
You should see the rare version for the BREW system,it haves things The console version don't have like neon and more underground tuning.
1:20 nail polish 🥰
I'm not the only one in this camp
Why does your nfs mw looks so good
The 360 version looks better than the PC version, it runs at a worse framerate and res but the shaders are better in most people’s opinion. Game is also less buggy on 360... not by much, though.
5:02 Whats moution blur mod in this moment?
There isn’t one, this is just what the 360 version looked like.
I had MW on GBA. It was alright but only for pure boredom
I actually remember playing this as a kid and being fairly entertained but I prefer GT Advance 3 in terms of GBA racers.
Played MW on Gamecube and currently the best version, Xbox 360. I should get my hands on a cart for GBA. I remember a friend had this game. Always looked cool at the time.
wait a second
nfs:mw
for gba
wtf
i saw only porshe unleashed
There’s also Underground 1 & 2 as well as Carbon.
@@Kaceydotme
Carbon?!
I can't even imagine how it looked
If even on PSP NFS:Carbon(Own The City, not original, but still) looked not so good
Thanks for info xd
@@Kaceydotme i watched some gameplay and omg graphics and sound is awful, my ears are dying
i know that it's gba, but still
porshe unleashed sounded better for me
The psp was harder than the pc apparently
Because of shitty indestructible rubberbanding police that has much heavier cars and will fuck you up. Its fucking infuriating and without save states on ppsspp i wouldnt even bother. Its like that CoD wkrld at war ps2 game....
Although I haven't played the pc version , I played the psp version as a kid and don't remember it being difficult
Kacpa2 IKR
@@justaname4288 The game itself is easy if you have luck with the police, but it's a terrible game
i fuckin remember playing this omg
Hi
Just turn on your own music
*starts playing nfs mw songs*
He says he probably the last person to play the game in the last year but yet theres still kuru
How about the NFS Carbon: Own the City? A GBA version for nfs: Carbon
Also a ds version
@@ZozanneAndKPX Also PSP
I’ve heard good things about this game and it looks fun enough but oh boy those gba graphics! Lol
Arrash you get used to them. Lemme tell you tho... you got eye problems to start with? This will give you headaches
Better than ds version
Need For Speed MW GBA OST- Track 2
3:34 which nfs game is this?
Hot Pursuit 2 (PS2 version)
next: nfsmw gba/ds blacklists on pc
its ironically better than the ds version. the ds version made me lose brain cells
I beat this game On ds,it's pure trash and shitty, thats why i delete this shit from my r4 card.
A lot of people like to dog on the DS version but I still prefer it, I think the GBA version plays too slow. The GBA struggled with racing games in general and there aren't many I could really get into.
That's fair, they're very closely related. It feels like the GBA was the lead platform, though, with the DS following its lead. IMO, that's not how development for those two platforms should have been handled; the DS was good at things that the GBA wasn't, and vice versa. This rendering style was a good fit for the GBA's capabilities and target frame rate. But the DS targeted 60 and was also capable of providing a much better looking game, as proven by Underground 2's DS port.
Yeah looking back at this comment after playing NFSMW DS again I absolutely get why people prefer the GBA version. It looks a hell of a lot more technically impressive and doesn't play like a bad go-kart game.
I think the track layouts of this game is the same as the PSP version
4:21 wildcats stadium? isn't that from Burnout Paradise
Is rockport city
1:19 is that Windows XP?
no, it's win10 skinned.
Need For Speed: No-one Wanted.
All car in this version is FWD
I have only finished NFS Most Wanted on Gameboy Advance
My most fond NFS games are on the ps1; NFS 1, 2 , High Stakes, Porsche Unleashed
My most memorable NFS game on ps2 is Undercover, and I've never played the next gen version
And I my only experience in current NFS is Rivals, which I had a lot of fun with it for some reason
Can I officially be the NFS hipster now pls XD
i actually have the gba version of nfs mw
Now java version. :)

NFS MW GBA Track 2
The GBA port of NFSMW 2005 surprisingly FAR better than NFSMW DS and MW 5-1-0.
I actually really like this version of the game, I have this and the PS2 version.
The DS version is terrible and I’ve never played the PSP version.
MINIMME
Really wish Nintendo's console eas powerful
Portable Car
What everyone thinks this video is: need for speed: most wanted GBA
What youtube thinks it is: need for speed: most wanted.
The best version of this game is for Xbox 360, then for the PC.
Worst game ever!
- No cutscenes! (not even in flip phone quality from back in the day)
- No sountracks from the homeports
- No free roaming
- Sh!tty graphics
- Worst €20 spent ever (this was back in 2005)
You definitely didn't see the DS version
