I had liked the video when there was only 5 likes. I closed the window, did some homework and came back to youtube later. And I was like why's there deleted video in like playlist?
Underground on the GBA actually gives me a lot of nostalgia, it was the first and only game I got when I got the handheld GB, and I chose it cause I was already into racing.
I mean to be fair, that's a lot of racing games. Even modern ones. You usually either stare at the back bumper of your car, or you're using a cockpit view where you MIGHT see the hood. Customizing the visuals of a car in a racing games is nearly pointless, but it's still fun to KNOW your car looks a certain way.
@@TXFDA Cockpit view in tuning games is a sin. But you actually see a good chunk of your car in 3rd person, since your car isn't stationary and turns left and right all the time. You don't only get to see it from the back either, assuming the game allows you to look backwards.
I used to play a ton of Underground 2 on the GBA. I actually 100% it three times. That might just be young me playing what I had, but I legit thought it was great.
I mean, I just started playing it yesterday. It's over half way into 2021. I still enjoy it. I hate the minigames and drag racing to be honest, but the actual racing, drift challenges, and vehicle customization is enough fun that I actually put up with the few things I dislike, and am having fun. It also looks a lot better than you'd think based on this video. The game, being played on a small GBA or DS screen, looks a LOT better than it being played on a big TH-cam video or emulator. Especially if it's on a GBA (as opposed to the DS) because the GBA has some motion smudging and stuff that helps blend some stuff together.
I'll be honest, these games are the kind of games that actually look better on an actual GBA. The smaller screen helps, but the GBA also has some like, motion smudging and stuff that helps blend things together. Playing on a bigger screen with crystal clear graphics.....kinda makes it look worse.
The way this channel works is kinda odd. Whenever I see its thumbnails I click on them like I'm about to open a tab with only an image file (and then behold the beautiful art), ignoring the fact that I'm in TH-cam (a video-only plataform). After the click, what I find is a video of the man minimme himself with graceful minimme-quality content in it; thing that, maybe is not the image that I was sold for, yet it is something that equals its passion. Shine on, you digital skater.
You deserve all the support you get, man. You're one of my favourite TH-camrs to throw on when I've had a long day and I just wanna chill out. You're informative, entertaining, and just plain funny without being ouvert or obnoxious about it and I think that's a really tough thing to master. Best of luck for the new year!
I still think the GT series is much more suited to the GBA hardware, that F-Zero style with mode 7 tracks and car sprites. When I first saw that in 2001 I was really impressed by the quality of the car sprites and it's frames of animation.
Has anyone else noticed weird similarities in GBA 3D titles and the way 3D looked on the 3DO? Similar texture warping, frame rates, polygon detail, texture resolution, etc. Even their CPUs are surprisingly similar.
The similarities are probably more to do with the fact that GBA has no dedicated 3D hardware, meaning that you had to program the 3D engine to run in software entirely on the CPU, just like PC games before hardware acceleration became mainstream, which limits how much precision and detail you can get in the rendering, especially if you want a playable frame rate. I don't know much about how the 3DO works, but given other systems from the time lacking dedicated 3D hardware like the Sega 32X, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same case there too. It really puts into perspective just how revolutionary the PlayStation was in the console space, even if it seems so archaic now.
@ sheepytina even the PS1 suffered from extreme affine texture warping and lacking a z-buffer which means it does not fully support perspective correction.
These GBA Need For Speed are underrated. Even if you have the PC version and you download the GBA version, is still fun. The tuning is good, the car selection also and you have a simple but effective gameplay :D Sorry for my english
I don't think I can agree. I guess graphics shouldn't matter that much but when they're so bad that they don't let you see where you're going, they become a huge deal. I could never get over that.
I really wish NFS Underground 2 kept the AMAZING physics engine from 1. Almost every racing game on both GBA and DS has super wack slidey crappy physics.
I always love watching these, great job as always, its always impressive seeing what they do with the hardware they get given. Also congrats on over 40k subs, been here since under 10k, before the face *ahem* foot reveal ;)
Great video, I agree that for GBA the 1st is the best. As for DS, ProStreet - great physics, cool challenges, and they finally brought back music with vocals
@@Blueflag04 Few repetetive tracks, I was quite disappointed with most wanted/ underground rivals. Carbon had nice free-to-explore city, Undercover for psp as well.
One of the best "Demakes" In the Need for speed series is underground 2 for the ds. It had a good campaign, good custumization a it was challenging. Surely not a perfect game, but I consider to be one of the best ports for a portable console
It’s so weird watching your videos and remembering you are still in a 5 digit sub count. Been around and will definitely stay around, love the stuff man!
Well done on hitting so many subscribers love watching your videos although for me it's the most graphically impressive games videos that I like the most.
I think my biggest issue with both GBA Underground games, is that they both include open side roads on the tracks. Open side roads that you CAN'T drive on. Meaning, I've lose many a race due to taking a wrong turn into an invisible wall because I thought I was meant to go down this super obvious open road, when I was actually meant to drive past it and take the NEXT corner. It's actually more of an issue in the first Underground, but Underground 2 does it a bit too. It's a little easier to deal with once you play for a bit and know what to look for as well as when you start memorizing the tracks a bit. But it's still obnoxious. I think the entire game would have done better if they just simplified the graphics. Take out the unnecessary side roads, make the wall and ground textures a little simpler and more cartoony instead of trying to do realism on a GBA. It would have cleared up the confusion, as well as making the entire thing look less like a pixel smudge. I definitely agree, that if they made these games with the V-Rally engine, they'd be SO GOOD. Like, I already like them, but maaaan, they'd probably be my favorite GBA games if they looked as good as V-Rally.
Yeah that Avatar video reeled me in, so I looked at other videos and defiantly decided you were a creator to keep my eye on and I can firmly say it looks like you will keep up a very good trend!

Music not boring, i thought. So, just played it a bit and you understanded what i mean. Sorry for my english, but i try hard
