I know it sounds like this beat is just samples, but I went to remake it and when I put the loops together I noticed that he did so much more than just loop up chops from Suzie Thundertussy. He put his own drums on top of the track that are supposed to sound like the original drums, you can notice because there are open hi hats that arent in the original, and the snare doesnt have as much of a crack. It also seems as if he did the bassline over, probably required from taking the bass out of the sample to put his own drums back over. My assumption is because the groove is a little different in different parts of the song, for example the "let me tell you, I'm out here" is much different in groove than the rest. Also if you listen to the madlib version, the melodic elements of the sample are tucked back much further than the drums in the madlib version, while in the sample the drums and melodics are equally present. If you listen close to No More Parties you'll notice all of this.
Jeff Gore remember the beat would of been given to engineer to mix as well. Plus... who cares!!! enjoy the music!!! you freaks are always trying to over Analyse and jack someone else's style. That's not what hip hop is about.
I think you’re over analysing it just a tad, hate to burst your bubble but madlib made this on an iPad and did nothing to it really, he said in an interview he “didn’t wanna do anything to it except dirty it up a little” “that’s why they call me the loopdigga” and the beat took him 5 minutes to make. He didn’t redo the bass, it’s just filtered. Go listen to the Freddie Gibbs version, that hasn’t been run through a giant ssl desk by multiple engineers.
Sandurz, you are a standup guy. We all appreciate the excellent breakdowns you provide us! I like how you wake up early, comb your hair, and put on a colored shirt for these breakdowns. Then take a nap, wake up at 9pm in a T-Shirt grimey as fuck to drop bombs on fools for the beat critique! Thanks again bud.
great video shows how simple it can be, i know its old now but Rigamortus from section 80 would be great to see I've tried to break it down a few times with no luck but love it's vibe
DAMN. you good! keep doing this, been searchin long for someone who break down beats like this and make the remake sound so similar to the original.. you're the best I know !
I was going crazy trying to figure out where I've heard the second sample, thanks for the informative breakdown :) ... Now I gotta figure out what song I heard that sample in originally
I don't know if you've had the chance to play around with it yet, but I was wondering if you happened to have an opinion on the Maschine Mikro. I'm going to be new to the Maschine platform, but really enjoy the ease with which you can manipulate samples and shit, which is pretty tedious already to do in Ableton with just a keyboard and mouse.
i don't know if this is true, but i heard Madlib produced this on an IPAD!! when i heard this i just was amazed and speechless, it just shows me how phenomenal Madlib is. in my opinion he's a top 3 all time producer. if you disagree, please go listen to Madvillainy or Piñata
I don't get why in alot of breakdowns, the samples are pitched up in between semitones (quarter, half, a little over...) wouldn't that mean it's not in any key and make it tough to add additional instrumentation?
the whole song was produced on madlibs iPad
lmfao
Make sense being that there's nothing really much to it. All samples pretty simple to do.
wow then you havent seen how dj dilla chops his samples. not easy to do.
StrasnusDude 4 months late, but he wasn't insulting madlib. He literally made the beat on his iPad
The beat was done on his iPad, not the whole song

...what he said
Jeff Gore remember the beat would of been given to engineer to mix as well. Plus... who cares!!! enjoy the music!!! you freaks are always trying to over Analyse and jack someone else's style. That's not what hip hop is about.
Jeff Gore ink madlib could just know how to eq, and multiband compress but we will probably never know what he did
He just filtered the baseline with low pass and hi passed the sample, two tracked. added a little snare and hats. Job done.

Man Madlib is doing great things. He's close to passing DJ Premier as my favorite producer
aye chill chill preemo just dropped a masterpiece too called PRhyme
+thelankytank bars
thelankytank PRhyme was great but I like Mad Neighbor better
+VVDoom PRhyme 2 in the works, and Madlib x Freddie again, so hyped

@@Prophet-hv6ut all mainstream but ok
@@11donny not all of these are mainstream. And I'm interested in learning how the beat was made so it doesn't even matter if its mainstream or not
@@11donny why does it matter bruh
@@Prophet-hv6ut same, btw, does he not make vids anymore?

+protectyaneck__ yup he did
+Sandurz knew I heard it somewhere else too. Just couldn't put my finger on it.
I thought it was ghost face on the track, not a sample?
King KERUE bro he was look on the cruel summer edition “new god flow.1”
@@enregalia5033 Listen to the Cruel summer version not the single version, it has ghost face on it
Madlib is a genius, everything from the unseen to Madvillainy to shades of blue, it's all classics!!

Yessir Whatever, all the beat Kondukta, and his solo songs that appears on the net, this man is a genius
Sandurz, you are a standup guy. We all appreciate the excellent breakdowns you provide us! I like how you wake up early, comb your hair, and put on a colored shirt for these breakdowns. Fiiiiinally a Madlib beat.
Check out his All Caps breakdown 🔥
+the giant midget seen that already
You should try "Bitch don't kill my vibe" by Kendrick Lamar next
during the beat there is actually a light kickdrum that plays throughout the beat
I noticed that too. I was like "there is a double kick." It's crazy how the subtle things make a difference. Additional light light drums.
most underrated track on TLOP
JustEraseTheSystem tf ? how if this was one of the singles..smh
Beat by Madlib+Kendrick Lamar+Single = underrated.

+WHVTE LORD damn u lame
This beat is revolutionary
I haven't watched a beat breakdown stream in forever, but was happy when this was uploaded
Based Sandurz does it again
It must be obvious, but I'll say it anyway: the actual mix uses a mono sample
And your remake is missing the NBA Jam sound effects at the end
Came here to say this!!
mf madlib made this on an ipad, insane
We'd be no where if it wasn't for 70s groove.
Repurposing old art is beautiful
Pls do 30 hours & addiction
Never clicked a notification this fast!!!
Damn, I miss this channel
Banana Peels is sooooooo dope bro... Literally Water is on constant replay
I was going crazy trying to figure out where I've heard the second sample, thanks for the informative breakdown :)

5:51 Fun fact: Larry Graham is Drake's uncle
wow, i was first to comment so i choose the next breakdown.. "KENDRICK LAMAR - MOMMA" BEAT BREAKDOWN WHEN?
It ain't momma by Kendrick tho...
Dope
I would love to see King Kunta, but I think it might be too complicated.. Too many phases, effect, etc.
+Flagrant so[rt] knxwledge
All it is Lalah Hathaway
yaaaas dope ass chops, thank you sandurz I needed this today
Love you Sandurz
Can you do deeper by Freddie Gibbs and Madlib?

MAD Respect for this beat breakdown bro

yess u finally did a breakdown on this track
i don't know if this is true, but i heard Madlib produced this on an IPAD!! when i heard this i just was amazed and speechless, it just shows me how phenomenal Madlib is. in my opinion he's a top 3 all time producer. if you disagree, please go listen to Madvillainy or Piñata

YES THANK YOU
dope
That was quick
I don't get why in alot of breakdowns, the samples are pitched up in between semitones (quarter, half, a little over...) wouldn't that mean it's not in any key and make it tough to add additional instrumentation?
No clue what any of that means but the songs sound heavy so maybe they're doing the right thing
Damn you made a breakdown for this that quick
thank the lordt
This mad cool
Great video. You just made another subscriber
You should do some Flying Lotus! (I know it's experimental, but it would've been awesome)
Just discovered your channel. Love the idea man soo dope keep it up. Can you do light up by Drake/JayZ??
Didn't Ye use that Ghostface sample on New God Flow too
Lord Pretty Flacko Skillz Yes.
Making me do math. "4 beat section" Say one bar! 😄 thanks for the tutorial though.
You made seem so easy, just let the sample do the work. Thanks, this helped me a lot for sure
