I found Kendrick's to be more cryptic and lyrically layered (there's a lot more to interpret - an exploration of vice), but he's done it before. Quite a bit, on TPAB and others. Kanye's was much more direct and IMO more personal and telling. It sounded raw and more from the heart. Kanye is living proof that complexity =/= automatically better, and he's a rap icon (if not a legend) because of this.
Okay I’m sorry, in terms of a rap verse this has to be the best I’ve ever heard from Kanye. I have never really thought Kanye was a great pure rapper but this is an insane verse

I really don't see Yeezus as a braggadocios album. In fact, College Dropout has a million minute song about Kanye signing to Rockafella. Yeezus seems to be lampooning fame, showing him as a multimillionaire drunk on someone else's couch or still being a black, in spite of his unparalleled fame, and embracing what so many famous black celebrities have run from.
One interviewer, when talking to Kanye, put it pretty well (I'll paraphrase): What was squeezed from 808's was the "juice" that made MBDTF. On the other hand, from Kanye's perspective, 808's and Yeezus contains his strongest works, I'm inclined to agree. To me, these will be his timeless works.
The new album is going to be straight fire, I can't wait, but after listening to all three of the aforementioned albums (a lot) I can't think of anything on MBDTF that touches Blkkk Skkkn Head, Love Lockdown, Paranoid, Heartless, or Bound2. For those that can't get over MBDTF and College Dropout, this will probably blow their minds. For the rest, perhaps we've become more interested in seeing how Kanye pushes musical concepts. already wondering which horizon Mr. West is looking to after concluding this album. Just my two cents from a fellow fan of everything 'Ye.

He said that SWISH was gonna be(and I'm paraphrasing here) generally feel good music that you can listen to at a cook out or something. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes back to his roots a little in terms of rapping and topics, but don't be surprised if there's some experimental rock influence or something like that as well.

Kendrick's verse was painting the picture of how partying bring him farther from God. he was talking about falling into temptations and cleverly using religious wordplay to do so. the verse was genius and I'm pretty sure the purpose of it went over your head
